I agree with that
Like I said, I really do like his work a lot. I can just see the flaws and while I think Sanderson is the most prolific fantasy writer at the moment, I wouldn't call him my favorite
my personal complaint will always be his prose and worldbuilding, but I can stomach it for a good story
His prose is fine if you are making something like Stormlight
But I wouldn't want it in other series
Jay Kristoff is the prose I like most for now. But I'm also new to reading constantly like i am
so i may find better prose
You mean the Empire of the Vampire dude?
yes
I've heard varying things about him
yep, fair critcisms too
From really awesome prose to people hating it
It's on my tbr so I'll definitely get there
Empire is grim dark and thus has edgy prose at times, coupled with gorgeous, almost purple prose
even i cringe at the edge, despite its intentionality
bingo
More first law today
Which I don't care about that
some of the swearing is good. others not so good
granted, Empire is now one of my favorite stories, but your mileage may vary. it's not for everyone
and i mean the full trilogy
I am fine with edgy and grimdark
I tried reading Prince of Thorns recently, but had to put it down for Mistborn. That was the first time, a book kind of bothered me.
Prince of Thorns that messed up?
i have completed mistborn book 1
more of just annoyingly dark
Oh try hard dark
yeah, especially the dialogue of the MC
Who wrote prince of thorns
Mark Lawrence
The way of kings || why do people seem to care about 'done' vs infused spheres? Kaladin and others being able to use stormlight seems so rare that the average person probably doesnt know about it. Is it just the practical matter that they can be used as lights? Dont tell me if theres an answer beyond chapter 59 ||
I can't remember any exact answer, but whenever you post here about Stormlight, maybe tag @sage remnant because he loves the series and probably knows more than the rest of us.
twok || they're used in fabrials like the soulcaster jasnah showed and stuff, its basically bateries. The average person doesn't need to know as long as the currency is moving to the hands of the the people who do||
Way of kings || also stormlight is the easiest way to prove that a sphere is authentic. people are sometimes suspicious of dun spheres because they could be counterfeit ||
oh yeah these nerds also love Stormlight
And mistborn, and the entire cosmere
twok || they're valuable because highstorms that recharge spheres happen only once a week and that stormlight in spheres leaks out or is quickly used by people, etc. Only rich people use it as light because they have so many they dont know what to do with it ||
If the cosmere is slop then call me slopzua 😋
Hola
hola
@mild seal i did finish all of Wonderman
Wonderman Latest - || the ending was really just whatever basically just Marvel transition shit, but i felt like episode 4-7 were so well put together ||
Wonder Man ending ||the ending wasn't just Marvel shit, it showed his growth as a person and realizing that his superpowers aren't something to be ashamed, but a part of him. its how he was able to finally control them and accept who he is||
or I'm overthinking it idk lol
Wonderman Ending - || no i mean the ending ending, not the lead up, like them escaping prison. it was basically just transition to "Wonderman will return in Doomsday" type shit lol||
Wonderman Ep 6 ||Honestly that entire interaction between Simon and Trevor in the trailer was so good even though it was short, because of the mismatch Trevor basically trying to quip his way out but Simon seething the entire time. ||
Wonder Woman when?
lol probably 2028 earliest imho
I love that movie
is wonderman married to wonderwoman
it was really good
FMF - || The movie felt short , but had great music throughout and the plot definitely moved rapidly with it. The Possum def my favorite character||
Me at the end of Rosemary's Baby ||https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_saAdEdv3FM||
#iShowSpeed #GreenScreen #LiveSpeedy
last argument of kings || just finished "the circle" chapter. holy peak

||
last argument of kings || why is the climax in the middle of the book there are still over 250 pages to go
|| @sage remnant
KO7Ks ep 3 || another beautiful episode, things are getting... interesting
||
Ep 4 will air Friday to avoid the Super Bowl conflict
Way of Kings || Infused spheres hold Stormlight which technically hasn't yet completely but is in the process of being their primary source of energy. Their fabrials are powered by Stormlight; the whole army is fed using soulcast food which is done using Stormlight in the gems/spheres, their instant messaging pens and its network is powered by Stormlight.
Plus counterfeit ones can't hold Stormlight. That can be used as metric to check if someone's being duped or not.
Essentially what Soulcasting fabrials done is commodization of what Kaladin and others did. (not exactly sure when it's explicitly mentioned, but it was obvious atp. I think one of the visions explicitly show that to be the case). So soulcasting can't function without that source of energy ||

Slopzua
Just finished watching Iron Lung
Just finished frankenstein
Some of the writing in this book is so beautiful dude
I need to start keeping track of quotes that stick out to me or smth
But yeah this book was really good
gonna go to the blade itself while im waiting for my papa to finish Rhythm of war
Excellent
Took way longer to finish then it shouldve
But we did it
Took a little bit to get to it
what is it about?
shit i forgot about KOTSK again 😭
i want to check this movie out
@foggy mirage feel like Brave and the Bold is being delayed a bit, or is this just fake news
Like 200 pages
Its like 8 pages
Hours l
Not pages
Its a little wordy tho
Not too bad
But a little wordy if u havent gotten used to her writing style
Very beautiful writing though
I haven't seen anything
😞
Brave and Bold News - || seems like we won't know who the director is still, looks like maybe Andy might be focusing on maybe WTD ||
Im fine if they switch that tbh
i guess it all depends who for me
looks like KOTSK will be early next week
guess ill just binge both on friday
Iron Lung movie ||I saw the movie a couple days ago and came away very impressed, but confused by the story somewhat, especially in the latter half. A lot of creative shots and visuals and it's not afraid to take it's time to get going, and it nails the claustrophobic feeling of the submarine. It's a pretty cool and bold premise to have essentially the entire movie confined to this submarine. The tension, the tone and atmosphere are really felt through the sound design, every shot, and every jostle of the submarine, and the blood slowly trickling in like it could fall apart at any moment.||
Iron Lung movie ||I'm a bit biased because I'm a big fan of Markiplier, and I don't go to theaters often or watch a lot of movies, but I can't think of anything overtly negative to say about it. I've seen some people say it's kinda slow, but that isn't necessarly a bad thing imo. Sometimes a slow-burn is good.||
is that the multiplier movie
how do I type out well of ascension on here so y'all know? MistbornWOA?
or just mistborn book 2?
