The Stormlight book lengths aren’t a huge bother to me (right now) but I can’t go about reading 1200 page books back to back to back to back to back to back
jesus that is a lot though
OP then was like 1500
There’s no way
surely OP has 1K named characters or close to it?
No way one piece has 2500 named characters
But, Storm of Swords is a book like no other Muk, you will like that one.
Ah
and mixed them
lol
2500 is kinda insane for a book series or am I tripping
Buffy
you would like The Darkness that comes before
The series name is The Second Apocalypse
Well, for ASOIAF, George has the habit of just naming even the most inconsequential of characters that have little to no impact on the narrative.
They're both hacks
Same Mark Lawrence author?
I know that name
Do the leather bound small print books rip easy. Would be nice to be able to read with my hand again
I have one small paperback of the second book and it can be a bit annoying to read
the hardcovers are a bit easier, but digital is the easiest for sure
I hate digital reading
i mostly read digital and then buy the books afterwards for the shelf
Unless you mean the kindle or something
as i get older, I have to take into considering how i treat my neck and the phone is ultra helpful
what's up
just watched Werckmeister Harmonies
Chicken butt

The setting being so anti of robots and machine. The most notable one that started the stories being against techno-optimism. A hero which goes fully destructive path. Openly hostile to the idea of charismatic leaders. Going against the sci-fun stories' of utopian society or fun space opera or space opera which doesn't treat the mass annihilation with the gravitas it has.
Take that to Dune which has Butlerian Jihad, human computers called Mentats. Bene Gesserit and years of experimentation and politics. The fabrication of a messiah. And then Paul’s actions unleash a devastating civil war on the universe in which billions will die. The moment when he overthrows the emperor isn't met with triumph or catharsis, but with catalyzing a universe wide genocide. It's more of a cautionary tale about fanaticism and charismatic leaders. And he expresses very little remorse for it, and does nothing to try to make amends for it || Dune book 1
@limber urchin
such a transcendental movie man rip bela tarr
before i read, is this about the deconstruction aspect?
Yes
ok
just some parts
Dune book 1 ||That first paragraph does bring some nice context. I'm guessing Herbert was trying to go against the typical sci-fi grain when he wrote the first book? For the second paragraph, I was kind of able to piece that part of the puzzle together myself; Paul definitely felt like some kind of warning about the consequences of power and seeing the future, but obvious you wrote it better within the context of fanaticism and charisma. Because of his visions, I 100% expect Paul to cause real and lasting harm across other planets.||
Note: I will eventually read Dune Messiah
Messiah is just him going "People didn't understand the point? I am gonna beat it to their head"
but not reallyy but also yesss
Avengers Doomsday News - || there has been a lot of reports that MCU is basically reusing the Kang story line and giving it to Doom ||
Also when people like GRRM cite Dune as their inspiration
they are most probably talking about book 3
because that's where the || house politics || like that ASOIAF has is present
but also people sometimes give Dune unnecessary credits
like talking about how "first scifi which discussed real-world issues" or "trope of galactic empire"
first can be dated back to Frankenstein and probably even further back
and the second is in a 1920s work
Did Herbert or his son write that one?
ok
personally I would recommend till God Emperor of Dune
but even I won't want to reread them
okay yeah I can see that
I loved this series so much
I think that's because he looks like Nolan's Scarecrow in Cillian Murphy
I don't want that again so please be someone else
He doesn't exactly look like him but like that photo of his give similar vibe as cillian's scarecrow in nolan's trilogy
He gives me that vibe anyway
They arent 1 to 1 in looks but that dude def gives Nolan's Scarecrow vibes
Which, are my least favorite vibes for Scarecrow since the first time he was on Batman the Animated Series
I can see him play 2 face
that'd be incredible
I could do with him being 2face
Or even black mask
If they are intent on doing another version of the Long Halloween, Batman the Long Halloween ||he could be a Falcone, Albert makes sense||
Also just want to throw it out there cause I feel like he's an under appreciated villain, but I think Stan could play a solid Firefly
Dave Filoni & Lynwen Brennan will reportedly replace Kathleen Kennedy as the new Co-Presidents of Lucasfilm.
Brennan is getting promoted from General Manager and will oversee executive duties, while Filoni will lead all creative development.
