The pistons were sacrificed so the lions could win the north
I’ll take it
I’m just glad it’s the lions and not the packers or Vikings , I can vibe with this
I hate the packers and Vikings but not Detroit
That would not shock me at all
The raptors are mid
Tbh I’d rather them lose a bunch in a row
So they trade siakam
And actually rebuild the damn team
Already lost Fvv for nothing

@weak gull https://fxtwitter.com/bnightengale/status/1737551435758543183?s=46 I wish I could say “you got like the best starter from last year” but that would be a lie
I could say that he has some potential
And it’s only one year
14 mill may be a little high but this past off-season the market for pitchers, especially starting pitchers, has gone up in price tremendously because how desperate a lot of teams are
At the end of the day, the tigers needed starting pitching, and he’s a pretty decent option when he plays well

I wish that went in, would've been vibes
eh we both struggling, barcelona defense been a circus lately. It's a 50/50 game imo

Not trying to make fun of the guy, but like he had a VERY solid game after he threw up
Defence was SPLIT
Szoboszlai bangers against Raya's short arms
this is the QFs right
Yeah thats 5
Chelsea,Middlesbrough,Liverpool, and Fulham
Yeah
They beat Port Vale in QF
@sweet tree do we draw eachother if we beat Porto, and you beat Napoli?
It's been so long I forgot how it goes actually
there's no brackets yet until QFs or Semis i believe
The draw for the quarter-finals will be held on 15 March 2024, 12:00 CET.[9] The first legs will be played on 9 and 10 April, and the second legs will be played on 16 and 17 April 2024.
The draw for the semi-finals will be held on 15 March 2024, 12:00 CET.[9] The first legs will be played on 30 April and 1 May, and the second legs will be played on 7 and 8 May 2024.
yeah they just continue to do draws
Alright then
technically we'll see the bracket on March 15, since both QF & Semi-final match ups will be on the same day.
but yeah after ro16, it's just random. You can play anyone even from your domestic league or previous group.

I love how as of rn my prediction of an immediate SB rematch between KC and PHI looks about as wrong as it can be
Ask him to rank all the Mario games
I’m gonna make a bold prediction : the final 4 will be Buffalo Baltimore Detroit and San Fran
Wes might be my favorite sports Twitter troll
He's quickly gaining on Barry for me
Buffalo not making to WC
Buffalo is making the playoffs
This is such an insanely tight race it isn't even funny
I think bills win the division, the dolphins haven’t beaten a good team in a long time
Miami plays Dallas and then Baltimore in the next 2 weeks
And then Buffalo plays them week 18
Bills win out , dolphins split the next 2 at best , bills are winning the division
It's not out of the realm of possibility that they could steal the division since they have an easier schedule
Zappe got me
When both teams play their best ; the bills are the better team
That's still wild to me that despite their great record they still haven't beaten a team with a winning record, closest was Denver but they entered that game 0-2
Denver is a pendulum
As much as I hate giving credit to him tip of the hat to Sean Payton
Dude knows how to coach
Sadly tho they got plowed in Detroit
Durant looking at the LA Clippers right now
To get a team that started the year 1-5 to 7-7 with 3 games left is nuts
The broncos are gonna need some lucky breaks to make the playoffs
Detroit is a solid team this year, when they can run their O effectively they are tough to beat
who is facing the phins next ?
Dallas
Cowboys , in Miami
Bills were able to kill Dallas with a rushing onslaught
Miami could easily copy that gameplan with Mostert and Achane
I need to see what Skip Bayless has to say about it after the Cowboys get manhandled
The dolphins cowboys game is between the 2 most sus teams
It's wild how Dallas is rock solid at home but so mediocre on the road this year
The Buffalo game was just embarrassing
I think ravens niners will be won by the niners by a field goal
Nah we going straight the tyreek route
Just like how DK cooked that secondary
I mean, reminder that Dallas won that game
Still had 134 receiving yards
With 3 touchdowns
Also bland is not going to do shit on tyreek he’ll most likely cover waddle
I cant wait for them to lose their last three games

