MLB owners are the worst. But the reality is baseball needs a salary cap and owners and GMs are learning that overpaying for FAs that can turn out to be regrets like Chris Davis is not the ideal thing to have.
Like, any baseball fan saw this lockout coming as far back as 2019 off season.

The contract given to Trevor Bauer last year was an embarrassment to the league. When one player get's paid more than 5 teams' total payroll there's a problem.
Like, for my Rays. There's an exception. You think any of us like seeing players we like get traded or move on because our owner is cheap? I still miss Charlie Morton and Travis d'Arnaud that just won a championship just 5 hours up the road.
Like there's many reasons baseball stadiums are empty. You can't grow attach to players for a lot of teams because owners are either cheap or can't pay the prices the Dodgers or Yankees do. It's not always about the owners when talking about a salary cap, it's about the fans.