(Source: https://t.co/zRRk9aTLJ1)
The insane 180 in reputation Filoni has gotten over the years is crazy 😭
From being worshipped during the sequel era to being mocked for having obvious favorites
get ready for 10 years of Ahsoka slop
kathleen kennedy gave us andor
and also the last season of clone wars
and also produced some of the best films of the 20th century
Kathleen hate is highkey misogyny
Honestly for the sequels I only blame her for not enforcing a plan as a producer
But also I blame JJ and Rian for writing trash
My only critique of Kathleen is that she’s very hands off when she needs to be more assertive tbh
I never understood what she did that was so bad to some
rian tried doing something different but terrio and JJ shat the bed so hard there was no consistency in that sequel trilogy
Yeah I like TLJ more than the other sequels but that’s like comparing piss to crap
I appreciate it for being interesting
yeah TLJ is a pretty weak film on its own but at least it tried doing something different
TROS ended up reversing all that and also being one of the worst pieces of major franchise filmmaking ever
Rise of Skywalker was absolutely abysmal
me and my friend who went to watch it could only laugh when it ended
which one's the || somehow palpatine returned || star wars all
TROS
It sucks because I think the last jedi coulda set up some interesting threads but tbh were probably too different for standard star wars fans to accept
Rise of Slopwalker
Not saying Last Jedi was my favorite movie ever but I think it did some nice things that a lot of fans didnt like because it challenged some of the ideas in Star Wars that are held highly. Not that it's wrong for them to not like it, I do the same for franchises that I feel do a disservice to the franchise. However not as venomous as they did
I’d say it’s very interesting thematically, but I also feel like it’s always trying to “one up” the viewer
I can understand that view
And don't necessarily disagree
I also just like that Rian took it in a unique direction. Unfortunately, it was doomed to fail, most star wars fans don't really want conventional threads and concepts to be too pushed. Which in turn lead to the harsh overcorrection that JJ did that led to one of the worst movies in a major franchise Ive seen
lol
You guys banned a long time user for saying something misogynistic
Interesting use of the Chad image
She also gave us the Acolyte
So
i'm fine with the acolyte
but its not as if its completely her fault and that she's the problem
that's a flawed viewpoint
imo its gonna be worse under filoni
i doubt we'll get anything near what we got like andor
I stopped watching Star Wars content after I think season 1 of the Mandolorian
watch andor
Maybe I'll give it a shot, we will see
I need time I think before going back to Star Wars
It's been so over saturated
lmao sure
Concept art
Quoting respectful huff (@alexqarbuckle)
︀
don’t know why but the red gloves make him look like a character in a Kojima game. Ping Pongman
but andor is perhaps the best show of this decade so far
lmao
I have heard great things about Andor
Stuck his right leg in a tub of black paint
But the franchise rn is just tired for me, I'll let it rest for a while longer
Right now my focus is finishing off the Witcher Saga now that I've reread the books I started a while ago
Couldn't think of a better way on the spot to make a joke
I'm not perfect

You lose access to Nitro?
no he likes doing that

You are a certified menace
Do you not have nitro
Also thots on Warbreaker
I’m starting that next
I probably should get nitro just to help support discord for how much i use it
but i dont care about emotes at all
I don’t know if this is a reliable source
Have you guys seen the “theres a secret final episode” floating around for stranger things
The ending was so mid people have gone full delusional
Buncha people who never felt the sting of a bad ending
Sometimes shit just doesnt stick the landing. One could argue Stranger Things had been on the road to tumultuous endings since they fucked up season 4's imo
Stranger Things series ||that and for a horror series, they are so toothless in killing anyone of any significance whatsoever. Gotta have the sacrifice character: Barb,Bob, Billy, Eddie, Kali||
Stranger things end|| im less worried about them not killing people. If characters end satisfying then its fine. It just felt like there was never any stakes and that Vecna never ever had the upper hand. Hell he lost to derek bro. And we also just have like 20 million characters that should be chopped in half||
Stranger things end ||it is pretty funny they have a sacrificial lamb each season tho||
You mfers and your hate for S4 😭
actually ill go
Stranger Things End - ||
- S1
- S2
- S4
- S3
- S5
honestly if they didn't show the mind flayer in S2 it would go below S4 also
||
I dont really get why everyone here hates it lol
It built up well
Then they dropped the vol 2 and it undid all their work
It was depressing
If you enjoyed S4's ending, idk if we value the same kinda stuff
Can’t wait for his face to get ruined by acid/fire for the umpteenth time
Maybe even cause a cat lightly scratched his face
This is a Captain Marvel dig right? Cuz ||that’s the canon reason why Nick Fury wears an eyepatch||
Mhm

I’m sorry this stranger things cope is so funny beo
I keep seeing it pop up
Secret 9th episode tomorrow
gonna tell my grandkids I survived thru a pandemic and the 3 worst tv show endings of all time
Yknow what if there rrallt does rnd up being a secret episode
Which their wont
But if there is touche duffer brothers
You got me
oh yeah meant to say @leaden depot im on 1997 of peanuts lol
thats 47 years out of 50 done
A good year 68
1968 is fucking nuts in a lot of ways, both in media and in the world
I mean, 1969 does have the fuckin moon landing, but man
Absolute martian man hunter || https://fxtwitter.com/javiercaster/status/2001705206195868091/photo/ || I dont know if youre keeping up with absolute martian man hunter but i bought these prints
Nice
wasnt going to miss a chance to get quality signed prints of one of my favorite comics
for lowkey evil reasons but yeah
Rodriguez has become a favorite of mine off AMM alone
Dan Mora must be chained to a room by DC 😭
