when harry met sally || https://fixupx.com/TimothyYBarrett/status/2000408318150631642?s=20 || one of the great romantic scenes in film history
rob reiner also met his wife during the shooting of this film and that influenced the movie and its ending and now they're both gone together
Welcome To Derry Ep8 - || best shot of the entire episode🥹 ||
@limber urchin @sturdy tundra @foggy mirage
Wtd ep 8 ||very great finale to the first season, they set up some fun stuff properly and dick is headed to Colorado to get fucked over in the shining.||
Wtd ep 8 and IT ||Yeah them showing the suicide of bev's mother was to tie it to the movies. But you are correct about pennywise, IT's just like it said an "eater of worlds" and it comes from the macroverse beyond our universe. It's opposition being maturin one of the cosmic beings that guards a pillar of the multiverse which hold the dark tower. So yeah him plus traveling like it isn't too crazy compared to the type of universe this is. I do wonder how Its gonna act for s2 thoug.||
@frank rivet @limber urchin incase you need some lore on WTD ep 8
Rates it a 10 regardless
from what it sounds like. Yeah what a terrible way to go
i'll read it after i eat lunch today and have watched the episode
Stranger things season 1 episode 3 ||bethanys death still pisses me the frick off : ( ||
Frick
this series makes me so excited for DCU Batman
RIP Rob Reiner
He was solid in 30 Rock.
Finished season finale of IT: welcome to derry
Great show , liked it better than stranger things
Is it actually confirmed that their son killed them?
i think so, knife attack
wait it was murder?! not natural causes.....?
yeah, from the police reports it's looking more like foul play rather than natural causes
It was both Rob and his wife (with his son Nick taken into custody). This story is infuriating.
yeah, when I first read that it was the both of them I knew something was wrong
He better cook and not make flash 2.0
Got 2 more seasons left
Eventually
i think that was just circumstantial of what happened during that time 😭
Absolute bad film
I saw it again 4 months ago
Wanted to stop watching several times
true
Clayface will save that side of dc trust
The Sopranos ||My theory is that it was Long John Silver and not that animal Blundetto who whacked Joey Peeps||
I knew him more as a legendary director , kind of forgot he was in 30 rock
yeah everyone knows his as a director, but he also acted
If it really was his son that’s just sad…apparently the son was drug addicted and homeless and they were about to cut him off completely
Derry s1 finale ||I hope they keep going back in time like pennywise suggested , would love to see people from 1800s and stuff try and fight him lol||
Wtd s1 finale ||dunno how unless they abuse the shards again, cause otherwise theh get cooked. Next up is the Bradley gang massacre regardless.||
Derry s1 finale ||I mean not anyone actually go back in time but the plot itself goes back in time with pennywise being the only reoccurring character , he kind of straight up said something to that effect , he exists in all timelines and we’ve seen stuff from the future already so why not explore the past||
WTD S1 Finale - || I think he will be reborn the past simultaneously , he is going to take generational Ls regardless. ||
cinema only
attached to avatar 3
like the odyssey preview and the new spielberg movie look
Idk if there are odyssey leaks or if it was AI but I saw some silly looking stuff the other day
Be careful yall
LOTR: The Silmarillion/The Fall of Gondolin ||I love how Turgon is finally presented with the prophecy him and his people have been waiting on for hundreds of years since the Years of the Trees in Tuor and is literally told “death and fire is coming for your city and people” and Turgon is just like “nah, we can handle it.” Even when he has a literal messenger of the Valar standing in front of him telling him to take his people and leave. The pride of Noldor was so exploitable by Morgoth its unreal.||
Derry s1 finale ||naahhhhh 💀 ||
Busted out the call of adventure stormlight game with my dad
Kinda cool to see all the art
I haven't seen the end but i liked it
I'm not even especially interested in IT before starting it
i looove it
Very good , like it better than the latest 2 stranger things seasons
If I were to compare to a similar show
WTD - Ep8 ||What a beautiful episode, real final boss battle vibes, with such a tight bowtie put on everything for the next twenty seven years! That intro was sick as hell, too, just straight Deadlighting every kid in that auditorium. Little Mike got his kiss, absolutely adorable. And my boy Richie coming back to stick it to Pennywise with a middle finger to boot. And holy shit, Dick getting inside Pennywise's mind so that we get the "Eater of World's" line PLUS Pennywise getting bitch slapped? Chef's kiss moment for sure. Hanlon blowing Pennywise's head off was worth it just for the jack-in-the-box gag. We got as close to bird form Pennywise as we're getting, so I'll take it. The hotel line gave me a little smirk, nice nod to The Shining. The Beverly cameo at the end I was not expecting (did the books ever say what happened to her mom?). Speak of Bev, was the episode's title "Winter Fire" a reference to the poem Ben wrote Bev in the first remake film of IT (I swear it was somthing like that right?). One last thing, did the book ever indicate time means nothing to IT? I don't remember him predicting that in the future the Loser's Club would kill IT. Does this mean we get time traveling Pennywise? "Back to the Pennywise?" "Terminatorwise?"||
So it show ended
WTD FINALE ||big p still ate Georgie even thought he knew he would lose? Is he a dumbass?||
wtd good?
Yep
||Another all time classic
|| The Brave and the Bold #77
just saw something about the doomsday teaser that might just ruin my day
WTD Finale - || it's not that he doesn't know it's bad , it's that he is reborn to the time and the pillers muffle his full picture of events. He will be going back in time again as this will be a sequel/prequel to S1 but it's not like every event will play out the exact same leading to his demise in IT 2, he can alter the timeline from the moment he has access to all knowledge but until then he is living out the timeline he is trapped in when he is reborn ||
I went back and started it after ep 8
Short clip from the Japanese Dub of Seinfeld. Any other clips you want to see dubbed? Leave recommendations in the comments!
Stranger Things S4 - || this honestly might be my favorite season so far, I love the lore connections here ||
It 2017 || man parents are never good in these movies. I don't think I seen a single good parent ||
Wtd 8 / it 2017 || but isn't marge supposed to be one of the moms? Where's she at ||
wtd has higher episode ratings than pluribus
i could never have imagined ts
but ig pluribus still has 2 episodes left
Lol wait what
Controversial but it was more enjoyable....
Different kinds of shows tbh
Maybe I misunderstood that thread but it definitely was in wtd 8
Your starting from 8 or you finished 1-7 already ?
Ah ok I was confused lol
WTD 8 - || I was wondering what you meant by where's Marge
||
Wtd 8 / it 2017 || like where is she in it 2017 isn't she finn wolfhard's mom? ||
WTD 8/it 2017 - || wasn't this her ||
Wtd 8 / it 2017 || I guess so but I mean where is she in a deeper sense like why does she have so little influence in this story. I guess it's just a retcon trying to draw a fun connection and I'm nitpicking too much ||
Think about it
WTD ep 8 - || it makes sense why these kids forget , remember that once IT wakes up again, he is back to influencing the people of Derry. Remember when they said that he basically disrupted the water supply and makes people forget. When IT is reborn , he is reestablishing himself. Also remember that the Losers club that go on to defeat him all had the Shine. Those kids weren't regular kids ||
OK that's the bit I was missing
doesnt seem like a controversial opinion ...
but lets wait for pluribus finale
@foggy mirage
WTD ep 8 / Naruto Shippuden - || They Saying Halloran put Pennywise into a tsukuyomi
||
It is
Wtd ep 8 and IT ||they had the shine + maturin and the help of another god. So they really had way more in the chamber to fight pennywise.||
Yeah now I'm in it 2019 || and even the special kids have to be reminded ||
IT chapter 2 ||if you leave derry it just wipes your mind about it. Thats why Mike had to stay there.||
Wtd 8 / it 2017 || marge presumably stayed but didn't have special Steven king powers so she also just forgot I guess ||
Look at recent pluribus and wtd ratings tho
The LA event was great
Wtd ep 8 / IT part 1 ||mike's grandad dint even warn him about pennywise either lmao. And he shot him plus kidnapped will.||
Finished pt 2 of rhythm of war
Pt 2 end RoW @sage remnant ||Kaladin is such a fucking stupid idiot guy oh my god he pissed me off in that last chapter listen to your father for once good fucking lord dude||
Pt 2 end RoW ||Lirin was a dick at the end, but good god, think with your brain for once kaladin. Attacking is NOT the play there. You aren’t a slave if you just wait to see what plays out a little. Dalinar and his team are still gonna come back||
Pt 2 end RoW ||just complete brazenness for no real sake. You keep teft for 5 more minutes, then what? More fused comes? They harm your family all because YOU attacked for no reason when there is clearly no fucking hope of doing anything||
?????
What
Today !?!?!
We will be there
its a week early
And this isnt like some bait or bit or anything lol, RoW pt 2 ||end this irritafed me that I’ve tried to go tbed and havent been able to sleep (admittedly not because of this alone)||
Row || nah its brandon sanderson making u lose sleep. ||
The merciful demon Todd Howard has granted us an early episode release
He takes pity on us mortals
RoW part 2 || Kaladin took the correct decision in that. There's no telling what they can do, and if they will keep their promises of not harming anyone.
He's securing both a friend and a valuable military strength ||
RoW pt 2 ||for approximately 5 minutes until other fused/the chaser guy become aware he is in the building and then everyone will go and kill them and also the “valuable military stength” is incapacitated and cant do anything in the first place ||
todd howard has nothing to do with the release of the show
thank jonathan nolan and lisa joy
RoW pt 2 ||just because ONE parshendi dies doesn’t mean he did anything because there is no reasonable way he can do anything in that situation||
I’m not trying to be dense or anything it just makes no logical sense
We need other readers opinions
I can’t be crazy
RoW part 2 || He didn't do anything to diffuse the situation yea. That wasn't his intention.
He saved Teft ||
|| and kept the power secured. ||
I side with u even though i dont remember any of this
RoW part 2 || He and Teft, as long as they can make it out safe and hidden, are important ||
|| If he wasn't there, they are completely in mercy of enemy. ||
RoW pt 2 ||if the idea that teft wasnt safe because we aren’t sure that they would keep their promises then he should be concerned that his whole family could die by defying them in this case ||
RoW pt 2 ||ESPECIALLY because he is kaladin, he has a name in the world, people know him, and they could use his family dying or something as a way to get at him ||
RoW part 2 || Yeah and in the heat of the moment, Teft's in danger and he makes the logical decision according to his emotional state ||
Idk this feels a more logical action to me
RoW part 2 || And what can he salvage rn?
If he can't salvage Teft, how does he have ANY chance to do ANYTHING about defeating them or saving Urithiru ||
RoW pt 2 ||and by acting out he just makes it more likely that THEY will face worse repercussions cause of it||
RoW part 2 || Without this action, they are powerless and unable to do anything about it ||
RoW pt 2|| that is EXACTLY my point. HE DOESN’T. Not right now. HE doesn’t have any chance. They already are basically powerless when they step in the building, as far as kaladin knows theres no wall by the crystal and every radiant doesn’t work except for him who only functions at like half power. He should WAIT it out until dalinar comes back or at least just to fucking see what plays out. I understand he doesn’t want to be a slave again but something like this is completely reckless BECAUSE he’s putting his life and his families life at risk for no real reason.||
RoW part 2 || Dalinar coming back could take AGES. Before then, Raboniel could obliterate the entire Radiant force ||
RoW ||these are plenty of fused and singers, even if him and Teft wake up they aren’t soloing the verse||
RoW pt 2 ||there’s already a precedent of them not killing people, even navani AND kaladin acknowledged this||
RoW part 2 || They aren't soling the verse. But without them, they are completely powerless
||
|| It's a small opposing force, which is necessary when some other party has completely occupied you lol||
|| both militarily and emotionally, its a correct decision for Kaladin ||
RoW|| 2 against like 1000 bro ||
RoW ||a 1000 that has infinite lives btw ||
Essentially
RoW || man I don't wanna bring irl politics, but you just said any opposition force in occupied territory is unnecessary lol :kekhands: ||
When u was writing soemthing and u accidentally deleted it all