WoA
or MBe1b2
oh hell no i'm not typing that second one lol
Finally onto the only good Mistborn book
MistbornWOA ||Nice start to book 2, curious if Elend's father is actually going to succeed in taking the city, 'causing Vin to be sent on some dangerous mission. I'm also very glad Brandon tackled the fall of the Lord Ruler in a more subtle way, as he shows Sazed with countrymen whose lives have been upended by thieves and other criminals now that the Lord Ruler's armies are no longer around for protection. I'm guessing the mist person Vin saw for a moment is going to be related to the Deepness (enemies?) or Well of Ascension and be some prototype for the magic of Allomancy. Maybe it's even a god of sorts.||
I kept seeing split views on this one
then again i think I saw split views on all three books lmao
HoA is among my least fav reading experiences ever
Well, I'm going to read it anyways
Any BrandoSando defenders in here want to say otherwise to Goro?
they all seemed roughly the same to me im surprised you think one is a mega outlier
Everyone lol
I am in the suuuuper minority
lmao
Even the HoA haters are disgusted at how much I hated it
I think TFE is like a 3.5
is Era 2 better? I probably won't read that for a long time to come.
WoA had the potential to be my fav book of all time list level but it ended up being like a 4.25
HoA is 0.5/5
I enjoyed the first mistborn book. Like an 8/10 for me. It has issues, but I didn't feel like stopping.
That's a big spoiler man
For someone in era 1 😭
is it? I can delete it
I think I might have already known that too for some reason?
i thought it was common knowledge re the eras
Book pop culture osmosis Buffy
for me, anything you can get off like the back of the book or the book jacket isnt really a spoiler
what do you mean by that?
just like because i'm more into books now, I'll just hear it through the grapevine?
Red will literally kill us
That should be a command for Red actually lol
is saying like the high concept of a book a spoiler now? Literally any information whatsoever?
is it a spoiler to say brave new world || is about a dystopia ||
When it comes to games, I know, there is like no tolerance for spoilers of any kind. not even leaks
i don't know how western and other series handles it though
shit. now I don't know lol
i assume not, but now i'm second guessing myself
it was probably just because saying mistborn second era ||takes place in the distant future, as it can maybe disrupt people's expectations as they read the current books? but really I have no idea and maybe i'm just getting lost in the weeds. As long as we don't discuss plot points and character things, I assume all is well||
anyway that aspect is refreshing but it doesnt reach the same highs as era 1 idt
It's fine, I won't find out for years to come anyways. I think I'm going back to Jay Kristoff after Mistborn: Hero of Ages.
Maybe I'll try Mark Lawrence again and see if I can try and make it through Prince of Thorns.
Like, I might try this.
Very Jay Kristoff cover if his reputation is to be believed
I like this one
It's fine, neither this nor the other one strike me as a terribly interesting cover
Bah, I like both covers. I also just love seeing paintings.
The latter isn't that good but is good on shelf
But tbh as long as it doesn't just have a plain sword on the cover, it's a win in my book for fantasy
Goro are there illustrations on the inside of the book?
I actually
Have a point relating to GRRM
And that very thing
Because the blue with a sword cover of game of thrones, always to me was not great
there were some updated asoiaf covers recently that looked really good
i never pay attention to covers on audiobook or kindle tho
I swear I heard a rumor once that the GoT covers that were basic bitch style covers with the helment, sword, crown, etc. were meant to invoke some historical feeling?
as if the book would feel like more than just fantasy
This, bland bad
But, when AGOT and ACOK first release, they had full illustrations on the jackets
This? Peak as all hell
Yeah, these are the versions I have in hardcover
all new covers
Yeah I loved this series
I picked up the new ones and actually will be diving in hard to got
If hope they still keep the basic bitch ones so my collection can stay consistent lol
I am sure they will
juuuust in case TWOW releases (it won't)
dont worry. im sure your collection is as complete as it ever will be
yep.........
sighs
I'll just write TWOW myself, with blackjack and hookers
man, actually, that joke doesn't even work since ASOIAF is dark as is
That was another reason I bought this collection
I don't think Martin finishes winds
So I figure get em all now with the cool covers and just take your time reading em
@limber urchin @spiral quest check Japanese GoT covers
hahahahaha I've seen them years back
Japanese GOT covers?
i never feel like getting into the GoT books, because i know it's never going to end
the ones on the right are japanese?
No
ASOIAF is still my favorite story despite not being finished. And if One Piece suddenly - god forbid - stops, it will still be one of my favorite stories.
they're so amazing in a really weird way
lol @spiral quest I fuck with it heavy
Fucking why
At least that Tyrion is mildly book accruate
that looks pretty good
It looks like a seinen manga
Tyrion don't look nothing like the handsome Peter Dinklage
well it is a seinen manga isn't it
I think what doesn't work for me is I am BEYOND burnt out on anime/manga art styles rn
And comparing these to the fire new GOT book covers
It's night and day
wait till you see Manhwa, that shit all looks the same
I've seen manhwa
I know
It makes me sad because I used to love a lot of manga
But now even ones with interesting plots I am kinda just like "do I really want to sit through another manga that doesn't have a style I vibe with"
fair enough
i haven't touched a comic/manga in a few weeks now
i'm probably in the same boat
i mean aside from one piece
In a weird way, I left comics for a while when it was getting bland, now I've swung back around
but .... I don't even read, i'm just snipping for Agenda
Agenda posting is based after all
i'm trying to focus on mostly seinen going forward. uh, after Haikyuu. Sooooo. I got a while to go.
Besides OP, I don't think Ive read a shonen in a long time
no more shonen for queen buffy?
hello #fantasyandcomicbooks
I can't comment, idk much from the Brontes
Oh. Crap. I forgot I did intend to read Salem's Lot. Maybe I'll do that instead of Kristoff.
the arts good but that thing is terrifying lol
Well knowing who the character is
That would be why
It's not a spoiler, it's a main character btw
My boi Tyrion
Biblically accurate Tyrion
"That thing."
Tywin, is that you?
I dropped game of thrones during season 1 cause I got bored so I dont get the reference
I dig the artist's style
Which book is thus

It says 3 so I ASSUME storm of swords
I am going to.....I don't know what. But I'm going to scream.
But what character is that
medieval fantasy is my least favorite setting for anything
Tyrion
so its hard to get into that stuff
What ...
That's Tyrion Lannister
it's fine. gangster genre is my least favorite genre. so the godfather is just kind of meh for me even though it's technically a good film
makes me wonder if i'll hate the sopranos
I mean he is ugly as sin in the books
Book Tyrion looks significantly different than Peter Dinklege, GRRM even joked that Peter was way too handsome for the role
Peter dinklage mogs this monstrosity
book tyrion is really close to that Japanese cover. They just needed some dark hair strands among the blonde
Fun fact, Peter is actually taller than Tyrion is canonically
kinda based
While we are on the subject of ugly, Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher is supposed to be ugly too
Cavill and CDPR really made him a hunk but in the books he is a skinnier ugly thing
ASOIAF and GoT ||Brienne of Tarth and Tyrion are both fucking butt ass ugly in the books. Like, it is a common talking point about the characters.||
we agree on something
oh lmfao
I will give credit to Martin, though Ive not read all of ASOIF, dude gets character writing

ALTHOUGh
And arcs
crap. I'm a hypocrite
I do like the sopranos
'cause I loved the first two seasons of Narcos
and banana fish
I got caught up in ugly characters, I was gonna say my least favorite thing rn is anime/manga in like modern tokyo
Got || Wait how ugly was Brienne in the books ||
What don’t you like about the genre Buffy
Very
urban fantasy with a japan setting?