ST END - ||I think looking at it all together the ending wasn't as strong but at the point of watching S4 when i didn't know what would happen in S5 at all, it was was a interesting setup...now that i know what they did with everything it was bad, this is because i was under the idea that that final scene looking into the collision was going to be the opening for the mind flayer from S2. S4 was the first time where i felt like the kids "Lost" and we didn't even know if Max was going to come back, but the Duffers pussed out. Unlike previous seasons where the story beats were their plan just magically working out and then everything worked out exactly as they wished. Maybe they had a sacrifice here and there (Bob S2, Billy S3), but never did they Lose. This was a complete failure on their part which is what made S4 interesting, not to mention losing Max who i thought was a top two character in the show was a great scene and moment between Lucas and Max. Even if they gave a small nod of her coming back, i didn't think she was going to be back healthy at all. The season gave that early GoT vibe where the ending was Bleak but it made it exciting for whats coming even if what came was absolute piss. Now in terms of what i didn't like about season 4, i didn't like they rought back Hopper but even after S3 i wasn't surprised, everything about S3 felt like a fake out so i knew he would come back that's why i wasn't as mad about that. ||
Why
ATLA/Legend of Korra: @reef heart so ||korra canonically is dead||
great
she dies so the next avatar is born into the earht kingdom
aw shoot sryt
@distant minnow
ATLA Anime News Latest - || i think the next one is after Korra, but i hate that they introduced so much technology so fast in Korra, it ruined the entire series for me. Just made everything so generic ||
Avatar the last Airbender new series ||yea and she truly fucks the world lol||
Legend of Korra season 2 ||man I can't believe Bryke took an axe to their IP with the bullshit decisions made in this season||
atla spoiler||Ppl say korra was a bad avatar but she never was able to learn to be an adult by herself and was always protected so it was easy to manipulate her and she wasnt as strong in the Avatar state because she wasnt a spiritual meanig she was weaker||
Avatar the last airbender / legend of korra: yeah that adds up with the whole ending, i'm ||surprised the next avatar can still exist after what she did, i thought she reset the whole system or something||
@frank rivet agreed, i grew up watching the OG so that childhood-childlike feeling was just gone
Mods ask us to include series name on each post btw
I've had entire convos lulusia'd for not adhering to this
ATLA Latest - || its not that shes a bad avatar, its that the story put her at the origins of the avatar without any build up, and not to mention she didn't get to grow with the audience like Aang ||
yo how do you ger the little bit before the spoiler part of the msg it isnt working for me
Legend of Korra ||yea this is fine but Bryke severing the connection to the past lives and leaving the spirit portals open was such a braindead choice for a still young IP||
This is how ||this part is in the spoiler||
ATLA, Korra, and The Dragon Prince
||The reality is that Avatar was a group effort lead by brilliant world builders in Mike and Bryan and a brilliant writing team lead by Aaron Ehasz. We can see the strength and weakness of these minds via the sequel series
Korra had incredible world building concepts and magic systems but poor overall direction and character writing
The Dragon Prince had incredible overall direction and character writing, but a relatively bland world and magic system.||
Legend of korra end spoilers s4 ||opening the spirit gates was the worst thing any avatar has ever done. Knowing how many dangerous spirits exist that humans cannot battle like ko, the forrest spirit and many more. Its downright irresponsible. The avatar is the bridge between the spirit world and the human world. A bridge connect 2 separate places and doesnt just fuse them together. They were separated for good reason.||

Peak. Discourse made me order the two films so I’m gonna rewatch them soon 😼
It’s for sure striking, my one complaint is you lose out on so much detail in the black
Kinda feels like fan scan situation with OP
this is why criterion is important haha
Yeah criterion did a great job
Its a lot
Like losing out on 20% of the shot which is wild
is the left one not supposed to be the original?
I doubt the right is the original idk
lol
It's Marty Supreme day
Legend of Korra end and new series synopsis ||what's even stupider is that Korra saw the result of open spirit portals in Avatar Wan's journey. Humanity forced to retreat to a select few enclaves for survival. And that's exactly what the new series' synopsis is. Such a boneheaded decision by Bryke to go through with that.||
korra end || I'm gonna give them the benefit of doubt first before calling them stupid lol maybe korra is being frame in the new series and its gonna be a twist idk||
idk I always enjoyed atla and korra so I see no reason to doompost yet
Criterion is more accurate and it's hysterical how many takes in this thread are from people who have never even watched the movie
The black levels are way too high in the arrow release
Korra end/new series synopsis ||nah it's not doom posting. But making such fundamental changes to your IP that will reverberate for the entire life span of it like getting rid of the past lives and leaving the spirit portals open to the point the entire planet is fucking dead was just dumb imo. The portals should have 1000% remained closed and the past lives left intact. And maybe they can have these decisions reversed to in-universe shenanigans but still||
I've seen more and more cinephiles hating criterion despite their stuff generally having pretty good transfers, extras and prices
Is it a gatekeeping thing
I think people are just trying to be contrarian with that stuff
People hate on criterion??
Shoulda seen the fit this dude was having about Eyes Wide Shut
It legitimately has some of the best quality and care in their releases and it is clear they love the movies they put out
Yeah, I immediately went to purchase their release of Lady Snowblood upon seeing that comparison to Arrow’s release
If not contrarian, then cynical
Is this a new lady snowblood release from criterion?
