Reading OP is impressive
As a whole new reader
Like seriously, someone taking it on, I salute them
It was her first time reading a manga!
Holy damn
She just jumped in feet first
I thought I was getting over my head when I stared in 2012
I truly cannot understate how much the colored manga helped
She tried B&W and couldnt get used to it
I agree, I wish they would release the color over here officially
It's annoying that they don't
Ikr 😒
Trying to get the colored english TL is like trying to steal the Declaration of Independence
I don't understand why they think there isn't a market here for it
Did DBZ color not sell well?
I think OP benefits a lot from the color version while DBZ mostly just looks worse and unappealing
OP does have a lot going on in panels vs DBZ
Even some chapters nowadays in OP I be like
OP is also vibrant as hell in general and the colors help sell the world a bit more for those who don't check out all the supplementary materials
Its not perfect but Ive read like 800 chapters of the color version and absolutely rec it to most people who don't mind pirating
My main issue is how it just creates this white halo effect around every character instead of redrawing the backgrounds behind em

But you get used to it
I have a thimble of native blood in me, I am white as hell but I want to have a western that actually has native americans in it
It will be for a while but that's okay
I was trying so hard to figure out what acronym this stood for...
Or like are you going at it by doing both simultaneously and figuring out stuff
It's a book
No I know this now Im just an idiot
Ah okay that's nice
All three of my WIP are in planning

I kinda just juggle both. I am not worried about finishing anytime soon, it just feels nice to kinda get going

Just know that sometimes when you don't feel like you are making progress, just get words on paper and it would help
John Steinbeck said when he was unmotivated he would write 1 page per day

Steinback the goat
Steinbeck def the goat
Getting stuff done while also not burning himself out
I wrote my junior year AP Languages paper on Steinbeck lol
He was my "great American author"
What's your favorite work of his
My WIP need extensive research so I am not able to manage it well with studies
oh damn
nice
Grapes
Has only gotten better to me with more rereads
Damn Euge might have good taste
Massive research, respect. Makes for the best stuff
Hella
I have a collection of his short works and east of eden around here somewhere
Of Mice and Men is p alright for me
I havent read it in a long time
i like east of eden more
I also like it more than OMAM
Of Mice and Men ||The ending was traumatic tho thats why its been a minute||
East of Eden is def one of the "classics" on my to-read list
I think part of why it didn't work for me is cuz I read it between two stuff I really really liked
Like reading it after The Stranger wasn't probably a good idra
idea
when we had to read Of Mice and Men in high school and some kids skipped to the end and spoiled everyone and people actually got upset and they had to sit our whole year level down and yell at us and tell us spoiling people is not cool
Got this on sale for like 10 bucks years ago. Still need to read some of em
Good worldbuilding is hard man. I am still stuck in just researching for it
Makes me respect RJ so much more
high school english reading was one of the most torturous things, we had to read three men in a boat one year and a hilarious story was rendered boring as fuck due to analysis
shit is absurdly hilarious but you read it in high school and the way we had to analyse why things in the book happened made us lose all the feeling for it
My fav "classic literature books" are prolly like
- Grapes of Wrath
- Catcher in the Rye
- 1984
- Great Gatsby
- Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit is a great pick
And then anything by Hemmingway is below the bottom

I can't make a list of books this way. Like too many almost same amount
I respect his straightforward style but I cant say I love anything Ive read by Hemingway
For Whom the Bell Tolls was the single book in high school I didnt read and read the summary for
I tried to read all the "classic" literature books in high school
Hemmingway is the one mountain I could never climb
my favorite of his is "farewell to arms"
I was trying to search the name of this lol
Prefer stuff a bit more purple?
Pretty much! I find his prose to be very basic and yet overly descriptive
I like different styles 😎
When I used to read more of the classics, I used Faulkner and Hemmingway as like
My parameters of what a book was like
I tend to prefer closer to Hemmingway, but respect the artistry of a Faulkner
My fav style is Jane Austen's and most silver age scifi
But I also come from a heavy fantasy background and many of those authors aren't too lyrical
Silver age, what authors are those
Not like Asimov no?
One of my best friends did his junior year paper on Heinlein
Oh I have a couple of Phillip
First time I ever heard of him
Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and Man in the High Castle
Philip K Dick is like height of what scifi can do for me
Androids was kinda the inspiration for Blade Runner
crazy
I read anything BUT classic literature growing up lol
I guess you haven't read much social scifi?