So it plays a small role in me not liking the Japanese GOT book covers
Cok || i havent watched the show but i do feel like peter dinklage better represents the swagger of tyrion than that thing in the cover. I always thought cersei and sansa are particularly ruthless towards his appearance moreso due to royal standards of beauty being just really high than him being particularly ugly. ||
Or just any Japanese setting because it's reallllly saturated rn
VERY
😭
Not saying medieval fantasy isn't, but anime is a lot more popular rn than medieval fantasy
Lemme rephrase
pretty much any isekai is that
Modern setting anime
I don't like isekai as a rule so it's hard for me to judge the popularity of it
I just avoid that stuff all together
and yeah urban fantasy I tend to dislike more often than not
ASOIAF (you can read this) ||Jamie loves reminding Brienne how much of an ugly wench she is. her teeth are jacked up too. no breasts, just confused for a man everywhere she goes. i think even Catelyn says "“Beauty, they called her … mocking. Is there any creature on earth as unfortunate as an ugly woman?”||
Everybody be different is all
I think it stems from my childhood. I was not raised in a good place, and there was both gang and gang violence.
Did u finish book 1 yet buffy
I think I just got burnt out on so many series having Japanese school as a main setting
But, again, I'm a hypocrite 'cause I jived with Narcos
Mistborn? Yes. Started Well of Ascension last night.
exception to every rule. I like some medieval fantasy media.
Its just that the setting is never the reason I like it
Sopranos ||is very wanton and casual about its violence but at the same time it generally narratively punishes the characters who inflict it. I think you’d probably not like certain parts and like others ||
ACOK ||I can't remember if he had swagger so much as he was just incredibly witty, sarcastic, and quick on the draw when it came to playing the game.||
Can I read this?
advanced
Yes
Which anime is it?
It’s just general
I think medieval fantasy is one of favorite settings but I also don't like EVERYTHING medieval fantasy. I am not gonna pick up a random series that is just that and be entertained if it is doing the same thing someone else did
I still plan to give it a try nonetheless
Prolly just Berserk manga
I think you should, it’s a good series
and people are gonna recommend it you until the end of time so
spice and wolf
Dammit, I love Berserk, one of my favorite stories of all time. Dungeon Meshi sadly didn't vibe with me.
not as bad as the mid 2000s lol
“What tv shows do you like?” “Sopranos and the wire”
Idk if you got to like ep 9 or 10 but thats when I really started getting into it
I'm surprised I've gone this long without seeing it, 'cause I had HBO growing up when it was airing live.
And Breaking Bad! Don't forget Breaking Bad later on
A coworker let me borrow the manga.
The holy trinity of serialized tv
Never watched those three 😎
first few volumes
I guess some people would include Dexter
I loved Breaking Bad I'll admit
I love Breaking Bad
You should try anime of it Buffy
I also didn't enjoy it very much in manga
dunmeshi
huh. maybe i just don't like The Godfather?
hell, I even watched Blood in Blood out as a kid
did you ever watch like goodfellas
yeah. I thought it was fine
It just is super popular like The Wire and Sopranos
Was it ever that popular?
Same, to the first part
ASOIAF || she was high born too iirc and yet it didn’t matter. Being an ugly woman must have been top 3 worst things in that universe ||
I think the sopranos is a lot more like goodfellas than the godfather
It was pretty popular with people I knew
I don't remember it being ever talked in that capacity back then
considering how much praise it gets, I assume i will at least like it a b it
I dated a girl for a while who thought Dexter was high art
can apply to the real world as well sadly
it was super popular but not like Breaking Bad or heck even Supernaturals
Supernatural, ah what coulda been
maybe she was just attracted to people like Dexter /s
Tho the latter might just be Jenson Ackles stans
That's probably why we broke up!
Nah Supernatural had a decent run for a while
Your dark passenger wast present enough Sab
@limber urchin || Jensen Ackles Kelsier. Think about it. || mistborn
Hmmm
I'll work on it, need to bring it out more
Yeah
He actually is close to how I pictured that character while reading
Is Supernatural that show that wished it was as good as Buffy?
Part of me forgot you’ve read the cosmere
Idk why you would think that
Just go into #sports when the pats are playing next weekend and you’ll come out with murderous intent
Very true
I think both vibe with me in different ways
For whatever reason, multiple people in this server has compared the two to me. I just never saw Supernatural and so talk shit about it as a consequence.
I don't get the reference.
Fancasting
Apple TV bought the rights to the cosmere
Is grey’s anatomy still going
Oh, that's actually not too far off from how I pictured him in the book.
I hope it isn’t lol
which I think is better than the most popular fancasting. || Henry || Mistborn
who would make a very good || The Lord Ruler ||
Tempted to click on these spoilers
Mistborn ||How do you cast Vin without the actress aging up noticeably?||
|| you age down instead || mistborn
Mistborn || A role where he just to aurafarm and speak very little and then die ||
|| so essentially just DCEU Superman || Man of Steel
fast production schedules?
I guess
Lmaooo
Loool
Jesus
They running off @scenic terrace 's money
Nah I am chillin man, we gonna lose and that's totally fine, was a great year
Anyway, I need to finish Pines by Blake Crouch. I've read about 40 pages but something about the book is offputting to me
Have you watched The Pitt yet?
|| I think the highest you could get away with Vin is an actor around 25 || mistborn
Him and soccer moms are keeping this show afloat.
Won't really work
What's crazy about Buffy is that Sarah Michelle Gellar went awol for years after the show and then Scooby. But David Boreanaz, who played Angel, went on to be in multiple well-received shows that lined the fuck out of his pockets....and he was a mediocre actor at best in Buffy. I brought this up because hearing Grey's Anatomy reminded me of the show Bones that David was in.
I always forget about Angel
I misread disregard that statement
@sage remnant
Angel is a good show, but nowhere near as good as Buffy. But Angels' fifth season is legit great with one singular episode that trumps almost all of Buffy.
What is buffy
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Oh
Not Buffy, Luffy's joke daughter
I thought you were talking in third person
lmfao
😭
I love how my name confuses people
How do you not know Buffy
Have yall watched Fringe?
