||but theres something to be said about characters like sanji, he probably works better as a complimentary character rather than a standalone one||

Oda very well could have put ANY straw hat in front of kuma, but he chose zoro- because he believes that he's a strong character to fit the role of loyalty that a leader does. or what about when he steps up in place of luffy during water 7 to act as a voice of reason when luffy is acting out of good will. It's just the culmination of all of these moments that Oda specifically chose ZORO for that leads me to believe he has something big planned for him like the inclusion of conquerors haki to his arsenal.||