Or like more speculative than space operas
A to Z Mysteries
Not a whole lot no
Makes sense
I was gonna say A Series of Unfortunate Events
I think the only adjacent one I’ve read is Enders Game
If you are like present in scifi circle, you would have heard of Dick
One of my favorite authors
I actually really need to read Tolkien
What draws ya to him
Never read LOTR
for like scifi depicting future, Foundation and Dune's styles are the only type of worldbuilding that works for me
I have blasphemous opinions on Tolkien's writing
Dw Sab I have grown out of Tolkien too 🏃♂️
Great knowledge of Science which like makes him take good decisions in how he speculates the future and "scifi"
But like I would rather recommend Way Station now
It is such a master class in scifi
Some classics on my to read list
- Ulysses
- Crime and Punishment
- The Trial
- Pride and Prejudice
- In Cold Blood (I have this one)
- Catch-22
BRUH
I respect that
How did I forget my actual favorite classic novel
Which is?
sally rooney is an incisive talented writer that people dismiss as romance slop; rf kuang is tropeslop that people treat like esoterica
QRT: uskglasses
rf kuang and sally rooney should have swapped reputations
Move everything down but Grapes and No. 2 is ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST
I will never stop loving that book
I’d love it even more if the copy I loaned to someone 6 years ago was returned to me 😒
I have a really nice copy of One Flew Over, but sadly I have no clue which storage box it is in
Man people do not like RF Kuang
her reputation after katabasis has kinda slid down
She wrote Poppy War right?
yes
I remember reading like a synopsis and was like cool I'll pick it up, then a bunch of reviews said that the synopsis was kinda a lie
So I ended up skipping
Has it
It seems about as mixed as Babel
Babel was mixed??
Extremely
I thought that was being touted as king of the mountain
she has 0 subtlety
I saw it everywhere
Guys what about the best author of our times Sarah J. Maas??
She has her audience
My mother
I think that those who enjoy her have fun but uh
I would not call at least the first book I was given a breakdown of good
There can be no objectivity in art so I can't judge that way
but like
idk Any bit of ACOTAR that I didn't like was loved by my ex
I have no qualms with the subgenre she writes in. I am saying the first book just. Was bad
Well the breakdown of it
She certainly has a fanbase
I did not personally read it
I read them
and like its okay
I have read much worse
I also have tendency to like anything and look at positives only
it was a decently crafted world, I liked the main character, I liked the prose more than I like the generally touted good prose of recent fantasy, the story was okay, the ending was predictable but still okay
What I will say for Maas and well for that subgenre, it is unfairly hated on from what I can tell. There are problematic things in Some books but the subgenre as a whole gets lumped in unfairly
I think its escapism and her audience's escapism is posessive MMC
🏃♂️
Which well I ain't judging people's kinks and fetishes
Everyone had their taste. I ask for the same treatment when I watch my shitty early 2000s gothic hero movies
Idk if unpopular opinion but I enjoyed wicked 2 much more than wicked 1 lol

Really? I might have to look it up 🤔 never pass on a good movie
Marvel starting 1968 with a bang
morning
Chris Stuckmann uploaded a "review" of Wicked: For Good with an explicit gambling app advertisement baked in that accounts for 20% of the video.
"Begin your Wicked slot journey today!"
YouTube had the video temporarily taken down because of a breach of community guidelines.
Presumably because he is shilling a predatory gambling app to untold thousands, including children and now it's back up with the age restriction.
What the fuck happened to this man.
.....wow i lose respect 😭 he was my favorite reviewer
This looks absolutely dreadful
QRT: SphereVegas
The sky says it all, #WOZatSphere awaits.🎟️: https://bit.ly/WOZSurrenderDorothyTixX
A panel from Strange Tales #167 was plagiarized for the cover of the original Dungeons & Dragons 1974 boxed set. After it was discovered, later printings changed the cover art.
Insane
Not the first time a Dr Strange art shows up somewhere else
Stranger things s5 ep4 end || The season so far has been great, especially the last episode it was actually movie level. Tho just a bit of a nitpick, I realize it's a trope in most fiction, but I'm tired of the brutal fast monster suddenly walking in slow mo when he's approaching main characters, it doesn't have the suspense they think they're doing. Not to mention how the military got swiftly destroyed because they're not important.
