The Squid Game, Ep. 4 and 5 ||after the "extra round" put assassination on the table as a valid strategy and alliances were consolidated, what a greater way of put all in practice than a classic thug of war. One of my favorite games in the show becasue physical prowess in difference of strength is really hard to pull when you want to make the weak hero win believable. The tension was perfectly build: the camara in the face showing the agony of everyone in a single shot, because they were indeed a unified team, and the music, the music was the most eficient use of a trope and beautifully done||

The beach ep was one of the good one during the rewatch, humanizing the character and giving proper depth to azula and others. The dues exmachina just ruined the entire show for me by a bit. Azula vs zuko was great. Ozai vs Aang depicted Ozai's character properly but the fight itself was just him being trashed.

||I don't really think so, because they were doing a lot of other stuff to build up to the endgame of the series. For example, the day of black sun was one arc, but before that Aang had to get ready, and so did the characters. Exploring the characters is something atla had always done, so I think that tradition continuing was important, even in book 3. It wasn't as cohesive as book 2, I definitely agree, but I would've been disappointed if they didn't let the characters breathe. Not every moment can be set up for the end game, especially because it's a tv show, not a movie y'know?|| ATLA

Also if Aang had used the chakra method, that would've gone against the show's main promise of Aang mastering the 4 elements, unlocking the avatar state and beating Ozai's booty. I can see your point about the lion turtle thing being a bit of a cop out, but I also think if Aang had killed or simply just beaten Ozai in a fight, it would've been disappointing. So.