RoW pt 2 ||they can be under the foot of the parshendi and still be an opposed force. When Kaladin and bridge 4 were opposed to Sadeas and the such doesn’t mean they were stabbing Sadeas and killing his guards. They were fighting in their own way||
@copper phoenix i need ur take on this pls
Am I crazy
If I have two people against me I will acknowledge the possibility
RoW part 2 || But Bridge 4 case wasn't confinement and drugged equivalent ||
terrible way to go
Stranger things season 1 full spoilers ||didn’t really think it would holdup after all these years but damn it’s still so good. Dustin and hopper are my goats fr. Will say however the actress for wills mom delivers lines the same way the whole season and it got really irritating ||
stranger things ||winona ryder?||
batman: dark patterns issue 12
Yeah
Row part 1 row part 2
Had time to think about The Mastermind, good film that featured a really good Josh O’Connor performance as usual
But there’s something about it that irks me
Wake Up Dead Man/The Mastermind || while both Reichardt and Johnson made films about the existential void at the heart of America, vis-a-vis with two different social contexts and time periods, O’Connor plays two completely different characters on the opposite ends of the moral spectrum, an upright priest with resolve and will to server in the name of Jesus in Wake Up Dead Man and as an existentially frustrated weasel of a man with deep faults that shows how great of a performer he is||