Will getting vecna's powers was cool. Also thankful that it's not that big of a cliffhanger. Seasons releasing in parts is still terrible tho||
Stranger thing s5 ep4 end ||I think the suspense and reveal of vecna at the end was great, how he approached Will and whatnot, given how fast and brutal everything else was up to that point. Good contrast, and tension given he didn’t kill him, a breather from the intense slaughter at the moment. If he had just run out and started killing it wouldn’t have made too much sense, it was a slow reveal in comparison to 008 being revealed as well. Also the military getting slimed was kinda peak, the real fight doesn’t involve them. Overall it was a great ending for this chunk of episodes methinks||
Stranger things s5 ep4 end ||it also made sense with the slow defeat from the Demegorgons , everyone down and the kids getting taken slowly. Ending on a high adrenaline victory wouldn’t have made sense for the lead up for the rest of the episodes. I love everything so far though||
Damn The Pitt is crazy
SOOO GOOOOD right
I watched it then watched Dr Mike YouTube channel react to it
He really praised.it for accuracy
I think I just finished episode 8
Yeah it’s very accurate, kind wish I had my neuro block though
And its by my GOAT Noah wyle
I binged it so don't remember specific ep boundaries
I like like it doesn't have extra soundtracks or anything
And like manages to create a wholly immersive story focusing on actual reality and getting the emotions out of those
The Pitt episode 9 (just incase I just finished 9 instead of 8, too lazy to look rn) ||They just did the honor walk for the organ donor and the little girl (maybe twin?) just died from drowning. I’m so sick of Dr Santos, the intern, by this point. I was hoping for some big turn around for her character but I have to remember this series is all taking place in one shift, someone isn’t going to get better that quickly. ||
Absolute Batman / Absolute Wonderwoman (fanart) || https://fixupx.com/mascaraline/status/1994022374296220119?s=46 ||
Holy fuck I love you
Quoting pizza 🍕 (@pizza990)
︀
@mascaraline my coloring is not the best but i tried 😭
Bruh

So cute
Peanuts is high quality
||STERANKO
|| Strange Tales #167
A quadruple spread in the laste 1960s, never saw it coming
Shelby oaks tax hitting
After he turbo glazed movies I dint like back to bsck form months I dropped him
So I'm not suprised
Strange Tales #167
Iron Man & Sub-Mariner one-shot
JACK KIRBY
(Captain America #100)
||Black Panther to the Avengers
|| Captain America #100
anyone watching Pluribus?
havent watched the latest one but yeah
Yeahh
Maybe
is it good?
Yes
Its great
Keep watching boy
stranger things s5 ep 1 ||they just gonna retcon vecna into season 1 now huh, this some shit oda would do lol||
LOLL TRUE
Watching a documentary from the late 90s called Synthetic Pleasures talking about the technological revolution and the way a whole new digital frontier was emerging from our efforts to control nature
The fuckin
Earnest excitement and optimism of this, now with so many years of hindsight
Is almost infuriating lmao
If not for enshittification...
Hahahaha
flirting (oda) vs harrassment (duffer brothers)
Shout-out to the 28 year old woman in this who wants to cryogenically freeze herself cuz she's dating an underage kid and wants to timeskip to the point they're the same age
What was happening in the 90s
Funniest takeaway from this documentary is that the futuristic transhumanistic cyberspace forums they were dreaming up the whole time ended up becoming VRChat
All of human history was just a slow burn journey to reach that Ugandan Knuckles meme
Oh how the internet works
Once the Cold war was over the Internet Age began to take swing and exposed a bunch of people to a bunch of new ideas. Needless to say people were extremely optimistic given the quick advancements in technology
I'm pretty happy with the present. It's not prefect but I wouldn't go back to the 90s if I could. I think there's also some nostalgia making people think the past was better than it actually was
Guys
I got books
I have nver read a joe abercrombie book so i wanna go to him after brandon
The first is ' the blade itself'
This is a stand alone but u need context from the trilogy
Fr?
Do you actually need context or is it like
One guy whos in those books is in these
I saw the blade itself but it looked really beat up
So i didny want it
Its a bit of both. There are multiple characters from the trilogy in this. You could read it as a stand alone but i wouldnt recommend it tbh. Its best read after the trilogy.
I just looked up next best series and this popped up
Dont trust google ai
It will just sit in my shelf then
wombat you didn't use AI to determine this was the first book right?
No, I didn’t. It just said it was standalone.
oh. i guess that is technically true. but I guess in the wrong kind of way?
I knew the blade itself was the one everyone liked
But like i said
The copy was super beat up
So i didn’t go for it
then again, people hocking a product will tell you that you don't need to experience the ones that came before that book/movie/game, because they just want to sell product at the end of the day
U shouldve gotten maybe the devils instead.
Actually, I’ll just get it and wind and truth on Amazon
Bezos thanks you for your contribution
yeah i tend to save them for a last resort myself
Even if they’re cheaper i like bring able to go to a bookstore
i'm lucky this city has lots of bookstores, but if you're in a country area it's probably a lot harder. but I think half priced at least can be found in some areas
I have a balf priced and a barnes and no les
I lean towards barnes and nobles but maybe i go back to hpb because i swear half the time barnes and nobles “new books” look beat up anyways
Dents or bends or shit
got all of the first law trilogoy because it was only 8 bucks more then just getting the first one by itself and because fuck ti does anything matter anymore
Why cuz you got some stuff spoiled?
no because apparently im a stupid dumb chud who cant do anything right
i got these books right here
and I thought best served cold was a standalone series
fuck me i guess
You can start with BSC
They are adapting BSC into a movie to begin the series' adaptations
well the books have already been bought
I don't understand
and I wanted to get the blade itself anyways just the copy they had at barnes and nobles was beat up so I didnt want to get that one
you have first law, age of madness and BSC?