I shall enjoy this until he inevitably announces his transfer elsewhere
Dolphins hella sus , they haven't beaten a team with a winning record all year and the time they dropped 70 , broncos had a losing record
We’re about to find out who they are
didn't they lose like 2 of their starting o linemen
Yes
The problem is the dolphins are super fucking good against the bad or mid teams but those teams aren’t in the playoffs
we are so back
guessing it's gonna be a 2025 or 26 launch

florentino perez saving my sport man, the beautiful game ain't dead.
He’s ruining it
2025 it seems if everything goes well
I was hoping Star would have more teams, 16 kinda low
at UFC 296, did Cody just tried the look away technique after taging Kelleher ???
was expecting 20 tbh, 24 would've been fine

I guess we'll see
@jade bramble
bro tried to pull of legendary technique irl
The European Court said the Superleague is good basically lmao
Fuck Ceferin
Screw the new UCL format as well
Nonsense format just to have more games played to earn more money
Who cares if players rupture their ACLs left and right right?
LETS FUCKING GOOOO SUPER LEAGUE BACK YESSSSSS
hahahaahah that makes me so happy man
I never have to watch those teams again in my life! Please super league I beg
well for now it's just to replace the current UCL, those teams will likely continue in their domestic leagues.
It's fine that way imo
Ceferin downfall

but if it does happen and it is received well then I don't see why those clubs would stick around in their domestic league
tho idk, hard to say what the future holds
yeah I’m just overreacting, it’ll be interesting af
I see it as a replacement for the European cups
as of now it'll be an open league replacing the ucl, a lot can change in a couple years.
I hope more teams from lower ranked countries will be able to join somehow
I don’t see a reason why they won’t go on with this. And the domestic leagues will be bugging without these teams so they’ll be desperate to appease them
Personally wouldn’t mind
If we left
hey I'm on your boat ajay
Scenes as Vlahovic scores a brace to give us the first Superleague title in 2026

I personally care a lot about Serie A
The other teams in the prem don’t realise how important the big 6 are for the league
If they want us to leave I’ll gladly go
Maybe it's because literally everyone hates us and seeing them mald over us winning is priceless
It’s this
🎥 The European Super League explained:
💖 177 🔁 26
They want the success they can’t have
that's the format for now, tho hoping they revise it in the future
16 is fine imo because the teams still will be imbalanced
You don’t want to dilute it
When the money starts flowing in and teams get better
I can see it expanding
So, which 16 teams will join as the founding members? Juve, Inter, Milan, Barça, Real and?
I forgot who else wanted in
they're gonna apply some new FFP, not exactly a salary cap but something more sustainable I imagine
Didn't a couple of English clubs jump ship when it looked like they would get fined by UEFA for that
Think it was Benfica Porto and the prem clubs?
idk yet tbh
Which prem clubs?
They’re still in it legally lol
Good
kroenke obviously wouldn't wanna leave such a project
I want Galatasaray in just for the fans
Yeah wasn’t he like VP
Their home atmosphere is insane
idk but he was deffo pushing for it if I remember correctly
should've been 20 teams 😩
oh well
English gov claim they’ll not sanction any games but I’ll like to see them try
it'll still be midweek games
This is crazy
What’s the format to get into the super league. It shows how clubs can get in at the bottom but how will the original teams be selected
performing well in your league
Is it the coefficient?
it'll co-exist with domestic leagues for now
and yeah league coefficient, so like Turkish league teams would probably start in the blue league.
With those 64 clubs going there would the champions league still exist?
Oh so it’s different from the original concept of complete separation
it's an open league, it's different from the first format
but yeah I have my speculations it'll just remain an open league for a while, they could very well close it a couple years in and locking teams in. Then I guess pushing those big clubs out of their domestic league
I can't predict the future but for now I think it's alright
the only ones who get hurt from this would be UEFA
they basically own the champions league and other European competitions, they control the money and not the clubs.
the super league money is going straight to the clubs and not UEFA.
these prestigious clubs don't need UEFA
nah I meant like tv deals championship notoroiety. Yes the big teams don't need it but feels like would be a waste of resources to build the hype again
This format doesn’t seem too bad, I wonder how it would work with the club World Cup and the full replacement at the bottom does worry me that there won’t be many moves of clubs. If you’re in the blue league you’re not going to be going up. And I worry about the disparity for clubs since you can do really bad in your local league and still get the money of the super league and it won’t affect your position in it. With the champions league you have to do well in your leagues or you won’t come back the following year, now you can ignore the league and as long as you’re doing ok in the super league you can stay there as much as you want
Dude it’s actually pretty good
https://vxtwitter.com/theMadridZone/status/1737799117965783124?t=KdwFK_6B6Nl2J_eWxrCWDw&s=19 @short flame
seems like the blue league will constantly be changing
Did ||calhanoglu|| not play in ||inter||? @hasty basin
I guess not much will change for gold and star apart from 2 new teams and 2 teams leaving
But the top will barely change in this format
yeah probably not much
hoping Star expands to more than 16 teams, should've been 20 to start with and then add more teams.
I dont think it'll stay at 16 imo
I'm just curious how they'll enforce this new FFP tbh
what's the consensus opinion on this
im sure there isn't really one but are people more positive I guess?
cause last time had pretty intense backlash lol
not sure it's still quite fresh but I guess it's seen a bit more liked now than the first proposal back in 2021
yeah 2021 was nuts, this is a new format which has more teams / divisions and I guess it's an open league for the moment.
and so teams in blue wouldn't relegate at all?
wait hold on
I just opened the whole tweet
they'd kill TWENTY?
I mean, I guess I get it
it's like a regular champions league almost
20 new teams will show up every season, based off domestic league
yeah p much a UCL replacement
not much will change it seems for Star & Gold
blue will have constant changes it seems
Should be more kills at the top and less at the bottom
but yeah as of now ESL will co-exist with the domestic league, it'll just be replacing the UCL.
If 20 teams go down I wonder if the new 20 teams would be good enough for the competition
idk
I'll probably just watch star & gold tbh
lol
blue is basically europa league innit
He does
Now
interesting for now I'm sure it'll get future revisions which would be more interesting imo.
They wouldn’t allow me to put him there
Huh
Weird
Wait
Did they update it so you can't put the same player for 2 things now
They wouldn’t suggest him in the first place