I have a copy of lady snowblood from them from a while back
Don’t think so
Then weird
We shall feast tomorrow
What's the second
Eyes Without a Face
I need to browse criterion's stuff again. I know they did a release of No Country for Old Men and I def need that
Two peaks
I'll probably pick up Lady Snowblood and Fantastic Planet during their next sale
got Eyes back in November
I gotta figure out when I’m gonna take the plunge on the Ingmar Bergman collection I bought from them
39 films, a lot of which I’ve never seen before
Speaking of Criterion, I should have bought Elephant Man before it went OOP

Great book
Awesome start to the year
Just a riot
Yeah, it’s cool. It’s like the genesis of psychological horrors centered around plastic surgery. I’m excited to eventually watch it again
when the ending of your tv show is so bad it makes people theorize there is a hidden episode
tuff
Would like to say ST is the new GoT cause of the ending but it was never even close to that level of popularity
I’m curious, as someone who never watched Stranger Things, if the show ever amounted to the quality of HBO’s Game of Thrones or other notable prestige TV shows
i dont think so but i only watched the first two seassons
I missed the hype train
so i guess i dont really know but thats also somewhat of a signal because i stopped because i didnt think it was very good
And apparently dodged a bullet 😭
mussolini: son of the century is an excellent miniseries
so powerful
joe wright's best work since atonement
i started pluribus yesterday got 2 eps in very interesting
pluribus ep 2 || shared rhea's disappointment in the other independent people that no one seemed to be on board to do anything about this ||
DC Absolute Series ||HOLY SHIT||
It’s just peak after peak
ST ending was mid, GoT ending was truly bad
like leaving coffee and water bottles on set bad
I believe season 5, originally an actor was wearing underarmour branded stuff in ST
They went back and edited
So I wouldn't necessarily discern GOT's final season that far off of ST
The whole conspiracy conformity gate sounds a lot like the Indoctrination Theory at the end of Mass Effect 3
Absolute ark M ||so we got man bat, poison ivy, Hugo strange, scarecrow, clayface and mad hatter. Good to know we hitting some lesser known ones. And we got a glimpse of Slade wilson himself.|| @frank rivet @regal root

Absolute Ark M ||I'm sooooo hyped for Absolute Scarecrow I cannot express it enough. Next to Joker he's my favorite Batman villain. Poison Ivy is another I'm hyped to see. All of their Absolute backstories should be interesting||
It sounds like a mass overdose on Copium tbh
It was. Although the Indoctrination Theory was stronger, all that was needed was a cutscene at the end. But that's when Bioware writers still thought they were pumping out classics
about to come out any second now.......
Absolute ark M || I saw some stuff so this version should he interesting. I'm looking foward to seeing Hugo strange and mad hatter in this version. The absolute batman stuff is covered for a good while at this point.||

Crash (1996) ||In the most vague and PG review of this film ever written, Crash basically encapsulates everything I enjoy about Cronenberg’s filmmaking style and takes the reoccurring themes/concepts of his work to absurd lengths, despite being the most grounded film of his that I’ve seen. As mesmerizing as it is worthy of grimace, a staple of Cronenberg’s work that has resulted in me gradually loving his art more as I continue to experience it.||

LOL
Nick Fury was everywhere bro

ST ||So about that secret episode
||
@frank rivet @foggy mirage
what happened
obv
Stranger things ending || even tho that secret episode was a massive copium, that's actually a huge blow and showcases even more how bad the finale was 😭 ||
good finale btw
bro is the only one here who thinks the finale is good
if you pretend it ended in season 2 i think it was a solid finale for me
I think it's a 6/10 ep in a season with just 2/10 to 4/10 eps
I don't say smth is an issue of finale specifically when it's an issue of the whole season
I mean, yeah the whole season was bad, the finale was just the culmination of it being bad
stranger things sure is popular 😭
For me the reason I consider it a good finale is || the cathartic moments like "I believe", the Mike-Hopper convo, and the next generation playing DnD scenes worked ||
|| Rest are just stuff that has been consistently an issue in s5. I don't expect a finale to completely resolve every issue it had from the beginning of the season ||
ST finale
If it had issues which were worse than the ones the season already had, then it would be a bad finale for me
ST finale ||my opinion on the I believe thing was that I didn't really give a shit because it undercut an actual meaningful character death, even though it's easy to poke holes in it. If she is alive, it means this horror show had z e r o teeth and there was no stakes at any point. I also have been detached from characters like Mike because the Duffers havent done shit with him since season 3 I swear. It all varies on opinion, but I was detached from most of these characters due to length of wait for the next season, no meaningful moments or actions by some characters in prior seasons, and the lack of stakes since Stranger Thing's biggest death was arguably Eddie||
ST finale ||writing sacrifice characters so you dont kill any of your main cast is kinda lame imo as well||
I don't disagree
But those issues aren't an issue of the finale but one from the previous seasons tho
But that's the point
Prior seasons sins make the finale a lesser product and feel hollow to me
That also doesn't really negate the things I feel the finale did do wrong outside of the prior seasons
This includes 1 page stories
The page count is the better metric here
For me, the phrase "bad finale" would mean the issues it brings are worse than or extra than the ones which were already there
oooooh i see hog
Yeah lol
And I had a 3 month hiatus lol
I feel bad can have many different ways of being manifested
In total I have read like 8100 issues since november 2020
i'm trying to wrap my head around that
yea agreed sab
I only enjoyed last 30 min ish
I am just stating why I feel it didn't work for me
s4 is literally the worst television I have watched
Yeah I understand and agree with your points
I liked season 4 up until volume 2
90 pages per day basically, so like what, 2.5 hours at most
I just hated every single ep of s4
there were good stuff here and there
but as a whole, I can't say I didn't hate any ep
To me
this has to be manga right? or comics?