Or just BSC
I Don't understand the issue
you can just start with it
and then i was told it had spoilers and stuff and things from the first law trilogy
Ehhhh
so i was told to read that first
You won't pick them up
the books have already been purchased along with wind and truth
or forget them when you get to First Law
Cuz see
If the writer thinks it getting movie adaptation won't ruin the adaptation of first Law
Then idk why you are so worked up
middle one looks like the zelda cdi shopkeeper
i didnt know there was a movie of first law
all i knew was mr abercrombie was a prolific fantasy writer and i watned to read a book by him
it sounds like a book where you follow a redditor and that sounds awesome
It's what it's starting with cuz its standalone enough and has Abercrombie's strength
the thing is, it would have spoilers about general world stuff and some character's cuz they are impactful to the world
but its not to the point that you can't read BSC to start it
Oh it's @valid thunder who told you bullshit
ive started rhythm of war so thats the top priority rn
Nice
chunky big boy book
Can be read in a day book
not a singel soul read rhythm of awar in a day
I have multiple friends who did that with Rhythm and WaT
I could have too but that way I wouldn't have fun thinking through the implications of stuff. I read TFE in like 9 hours in my first time and rhythm is like twice of it anyway
thats crazy
i think i read decently fast when im reading but like
reading 1200 pages in one day
how do you sit there that long
Some people have faster speeds
Even my speed is more with ebook than with paperback
the whole thickness of the book and having to turn the pages takes me out of it sometimes in the way ebook doesn't
thats part of the reason why i dont like hardbacks instead of big boy paperbacks
Plus like I can't read as well while sleeping or stuff cuz like I am afraid I might ruin the book
Or cuz lights better in one direction and not in another
Memorial Engine was a really cute short
Usually a bit wary of college works trying to ape Studio Ghibli cuz that's always been trendy, and most of the time they're really hollow, but this was actually pretty effective and had its own voice
just watched the new episodes of stranger things
i'm sorry
Have u even read bsc ?
Bsc \ first law ending spoiler|| he would get spoiled about jezal becoming the king ||
He can read it first if he wants to but its just a better experience to read them in order
That's what i was referring to in my message around that
Yea so thats a major spoiler
Eh. That would just work in different way
@wooden swift i know you can crack the world of zootopia
bro
U j wanna be a contrarian now
😭
First law || its literally set up from the first book. Its a major plot line.||
Goro would never be a contrarian
I never really am???
i see what you did there
My mate spoke really highly about it, I started listening to it and now he started the dandelion dynasty
Logen and glokta easily
When did you read Dandy 👀

Like 2 years ago?
It took me over a year to finish
The first book was the best in the series
Had enough of it when I was up to the 3rd book
They're wrong
People want more focused books for PoV. Can't blame them
What's on your list after First Law?
Age of madness or some other book?
Not sure
Im waiting for red god to come out
I didnt finish lightbringer because I didnt want to be blue balled waiting for the next book
Maybe Red seas under red skies or drummindor next
Didn't know you read GB
if you want a stand alone book, I would recommend Sword of Kaigen
my plan to read next year
Ill have a look into it, if it sounds good ill finish that one next, rather do a stand alone instead of anothe series next
It'd a 5/5
Yooo hardcover

They are going open source next month. Gonna contribute an advanced tags/moods/genre filter like there's in anilist
I thought u disliked rf kuang
i still wanna read everything she's done
He has hated every thing he has read of her
Also u should read the heroes and red country before the age of madness i think
Ehh
Arguably the stand alone trilogy is as good as first law. The heroes especially is crazy good
new reads of 2025
Its the publication and chronological order
I dont see any reason to skip good books lol
Alot of first law fans have the heroes or red country as their favorite
Twin Peaks S2 ep. 6 ||Working my way back through the series and I never realized how unintentionally hilarious it is that Ben had a picture of Laura on his desk the whole time. Yeah man, not suspicious whatsoever||
True love for this series is forged through experiencing the soapier lows of S2
@paper shadow was banned!
Reason: scam link
Yeah heard alot of good things About it
Been on my ptw for years
True Detective? The first season with McConaughey is great
only the season 1 is great tho then they just change cast and some other stuff and it doesn't feel the same
True detective || is it the one where his partner tells him to stop saying weird shit like “I think human consciousness was a tragic misstep in evolution” ?||
Oh alright didn't know that
yes
Might give it a watch then
Yes, True Detective season 1 ||his character is a weirdo nihilist||
Sounds like me frfr
Honestly, I think I should do a PTR too for 26
I wanna read and watch more stuff
Gotta make my dream of writing a story real
I was actually thinking of you as I wrote that
STOP BULLYING ME INTO ACHIEVING MY DREAMS
Read more fucking books motherfucker
Gotta do that 😎
make a Hardcover account and lets bully each others into reaching reading goals fr
I made a reading goal to read 50 books next year
Is that like substack?
No. It's like Goodreads but like not by Amazon and better
and continuously improving
Oh so for tracking and renewing books?