They put him in Milan for me too
He still does
Maybe you can't use the same player twice

of course this is posted by a real madrid account
fuck the super league
what was it Bruno said that got memed to shit last time
"Dreams cannot be buy" or something
even the proposal now is cheeks. As people have stated, only way you get in is good performance in domestic league. so using Girona as an example, if they win La Liga, they'd still have to wait and win another 2 seasons before they get the chance to face off against the "elite" in the top league
thankfully, most clubs see that it would be a failure and are pulling out/stating "we are not going in that bollocks". Legit it might just be a league where its Barca Juve and Real Madrid lmao
Generally, negative opinion still. Slightly more positive than last time, but I would say 90% of that comes down to this proposed league being on its own streaming service where all matches are free. And I doubt they are going to keep it free for long
While clubs in the top league just have to avoid being the worst to stay in it regardless of the local league
I also havent seen what they've said what will happen to domestic league. I presume they think it will just work as it always does, but even if everyone was on board with the super league, a lot of the money fucks off from the domestic leagues and they will drastically change
The problem is any club gets a chance to be in the top league they wouldn’t refuse. You’d get guaranteed European football for at least 3 seasons and can do whatever in the league
They want to work with the domestic leagues and just erase the uefa from the equation
Currently, Man U, Bayern, BVB, Sevilla, Athletico Madrid, Valencia, PSG, Roma, Man City, have all outright rejected the Super League
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Napoli, PSV Eindhoven (nvm they have calimed those allegations are false), Benfica, Porto have all accepted the Super League Proposal

2025 it is
I think it’s only a matter of time before it happens
this superleague shit is a mess
juat continue the Championsleague no one wants this crap
yes we do
3x more revenue than what the UCL makes
money talks I'm afraid
clubs will deffo want in, let the clubs governed themselves instead of uefa governing them.
I’ll take this
The format needs a lot more work to make it work
No matter the decision we need a consensus, I don’t want half the teams being in the super league and the rest in the champions league
well, I think the rest of the clubs will follow suit with the ESL when it does happen. They just won't speak now due to threats, again money plays a big deal and clubs will deffo want to make more money someway.
Format I'm somewhat okay with, it could be better but it's a work in progress I guess
If 10 clubs accept the super league and go but the rest don’t bulge it would be bad. You need everyone to accept or stay
I'm sure they've got more than 10
honestly I think the Italian teams are deffo in it, just not saying anything.
What about Bayern
Prem clubs were in it the first time, I don't think their owners would back out of the project
well Bayern was never in it
They were completely against it
yeah I don't think a German club was in favor of it
for now things will continue as usual
So if it goes and the German clubs and some other clubs refuse to join what happens
Would there be two European competitions
That’s my main concern
it might lead to that i guess
Anyone not in the premier league would be stupid not to want in
A lot of people who hate the super league remember what it was in 2021, and now UEFA is doing the same shit except pocketing the money for themselves
"Are these many clubs in the room with us"
they'll join when it starts
Prem clubs were in it initially
they haven't really backed out technically, they're still in it based on the documents that were signed
It will soon be law in England that will not allow them to jump ship
@thorn hornet starboy
so as I said, Not England, Nor Germany
money talks, they'll be in it like the rest of them when it begins.
They’ll bottle it and cave in
thank you ajay