ohhhhh ok this makes WAY more sense
So it takes a while to read them lol
90 manga pages would take me like 30 minutes lol
Maybe a bit more
goddamn i read slow
S4 ST ||introduction of Vecna and how brutally he killed was fantastic. It gave the series some bite it needed for being a horror show. The intrigue around who Vecna was imo pretty good and I thought it was fun. Then volume 2 dropped, Eddie died for no reason other than I think Joseph Quinn didn't sign a multi season contract so the duffers lazily killed him off with a Master of Puppets solo which Eddie woulda had to have been a guitar god to know how to play because the timeline of when Master dropped and the year of the show. Couple that with Max not dying somehow???||
S4 ST || I hated Vecna right from Introduction ||
S4 ST || It removed the eldritch horrory feel of the series for me||
S4 ST ||to me, Vecna was just another branch of the possible eldritch horror. Giving a face and mouth to it. At least at first it did||
Tom Cruise visited the set of Shawn Levy’s ‘STAR WARS: STARFIGHTER’ and ended up filming one of the lightsaber duels for the film.
(via https://t.co/i4k1p8glc0)
ST as a whole ||I admit they ruined him as time went on. He became way less threatening over time. I also think they ruined the mind flayer other than the design at the end. But I do think that Vecna at first was dangerous feeling, to me felt like a new weapon of the mind flayer that was immediately ruined. I at least liked him better than the mind flayer attempting to make itself out of humans in season 3, even if the idea of it is terrifying, it wasnt executed phenomenally imo||
I wasn't horrible but it wasn't amazing either
I rather liked that aspect in s3 sab
ST as a whole ||also the Duffers introducing clock imagery with him and then doing absolutely nothing with it. Especially when they had 12 kids in the mind flayer is fucking stupid||
See I like the idea of it
I just think it wasnt done well, or at least convincingly to me
ST for me went shittier and shittier as new seasons came out
I agree
even tho I binged it all last month for the first time
Season 1 shoulda been the end
first and second season were less glaring
It shoulda been an anthology
ST s3 || you are telling me they managed to make a fucking scifi looking shit in the middle of hawkins at the height of cold war ||
Dude don't even get me started
ST s3 ||the russian shit was so fucking stupid. I hated it||
I think part of the reason why s5 worked slightly more for me than s4 is || I didn't have to again spend hours acclimating to them creating a new fucking shit for extending the story || Stranger things s5
Also ST s4 ||Hopper's russian side story was also dumb as hell. I am supposed to believe Hopper not only survived in season 3, was sent to Russia, but Joyce and Murray save his ass???? Come on dude||
ST s4|| And it didn't have the fucking bullying sideplot and the military shit wasn't as annoying in first batch as it was in s4 ||
well I had predicted that back in s3 lmao
|| that the fact hopper survived and is in Russia || ST s4
Nothing wrong with doing it but it hella wasn't believable is my point
It's w/e
its among the parts of s4 I rather enjoyed
cuz like
everything else was worse
😭
Which is crazy to me, because that's the stuff in s4 I disliked the most
ST ||sucks lmaooooooo get rekt bozos||
real
time to post my ratings againnn
9/10
6/10
4/10
2/10
3/10
Stranger things latest season ||did anyone else start disliking most of the main group like I did every new season. Maybe dislike is a strong word but I stopped liking them as much||
I mean yeah
Lmao
9/10
don't remember/10
didn't watch
didn't watch
didn't watch
I haven’t even watched the last season
This is partly due to the Duffers just not giving people shit to do
Also
9/10
7.5/10
6.5/10
8/10
2/10
Did ST get the GoT season 7 and 8 treatment?
atleast S4 was good
ST as a whole ||some of these characters I am indifferent too, I love two, and then I dislike Nancy and Jonathan||
s4 among the worst television
If ya say so
🥱
even got s8 was far better
Stranger things latest season ||I like max and Lucas and Nancy that’s about it. I prefer the quirky side characters like the science teacher||
funnily enough, despite only seeing seasons 1 and 2, I had to spoil myself on some of the story for a personal project. oh well
ST ||Idk how people like Nancy. I didnt like her when she let Barb get chomped||
Yes exactly that's what this whole discussion is
lol
It's fine to have differing opinions
Big if true…
all these ST fans need to watch Welcome to Derry instead.
I am not trying to get anyone to agree with me, more just explaining why I felt things didnt work or what I feel
Welcome to Snoozevile
not sure who here is an ST fan
actual PEAK television
i dont see any
I've already seen Brad Pitt though
smh
so no one is watching welcome to derry
watch it nerd
Like that is unambiguously great TV
The dude from Elden RIng! Poggers.