I bet they've at least seen images of Buffy. One sec.
I think it was cool sci-fi show, bit slop-like sometimes
Cool sci-fi show? You talking about BATTLESTAR GALACTICA?!
Most people I know who have watched it have it as their fav show
Buffy is one of three things that Joss Whedon did that is quality
The rest of it can be flushed like him
Another being Firefly?
Firefly, Buffy, and his X-Men comic run
Didn't know he did the Xmen one
Yeh it was called Astonishing X Men I believe
It was the one right after Grant Morrison's New X-Men
White mom's One Piece
Adam watches…
It's not my fault i felt like i was the odd one out for being the only person that hasnt seen it...
Plenty of people in our class get clowned on for not having watched things like harry potter, that wasnt about to be me with grey's anatomy...
Your classmates are weird
You can definitely pass on Grey's Anatomy. Unless you're into soap like medical shows
peer pressure strikes again
We may be weird but i'd rather people get clowned on for reasons like this than actually toxic reasons
Yes i am known to be easy to peer pressure
Just put my appendix in the bag lil bro
Dw i started season 9 in july and we are still on it
I heard only bitches watch season 9 and above
We actually had to compare 2 articles about antibiotic treatment vs appendectomy and how if there is not a fecalith (basically a mass), they have about the same rates of success 🤓 ☝️ but that surgery will probably remain the primary treatment option due it being harder to confirm that or not (idk why tbh, this is probably some money-scheme) 25% of patients in the study that used antibiotics had to return for an appendectomy due to the fecaliths (but again, when the study was controlled for the fecaliths, antibiotics/surgery had the same outcomes)
So no appendix for you mister
Have you settled on what you want to specialize in yet?
My cousin just got accepted into his ophthalmology residency (I think, I don't actually know how it works but he got accepted into something)
wow that means your cousin put in a lot of work. Opthalmology is one of the hardest ones to get. No, i dont know yet
I think he’s slept like 3 hours a night for the past few years so
Greys anatomy s2 finale iirc ||And people tell me this show aint accurate (Headline from today)||
I love supernatural tbh
way of kings 66 || i was just saying dalinar is probably doomed like 10 chapters and a couple days ago but despite that i was surprised by sadeas' betrayal. I just couldnt imagine betraying the guy who saved your life like a week ago. I got tricked alongside dalinar ||
i actually watched a couple episodes i forgot to say
i liked it, but i'm going to need more time lol
Way of kings 21 || Dalinar, Kal, and Shalaan. Really cool cast of MCs so far. Although I want more Shalaan chapters, especially since she successfully became Jasnah’s student. Also, I think kal is becoming like Szeth, able to absorb the stormlight from the spheres, this is how he was able to find the strength to endure that last bridge run, resulting in the spheres becoming dun when he gave them to Gaz. Now, I still don’t know what explains his “luck”. How come none of the prashendi arrows hit him?? Who knows ||
Ive watched all seasons
we aren't built the same lisa 😭
i can't even read
You just tend to take more time reading
Which is normal
Lisa pick my next movie
- Arrival
- The Lobster
- Rashomon
- Drive
rashomon
Arrival
I like amy adams but i thought arrival was kind of boring
lmfao
i guess Rashomon it is
Damn you started peak
Enjoy
enjoy peak
Last argument of kings || Malacus Quai is dead and was killed and replaced by TOLOMEI OF ALL PEOPLE??? What the fuck. || @sage remnant
Drive or arrival
Knowing you thought drive
LOL you're joking 😭
alright bet ill watch drive then arrival
What did u end up watching
finished Rashomon, was an interesting film
Rashomon - || from face value i liked some aspects of just the derivation of stories, icl the one from the medium had me rolling 😭.
I didn't know anything or even watch a trailer so i guess my mind was just thinking it was like a murder trial with some twist at the end, but it def needs a re watch because nearing the end i could start to get a sense something more correlated to real life. I don't feel like watching a video essay so eventually i will figure it out lol. Just from the movie, i discerned the different aspects of the testimonies revolve around the foundation of trust and self serving truths, but there is some other stuff i am def missing. ||
Rashomon ||this is not a movie to “figure out”, it’s about a series of stories from different perspectives making the central tragedy of the woman’s fate into a game of who did what, which dehumanizes the act of her sexual assault and the murder of her husband ||
Rashomon ||this is the first film that did multiple perspectives to tell a deeply human story in film, so much so that it has inspired an entire study of the phenomenon of unreliability in truth and perception, everyone is ideal in the story by omission of truth and by lying, thereby removing themselves or absolving themselves from the tragedy that took place at the heart of the narrative||
ah i feel that
Rashomon - || that i felt somewhat when watching, though i meant figure out in the sense that people were saying it had some significance based on the time period, which i had no idea what they were talking about. Not in terms of story telling but in terms of historical events ||
way of kings 69 || sadeas getting everything he wants and facing no immediate consequences is almost as bad as daliniar dying ||
LOTR The Silmarillion/The Exile of the Noldor: ||Wow, Fëanor was really a terrible person. I knew he created a large chunk of the magical artifacts that trickled down into the Second and Third Age (the Palantiri, the Silmarils, his grandson creating the Rings of Power), but man this guy was directly responsible for so much terrible shit happening in Middle-Earth.||
the calvin and hobbes strips where they just put some humanist bend into a 6 year old's brain are my least favorite
the good ones are these
I like these when they're done through the eyes of a 6 year old and it feels like Calvin's own voice
the one above is like an xkcd comic lol
The ones where it's just Watterson soapboxing and it's clearly his own words don't work half as well
Yeah lol
That's an example of the latter
It's why I didn't really like his new book either
Feels like being preached to
Knight of seven kingdoms latest ep ||this show is dope as fuck
||
Fr bro
This is the most hilarious thing I've seen someone feel the need to tag
After months of teasing us with “Hollywood News,” Brandon is here to clear the air. When the dust settles, he has news about the Mistborn movie and more. Check out other official news outlets here to learn more about what is coming next:
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/brandon-sandersons-mistborn-stormlight-archive-movie...
He is writing the script for Mistborn, due to turn it in this Summer.
Curious how Sando approaches script writing
He mentions he's written a number of them in the past, so that's a postive, I hope.
I assume Apple will have input to clean his script up.
It's also his story so while it may need cleaning, he will have the essence of Mistborn down
The writing shouldn't be worried about as much as direction imo
I like that the creator, who is both passionate about his work and passionated about turning it into a film, is having so much input.