In other words, The NY Jets has company still in longest running playoff droughts
Correct !
And then the Pegula’s will do something. No reason to pay someone to not coach them *
That’s probably how they view it right now
It must be crazy frustrating to have only 2 teams in your town and both are owned by the same people
At least the Pegulas don’t mess with the football operations
Terry with the Bills is basically like James Dolan is for the Rangers
Gotcha
Meanwhile with the Sabres… Fire the HC! Fire the GM! Rebuild! Every 5 years
I don't want to hate on the guy and having some owners in my colombian team going away with millions of dollars stolen, I don't mind having Terry. he's not ideal but could be much worse. and I don't care about football, at least we have the bandits
Stars Canucks tied 2 -2 going into p3
Yeah I don’t think he doesn’t care or is corrupted , so that’s a good point
He has fired multiple GMs and HCs in the time he has owned the Sabres
Thankfully he hasn’t done other things besides the BS meddling he has done
The Sabres have gone through so many GMs and HCs the last decade than I’ve had in my 20 years as a Bolts fan.
3 GMs in a decade
Hired Tim Murray 2014
5th HC now in that span. Ted Nolan’s second stint
And then lol Bylsma, Housley, Krueger, and Donnie now
getting rid of that bitch was good
Sorry, still to me, they’re if it wasn’t for the Yotes in the state nobody wants, I’d be calling the Sabres the Skidmarks of the NHL
he took over a franchise that was in real trouble and kept it alive
#Raiders Derek Carr throws a PICK!

RB Kyren Williams is injured and headed to the medical tent after this play.
Dear NFC South, Why are you; you?
Seems like this is Rams house
Not surprised
Rams a sneaky wild card team?
What’s their main issue
ugh
their main issue is health
if they're healthy, they're a very good team
im really hoping the packers win out so we can knock out the rams in week 18
assuming seattle does too