WTD S2 Info - || Andy talking a little bit about season 2 lore ||
|| https://vxtwitter.com/BasedGodOfHope/status/2000783221651280093?s=20||
#ITWelcomeToDerry season 2 crumbs from the main man Andy Muschietti himself.
saw some clips of welcome to derry, the visual look of it is so ugly
I don't think it's supposed to look nice it's horror
?
i fell like you should just watch it 😭
its hard to convince someone that doesn't like it from the start
if you think horror movies dont have to look good then you havent watched many horror films
I haven't yeah but I do think welcome to derry was good.
I don't typically like the genre
the shining is one of the most gorgeous films to look at ever
there are tons of great looking horror films and shows
Maybe there's a miscommunication here what you mean by ugly
the look of welcome to derry just puts me off, i tried an episode
visually its ugly as fuck
the cinematography
the way its shot and edited
at least for me its ugly as fuck
I dunno I don't see what you mean but to each his own
people seem to like it
I thought you meant like you didn't like gore type stuff
"Yo, DisneyGPT, how do you feel about Song of the South?"
"Yo, DisneyGPT, I know you have Walt's frozen head in the underground like Imu has that giant hat."
its got the weird andy muschietti visual aesthetic paired with horrible looking CGI, idk it looks like hogfeed
its an andy muschietti show obviously but like its just taken to a garish extreme
Dunno didn't have any problems with the cgi myself might just be a difference in taste
WTD season 2 ||Ooh, he's gonna have a fine line to walk. 'cause if we delve too deep into an eldritch entity, does it lose what makes it special?||
There's one episode where everyone agreed it was jarring. The rest? You'll be fine, and even impressed at times. It's just a good show.
i also find the idea of an IT prequel pretty dumb and redundant
WTD S2 - || i actually think it expands to other corners of Stephen king metaverse the deeper we go into the entity. Think about it||
great child actors too all things considered. it's got real heart at points, really pulls at the heartstring sometimes
i'll stick with pluribus for the timebeing
I know there's good stuff on there but I just can't get apple tv
Too bad my knowledge stops at IT and the film adaptation of The Shining.....I need to read more. Salem's Lot next for 'ol Buffy?
i pirate it
read the book
Enough is enough with streaming services
Dammit, just watch the cool clown show!!
probably lisa will know more about its connections, but i think thats where it is going
dont watch any other adaptation of the book
that'
s the goal
i don't want to watch the films. i want to read more. same with manga. i've been avoiding anime for the og manga adaptations
I don't like to pirate things I just don't watch things I'm not willing to pay for
apple tv is perhaps the show with the highest number of quality shows at this point
i pirate things because its fun and i like having higher quality versions of the same shit without having to access the internet
you can pirate an episode or two and then decide if you want to buy the physical media.
it really depends on how many things im willing to subscribe to at a time.
I don't for HBO because i have it through other things, but if this merger made HBO and netflix together cost $50 a month... i would be strongly tempted
I think i'm one of the few here who buys physical media though
Just finally got Castle in the Castle recently
i would get physical stuff if i had the money
half of it would burn away in shipping fees
I would say DVDs for extra cheap but it comes with a quality hit
I just can't reconcile making good money with pirating stuff. Especially cause my money comes from stuff that could be pirated
does India have large shipping fees?
tariffs
goddammit
oh, how's the used video market in india? like physical stores I mean.
there are no video stores here anymore
man
ever since the internet
i remember a time as a kid where there were video rental stores
i guess the same can be said about the US. it's just major cities that mostly have them I guess
lol that wasn't that long ago, don't make me feel old 😭
i used to go get movies to watch
"verified Walt Disney quotes" Oh boy, famous antisemitism quotes
stfu grandpa (me too) and take your metamucil
dammit I was gonna say something like that too but was afraid of getting muted
i'm 26 about to turn 27, i'm relatively young
I mean as long as it doesn't blow up into a whole thing or the subject isn't too controversial it should be fine iirc
fucking old ass
i miss going to blockbuster because i would watch allt he Jackie chan classic movies
Leo would never
25 is the end of the road for getting older being good
😤
I responded with this so I was already pushing buttons lol
I loved Blockbuster. The last things I remember buying from there were Kill Bill, but I think I bought other things later but just forgot what.
Nah, 26 is when you start to see discounts on your car insurance as long as you have a good ish record for driving
(This was a joke attempt by me making fun of Leo DiCaprio constantly dating women he's twice as old as)
man disney sucks ass nowadays huh
Kung Fu Hustle, Kung Pow: Enter the Fist would not be cult classics if we didn't have block buster
nowadays???
those movies were PEAK FICTION
lol
Until Disney acknowledges the greatness of The Great Mouse Detective, they are dead to me.
Disney been missing the mark most of the past 20 years
gotta thow shaolin soccer in there to
I'd rather be 25 again and pay more for car insurance
It was all downhill after Lizzy McGuire
you're so real
i think the last movie i liked from them was like the original lilo and stitch
the great mouse detective is amazing
top 3 for sure
You're damn right it is, my dear Watson.
i need to rewatch it at some point
Stranger Things S4Ep7 - || JESUS CHRIST THIS EPISODE IS LONG ||
nope
ah. who was it?
ferngully is dreamworks
I'm not sure if Disney movies were ever good or I'm just looking at the good ones with childhood nostalgia
that was my next guess
Aladdin is the greatest Disney movie ever.
there have been many great disney films
Aladdin is a top film for me
sleeping beauty is the best disney film ever made imo
i think it's aladdin, hunchback of notre dame then lilo and stitch
Sleeping Beauty has my all-time favorite animation just in terms of raw skill.
But don't you have to put the asterix like "for children"
i think the renaissance era is like overrated to an extreme degree
the order changes a lot on which is my favorite but those are my main 3
i love a lot of those films but like come on now
Like Is an adult with no kids watching sleeping beauty and thinking it's a masterpiece
i have no kids and i think its a masterpiece
Lion King I tolerate, but mostly for Scar's songs.
idk if that should be a criteria
I also love The Princess and the Frog. Fun stuff.
Like I'd call 2001 a masterpiece probably and I wouldn't put any disney movie close
lion king and aladdin are tied for my renaissance favs followed by beauty and the beast and then little mermaid
2010 not as good but I do like John lithgow
the rest of them are fairly faint in my canon
i liked treasure planet but that's probably because i'll eat up anything pirate related
I think for me it's
Aladdin, Beauty, Mermaid, Lion. In that order.
do pixar count
that's a good question
ill go Lilo & Stitch, Finding Nemo, Lion King
i usually count them seperately but in the case of rankings yeah you can include them
that's a good list
i like Wall E
i can't believe he's still working
how old is spielberg again
about 80
isn't he in his 70s
oh my god he's still working at that age?
he and scorsese, yes, still making quality cinema
coppola has fallen off
lucas doesnt make movies anymore
what was the last thing spiel even made?
i need to binge all of spielbergs stuff at some point
from his first movie to his latest
same with scorsese because i don't think i've ever actually watched one of his movies before
will do
Primal S3 trailer || https://fixupx.com/adultswim/status/2000944062476738901?s=46|| we are so fucking back
fallout s2 soon
Isn't that today
Stranger Things S04Ep7 - || I knew it was him, i loved this season but man some stuff is so predictable 😭 ||
Yeah this is absolutely peak animation
Gendy back at it again
I'm kind of getting obsessed with the dark tower
I want to read it
.....will I have enough time that's the question
That also happened to me from consuming it related content
Mercy Trailer / Psycho Pass - || this movie is literally the sibyl system
https://youtu.be/7H7Djx17l8Y?si=7PdUzj3r7C2qAQ9r ||