It bodes well, but it needs the right crew
Crew, you say? 😏
Casting should be fine if Sando is involved
isnt that the essence of newspaper comics from the old days? sometimes a silly lasgana cat and sometimes a socio-political commentary by the author
for adults and the kids
not at all
do you think garfield ever had actual commentary, just in your example lol
i feel like the ones that have commentary are rather focused around it
like bloom county or something
i read garfield every time i had a newspaper in my hand. I can't remember if it had any commentary. but it's been so long and i was a dumb teen
I dont remember if garfield had but I know lots of them do
most of the time its distasteful but thats not the case with calvin and hobbes
a lot of comics do but few are as kid focused as calvin and hobbes

and so i find them more distasteful actually
I think it was called Curtis. It had commentary, right?
Anyone watching the knight of the seven kingdoms
lol curtis
Im very cautious on picking it up
Oh
bloom county was commentary
this was curtis
How is it Qbz
my only complaint is that theyre too short so ima watch 2 every other week i think
yeah id say kotsk is similar quality maybe slightly better
That’s actually what’s making me cautious on it
Because I hate house of the dragon lol
oh really? What do you hate about it
i enjoyed HOTD. Season 1 much more than season 2 though. I have yet to read the book though, despite owning it.
hotd s2 || i did dislike that they sort of meandered and didnt really reach a satisfying seasonal conclusion with the knowledge that they have another season to put the exciting bits in ||
the book is so boring to me, ive tried to read it a couple times
like look at this shit lol
Season 2 I did not like at all
Season 1 was passable
I listened to it on my drive to work instead of reading it
lmfao jesus christ.
that's not even a comic strip at that point
the problem with hotd s2 || is they were too stingy/slow with the progress through the events to give themselves mroe seasons I think. Which means no really exciting events made it into s2, it was all just buildup for s3 ||
I respect this opinion
this almost seems intentionally meta like they know this isnt something hed actually say
HOTD season 2 || I don’t know if it’s just me but Rhaenyra is realllly fucking Boring ||
the "what a boring day this turned out to be" seems to be the punchline in a way
I think season 2 being an 8 episode season instead of the usual 10 hurts it a bit
8 episode seasons are a crime
hotd season 2 || i remember in the 8th episode thinking... wait how are they possibly gonna get to exciting event X. Wait why are they wasting time with this stupid mud wrestling. Wait how can there only be 15 minutes left... oh no....... ||
but there's comics like that every week
which, to be sure, i actually like this one lol
but it's still very clear
and there's not an inherent issue with a comic strip doing this, i just find most of the calvin and hobbes ones to be less like
making a joke
and more about zinging culture. and when you're doing that by preaching base level liberal humanism through a child it gets boring quick
Every 2 fucking years
vs bloom county which is an absurd view of culture
Show isn’t good enough to warrant all that
And it seems like George RR Martin agrees
im not 100% sure but i think i read somewhere kotsk is gonna be every year
i definitely heard that about some show im watching recently
HOTD KOTSK || budgeting should work a lot better since no dragons ||
Abbreviating KOTSK makes my brain pause for some reason
Every time
My game of thrones obsession died 3 years ago. I heard Sanderson never read any of his stuff is going to get a show on a series
So I may actually end up reading, but I don’t really read novels any more
i listened to the way of kings over the past 2-3 weeks, i only got like 2 hours left. It was pretty great i am very excited for the show
That’s good to hear. I’ve heard mixed reviews on Sanderson’s stuff so I’ve been hesitant to pick it up
I've heard mostly overwhelming praise of Sanderson
But I also don't use sites like twitter or reddit much
Fire & Blood/HOTD show ending ||Massive negative for me is they're seemingly turning Rhaenyra into generic goody 2 shoes who is just getting screwed over by everyone, removes all the nuance from her character. I much rather prefer her anger being a flaw of hers instead of a consequence of being screwed over.||
Ive heard his worldbuilding is much better than his character writing.
The stuff I've read of Sanderson's I would say his characters can be good
But it's not top tier work
I like Sanderson's characters in the Stormlight Archive a lot. His worldbuilding is where I criticize more often.
Magic systems absolutely, they're great
thats where he loses me a bit
his worldbuilding is like a city painted from cardboard at times
I can understand that
hes so obsessed with demonstrating that theres a hard strict rule system that backs all this, like organic chemistry or something, that you can balance these magical equations, that that over the top explainnig ruins the scenes that actually show off the magic
I was told it had Malazan level world building and I really doubt that praise but maybe it does
No
nah its not malazan level.
It doesn't have that
yep, and if you ever take his YouTube lecture series, he admits that he loves doing this. so expect it haha
Idk who told you that but that is incorrect
Malazan may be one of fantasy's most realized worlds
Wheel of Time is both so good yet can have some real lows
I also haven’t even finished Malazan yet but it’s been so long I think I may have to restart
if you wanna jump into a massive series like that id rec malazan over wot as long as you dont mind some darkenss
it is not a happy world
This is why I don’t like reading too many things at the same time
i'm ok with crapsack worlds.
I actually say the opposite depending on how much fantasy you've read
sanderson world building has a lot less character than malazan
I wouldn't call Malazan beginner friendly
is epic fantasy ever?
oh yeah the rec isnt that its more approachable. it might be the least appraochable series ive read. But its real good if you can stick with it
More so than Malazan
Is Sanderson more on that edge? Would you consider it better than asoaif?
definitely not
It depends what you're looking for
Im trying to build up enough hype in myself to actually pick it up lol
it's more magical and there are aspects that can maybe compare. but at the same time they are very different books
sando only truly excels at his magic system and story telling everything else is aight
but i would choose ASOIAF over stormlight and mistborn any day
Ehhhhh
This is pretty consistent with what everyone says except people say he has great worldbuilding
Again I think it's important to know what you're looking for
Id choose a finished series first
yeah asoiaf loses a lot of points in my book for not being finished and having almost no hope of ever being finished
i think the magic system in tsa sis like good but i never viewed as like
high level art
it's great. that way I can never be disappointed with the ending.
what is an example of a good magic system to you
high level art lol
For me at least, I’m not exactly looking for anything. I just like to read stuff before the show popularizes it
Well then that's your answer
u know what u caught me because now that im thinking about it im just thinking about anime battle systems
Read mistborn book 1
you have plenty of time on stormlight, the mistborn movies are coming first
If you like it, cool, if not then you know Sando isnt for you
and those are more visual so i guess i think more about them
then definitely not ASOIAF lol. go with Mistborn or Stormlight. Mist if you want something more digestible; storm if you want massive epics with a lot to keep track of.
I liked Malazan and like 80% of the ASOIAf books so maybe I’ll give it a try sometime this year
Man....Stormlight is going to be so expensive. Good thing Apple has money.