Stars going to OT
Just send samsonov back to Russia
Dude is garbage
Absolute trash
He’s the upl of the leafs
Every time that man is in net I know it’s a loss
how do you lose worse than us
I'll take him
Because the leafs play down to competition, samsonov has lost all ability to goaltend and their defense sucks
same for ukko pekka
but we're the worst team in the league
man Put in Winston this is terrible
They’ve always been
Healthy they are very good
please no
why does fucking lawrence have to be concussed man
my opponent has fucking stafford and lamar
I cooked man
Can't believe Derek Carr just let baker mayfield into the playoffs.
Carrbage
Yeah it is
I swear to god if they lose in the NLDS again
I think Detroit got this
Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy
such a dumb league
lol
i dont even follow baseball
and i know this is meme tier
that's so much money
baseball
The Dodgers technically just spent 1,025,000,000 This off-season alone
Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy
We needed him so badly man
The only thing about this I remotely can enjoy is that it fucks over the John Heyman and his stupid ass new york bias
@robust grotto
Otherwise this is just fucking awful
Can’t wait to see bias baseball fans try to justify how a salary cap is bad for the league.
Will the anime fans join the Dodgers bandwagon?
I wouldn’t be surprised
But it's a win win situation, if the Dodgers win a world series they had to buy it. If they don't it's a massive failure
well at least everyone hates the dodgers like me now
Literally their top 4 best players were not developed in their system
1 billion is insanity
I can’t hate the Dodgers. Don’t hate the player, hate the game
Damn
I can easily hate the Dodgers
The Dodgers, Shohei, the city of LA
All of it
Real simple
i can easily hate them :D
Always hated them, always will
Baseball needs a salary cap. And the players will refuse it and dumb baseball fans will try to tell people how a salary cap won’t do anything when other leagues say otherwise
I want them to fail so utterly. I want absolutely nothing but tragedy for their record and a historic flop
1,185,000,000 BILLION DOLLARS
I forgot about the glasnow extension
You can hate the Dodgers all you like. But I simply hate the system more.
Rip
I cry
@robust grotto 🫂
They spend money. I really don’t care otherwise
I can only fucking laugh
It's more than just spending money though
They got glasnow, Ohtani, and Yamamoto
They are a huge market team that draws players in as well
Yep
So it's like what's the point in fucking trying
To get players
Even if you match the dollar fuckfaces like Ohtani will just go there anyway
Then the dodgers win 100 plus games just to get eliminated in the nlds/nlcs
@robust grotto the Yankees top was 300 million, and the Mets was 325 million just like the Dodgers.
The league allows it. That’s on them and that’s how the players want it. I’m not saying you can’t hate the Dodgers. But that hatred could be used on greater issues
Between the two $325 million contracts, he chose LA over New York
And I am saying there's enough hate to go around
Wish he chose New York
at this point i'm betting on the pistons breaking the losing record
Idk baseball but from what I can see the dodgers are signing all the best players or something?
yessssss
imma do over 120 pts in the losses in the next 2 games
That is what is happening
1 billion dollars
Don't enough ppl alr hate the yankees
IDK. I can see this turning into a Fuck the Dodgers instead of Fuck baseball and demand change
The system is awful and it benefits teams like the Dodgers who are also awful
Like look at the haters during the late 90s
And it creates a Golden State Warriors KD era situation
Plus +110,000,000 with glasnow and the 25 mill in Yamamoto
The most boring ass way the sport coulda gone
The fact that they lost to an injury riddled jazz team without their best player
Pistons are so sorry
Historically sorry
Just go for the record at this point
All the work done to make baseball more fun to watch only to zap any variety in star power
the jazz had 8 injured players out of 12... They even had to fly over a G-League player just for this game
At least the Juan Soto trade went through.
The Pistons are never winning another game
I can’t blame Cashman. This is just a player picking the Dodgers.
They do have history with Japanese players also it’s not just the Yankees
It’s just a reminder that the Yanks aren’t the hottest team to go to anymore
I really don't care, this genuinely the most boring outcome
At least the Yankees I coulda hated it a little more because pinstripes
But now it's just rubbing salt into a wound
What about the Mets
Daddy Magic Johnson
i'm about to call a wellness check for this man
It was the Yankees or the Dodgers
He beat uncle Steve and uncle Hal
I wouldn't call him Uncle Hal
Least not my uncle
Well. This blows. See ya guys in the wild card if we fucking get there
Baseball fans: But… Owners of small markets have money too. We don’t need a salary cap. Owners are just too cheap.
You’re not wrong. But even if we went with that and imagined a world where every owner isn’t a cheap son of a bitch. The Dodgers have more money, the Yanks have more money, the Astros have more money. Nothing changes.
Uncle Rogers
Also ew
Strip away his ability to make financial decisions
Rogers has money but they are a massive cell carrier
there was a point the odds were on the Pistons side (how was that even a thing that happened...) and he could have cashed out with 241 extra dollars
but nah, gotta ruin his life
Some people say they should only be a Floor I disagree. I think it should be both.
Of course it had to be MY team that faces the pistons on a damn back to back when we are this close to witnessing nba history
I'd rather just like the heroes on my team, not Atkins and Shapiro and Schneider fucking things up while Rogers adds another loonie dog night
I am denouncing my nets fandom if we lose to the pistons
they are not losing to the pistons, not even close
the nets are a team closer to dropping a 20 point piece on their head instead
if the wizards can do it so can the nets
at this point they should relegate the Pistons and bring up whoever won the G-League last year
The NFL the number one sport in the country has Star QBs in KC, Buffalo, and Cincinnai. Imagine those cites having elite talent for long periods of time in baseball
Baseball cares too much about it's "marquee" teams
The Yankees and Dodgers HAVE to be relevant guys!!! It's good for America!!!
i'm just happy for Shohei regardless
Fuck Shohei