Derry season 2 and 3 confirmed
Welcome to Derry s1 finale/s2/s3 ||they’ll be going to 1935 and then 1908
||
oh i didnt know
Fallout season 2 (episode 1) was some good tv ||apparently vault 24 was cut content from New Vegas, deep cut. Legion is in the next episode too looks like||
is the whole season out?
Pluribus ep 6 ||this shit is so sad snd embarrassing 😭 at least carol accepts reality ||
PLUTIBUS EP 6 ||WTF JOHN CENA????||
Just the premiere
Has anyone been watching this?
I haven’t seen the latest episode yet
Pluribus ep 6 ||i love how quiet some of these episodes are idk||
Rewatched Avatar Way of the Water
Way of the Water ||still an incredible visual experience but there's something about the emotional weight of these images that might've changed for the better (slightly). I could get over the kids being annoying as quirks of personality but the death of that one kid did really sell me on how Jake and Neytiri see the world and their children, their flaws and ways of looking at this conflict definitely felt more fleshed out to me than when I watched it for the first time. Another aspect I enjoyed more this time was Stephen Lang's portrayal of Quaritch - a man so deeply mired in Shakespearean crisis of identity and existential void due to his return as a Na'vi that it colors his entire arc trickling from the first film, it definitely offers a shade to Quaritch that was missing from his badass soldier function of the first film. Still don't like Spider or the dynamic between Spider and Quaritch||
Way of the Water || Quaritch had a identity crisis thing??? ||
||afair, I just found his character to be idk same as the first movie ||
would you recommend rewatching it or just watching a "movie recap" youtube video btw
@modern lichen
Recap that
Unless you actually care about avatar
hmm
avatar recap lmaooo
Im never gonna watch it but if you're in a movie mood and you like avatar it couldnt hurt to watch. Its just 2 movies end of the day
I really am not a fan, but like that harsh message had way more positive on the movie than I remembered lol
Dhurandhar end|| The car sequence with the tital track in background was absolute peak and lmao the final chapter name really made me wish I didn't get that reference ||
Dhurandhar end || I wasn't much fan of it in the beginning, but it turned out to be so much layered and nuanced than I thought it would go ||
probably the first film I had seen Akshaye khanna act in decades
And he fucking nailed it
Dhurandhar end/Animal|| Ngl I was expecting to get disappointed just like I was after wattching animal (had the same amount of hype as this one) but I was in for pleasant surprise||
Animal was a movie where you get drunk and laugh at it
we didn't even go for a high end theatre for that
he was in chava iirc
Yeah checked his filmography and haven't seen his stuff post 2010s until Dhurandhar

