dune movie || ive only read up to right before the ecologist lady was introduced, that took them into the sand dunes, but i watched the movie past that, and just closed my eyes and listened to music when dr yueh shot leto in the back because i didnt really wanna watch stuff i hadnt read because i felt it would have been inferior to reading the book. from the beginning of the film the characters felt really off compared to the book, paul, gurney and leto felt way too emotional and aggresive, when paul is quiet, logical and calculative, leto is kindhearted but can become coldhearted quickly and gunrney is meant to be this goofy and serious character but the movie just portrayed him as angry. he didnt even play a song or read some poem from the stuff i watched. all of yueh's character was basically removed prior to him shooting leto in the back and at that point i was just displeased and i didnt wanna ruin stuff for me later when i read.
im mainly depressed though because my dad was excited to watch the film and he enjoyed it but i didnt and that made him feel bad afterward when i told him i didnt watch most of it ||

|| theres some things i disliked about the ending, like jennifer melfi just cutting tony off suddenly and having no real resolution to that. The cut to black suddenly irks me a bit too, but i get it, hes dead. episode weirdly didnt feel like a finale, theres long term consequences stuff going on, like Aj going to war, Silvio laying in the hospital, paulie getting promoted, feels like the episode just before a season ends ya know. wish i had more to say but good show ||

She realized that Tony was never going to change and that all she was doing was giving him an outlet to vent. She was enabling him in a way and only stuck with him for so long for herself, because treating him made her feel important. He was never going to leave the mob or try to get better (as he himself had made clear), he was irredeemable, so the best thing Melfi could do for herself was cut him out of her professional (and by extension personal) life.|| Sopranos

It's as if tony knew the exact right words to get her to give up on him. something like this could of been done better. Maybe over multiple sessions where her trust and faith in him breaks down, because until this point despite everything she still believed he had the capability to improve. The way he jumps topics is what im talking about, he mentions every bad thing in his life back to back, he goes to old topics from years ago, he plays every card in the book for no real reason. ||
