On GoT or A song of ice and fire || Martin’s books are astounding. If the show runners had kept faithful to the books and not deviated when and how they did, the show would have ended with critical acclaim. however they raked every piece of characterisation, every carefully laid plot point and fine world building behind a cart full of horse manure babies first story craft for the final two seasons. I really hope Martin does make an effort to restore the glory of his world and doesn’t give up as he has seemed to because of the poisoned chalice created by the clowns because it would be amazing just to see the twists handled well ||

||I think the movie was good.... for a James Gunn movie. It was enjoyable, fun, and straightforward. I loved the characters, especially Ratcatcher 2, Polka-Dot Man, and Blood Shot. I think it was pretty cool that we very much got to see that yes, Harley Quinn is a crazy villain. Along with that, I loved seeing something as ridiculous as Starro brought to life. Great, fun villain which is perfect for the whole "Gunn" vibe. I liked the fact that it was hilarious in a way that I don't think Ayer could have ever pulled off, but I'm glad we got this "redo" of the property.

That being said, this felt A LOT like James Gunn ripped the same design philosophies that he used for Guardians 1 and applied it to TSS. He used obscure characters, which was nice, but if you look more closely, you could see that he used many archetypes that he originally made in GoTG. King Shark was Groot, BloodShot was Peter, Ratcatcher 2 was Gamora, and so on. I also didn't like seeing some characters, which were developed very well get killed off so casually. And I realize a lot of the "main cast" survived, but Polka-Dot Man didn't deserve that, smh. It left a sour taste in my mouth, and while I get that Gunn wanted to emphasize this is the "suicide" squad, there wasn't a need for all of those characters to be killed. The movie was well done and fun, but I don't think I loved it. Shazam still takes the cake when it comes to the DCEU for me. I'm personally ready for a reboot of the whole universe, but this was a good effort and a good James Gunn film. 7.7/10|| The Suicide Squad Review @sage sleet @hoary hawk @tribal forge
