The issue I have with so many of these is treating everything before the Jurassic period as a prologue for the era of dinosaurs, and talking about evolution as this localized immediate contest
This documentary is so disinterested with the Triassic period it's talking about the animals exclusively in reference towards their descendants
This was its own era and world.
These animals coexisted together for hundreds of thousands or millions of years it didn't wake up and become an archosaur one day to beat up the old guard