also good one by Sanjay Dutt
Dhurandhar || Epic entry scene
(with anotheer goated bgm) ||
Just watch Way of Water
Also yeah first movie I saw of Arjun Rampal after Satyagraha
checked the list and yeah none seem that watchworthy
Seeing Avatar 3 tomorrow in IMAX 3D
I liked the second one more than the first one so hopefully this is good
I can't believe the third is already out.
I can't explain why, but I'm good on these films going forward. It was novel the first time, I already forget everything about the second one.
Lowkey I’m only watching for the special effects
The story is fine but the real treat is the tech
just watch new movie after watching recap of old one
ez
second one is better than the first if I remember. but something about the films, outside the visuals, leave me feeling, I don't know. not very interested.
Also from the trailers I think the story will be interesting (Avatar 3 trailer spoilers) ||since it’s gonna be about the cycle of hate||
I saw someone comparing watching avatar to watching cirque du soleil cos you just go there for the experience in the moment and promptly forget about it the moment you walk thru the exit
James Cameron saved a drowned rat using CPR on the set of ‘THE ABYSS’ to keep the production’s “No Animals Were Harmed” certification.

mfs be doin that with avengers cameos
? 😭
Just saw the supergirl trailer
AHHHH I'M SO EXCITED FOR IT 😭
I know it's based on woman of tomorrow which I haven't read but heard of its praises so just really excited for it.
oscars 2029 is gonna be youtube exclusive holy shit lmao
you know what this means
Pluribus ep 7 ||holy fuck this dude is a trooper, I love him hes so cool||
Man I know streaming has gotten a little worse recently with price increases and such but I forgot how much TV sucks
It's like 30% ads. I guess people still need it for live sports?
I haven't had cable in years but in a couple hotels past few days
There's even little banner ads while the show is on
Yes?