I don't really do a lot of Stephen King related stuff atm
i never watched ER growing up though
fake old man
I will
buffy's a zoomer posing as a boomer fr
Think they call that a millennial
yeah but I want to be mean to buffy
Then tell him Xenogears is bad
i have been found out
SHITTY
Can't Hardly Wait ||Was rewatching this film while working for the first time in probably 20 years or so. I used to watch it a lot as a kid. I can't tell if it's just nostalgia or it truly holds up, but I genuinely still love this film. But I assume quite a lot of it will feel outdated or lost on people who didn't grow up during this time.||
Now, time to watch Scream 2 for the first time since forever. Let's see if it holds up as well as the first.
is there a reason this movie named itself something grammatically incorrect
like plot wise
I don't think it's grammatically incorrect, right? Like, this is a phrase I've said myself before.
I can hardly wait is the correct grammar
wait shit you might be right
that I know
the movie must've messed me up
i don't have one smh
!!!!
true to that
ye doesnt seem many have made one yet
welcome to derry was great
thankfully never bothered with stranger things
think i dodged a bullet there
at this point i'm afraid to ask what it is. movie review site for users?
its like myanimelist but for movies
and standalone tv shows
(like, only if the show has a season 1)
(but no season 2)
Im only logging stuff Ive watched since creating it
Yeh same
so none of the stuff Ive seen prior
i'm guessing that's also a user review site?
yeah its basically just for logging stuff youve watched
like we use anilist in #other-series
good way to know someone's taste etc
from their favorites
and for recommending
but tastes are questionable
I haven’t read enough adult literature to make one of these
again, Im only doing it for stuff Ive watched since I created it in the first place
and anime movies count

oh its for movies not books
I was mainly talking about goodreads
But movies i watch so infrequently I cba
Actually im gonna make one
this shill
i dont engage with any social features on goodreads but i do like it just for myself to be able to go back and see what i thought about at the time for books i read
I am glad I left good reads. Storygraph feels less advertiser heavy
I just wanted something other than a spreadsheet for tracking my reading
Went ahead and ordered the mistborn trilogy cause it was on sale
I love storygraph
If they did that they would have gotten a way better show
And they wouldnt have to cope with something like conformity gate
@frank rivet
I got the secret finale right here. St end ||You just had to wait till after the servers crashed.||
WTD is just good tv, probably the best show i watched this year
Traitor Season 4 tonight.. WE WON!!!
It has a definite 3 season structure and isn't recycling the cast
Already makes sure it wont end up like st
Don't really have to worry about bill
He's not gonna suddenly age out
35
WTD Latest- || aside from the premise of the show, i am now more excited to see what more tie in to the SK universe and the actors they will bring for those ||
WTD Latest - || like Hallaran was probably my favorite character in the entire show and he only shows up like 2-3 times an episode ||
Yeah they are good
Wtd as a whole ||You will get more sense for the cosmology stuff when you go through the dt and his other books. Even IT if you ever read it. If you want more hallaran its shining and dr sleep.||
WTD ||Good show. ||
WTD Latest - || What year will next season be 1970s-1960s? ||
Wtd ||thats where we are rn Lucy lmao. The next cycle would be like 1930s||
Wtd ||the last one I mean||
ah ok
WTD Latest - || lol it would of been crazy if it was in the 1970s and we saw a Carrie Reference
||
Wtd finale ||we going backwards remember. So this next season is Bradley gang massacre.||
WTD ep 7 ||the entire season was worth it for the black spot sequences alone. equal measures amazing and horrifying, and no skimping out on the deaths - they went hardcore with the whole thing. and the cherry on top was richie sacrificing himself better than most i've seen in media.||
Welcome to derry finale.
WTD spoilers all ||In all fairness, there might be more intelligence in a newborn than the military in this show.||
ST Finale - || https://vxtwitter.com/byerseason/status/2009231712946147435?s=20
||
Wtd ep 7 and finale ||the show came out more sincere because it was just better tv. It has consequences, actual chemistry that wasn't cheap and a better villain tbh. In the end it worked to its strengths and wasn't annoying its fans. There's the fact at this point I just think the Steven King verse ips are more interesting than ST.||
WTD ||I can't even speak on behalf of Stranger Things 'cause I didn't want to watch any of it after season 2 lol||
Wtd abit ot ST s5 finale ||I can tell yoh this, you aren't missing anything. It did not make me feel much and I just ended up cooking the show for days after. Which is in stark contrast to the derry one which I actually enjoyed.||
i dodged a bullet
i have this immediate urge to watch nightcrawler again
This dashboard tracks the availability of popular shadow libraries in real time from a US-based server for informational purposes. We do not endorse these
Yooo thank you bto
I cant believe it got shot
@limber urchin do i read these letters in frankenstein
Or are they author shit
i read them
Sure i guess it cant hurt
twok 18 || i dont think i really have any ability to armchair tactician here but even i can see this war is very dumb ||
Twok || ye cuz Alethi are.