The players are the problem here. And if you were in their position, you’d feel the same.
as long he isn't a ray
I sincerely hope he flops in Dodger land
The Reds had Joey Votto for the entirety of his career
It was fun talking to you man, but I hundred percent understand if you decide to leave the following of this specific sport. I do still plan to stay but like there is a massive dagger in my heart.
No disrespect to Votto, but he isn’t a Joe Burrow level elite.
Nah I ain't going anywhere. I am dramatic af and was and am still angry
But I love the Jays
Even if John Heyman and the Dodgers are a buncha bitches
More details
I guess I don’t get angry about it, because I’ve lived being a baseball fan knowing my team never had a shot of winning FAs
12 years. Jesus H
Of course the Dodgers are praying that the dude translates well to the North American game and doesn’t have to deal with long term injuries
I want to say that I don’t ever wanna say that about any Japanese star because it’s very sad thing but at the same time my heart is broken right now
And it’s the Dodgers
Japanese, Cuban, I don't care. Long as the player gets some money, fuck the team he plays for and their success if they are a Dodger
lol
I’m not a fan of signing pitchers to big money like this in general. Especially since TJ injuries are becoming way more apparent
You like to just pluck them out of your farm system, and they somehow become the next pedro Martinez for two months
Do you know I’m looking at every prediction list for the 2024 postseason
More than half of them
Still feature the rays because it’s the rays and they somehow always do it. Literally that’s the reason they site
Wow
Just wow
Got one with your name on it too, Yoshinobu.
That’s everyone’s mindset. Great regular season team and then shits the bed when it matters most
This is what they meant when they said he’s at the game
Damn
I feel like Big Mom ||getting attacked by law in Wano||
Well Cohen definitely tried. Just some things money cannot wash
He said, “No LOLMETS for me”
"no sir I want to lose in the NLCS not the NLDS"
He said - thank you, I will tell my agent to send this to LA immediately
Goodth day to you
It's okay Lunik now you get to join me in having a Japanese player use you for leverage to get a better deal out of the dodgers
I want to see the dodgers lose only to see the generational amounts of slander it would produce
Oh that's right Juan Soto is a Yankee rental
Sorry GoTime enjoy him in pinstripes for this year before he heads out west
He will be followed by Bo Bichette when Rogers wont pay him
Steve Cohen went all the way to Japan. Had dinner with him and his family for literally the Dodgers to take him.
It's just the city of LA and no cap baseball slapping everyone around
If somehow someway, Cashman pulls off an extension with Juan Soto a Boras, this off-season it will alleviate some of the sting
I wouldn't count on it myself with what Ohtani did in FA
I think players are going to want Free Agency more and more now
I am already counting down the days Bo is gone
HA that poor mfer
This is fine. Major League Baseball absolutely doesn't need a salary cap system, which always includes a floor and expanded revenue sharing. It's perfectly OK for one team to collect $1 billion worth of elite talent at will.
Is this the part that's good for the game?

missed the game how good were the rams in their win?
Good enough that they won
And the city of LA
Has won every sport

I hear this BS defense a lot.
Yes. 16 teams have won the WS in this time frame. But it’s such a generic and black and white defense. No context whatsoever. A: How many of those teams were small market? B: What were those teams windows after those titles? C: The NBA, the sport itself is more player, individual based than baseball. The NFL. Okay, lets just pretend for a sec that NFL and MLB playoffs are two different things. One is a series and the other is a game. We just got through a era where the Pats were able to win 6 SBs working with the cap. They didn’t need to throw money to win.
Seems to be a lot of worry out there about competitive balance.
Yes, baseball doesn’t have a salary cap.
Since 2000, MLB has had 16 different franchises win a championship.
NFL? 13
NHL? 13
NBA? 11
Baseball is the most beautiful game in the world. Super teams don’t guarantee you anything. Neither does spending money.
I remember a baseball youtuber 5-6 years ago make a similar argument about how a salary cap wasn’t stopping NE from having a dynasty. Like, yeah. But I’m sure not going into every FA period expecting NE to sign all the elite talent.
Kinda doesn’t add the fact that the teams that did win and were small markets in that timeframe were Using a lot of loopholes that are not available anymore to them
Type A and type B free agency
International signings been hindered
A draft with no lottery
Compensatory draft picks
Again. Context. It’s often never considered when making black and white argument like the twitter user above.
And draft picks were not aggressively slotted
He’s not just any random Twitter user, for he is Justin Verlander younger brother lol
Anyone can win a title in the MLB. But are we really gonna defend a system where 80% teams are fucked from the start when it comes to FA
I’m not gonna lie I’m a big market team fan but at the same time I recognize that I think it’s for the better for the sport if they have a floor and cap
I didn’t feel like looking up. lol
If the dodgers get sasaki I’m done
That would stink that would honestly be the worst but who knows when he’s actually available it’s only a rumor that he has an escape clause similar to Ohtani back in the day
If he doesn’t, then he’s gonna have to wait till he’s like 25
@dim kettle
I was just going over it in my head
In that time span since 2000
2001 Diamondbacks(which is more of a middle market), 2003 Marlins (which is also only “small Market”) 2006 Cardinals, 2011 Cardinals, and 2015 Royals
Only reason I prefer the NFL over other sports leagues
Unless I’m missing another small market in that timeframe, this is the only teams that won that are small market
And this doesn’t even bring up the point of it’s not only about the titles for the teams, the cities. It’s about building brands for these teams.
We can blame cheap ownership. But once again, if we were to live in a world where every owner wasn’t cheap. The Yanks would still have more money than the Rays, period.
Can’t wait to see this meme again with the Rockies logo instead in a few years