I’ll think about it
I’m mainly more into manga currently
And the western books I’d read aren’t really stories lol
Last western story I read was before the coffee gets cold p3
Until it got too sad and I stopped
Just keep track of non ficiton too easy
Dawg isn’t even reading manga
“Mainly more into manga” where
mainly more into manga is like me
reading 200 chapters in a day
Not my fault monster isn’t captivating enough
It’s your fault you’re a lazy bum
REAL
True
But nah fr I really think ill get to it this time
I’ll make a proper ptr
I’ll probably read 2-3 series then reread or rewatch smth I love
And cycle that way
3 for yall, one for me

I still don’t get what that emote means
Pluribus Ep3 - || ok wow 😭 thank god she didn't ask for a Nuke||
Conversation got me in a mood
Watching GMK: Giant Monsters All Out Attack
Gotta get used to the dub overs in these 90s and 00s Godzilla films lol
enjoy peak
GMK ||woah baragon is in this??||
It was initially going to be || Varan, baragon, and Anguirus || gmk
GMK ||Varans a loser idiot so good riddance
Anguirus cut is TRAGIC||
Stranger Things S5 ep 5 || Okay soooo Will has powers like El and Vecna now, cool. Vecna must've gave it to him and I don't understand why. If Vecna learned from Will that kindnapping kids is the best way to build an army. Than he's basically just forgeing a super power army against him. Cause there's nothing he's done since the first kidnap from WIll up to Holly that's proven he is able to keep these kids on his side. None of them are with him. So he's basically setting up his own demise. The writers have to know that, so I don't understand why ||
You forgot the s5 label btw
oh word.. you know I dont be follwoing rules in this piece
you should, its really good
lol
Yoo john green
I respect john green so hard
I grew up being forced to watch him in class and then realized as I grew up hr just wants to educate the masses
Idk what any of his actual books are like but
read anthropocene reviewed
I’ll add it
John green my goat
- Godzilla Minus One
- Godzilla (1954)
- Shin Godzilla
- Godzilla vs. Biollante
- Godzilla vs. Hedorah
- GMK
- Rodan
- War of the Gargantuas
- Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster
- Terror of Mecha Godzilla
GMK immediately cracks the top ten as probably the best example of the giant monster battle 101 formula but being so built around a familiarity with all these Kaiju robs it of just enough identity to not crack the top 5
Not a favorite but it's a great film and I could see this being the most rewatchable one
Bon top 10 movies of all time
No!
Pluribus ep 5 - || so they are definitely drinking human remains right... ||
Wow it’s already at episode 5? Did it drop all at once?
All at once yeah, at least a batch of 5 this time, then another batch later and then the finale last after sometime
Wait whole season is out ?
No
Ok mb i read that wrong
Pluribus isnt dropping in batches
Stranger Things s5 ||we have anime flashbacks now 🔥😭||
Die Hard ||This was a fun rewatch, I never realized it was based off of a book. Gonna get it and see how it is compared to the movie, real sad what happened to Bruce.||
Spoiled yourself
Next ep in 7 days from now I believe
They had dropped it early due to turkey day
Lol what you mean I'm caught up
I know what you saw
😭 ya the end of the episode
I'm rewatching the harry potter movies and I just thought of a plot hole lol
HP deathly hallows pt 1 ||they could have still used sirius's house as a hiding place even after that death eater guy saw it, all they had to do was wipe his memories||
Same top three but different order
Shin, -1, 1954
Yeah ultimately I like Godzilla as a horror icon more than Godzilla as a monster mash WrestleMania icon so those three stand out
I do like THAT part of the franchise too
They're just inherently more shallow
Even if I do clap every time Mothra is on screen
2014 is this for people who think monster movies are stupid and can't take the brand seriously
HP DH || characters remembering magic based solutions after 1 movie? Daring are we ||
Deathly hallows pt 1 ||they literally wipe the minds of 2 death eaters at the coffee shop in the same movie||
Damn so even more stupid than I remember
Watched Uncharted earlier
p okay
I remember Tom Holland to be a better actor than he was in this...
Hp deathly hallows pt 1 ||jk rowling didn't have to do my boy Dobby like that||
time for my yearly harry potter binge
Watch good stuff!
harry potter is good stuff
:lies;
I usually do a marathon around the holidays
yeah same here
usually drop it after movie 5 lol
lol
The last time I did a HP marathon was like 10 years ago
That's about the point I fell off the series
I am rereading the books currently. The giant flaws are still giant, but as a millennial who grew up with the franchise, I am nostalgic for it
I just finished Goblet of Fire like 5 mins ago
Still had fun with the fun parts but yeah. The flaws are bad bad
I barely care for any of the things I grew up with anymore
well, movie wise
and anime wise
How it goes
Goblet of Fire still has a place in my heart as it was the first fantasy book I read
I will forever love the anime I grew up with
and it opened me to the genre and medium as a whole
trigun, cowboy bebop, gundam wing
I still like prisoner of azkhaban
Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite of the series
And the movie is great
Sucks about the rest of it
yup lol
If HP was anime he would like it
lmfao
buddy acts like I dont dislike 90% of the anime I watch
alfonso too good
cant stop himself from throwing a jab at me every time Im in chat...