||
@foggy mirage @half steeple
ST End - || Duffers Strike Again 😭 ||
|| https://vxtwitter.com/cassildez_/status/2009279682206634012?s=20 ||
its kinda crazy that i post links in other languages but when i see them they are in English 😭 grok kinda crazy for that
Hardcover.app ftw
I use that and Storygraph
Posers but not a big suprise
What is hardcover.app
St end || they barely used the stuff dnd as a cool tool to introduce stuff like beholders, terrasque, krell or anything like a diplacer beast||
Twok 8 || I love Yalb, this guy is my goat||
true
Zlib
I think it never released in theaters and that's why he wasn't nominated
a DAMN SHAME
Oh I was wrong
The Oscars just suck
For some reason I thought it was a Netflix movie
who was nominated that year
Eddie Redmayne – The Theory of Everything as Stephen Hawking‡
Steve Carell – Foxcatcher as John Eleuthère du Pont
Bradley Cooper – American Sniper as Chris Kyle
Benedict Cumberbatch – The Imitation Game as Alan Turing
Michael Keaton – Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
these were the nominees during the eligible year
😭 He got fucking ROBBED
These are all cool performances but it should’ve been Gyllenhaal instead of Cooper
The ‘BLADE’ solo movie is no longer happening.
The character will instead appear in ‘MIDNIGHT SONS’.

The most predictably doomed ship is destroyed
honestly
i legit can't remember the last time i saw Hollywood make a vampire movie fr 😭
lol they use to be all the rage in the early 2000s
sinners
i guess thats true
did you not watch it
no it didn't cross my mind, i was thinking more like the vampire movies i watched in the past
before that there was nosferatu
also Interview with the Vampire
just in december
like underworld
yeah there's been quite a few vampire media lately
It's obv not the trend that's been chased like it was in 2000s
or 2010s even
Vampire diaries and that stephanie mayer's series
forgot the name
ya your right there have been a few, they just don't have the same feel as previous movies
you mean mindless action movies involving vampires
Bring back Underworld
yes
Peak
mcu tryina ice skate uphill
wanna rewatch van helsing because its just so dogshit yet entertaining
van helsing was so good
But yeah vampire media is healing after it's crash out in the early 10s
watch twilight
lol im good
Even in games
Bloodlines 2, V Rising, Duskbloods
Redfall but we don't talk about that one
darkstalkers
i guess the last traditional vampire media i have seen that i can correlate with is probably Castlevania
Don't bring darkstalkers back I don't want to envision what that even looks like in the SF6 engine
But yeah watch sinners
sinners was great
watch Interview with the Vampire
is it a tv show?
hmm ill check it out lol but i don't have as much time as i use to
there's a movie adaptation with tom cruise and brad pitt and kirsten dunst but its bad
so yeah
apparently the show is good
i havent seen it
i've seen the film but don't really remember it
Mayfair Witches and Talamasca
Like, an extended universe?
Lord have mercy
.
universeslop is what i should start calling this stuff
mayfair witches atleast has daddario sooo
every fucking show is a witch/nun/some form of exorcism 😭
just watch good shows?
like The Pitt
s2 out in 16 days
???
yeah I got confused
my deepest condolences
Here for vibes
What I'm actually waiting on is Predator tho
I couldn't afford to see most movies in November
badlands?
Yeah
oh badlands isn't on yet
Give it a month or two
Watching Rescuers this is cuter than I remember
What was Don Bluths obsession with rodents
Tolkien: The Silmarillion ||Just got through my re-read. Just gotta say holy shit, the duel between Fingolfin and Morgoth might be one of the most badass things I’ve ever read in all of fiction. I truly think this was probably the moment that the forces of the evil Ainur (Morgoth, Sauron, etc) realized they were not invincible. Reading about the First Age is so fascinating.||
I should've known tbh
pirates of the caribbean trilogy ||Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones||
potc ||Davy jones especially, the theme song is so good, I ocassionaly listen to it on walks and such||
I’m a huge fan of Legacy so hopefully this doesn’t butcher that
Yoooooo POTC ||One Piece reference||
Everyone knows Disney created Pirates of the Caribbean because specifically of One Piece
its dogshit
Pirates of the Caribbean is One Piece fan fiction
its basically a nine inch nails album that came with an additional really bad movie
So just listen to the OST got it
if you wanna look at jared leto's weird ass then go for the movie but yeah just the music
I didnt enjoy Leto before this so
No thx
My girlfriend loves Tron so when she saw the trailer with Leto she was beside herself
We didn't even go see it because of that
the leto of like requiem for a dream and shit like that long died
I never really enjoyed his stuff. I liked one thirty second to mars song and I think half of that is Guitar hero nostalgia
30 seconds before i fling myself off a cliff rather than listening to one song
Most of their stuff is pretty bad
There are far more bands in that sphere that Id happily listen to otherwise
Acquired
Enjoy. It’s a really enjoyable trilogy
As I've heard
I will eventually go on a Sanderson kick again. I think I need some time away tho, multiple Stormlight books in a year is a lot
WoT book 12 end || egwene is a top 2 character for me so obviously this book was fantastic, and might just be the best book in the series (although it doesn't quite have the peaks of the flashbacks fromm early on in it). rand hitting absolute rock bottom (hopefully, surely it cant get worse) was painful to read but well executed for sure, and 0 elayne chapters truly blessed the book ||
wot 12 || i love that last chapter so much. Or maybe second to last? Veins of gold ||
GODZILLA MINUS ZERO from Takashi Yamazaki
Coming to North American theatres November 6, 2026
https://t.co/htSdiaadFA
You mean og right ?