lol the Champions League has 10 different winners since 2000... kinda yikes tbh, 1 less than the NBA
tho idk I kinda give the NBA less slack as yeah its a 5v5 sport, more individual based
I mean making different winners for a sport shouldn't be hard
If that's what your goal is to attract people
Just punish the winners more and reward the losers more
USA sports do well because of draft picks system
UCL does well by just having shitload of teams
madrid kinda ruined the fun as well
but yeah footy is just a moneyball sport but it hasn't been working out yet for PSG and it took a very long time for City to finally win one.
yeah that too
ucl 80s and 90s winners had more variety
if you look in the 2010s
it's just bayern, chelsea, us, madrid and liverpool won one
tho I will say Juve & Atleti got close, I guess I wouldn't be saying this had they won one.
I really dislike this system despite it giving more equality. You’re congratulating mediocrity
Fine he left for a bit but still
That's why I give edge to footy normally
Like sure it's harder for the worse teams to get good but
You're encouraging losing
Imagine as a fan having to watch your team tank for 3 years
Ok if you're not like me you'd support a club like
Let's say Top 6 in prem or
ATM Rma and Barca
Or Bayern, BVB, Leipzig even Leverkusen now
The 6 in serie a
And if you're not you're probably supporting your local team
Or there's a deep meaning to it
It's always good to go to games with a winning mentality
was watching the commanders the other day vs the rams and yeah just kinda odd tbh
We can even say 13 years or something lol
Unless you're telling me they enjoyed "Andre Drummond" as their star
just a different sport culture really
Or Blake Griffin year
Sometimes a tank is needed to reset
But a reset is more than grabbbing a high pick
Falls more on the entire organization
Yeah that's what I'm saying it's different in US
Like getting a good coach and general manager
As a team it’s weird but considering the fact people pay to go watch you, I know my team may be doing bad but I would hate paying to go see my team tank. I’m not paying 100$ to sit watch my team lose to go get an 18 year old gamble
That's what I'm saying lol
Pistons fans had to watch their team be ASS complete ASS
Just for them to get the worst odds they could twice in their tanking years
Further slowing down the process and now it's just chaos
This was theoretically meant to be the year they start winning and they're on the record to be the worst team in NBA history
I like relegation, I think it's entertaining to see how the final match days unfold and who gets relegated or not. But yeah promotion / relegation doesn't guarantee those teams to succeed, most teams end up in a yo-yo cycle where they're constantly trying to survive to not get relegated. Drafts help those shit teams get better but yeah wanting to see your team tank games is kinda lame. They're both kinda flawed but I deffo prefer drafts a bit I guess.
tho drafts would probably never work in footy lol, cause multiple leagues in Europe and players start in academies instead of going to college or something. Also there's like no age restriction for those leagues, you could get called up at 16 from a clubs academy and make your debut.
Obv football isn't perfect either
If FFP was taken more seriously
And the breaches of big teams weren't looked over
The prem would be healthy
well before man city
it was united dominating the league
but I also think that's cause of the format of the league
it's a race
With Arsenal and Chelsea sprinkled in
and not a playoff
nah I'm just saying if the prem had playoffs