Dear @JimCameron, we’d be honoured to host you on the #VARANASI sets sir. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This more an OG giving love to another OG or an OG giving love to an up and comer? Not a film head so completely ignorant as to the work of Varanasi's director
have you heard of RRR
rajamouli is not an up and comer for sure
he's the most commercially successful director in the history of indian cinema
genuinely great filmmaker with his own ethos and identity in how he makes films
I've been meaning to watch that, so it's a case of the former then. Always nice to see
yeah, rajamouli only recently with baahubali (his two part epic) and RRR came to international limelight
RRR won the best song oscar
Ppl really liked it ig,at least that's what it looked like from clips I saw. I like the movie tho
It's a movie originally made on telugu which is my mother tongue
Telugu is my mother tongue too
Good to know
We definitely know why it won Oscar cause it's a vibe
I actually think the song is like just ok
Love the story it tells within the song tho in the movie
It’s like a microcosm of the entire film
is this like a proof of concept? It looks so uncanny
the slow movement etc
Watch in a bit. Just returned home
no, they're still shooting
good good
the actual film will look more epic
Watch RRR Red
is RRR an aura movie
no
maybe one day then
Exactly it s great direction that's why it's a vibe
Like literally that dance was more hyped up
Avatar Way of the Water || i wish Eywa would amount to something later ||
sooo pretty 😭
IDK why I'm not as hyped to watch fire and ash as much as last movie
I was not hyped to watch Way of Water either
i didn't care for the plot but i do fuk with big water spectacles, felt like a discovery channel special
Ash doesn't even appeal to me as a spectacle 😭
I rewatched it yesterday
It did look pretty ngl
And I enjoyed it slightly more than last time
Anytime its not focusing on the main conflict, its pretty darn good
Batman (2025) #2 - || Why would you lick it 😭 , also loving this design||
Avatar movies gonna be used as documentary of humans 400 years into the future
Avatar Way of the Water || The underwater scenes are sooo good ||
Batman 2025 #2 - || That was mainly a setup chapter, guess it will be Savage and the police vs Batman/Robin. Loving the action panels, but still getting into the story||
Avatar Way of Water || the thing I just don't get is Cameron seems to be trying to go for look we were close to nature and it was all good and industrialization bad and etc and while that's already poorly done, it's just the "ideal" that he paints the Navi people as are not that good at all already? ||
Avatar Way of water - || what do you mean by not that good?||
@foggy mirage
Fuck it, gonna start The Dark Tower
Avatar WoW || The story wants to pretend that the "old ways" were the utopian ways sort of, which definitely isn't the case ||
enjoy
Avatar Way of Water || Man the science dudes. You have the whole tree being an equivalent to like a complex consciousness thingy which is also like a memory store and you find a connection to that sort of thing epilepsy 😭 ||
Raaaaaaaaagh
Another one
To the club
Wait you mean the book right ?
😭
Don't watch the movie instantly gonna turn you off
Thank christ
Start with the gunslinger
Then its drawning of the three
Lucy about to get the main plot from the king verse
😭
Dune is slowly winning me over ||Herbert's writing style is odd, for lack a of a better term, but now that I'm nearing the halfway point, I'm more enjoying the narrative as I've gotten used to how he writes. It was never bad, just kind of strange to read, wrapping my head around the way he writes.||
Dune ||he writes from the pov point and only gives you crumbs of though at times. And it can read like you are reading an epic as its in the making, from the very ground. Every chapter start reminds you how much bigger the story ended up being because of princess irulan and what she writes about Muad'dib.||
But I can understand what you mean about it feeling like that
Dune ||I've been trying to pay attention to the princesse's writings at the chapter beginnings; it's all about Paul right? Or am I interpretting them wrong? Like, I've been spoiled on his character arc a bit (being a villain right?)||
Dune || She's writing sort of a historical account about Muad'dib ||
that's all you need to know at this point
OK
Stormlight (TWOK) and Dune ||I was wondering if they were like the dying prophecies from The Way of Kings at first lol||
Dune ||yeah muad'dib is an important figure. she is writing on his life and things he said. Its very important to understand the book. Its not gibberish and it tends to come into play the more you read.||
Good to know. I will be even more attentive to them
Dune ||some of my favorite quotes are from her writings.||
it's more close to WaT epigraphs || the "Knights of Wind and Truth" one ||
in the purpose
Dune ||I'm at the part where Paul and Jessica escaped the great sandstorm and crashed and avoided being eaten by a worm.||
Peak incoming
Christ almighty
yeah you finished Villeneuve's first movie part
you know what's funny? I've, like, totally forgotten virtually everything about that film. And I have no idea why.
skill issue fr
Dune ||this upcoming chapter after the worm is one of my favorite parts.||
It's my Alzheimer's arc.
Ngl reading the book is gonna help with messiah anyways
Denis has some stuff he needs to rectify in the first 15 mins for part 3
|| Alia? || messiah
I also have yet to see the second Dune film. I'm not gonna watch until I feel like I want to rewatch the first one.
|| or paul ii? ||messiah
Dune messiah || yeah Alia needs to be grown and everything to do with his kids.||
wait for the third movie
and then watch three at once
Next denis crunch movie is dune 3
I think he's gonna change stuff a bit
Then he's off to James bond
Already casted the character
I doubt its changing
hmm
Denis is? Oh HELL YEAH
You forgot that brother cooking again with bond
if that was the case
dune part 2/dune first book all ||should have just had infant Alia slash baron with gom jabbar ||
or was that too much for general audience
||i think he dint want to get a child actor to do all of that.|| dune messiah
Again? What are you not telling me?
Sicario
Im just saying that movie gave me trust
Oh I never saw it.
He can handle this
just have it computer generated fr...
cgi, not llm
Denis seems very against ||cgi people|| dune messiah
It would just be funny given the movie's lore
rather it would be so good and funny in different levels
haha
Easy recommend tbh
|| Spacing Guiild in my Deni V dune?||messiah
||Even Mentats stopped existing after first half hour of the first movie ||
||trust he's gonna show the craziest version yet.|| dune messiah
what the hell is this Denis movie lol
Lmao what
yeah a film he directed in 2011 on his IMDB
he ain't got the sauce for that
Despite how Lynch movie was, it did the weirdness so good
You forget he did arrival
I can see it
In my mind's eye
Its visually interesting
Its just the plot and rushing everything
Always killed it for me
How weird is this one considering the director?
Denis is more coherent vision
but the design choices and weirdness. Lynch leans completely on it
Closer to the book
Lynch went for out with his version
It screams Lynch
He wasn't interested in the book very much at all
classic Lynch
|| other than Mentat and Spacing Guild and removing Feyd from movie 1 || deni V dune
He also had to pack the gigantic book into a movie that was like half the size of first Deni V dune movie
Yeah it was never gonna work for a proper adaptation
Denis just tends to win out for me
But I dont shit on the lynch version
both adaptations did || harkonnen amazing || tho
dune lynch and deni v
Deni V dune
||but my goat feyd was better in lynch's || dune deni V and Lynch
I liked the Denis version on this too from character aspect and design
||prefer the black sun, and how monstrous it all is.|| dune part 2
a more well done character in Deni V's
Part 3 is the one I'm hyped for the most tbh
Children is the only one I can see somehow happening
Gunslinger isn't too long nice
Yeah easy 238 pages
Give or take
Next one is a bit longer but not by much
Alright bet , just trying to see how much I can fit in within my break
Lol where is this thing everyones talking about
I have yet to see anything
Yeah it'll be a nice read i think you'll like how king writes.
its only showed along with avatar but its already confirmed everywhere in news sites
it can't be that bad

Good movie
All three movies are good enough that its a really enjoyable and worth it watch, but they idk lack smth that doesn't help it reach a status of goat worthy or like worth remembering/pop culture relevance
oh damn the 3rd movie is out? 👀
guess i'll be seeing that with the parents next week

going to see avatar 3 movie

@jolly ruin Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone ||Per the Christmas thing, Chris Columbus directed both Home Alone (a Christmas movie) and the Sorcerer's Stone. A lot of big and established Japanese film directors used to look down on tokusatsu. Hayao Miyazaki is one of them. Akira Kurosawa also looked down on tokusatsu despite being friends with Ishiro Honda.

