It's a forever thing that's only temporarily better with meds

Surgery is possible but difficult. Joints are complicated especially elbows

Knee replacements have gotten a lot better, but note the verbiage: not able to return to football. The surgeries for knees are great for regular usage of the joint, daily activities and decent exercise

Not running for 90 minutes, kicking, tackling etc

Elbows are noticeably harder at this current point in medicine

But you basically have two options

1. Artificial joint that lasts X amount of years and needs to be maintained or replaced after a certain amount of time
2. Real joint from a cadaver that, while it would be a permanent replacement, carries the risk of biological rejection and can result in you basically losing the joint permanently

Iirc, for cartilage specifically, they're currently working on a type of injection or something that will promote the growth of new cartilage cells (I think it's stem cell related but don't quote me), which would solve my issue as well as Alabas from what I gather, but that's still quite a bit off