Trigun is actually great. Rewatched it a couple of years ago
❤️
LOVE AND PEACE
You should watch the latest one glex
I would send the gif here but Red's here
Tell me what you think
It makes it hard to enjoy when you so vehemently disagree with JK Rowling on so many things and how she coulda so easily just shut up and collected money
he should not
lmao
But if you want to see how badly they butchered it, you could try
This is true too
She’s just also not a good writer
Not really no
Double whammy
It’s like Taylor swift in book form
god I wanted to make a joke that was so obviously a joke but taken out of context would look horrible lol
do it you won't
Go ahead and make it you are among friends
You read her stuff and you go "well shit that was bad why didnt you just do this"
it makes it so hard to agree with JK Rowlings statements when she made something as bad as Harry Potter /s
Atp I just stopped trying to learn more about the authors
After JK Rowling and more specifically Orson Scott Card
Alright bro
fuck you how dare you
piece of shit
Orson Scott Card made me feel vindicated
GUYS YOU SAID YOUD UNDERSTAND IT WAS A JOKE
I didn't like Enders Game when I had to read it in high school
Mappuru storeee
I like that series and like the stuff he explores don't match how conservative and shitty his views are
Doesn't make sense he wrote that lol
It's insane to me he wrote that book
as a fan of manga Id lose a lot of series I like if I cared about the mangaka's opinions...
I know I've said this before, but its wild to me that my dog luffy loves to watch movies
I now don't care unless they are benefitting from me purchasing the books
like say Lovecraft
Enders Game ||Orson Scott Card: writes a book about how you need to see past the outside of people, how a innocent species was made into a villain
Also Orson Scott Card: I hate gay people they are evil||
Im too much of a collector not to buy manga I love but yeah thats the best way to go about it
Is that true though? Most are pretty quiet. Idk if a lot is accurate unless you’re including their crimes etc
its moreso stuff like kenshin, made in abyss, etc
lol
Act Age too maybe
I never got into those and learning of the Mangakas crimes, I don't think I will
Right but like for kenshin and Mia it’s more their actions rather their opinions lol
That’s why I was like idk very many that are super outspoken lol
in a sense. Technically MiA mangaka hasnt been arrested or caught for anything yet but the signs are there...
its coming...
You have like Usogui mangaka
Kenshin I know was a lot of people's like nostalgia series, that has to be difficult to wrap your mind around
who's a white supremacist
usogui mangaka is the best example
and homophobic
Like the composer for dragon quest is outspoken. And his opinion was rancid
*was
Rest in piss
Bad people can make good things. Unfortunately it's something that is true. I think it's up to the individual how they want to go about it
I think goro's approach is the healthiest
dont support even if you consume
but I dont think people should think too hardly about the opinions of creators when deciding to consume
This
you'd be surprised how many of them hold those thoughts in their minds
The only reason I consume HP now is I already owned the books and movies
I read Sorcerer's Stone like 8 months before the movie dropped
yup same sab
sorcerer's stone is the only book I read
Besides, A series of unfortunate events is better
I think at that point the 2nd movie was already out
I'm missing the first 3 books, but don't plan on buying them brand new
I am assuming the bad beginning
That's the Reptile Room
thats the one then
I am glad you enjoyed it
In my school they read sorcerers stone to us during our reading period
in my school reading period was picking our own books
ASOUE is my favorite series I grew up with as a kid. I own an art print from the illustrator
And yeah I had the same as Red
A song of unreal engine?
We had assigned books but also could choose our own in between
I remember reading some weird ass book that I dont even remember the name of
it had a fighter jet on the cover
A Series of Unfortunate Events
Oh
but it wasnt about fighter jets
I have zero clue
We were assigned uhhh
Well depending on the year
Hatchet by Gary Paulson, The Giver, uhm
I think Holes
We had other ones, but my memory is foggy
I remember reading a bunch of Roald Dahl books, Loser, and I think Inkheart
my school read I think it was called "the outsiders"
Yeah that was in freshman year for me
I think it was 7th grade for me
We also did the standards, lord of the flies, animal farm, Fahrenheit 451
The irony of Fahrenheit 451 growing up in Idaho, where they restrict book access with ID's now
Is fucking hilarious

This
Story is meh
But it is a nice vibe
It's nothing overly special but it's nostalgic
Im in florida where Im p sure parents are tearing any books out that have even suggestive material
from school libraries
Yeah I heard that Red
Red states going bananas with book restrictions
But I bet they will still teach Fahrenheit 451
And not get the absolute irony
peak;...,,,
I donated my books to the library
Years ago
I respect that choice
Roald Dahl my beloved
Roal Dahl also wasn't a good dude lmao
😭
😭
Well... he dead so won't benefit from me buying his books
It's good to be vigilant of this info, but at the same time, I think a lot of popular artists are just kinda meh to bad people
Stay informed, buy/or consume as close to your moral standard as possible, and don't get too wrapped up in something
Roald Dahl was what I read growing up
Like the books that introduced me to what books were...
