Wicked For Good ||okay the second half of the movie was a lot stronger. Still just okay in the end.

It does fix some of the connective tissue missing in the play and that's a good thing cuz it's a huge problem with it, but the changes to the first hour to reintroduce characters and relationships from the first movie do remove a lot of the tension from it and make elphaba feel a lot softer than the same parts of the play

Whereas the missing middle act from not actually covering the events of Wizard of Oz (most of that movie happens between two scenes a second apart lol) is exacerbated by the extended first half, it feels like we jump directly from the rising action to the ending. Which is true for the play too but the abstraction provided by its pacing and medium make it way more forgivable in it.

When it gets good it's good, and it's a solid enough adaption. But it's inherently flawed material and I think the attempt at staying faithful made it a messy movie.||

||also the script kinda sucks and feels very self referential or tonally dissonant whenever it's not directly adapting the play||
