If you guys want a book that flows really easily and is very imaginable, you can try out the Belgariad. Classical fantasy, with your usual peasant kid is actually the chosen one plotline, tons of tropes, might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it flows well, is easy to imagine if you have seen even one or two fantasy movies/series, and has a great storyline

I can't call it unoriginal/cringe/trope-y because it was one of the books that caused the stuff to become a trope

That's like calling LoTR run-of-the-mill because it doesn't have "originality"

And besides, like the amount of tropes in sando proves, not being entirely unique doesn't make for a "bad" book

rick & morty S5 finale || this finale is weird af. first episode was fine, we finally got to see rick and morty having the fallout people have been speculating about since s4, but the second episode took the meta commentary waaaaay too far, it legit felt felt like they were not interested anymore. ig it's more lack of interest in doing canon episodes, but they have been doing this canon meta commentary shit way too much this season, nimbus, bird person, and now evil morty. only two jokes out of those were actually funny. "do not try to establish a canonical backstory with me" to nimbus and "everyone finally got what they want, let's move on" to evil morty this episode. ||

|| the canon itself was not bad ig, but i found myself way less interested in it after s3, maybe i got too used to the episodic format and canon being nothing more than a lingering mystery, made things exciting. the one bit i really liked is how they put a barrier around the multiverse where rick is the smartest man in the universe, that's some pretty cool sci-fi shit||

|| i also prefer how the two crows story was handled, i would consider it some tasteful meta commentary. i thought that it would be a quick phase in ep9 that would wrap up pretty quick classic r&m style but they actually ran with it, only for it to be quickly dismissed in ep 10 that is good meta imo. especially since they even made an anime opening for it ||

rick & morty S5 finale + bojack horseman || ig my issue with the canon is that it actually progresses the show so you get that feeling of "oh it's gonna end soon" while the episodic format reassures you that you will have more show. as bojack used to say "no matter what, the show must go on. if people get their happy endings, that means no more show, and that should never happen". quite a grim thing to reference here but it kinda works lol||

rick & morty S5 finale || rick seems to be way less of a nihilist this season, he's just an asshole lol. he always was, but i feel like this season highlights it with stuff like space beth, gundam phase, crow phase, not telling bird person about his child, fucking nimbus over by sending summer to get the shell. although that last one is more classic rick, so i like it ||

bojak horseman MAJOR SPOILERS || sarahlin dying and bojack almost killing his coworker really put me into depression, esp the former. i sympathized with bojak a lot, and kinda did a little towards the end but you just cant bring yourself not to hate him after all he does. one episode literally shows how he fucks up the lives of all the women that enter his life one way or another. the show also handles some pretty big mental health issues straight on, you would think it wont be bad with all the jokes, puns, and goofy animals, but man that shit hit HAARD||

raed a little bit macbeth in hs as well

I have two oldish books, a 1972 copy of The Plague, and a 1984 copy of The Two Towers ( LoTR book 2 )

i wouldnt say that, i think i need to read more to get an impression. i would usually read the entire thing before deciding if it's good or bad and whether i want to continue exploring the genre

The covers are kinda rough, but the pages in both are surprisingly well maintained even though yellowed, like they aren't patched or fraying at the edges which is very rare

i think i went 75% through it

And one of them has notes from someone called "Jenny" handwritten in pencil

And the notes themselves are so old the graphite is fading in some places

And the handwriting is really pretty

that's unironically the best place to find cool stuff like this. we have a street book market here as well and you can find gems like these for similar prices

It's hard to find these on such places, these 4 books came from over 30 visits of minimum 2 hrs in such markets in 3 different cities over 3 years before Covid broke out

they cleared a big uni library here and all the books ended up in that market for like 50 cents each

some of them were huge and pretty good books

The real gems can be gotten when libraries are cleared or from used book stores