He did for a lot of people
my dream of being a writer came from him
That's why I say what I say, can't really hate on someone for enjoying things like that
Like would follow his routine of having 7 pencils sharped and writing for a day until they all were blunt lol
smh people have zero respect the grind nowadays
Never let someone Shame you
Zootopia 2 became the highest opening hollywood movie in chinese box office history, overtaking Endgame
the furry propaganda is in full effect
i enjoyed the movie but it's nun crazy
ion get why people losing their minds
that damn fox
You think they will still have it in theaters by dec 13th
Might go with the fam
I love the mystery in it
same
its weird I also am watching hp videos currently, some about plot holes ...
Anyone here a sitcom fan ?
🫀
You’re already there?
I’m on rhythm of war
Just started
Just bought it cause it was Black Friday
And it was 16 bucks
I’m starting oathbringer tomorrow
Very good book
Wrhythm Wof Wwar
What is your stormlight ranking Buffy
so far for me its 2 1 3
5 3 2.5 1 3.5 4 2
2 in last is insane
3 last? Sus
mfs havent even read the book and they already calling the placement sus
😭
read a chapter bro
also last is still like, least great
🤫
Liking words of radiance more than oathbringer is definitely a take
man everyone out for me
I have the same take
TWOK and WOR are about equal for me
Oathbringer has great moments but others I dont super enjoy
OB|| I don't like Dalinars non flashback stuff before the end of the book. Sanderson writes boring politcing, especially coming off game of thrones||
ya theyre both super close to me as well
TWoK is p good. WoR is still a darn good book (4/5) but it's so so below than other Stormlight for me
Every Stormlight book provides something unique in the genre, except WoR which feels more like a battle shounen than a fantasy book
Stormlight twok to RoW ||
TWOK juxtaposes demystifying myths and legends with a character becoming the figure of the myth, in one of the most unique world ever crafted.
OB does the humans being the voidbringer reveal.
RoW explores technological advancement of a magic based world, with so very thought out way of how magic is studied in this world and technology around magic is crafted and developed ||
The burning god || So I guess I was correct to increasingly dislike rin over the course of the book? Based on the end that seems like it was the intention. That does solve some of my complaints but not the main one that many of the major twists of fate throughout kinda feel like dumb luck from rin's perspective ||
Fair
Kuang does add some contrivances to reach to the point she wants to explore the themes she does
Is the dark tower good?
I been watching that it TV show recently
Dark tower adaptation is abysmal tho
It's getting a new one by Mike Flanagan so it would be good
It's tempting to insert another series before stormlight in the queue again but I think it's finally time. Maybe dark tower after
Nice
A book server I am in is doing Dark Tower buddy read so might reread it too
Tempting it may be but I also need to continue Malazan
Will be peak
Trust in the goat Flanagan
Easily recommend the entire series
One of the favorites
Metroid in 4 days
So true
3 days

Is funny, this cover is super misleading for this issue, but fitting for the proper cunt Guy will become in the mid 1980s
Halfway through SE7EN (1995) ||Mills' wife has to 100% be the killer and one of the next kills is gonna be the shitty real estate dealer who sold them the bad house. I would assume the killer is an established character and its probably not mills nor somerset and she's the only other one in the movie thus far. the 4 sins we havent seen are Wrath, Pride, Lust and Envy so mabye the real estate could fit under pride/envy? either way thats just my intuition and baseless assumptions||
FWWM time
twin PEAKs
Twin Peaks S2 ep. 22 ||Any Black Lodge or adjacent scene is automatically iconic, but I think there’s a strong argument for the sequences in this episode being among the best the series has to offer. For every lull or outrageous creative decision present throughout the second season is an episode, like the finale, that completely blows me away||
2/3rds through SE7EN ||it being the photographer is pretty funny and really unexpected , I thought it was just a little comedic relief moment. then again it could be a distraction from the REAL killer (mills' wife).||
SE7EN very near the end (1995) ||john doe says theres 2 more bodies and he's only taking the 2 detectives?? both who just happened to fit into wrath (mills) and envy (somerset), the 2 sins we havent seen?? please tell me im right about this😭also he said that if they dont accept the 2 bodies will never be found. somerset and mills wont be killed, thats why they will never be found. this has to be what he means ||

Dang j finish the movie dawg 😭

Let him say his shit bruh
Completed Frankenstein last night. Overall great book. ||Although, it has repetitive elements with all the woe is me and travelogue stuff, and I do find the story is better in the first half. it seems to dip a little after the monster tells his story in the cave||
Started Dune back up again afterwards. I was 1/4 through it and so it's gonna take a minute to get my bearings.
have fun
@foggy mirage @limber urchin
Time for WTD
yeah lunchtime for me
FWWM / The Missing Pieces ||A lot of the extended and deleted scenes feel incredibly necessary to set the tone. On top of that, a handful of them are flat out brilliantly shot. Unfortunate that there isn’t a way to watch the original film with that stuff integrated in.