The tweet that’s being quoted is excerpted from the interview, but only talks about Anno’s mentioning of Miyazaki’s opposition towards him working with special effects. I don’t know where the quoter is getting the Akira Kurosawa bit from, though

I CANNOT understand reddits hateboner for sanderson
Saw a whole thread of comparing him with mcu
Like do they not engage with his books beyond the prose
From what I’ve seen it’s because he’s popular and gets recommended a lot
Well I hope it isn't
Its the same people that discount every depth in battle shounen manga and for them they all have same depth as Solo Levelling
Fucking don't want to engage with a work on a deeper level and complain about depth
Some people just love to be contrarian it makes them feel superior
I have so much hatred for Fantasy readers in general. The general community in reddit and etc
Contrarian is fun.
Just be able to back it up is all I want
I don't always succeed I but I try not to be a hater
I look for things to like not to hate on
Reddit has that exact issue when it comes to contrarianism
Like they all hate Avatar and say it has no impact despite it having two top grossing movies 😭
Every time a new one comes out it’s the same opinions
That's the thing I think some people do it for it's own sake or the sense of superiority not out of a genuinene dislike for the underlying thing
This bro so many people have this weird mentality
That hating something makes you better
If you can't at least appreciate the visuals of avatar I dunno what to say shit was groundbreaking at the time
Yeah the new one was stunning and the story was fine
I love haters of stuff I like and lovers of stuff I dislike as long as they have interesting perspectives and opinions
But Redditors immediately write it off
Its a reddit thing to shit on anything popular
they will turn on something they once loved just cuz it got mainstream
seems like a social media thing in general
How quickly your wholesome chungus viewpoint crumbled
what if the material isnt interesting enough for the negative or positive opinions to be interesting
I think every material can have that
I have heard some interesting things on even SL
My viewpoint shifts every 3 second
Avatar has no cultural impact
That is true
It does well every time its shown in theatres
that is also true
The only reason people watch those movies are for the AMAZING visuals, which are like best enjoyed in a theatre big scrren
You could say it’s the film version of Cosmere
I think the original had some cultural impact during the following years after it released but it didnt stick
Amateur ragebaiter
I don't remember it having but again I was a baby
In the years following it tho, it barely has any equivalent to other successful movies of its level
I was in middle school when I saw it in theaters. People were definitely still talking about it in my age range (in the united states at least) in the years following
Avatar never had cultural impact
But it has technical impact
Everything used on avatar is basically standard nowadays but it was ground breaking at the time
I feel like that's why James likes making avatar movies or movies in general (now)
His plots are pretty cookie cutter but he always did some pretty impressive stuff for the industry. I think of Alita battle Angel being another example
I feel like saying it had no cultural impact at all is a little disingenous but idk.
I dont think anyone cares about the characters but that specific world and aesthetic I think did have cultural impact amongst specifically the youth for a time
The world of Pandora was already made though in other mediums right ?
Like nothing in Pandora is anything I have not seen prior to its release. It was an especially prevalent aesthetic in JRPGs
while true I dont know if being the origin is that relevant here no?
You mentioned the world which is why I brought it up
I mean in the sense that thats what people remember and like it for
I dont mean like its influential
demon slayer and jjk have nothing unique about them but they've got a huge cultural impact
I get what you're saying but They have cultural impact in a different way they are easy to digest and marketable like Avatar was never that. The plot was simple but it was still not marketable as a franchise. I feel like what made it popular is that it was the True spectacle like when people think about a movie they go to theaters for they think about Avatar as a spectacle. A bright fireworks show where you don't even remember what happened afterwards, you just remember you saw fireworks.
Im not saying it was star wars Im just saying for a few years after its original release people in my school were still talking about it and referencing it. More specifically Avatar || The mountain ranges, the flying, and the hair sex lol||
I can give the last 2, I think the first one was just maybe here in the US. But anyone playing J/RPGs already saw the first one many times
dude lucy Im not talking about influence on future media 😭 thats why I referenced jjk and demon slayer
people have seen modern japan and historical japan before
No I'm talking about at the point
I'm remembering It from when I was a kid lol
I don't mean figure media
Im saying that Im fully aware jrpgs had those things in it before avatar
Im just saying people still thought they were cool and remembered them from avatar
even if they'd seen some other things like it prior
that specific execution of the aesthetic was something memorable to people
Avatar - honestly maybe it was just where I was but I remember after the first movie the biggest thing in school was || the flying dragon things , the rhino with the shark head , avatars themselves, and the hair sex scene ||
avatar ||I think the flying dragon and the mountains went hand in hand tbf||
Avatar
its a very memorable scene
Ive never rewatched avatar
and I still remember it
Avatar - like if there was one scene that I remembered was || when he rode the big red one the first time and then the big red one descending onto the battlefield ||