Maybe I’ll even try to use it for Chinese practice
stormlight is literally anime
More or less, yeah
im not gonna lie i basically view it as like a marvel movie
in book form
but like good marvel
marvel when they were movin in they prime
I don't read Sanderson for depth, I read him for entertainment
It’s a different vibe than got , but it’s cozy and nice and and high production value and the plot is good
the action can be Marvel, but the story is much better
exactly what I mean I know some people look deeper into sanderson but like when they mean hype moments and aura
thats why I read stormlight
If people want depth in the story, then yeah Sanderson isn't it
But he doesn't have to be
like come on man TSA full ||"honor is dead Ill see what I can do" have we peaked as a human species ||
Mistborn maybe. Stormlight I think there's some depth to be gleaned from it
but i'm still on mistborn 2, maybe it gets crazier
Yes but in comparison, which again not the best series to compare Stormlight to, but ASOIAF
oh well yeah
But they are going for different things
Are his books heavy on romance?
No
not really
grrm is my seinen king lol
i really dont think grrm is as bleak as people make him out to be
or at least asoiaf
Eh it's less about being bleak as it is being filled flawed characters and interesting story turns that differ from fantasy norms
it can get pretty fucking dark, there is some light. but this is definitely a harsh world
I heard in an interview that Martin shows that stuff to show the reality of humans being terrible and it's not orcs and monsters who do it
malazan is the darkest, then asoiaf. Then wot/stormlight
And that actually made me understand him a bit more
yeah he's definitely said this in interviews
Because before I used to think what was the point other than reveling in misery
have any of you read the black company
no but I think Goro told me to?
I own a volume but not read yet
tone is like malazan
I just don't understand how people like King and GRRM write, what with their gardener style. Just mostly making shit up as they go; i'm sure there are some things planned out, but they both seem to let the story tell them what to write. I guess it's not too different from week-to-week Shonen?
I think the kind of gardner thing is played up a bit
i mean i think hes said he just writes like characters out of timeline
and then finds a way to put it together almost
These are people who read voraciously and have written tons of things
The likelihood is they have subconscious knowledge of how a good story is going to go and are practiced as hell at writing stories
Couple that with vivid imaginations and there you go
I try to write stories and I have to plan like Brandon. am I a simpleton smh?
I think it's just everyone be differently set for different things
I mostly write short fiction for myself because it's entertaining
grmm aint the best representative of the gardener style. He shows how it can grow out of control and be impossible to finish
I guess i dont know if theres a good exmaple but comparing george to sanderson is comparing.... finishing tons of books to being on the same book for 13 years
but with GRRM it's really bad
King sucks at endings.
I will read George's older stuff one day. i hear he was big into sci-fi, I want to see what he can do
listen man
from the two books
ive read
its not THAT bad
theyre just like okay
i read the short story sand kings from george and enjoyed it
ok then. once Mistborn 3 is done, I will read Salem's Lot I swear
I need to break up the fantasy
damn that's short
I’m so excited for the fallout finale
nice then i guess i am ready to start Fallout season 2
Way of kings 23 || rock is hilarious bro this chull dung joke is killing me ||
oh yeah the finale is out tonight
I shilled it here for years
Have you checked out his new work yet?
In what sense?
Brandon is the author whose worldbuilding focus and elements have been finally been what I wanted from fantasy for forever
Any of yall play the TCG for OP?
even in his works I haven't enjoyed much, that has been the constant
so if you can do that Buffy, I am your first buyer
My GOAT
Wrong chat my b, resume your convo
Why
I think there's plenty to be found in his books, even in Mistborn
But I am of the opinion that any depth in the story depends on readers
If a kid reads Animal farm and thinks it's just about animals and doesn't get the social commentary, does it not have any? And etc etc
Good but in subsequent books there are way better stuff anyway
OB || You cannot have my pain ||
And that part from RoW. If you haven't caught up
oh i'm just being sarcastic with that
I finished row lol
Nice
I’m reading the blade itself rn while i wait for my dad
Jus twas reading it before gym
Gonna go read more when i finish
I meant || 4th ideal scene|| RoW
my fav moment of anything I have read or watch that I can remember
That moment is pretty cool…
Nice
I think the other scene just sticks out because it also includes my probably favorite character…
Just thinking about that gets me teary eyed
Reading always gets me sobbing
You will like it
Azua is almost done with Laok
book3 of that
Dark Tower series spoilers ||inserting himself into the story annoyed me, the ending is cyclical and just starts you right back at the beginning, the crimson king was beyond anti climactic ||
Demn I liked that aspect
Dark Tower series || I have to add, I realllllly despise "meta" fiction. And Dark Tower is essentially fantasies biggest to do that||
Ironically the book I liked the most is the one with the least of that kinda stuff
Wizard and Glass
Fair
first law time
I have a job
the new naked gun was pretty good
Are you sure
Fallout s2 end || pretty good . A lot to work with for s3. A good mix of resolution and cliffhanger. I tend to dislike cliffhanger but I do feel complete arcs had resolution within s2. Lucy tracked down her dad, Cooper got answers on his daughter, max left the brotherhood and found Lucy ||
Fallout s2 end ||we also got the enclave as the big bad for s3 and beyond. btw idk if you noticed, but the actor who played the president also voiced the super mutant that grabbed cooper and healed him||
||I was wrong, it was Ron Perlman.||
About 80 pages into the blade itself ||kind of getting a feel for it but it’s still got the new fantasy syndrome for me where I don’t really know what’s going on and there’s a lot of names but that’s part of the fun is trying to get used to it all||
Blade itself ||would say I’m probably enjoying jezal the most rn||
||wish I could enjoy it for the first time, takes a bit to get goung but ur in for a great time||
craaaap i still need to watch that New Naked Gun trailer ||The OJ joke alone is worth the price of admission, too bad I waited until it was out of theaters....||
lol that was a banger for sure
The blade itself do not open wombat || interesting, Jezal was my least favorite pov for quite a while
||
As it should be 😂
Mistborn book 2 ||Act 2 beginning|| ||Well, now I'm starting to wonder if the siege will be the entirety of the plot outside of Sazed and Marsh's journey. I still wonder if Vin will need to travel to the physical location of the Well of Ascension. Again, props to Brandon for making the Lord Ruler's fall have serious ramifications within the political machinations and culture of Luthadel. The Watcher being Hoid is my thought process for now.||
WoA || isn't that first aspect so cool and really interesting ||
WoA ||Aspect?||
WoA|| I don't think I know any other media which focuses on the postmortem of a revolution in this way ||
WoA ||I can't remember what media I've experienced before that has this kind of focus. But it's definitely interesting in this book and adds a great deal of nuance.||
WoA || The line that Ham says to Elend in that context was really hitting ||
I forget what it was specifically but I just remember it being that way
WoA ||Ham is my favorite side character in the group.||
WoA ||I think mine was Breeze ||
||I think this whole fucking series is so plot focused that I can't enjoy the characters and get connected with them as much as I could have ||
WoA ||I like Breeze's wit, he's good with that. So far, I've enjoyed what the plot is. I see complaints online that his characters are a bit one dimensional in this series, but I quite enjoy them, tropes and all.||
WoA is the best in that regard for me
WoA || I almost never care for plot that much so ye ||
Well, according to Brandon's lectures, plot is character.
