The current system has it so that you’re only eligible for the ballot up to 10 years with a BBWAA.

Once you fall off the ballot, then you would be eligible for the contemporary era veterans committee ballot which basically is 1980s and onwards. And recently, The veterans committee instituted a rule that if you don’t get a certain amount of votes after 2 veteran cycles (doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be nominated in, but it just means you’ll have to have at least a certain amount of votes) you won’t be considered ever again.