Cause this is the sequel to minus one
Yes minus one
We’ve also watched some of the original Toho and the newer monster verse stuff
Definitely recommend shin if you haven't
And the millenium stuff
I watched to see Shin in 4K but I missed it
Warner Bros has rejected Paramount’s 8th attempt to buy the studio
(Source: https://t.co/1lK0GENUn1)
definition of "she don't want you bro"
Are they allowed to do that when it’s so much more money than Netflix
Isn’t there laws in place for that
I mean
They are a privately owned company
Well
Sorta
But the point is they dont have to take the highest bid
Lets just be glad its not paramount
I don’t believe they are

Well either way
Bro Netflix is the worst option is it not
No
Aside from the saudis before them
The Ellisons own Paramount
Hasn’t Netflix dead ass said they want to do away with theaters
@white smelt
Imagine the Batman 2 on Netflix only
I think they want to shorten the theater cycle so its on streaming sooner
If the Ellisons get it Batman would be a podcast alpha bro
So
You make your choice there
Yes but Ellisons owning entertainment along with already owning one of the largest data company
that's terrifying
netflix just makes me think theyll still maintain a lot of their current creative liberties and there will be other downsides
paramount would probably destroy the creative element
Beyond so
and thats ultimately the worst option
Idk man Netflix has directors use specific cameras and lighting
Netflix would just shift more focus towards streaming and less days on theatre
We will reach a terrible end through them
but they will slowly realise that won't work as well
Every thing will look like wicked and stranger things
its still a better end than paramount
Agreed with Red
Without getting into banned topics, I think this is the better move
I also doubt theyll force certain cameras on The Batman considering cinematography was its greatest asset
idk about other movies tho
lol old news, they are about to reject the 9th
netflix is the better of both evils
the worse thing is, 😭 i just don't know
Netflix is the biggest pusher of second screen initiative and they have ruined so many shows
they cancel so many shows, its like a miracle if your show makes it past S3
finally finished Frankenstein lol
||I had paused after part 1 and forgot about it. Finally went back. It was very good. I think the whole "Im gonna tell my tale" thing was a bit contrived but I guess it was a way for them to talk it out amongst each other for that final scene so it kinda had to happen that way. I think thats why I paused. I was just like "I dont wanna hear another flashback story rn "
Bro is a better man than me I'd never forgive victor but it was very sweet. And I like to imagine that was the first time victor didn't lie||
Frankenstein 2025 ||it's a very beautiful movie and I love the monster most. The issue was Viktor ended up falling into the same pitfalls as his father. And dint consider he was making a person. Which would require you to have a mother figure to see what thats like growing up. He lost that early on and saw something similar with Elizabeth. Its funny considering Mia goth plays his mother and possible love interest. But the monster is absolutely justified in being pissed at Viktor for not taking responsibility and being a dead beat father. All this destruction comes from how horrible of a person viktor is. I do feel it did have to follow viktor first and then his son.||
Jesus christ how many times do they need to hear no
Can you just add whatever on letterboxd?
Just saw someone’s letterbox and it was a bunch of porn
Yeah I've seen that too
frankenstein 2025 ||I agree that it seems like the only way to tell this story. But it felt like a movie that was almost purely exposition because of it if that makes sense
Still a good movie though. I liked how the two mirrored each other's "childhood" and victor didn't even realize. ||
Frankstein 2025 ||the movie definitely clicked for me once the creature was alone in the woods after the fire. You can really feel del Toro the whole movie. The creation facing his creator always gets me.||
is Frankenstein 2025 good?
i never was a Frankenstein fan, is it actually a good movie. I get the overall aspects of him as a character but the movies have always been kinda meh to me.
It's okay
It's a good movie. But it's not as satisfying if you are a fan of the book
Absolutely yes. It's nothing like other Frankenstein movies. It's very visually stunning esp if you are into gothics
as a fan of the book, the film loses on a lot of the book's gothic ennui
hmm alright bet, ill check it out, would you consider it more along the lines of the shape of water?
MCU Doomsday || Tobey's spiderman is gonna get be killed in this movie isn't he ||
I didn't want that one sorry!
Theyre nothing alike visually
they're alike in that del toro has a unique visual style of his own
but the intention of what drives the cinematography is different
absolute superman #15
absolute superman 15 ||oh fuck yeah||
This should be in #promote-yourself if it's your own video
Warbreaker ch 13ish ||I do like how the initial concept of the story has been flipped on its head. Vivenna is the one who was trained in the politics of Hallandren and has no idea what she’s doing. Siri didn’t pay attention to anything and she seems to be doing pretty decently by herself||
We are now 8 days out from HBO’s 'A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS'