I don't watch his lectures
so with that in mind Mistborn ||if you're not liking the plot, it may be because for you brandon failed to deliver on the characters||
|| I like the plot enough. I just don't care for the plot and it's more plot focused ||
I think like
|| Story and plot have that distinction ||
I agree with the point he's making but it's not his approach in Mistborn I feel
I would highly recommend that lecture series. Brandon, while not the end all be all of writing tips, is really good at analyzing the genre of fantasy and sci-fi.

I know what I want from the genre
with those, I think with constant exposure, it would be subconsciously warped to his
I am a highly impressionable person
Oh, you are, eh? You should watch Buffy.....
Because I said so, and I am impressing upon you
I have been mentioning buffy here long before you joined buddy
or even before your old account joined...
I forgot 'cause of the alzeimer's smh
Wait, WTF did I say "I save that knowledge for OP" lmfao I know so little compared to half the nerds on this damn server
is Buffy worth watching for the first time in 2026
yes
Yes, but it will feel dated in some of its references, humor, and use of language no longer accepted by today's standards (the r-slur for example)
ye those
season 1 it is getting its footing and only 12 episodes. season 2 and 3 is where it blows people away
Also the internet spoiled me on something I presume is pretty major
Buffy || Buffy walks in to her mom dead on the couch ||
Just watch the series and enjoy is what I say.
Buffy shines the most in its dialogue, the writers and Joss Whedon were fantastic with it
Like, you ever hear how people talk about Marvel dialogue and quips in a negative light nowadays? Buffy is where that started. Except it's good when Buffy does it
I have pretty similar tastes to the two of you so it must be good
azua respects my tastes
now time to say HoA is 0.5/5
so I can get -10000000 social creds from him
perfectly balanced, as all things should be
@sand cypress
btw
you should try Firefly

also @limber urchin
watch Firefly
oh i'm well aware. one day i sweeeear
How good can it be it's only one season long

~~You could literally say Firefly to be Whedon stealing from either Bebop or Outlaw Star ~~
Why does Twin Peaks have such high praise?
Im guessing its good
I love Twin Peaks. But, yeah, pretty much what Red said lol
It's really hard to explain without experiencing it. And also, it helps to have some context going into the show in regards to how Lynch directs and/or writes.
not spoilers, but just cultural context to what the show's original aim was combined with the weirdness of how Lynch creates art.
Twin Peaks is a lot of things
Twin Peaks season 3 is a fucking masterpiece though
Lynch’s magnum opus. But I kind of broadly apply that blanket to the entire series
agree
Even though season two is what it is lol
Twin Peaks season 3 ||That atomic sequence is a religious experience, along with the woodsman's "this is the water" speech.||
I watched the whole series already
Oh well then I guess it wasn't for you then. That's OK.
I liked everything till mid s2
That's exepcted
it then picks back up with S3. though you could easily hate S3 for all I know
sorry it picks back up right at the end of S2
Twin peaks series end || the teasing of supernatural was fun, but it got way too much into it for me ||
That's what I love about it
Twin peaks s3 || I think this season created more questions than answers and the fact it had a forced ending was even worse ||
Fire Walk With Me too. It’s really evident where Lynch takes predominant control of the reigns, whereas I think seasons one and two are a noticeably more collaborative effort between Lynch and Frost
S3 ||Was it forced? I never knew if Lynch had his hands tied or not, cause I really liked it.||
oh shit I forgot about Fire. Love that one too

I’ll give the show credit with its settings and atmosphere for sure. Was pretty scary.
Twin Peaks S3 end ||More questions are pretty much always the point with Lynch. So much of his creative process is defined by the concepts of dreams and allowing the audience room for personal interpretations. On the surface, Twin Peaks is a surreal mystery, but it’s also self aware and sort of meta-fictional.||
Twin Peaks S3 ||The second season was a cancellation. The third season wasn’t||
i just mean the ending of 3 only
i know about s2's issue
Twin Peaks S3 ||No. It’s very intentional. I’m not sure about how much time they were crunched for producing the episodes, but they got to depict the story they wanted to without being forced to end it prematurely||
ok good to know 'cause I love it dearly
Twin peaks s3 end || I have a problem with loose interpretation when there is so much left unanswered that’d it would be impossible to find without more context ||
Twin Peaks S3 end ||Emmys should be given for screams after that one.||
Twin Peaks S3 end ||I guess it depends on what you mean by more context. I believe the series intentionally strays away from the very idea of context because so much of it’s structure is defined by self-acknowledgment, by which I mean the show/characters becoming aware of their existence as fiction (using dreams as a metaphor). Which sounds complicated and maybe a bit pretentious, but what really makes Twin Peaks beloved, above all else, is the sincerity in which the show is made with. The tone is strangely fun, as it shifts between tragedy, outright absurdity, and surreality.
Lynch, despite his massive popularity, is still viewed as a cult director and I’d generally agree that his style is make-or-break, depending on the viewer||
Twin peaks s3 ending || By context I'm talking about the situation like the first FBI agent to investigate twin peaks who goes missing. His name is brought up once or twice again, but that is it. His car had the words "Let's Rock" which the fake Diane would say later in the show to Albert and Gordon and I don't know what the connection is. The "Billy" situation is another, everything about Judy, what actually happened to Briggs, what was the deal with the little boy who was watching Dougie's car and the girl with him, what came of One Eyed Jacks after Renault died, what purpose did Red serve, the zombie drunk man in the cell, the sick boy Bobby saw in the car, and so much more which is too open to interpretation. ||
Twin Peaks S3 end ||Lmao I love the “Billy” thing happening in the background, cause it’s seemingly so random. I think it’s just the guy whose truck Richard was driving when he ran over the little kid, though. He has a scene where he’s talking to Andy and they schedule a time to meet up, but then the guy never shows. “Let’s Rock” is something that the Arm (or the Man from Another Place) first says during his introduction in the third episode of the show, and it’s just a phrase that’s used to link Chester Desmond’s disappearance and Diane’s tulpa to the Black Lodge/other worldly stuff. I was never under the impression that the phrase had any deeper meaning beyond that.