Avatar: Fire & Ash ||Just finished. This movie was weirdly structured||
Avatar: Fire & Ash ||Felt like the first 20 minutes were just an extended epilogue to Way of the Water, changing the status quo of its ending, and then the big trilogy finale that makes up the last half hour is completely unearned?
I liked the middle hours of the movie, the story of Spider and how the rest of the cast reacts to it, as much as I do the other two films at least. How radicalization happens among good people without them even realizing it, and likewise how someone like the Colonel slowly becomes estranged from the culture he's fighting for. That killing an innocent for the greater good isn't a way to stop the cycle of hatred, but also clinging to tradition and rolling over to die to uphold pacifistic tradition is a hollow gesture when facing war and genocide. When this movie is isolated as its own narrative it was real solid.
But it feels bogged down by needing to be the finale of a trilogy? The connections to the previous films feel tenuous at times, like they're lip service Cameron has to go through for the sake of making this feel like a climax, and as a result its grand finale feels stapled onto a mostly unrelated film. It ends up disjointed, and recycling setpieces from the first two films because it hasn't escalated to anything new.
Id say it feels like he halfheartedly wrote an "out" with a faux ending in case a sequel doesn't happen but that seems so fucking obvious that I wouldn't even call it a theory. 4 and 5 have been announced but their production is ambiguous||
Edited to remove Politics I was probably skirting a line
Avatar 3 was pretty perfect. Only criticism is || too much catch and release subplots, felt like I was watching a SW Rebels episode.. also the main plot didn't feel tooooo different from way of the water. And I am sick of Jake vs Quaritch. How many times we gotta end the movie with these two mfers fighting? And just the whole main plot in general. It's giving Pokemon, it's giving Team Rocket strikes again. It's getting tired. ||
Avatar 3 || Hopefully movie 4 and 5 start diving a little deeper and lose the 2 & 3 plot. As a combined set with the first movie a standalone film in its own way, it is good. But as a trilogy movie (which most people are going to base the series on because of where it is now and 4/5 isn't going to be for at least 4 years) it is, not fully there. Continuity is definitely key here ||
Avatar 3 ||whole finale felt like the end of way of the water with more fireworks, like some of the beats were COMPLETELY identical.||
I totally like the second film the most of this trilogy
rick and morty s7 e10 || man this fear hole episode is so good. not because of the whole fear thing, but because how diane handles the entire situation. it really shows the absurdity of the family's life ||
|| the monologue about happiness is also so real man ||
rick and morty s8 e1 || man this ep was great. i can tell the writers were still riding the same high from the last ep. disillusionment ftw baby||
Dune book 1 question ||I got to the chapter where Kynes dies from the bubble beneath the sand exploding and dragging him into the planet. He used the word "maker" to describe some entity(s) that seem to be the originators of this process. Am I supposed to think that the makers are the worms, or do these makers get revealed later on?||
Dune book 1 ||by this point you are supposed to think of the worms as the makers, this isn't a coincidence.||
Me too but I feel I need to watch all 3 together
I believe that the producers said that Avatar 4 will apparently ||focus more on the dying Earth, which I find very interesting||
I haven’t seen the way of water but I wanna go watch fire and ash, would that matter much?
kpop demon hunters takes another victim
Yes
watch way of water
just the movie isn't enough you also have to watch a 30 minute youtube video explaining the lore too
The new one is basically part 2 of Way of Water, so definitely watch
no watch the way of water.. you'll have no idea what they're even talking about lol
thats like watching a new season of Stranger things without watching the recaps
Is that the end or are more avatars coming

|| in the final ||
|| Let the kids be in a world that has just won against Humans but lost their biggest asset. Many roles to fill in. So much potential for different characters. ||
Avatar 4 || I'm kind of hoping Quaritch stays gone. I'm getting a little sick of Jake vs Quaritch as the final act. Its getting a little tired ||
Isn't there an avatar land at disney? They'll provably keep it up unless it bombs
I was hoping this movie took a bolder route but meh
I could have been excited for Avatar 4
Avatar 4 || three movies and they have just been afraid of changing the status quo. All three movie keep the world in same-ish state. ||
Avatar 4 ||it’s pretty interesting how they have the first act already pre-filmed. Interesting to see a timeskip where the kid actors actually grows up||
Avatar 4 ||fuck it revive him a third time. He’s honestly my favorite character I can’t get enough||

I hope avatar 4 is better than avatar 3 lol
Weird for my take from a new media property to be exclusively speculation for a sequel but I just don't have much more to say on Fire & Ash
I read your writing on it and I almost completely agree
I have same praises, and same complaints
||Movie felt caught between being an epilogue to 2 and setup for 4 in a way that its own identity gets buried underneath its first and final acts||
Cool glad I'm not weird for once
I broke my hiatus again to bitch about this film
Im terrible at this
Avatar 3|| Quaritch's character was the best in this movie ||
Avatar 3 ||agreed but I think I'm done with him now. He has nothing new to explore||
Avatar 3 || He should have almost completely turned into a Naavi but the warmongering one and be a third faction or w/e ||
|| And have the world be into one where Na'avi has to let go of their ways to some extent or Humans winning to some extent or w/e||
||just change the status quo !!! ||
Avatar 3 ||Fire Bitch doesn't get an ending in this. She's gonna stick around||
Avatar 3 ||I have like 6 friends planning to watch this movie just cuz they think she's hot||

Does it really need a complex risky story isn't the main appeal great visuals
I guess it would be better with one for sure
Avatar 3 ||respectfully disagree. The kid attempting suicide and Jake almost putting down Spider was some pretty ballsy shit in a PG-13 movie||
Avatar 3 (non story spoilers) ||technically the visuals are better than ever but because the film barely explores any new areas or tribes it feels so samey the technical innovation isn't center stage the way it was in the past.||
Avatar 3 ||I guess the big difference is they feel way more confident having humans and Navi share screentime together in this one and blend in the Live Action more but it's still not fully convincing, the humans kinda look worse than the CGI||
My diary is getting weird bros

On Ep 7 of Pluribus. This is not working for me man
Pluribus ep 6 || I don't really need plot focused shows, but like the other stuff gotta be interesting enough.
There's not really much character interaction, any like philosophical discussion whether directly or through actions, and even when there is, its done in such a slow way that instead of the intended "show don't tell" the point is already made and conveyed and rest feel like padding.
Even if it was eye candy visuals or wretching to watch or anything. Just rarely is making me feel anything or even be able to pay attention ||
I did like || Them not leaning into (insert incredibly evil thing antagonist/group does which makes their argument void). Was afraid it would go that direction once frozen heads were shown ||