I don’t really understand why it would be a necessity to figure out the exact details of what happened to Major Briggs, because I think the show makes a good enough effort to establish his connection to the supernatural and use him to solidify the concept, or theme, of dreaming as it relates to the show. I think they’re at least able to get away with leaving that completely up to the imagination, as long as we can assign meaning to it (which I think we can).
Judy would be an entire conversation, but it’s whatever’s in Sarah. Obviously there’s meaning to it, but no doubt that it’s purposefully ambiguous. The point is that we can theorize believable and satisfying conclusions about that with the context the show gives us.||
Dune News Latest - || https://vxtwitter.com/DiscussingFilm/status/2019156702600257725?s=20 ||
Twin Peaks S3 ||Speaking of which, what was your thoughts on Audrey's final scene?I heard it was theorized it was her realizing she was in a tv show. EDIT: But, like, also meta in that she realized she was playing a character and she's now much older than she used to be; like reality was finally catching up to her.||
Just got done rereading Eragon for the first time in a long time. Weird timing
I have no strong feelings about there being a show
All i pray is that the title isn’t DUN3 or some bullshit
It wonr be
But imagine
Dune series ||Did the decide to ditch Dune Messiah??||
i mean they have been consistent in naming
assume so
I guess better to avoid any issues
Dune Series ||even though it's pretty damn important as to why it is called that||
does ASOIF have any major apparent retcons/plotholes?
Yeah told you
There is one weird funny one I remember
ASOIAF first two books ||I believe George has stated that Renly had green eyes in one book and then blue eyes in another and then he retconned it as him having blue/green eyes later.||
There are weird problems too, that George probably coud've done better on
AGOT ||When Drogo melts gold in a cooking pot to pour over Viserys's head, people have pointed out that it's impossible to melt gold like that.||
But that's a nitpick that ultimately doesn't matter
They'd all be considered soft retcons, nothing major
ASOIAF ||Tyrion is extremely agile in the 1st book, GRRM changed that in later novels cause he didn't want Tyrion to be a "trickster dwarf" kinda character. In Book 3 Robb's wife is described as having child birthing hips, but in the next book when Jaime meets her he describes her as having narrow hips||
There are retcons that George has spoken about but that never actually occur in the books. Rather, they are retcons he either decided before writing the story, or as he went along. But you'd never know if he never told us. Example ||I could swear he said that originally Jon and Ayra were supposed to get together. Also, there was supposed to be a five year time skip, but he decided to not go through with it.||
Oh, I didn't know that second one. Neat.
Twin peaks s3 end || yeah his trailer door was left open, implying he was killed. I didn't really like any of the bar segments with the random girls and the Audrey scenes were way too long.
I don't like how Briggs was handle because of how much was off-screen. I just really wanted more out of his character. Also, the head of the body missing might have to do the fact his head was seen floating throughout the season? Well. I'm not even sure that was his real body.
Not really into the concept of Judy because it takes away from Bob. The whole show was focused on this entity, just for a Phillip (who is another character which needed more imo), to bring up Judy. The show would have worked perfectly without needing an even higher power. ||
i finished way of kings. very good. onto the next one
Favorite character/storyline?
twok || kaladin not even close. And colliding with dalinar's story at the end is excellent. It kinda leaves shallan as the odd one out, kinda like a third wheel. Theres some interesting stuff there but it feels so disconnected comparatively. As soon as kaladin made it to the shattered plains, i was anticipating the moment he would interact with dalinar in some way||
|| kaladin's story might be my favorite one-book arc, its up there for sure. i loved it ||
Twok ||him going back to save dalinar activated this childlike excitement when i first read it. Not even sure why. One of my favorite parts in the whole series||
Twok ||although shallan was my favorite pov in twok i just love the setting and the worldbuilding in it||
twok || its perfect, its the redemption of his troubles with amaram ||
Netflix promised a "self enforced" 45 day theatrical window during todays hearing 😭
we are so cooked
well i was never gonna buy paramount so its good for me
this is one area where i kind of just want monopolies to win so i dont have to have like 7 subscriptions
Paramount is owned by the Ellisons
If that's who you want in control of your IP, that's your prerogative
it feels like there is a clear third choice but we are perceived to only have two 😭
Being
40 billion $ debt says otherwise
Yeah they weren't gonna be able to hold on
WB made a lot of really really dumb decisions for years
However much you blame Netflix ways for loss of good shows and what not
they have a good success rate
And good business
Thing is I don't even like Netflix
I don't enjoy lesser of two evils, but this is where we be
I would rather WB exist as they did in the past. I would rather less mega entertainment corps
One direction was loss of quality and another direction was Ellisons
we were cooked from the beginning
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 3 ||OMG this egg horse scene is the most precious thing. BTW did they shave egg's actor bald for this or is he wearing a bald cap? ||
I love how this is the third HBO adaption of an unfinished Westeros series
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 3 ||omg the banter of Dunk and Egg is so good. them imitating each other is so funny||
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 3 ||did they just make fisting sound profound? WTF ||
Game of Thrones might genuinely be the worst of the three shows even before it got bad lol
eh maybe I'm a prisoner of the moment
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 3 h||uh, that fortune teller kinda spoilt the entire series huh? She didn't even tag it smh||
||lmao editing on the Egg reveal is a bit melodramatic ||
overall it's a fine adaption so far, a bit cruder than the book, but refreshing.
lol def crazy take
I defintely like House of the Dragon season 1 and most of 2 more than GOT 1 and 2
I think GOT climbs to higher peaks but lower lows after that so I'm torn
This show is a cute little tale
it probably will be my least favorite, but it's got the least wrong with it too
HoTD didn't even have one completely good season...
💀
You didn't like season 1?
Half of season one was really good
which half was bad lol
I took multiple months to be able to finish the second half
wow I thought the second half was the stronger
House of the Dragon ||did the actor switch take you out of it?||
House of the Dragon || More so bunch of tropes I don't like being used to further the story ||
HOTD S1/S2 ||What tropes in particular, Goro? I know there’s a lot of variances from the books but they have still captivated me.||
And just I cba to care for any character other than || Damian ||
House of the Dragon ||which tropes?||
lmao Damian XD
I don't think you need to tag a name btw
Or w/e matt Smith was
Daemon
Hotd|| The Same name confusion of Aegon ||
Very historically on point ig
hotd|| he's interesting, but he is a bit a of a groomer and a murderer ||
But like that started where I stopped enjoying it
HOTD S1/S2: ||How is that progressing the story? There’s high key a pretty clear difference. One Aegon is Rhaenyra’s half-brother and the other Aegon is her son.||