Anyways, peak fucking cinema||
FWWM || “I always thought you knew it was me”
“I never knew you knew it was me”
Hardest scene to stomach in the entire series, imo. Perfectly illuminates Leland’s complicity in Laura’s abuse in a way that the original series couldn’t capture||
Fire Walk With Me ||that dining table scene just haunts me, man||
FWWM ||Sheryl Lee’s performance, and acting prowess in general, feels largely underrated, in my experience. That’s a scene where I found her acting particularly good and the way that she’s able to convey Laura’s fear is the primary selling point||
Yeah I’m stoked
we are winning so hard man i cant wait for that first trailer
Lanterns in general ig idk ||im not expecting to see other lanterns like killawog (slaughtered spelling prolly) or have us see OA etc. I did hear the suit might be a different one than most people want but im open to it. Very excited and I wonder if it’ll tie into peacemaker s2 finale ||
lanterns speculation ||i want oa crumbs but i'm guaranteed john stewart and hal jordan greatness||
lanterns ||i think the purpose of this show is to have john become the sole lantern for earth||
Lanterns ||oh yeah I just mean in the future. The lantern corps too crazy to not expand on||
true
||I wonder how long this will last|| X-Men #42
Twin Peaks S3 eps. 1&2 ||I fucking love The Return so much but I’ll never get over not being able to see Michael J. Anderson as the Arm again||
WTD ep 6 ||God I love this intro song so much - just sooo catchy. Don't spoil the episode for me, though, I just started.||
Nah just a rumor/leak? I think a teaser was shown in I wanna say Brazil or Mexico
I could very well be wrong
the One Piece is real
WTD and IT Ep 6 ||Damn, crazy good episode! The twist reveal of the nurse's father being the inspiration for the form of Pennywise, and her obession with seeing her father again, was just chef's kiss. Coupled with the black and white was so perfect of a choice too. Can't believe they decided to end it right at the horrors of the Black Spot. I'm guessing they won't show what happens, but only the news and/or aftermath?||
IT ||Although, I do have one criticism. There were never kids at the original black spot right? They were just serving alcohol to kids. Crazy.||
is stranger things split up into 2 or 3
for this season ion remember seeing the sched
my fault og
Watched that shit before both Ya'll but it was a great ep@limber urchin
Wtd ep 6 ||I feel its too good to pass up the black spot to not do it next episode. This is the big kick off event to end the feeding cycle. So I definitely feel like its built up to this. That kirsh lady is insane feeding kids to pennywise just to talk to someone pretending to be her dad. And she doesnt even care about lily's friends just trying to free her dad. But she has no clue pennywise ate him ages ago. On the kids point i guess they dont care about serving booze to minors.||
rate the episode relative to last
If I'm being honest last ep was a strong 9 for me
This one is like an 8
I feel the last 2 will be 10s though
WTD and IT ||One key theme in the book was this idea that adults looked past bad things consistently. Could something as small as serving alcohol to minors be part of that? Or is that reading too much into it? Do the people of Derry only look away when it comes to the more violent stuff?||
Wtd ep 6 and IT ||I feel you could read it like that. I always assumed pennywise fed more into the violence but I can totally see it letting underage drinking slip. In the end its leading directly to this, since as you saw retired chief + alcohol = horrible incident with the black spot. Or you can see it as the writers giving this gang some small breathing room before everything gets 100× worse. But I can buy both versions, most people don't think twice when doing shit like that in derry.||
IT novel ||Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Black Spot a bigger location in the book? Like size of barn kind of thing?||
IT novel ||I do think you are correct, in the book pennywise turned into a bird like form and was snatching away people who ran outside too if my memory is correct. A bunch of people burned to death, besides the ones he dragged away. So I think it was around 35-40 people died in the novel there. From the Mike Pov chapter I remember. And dick was there to save him and some others using the shining.||
IT novel ||Ah I knew there was a bird form but I couldn't remember where it showed up! Was it also at the Iron Works at all?||
IT novel ||great memory Buffy, Mike was wandering around there in his free time. And pennywise chases him around the iron works remains looking like a half rodan/half clown bird monster. I do believe its a similar form to the one used in the black spot incident.||
IT novel || also in the books the iron works was holding an easter egg hunt for kids and adults, the place was completely shut down yet still blew up. And like 108 people died from the explosion and fire...then 8 bodies went missing during the event. A big pennywise buffet moment before a huge nap as usual.||
OK yes this is exactly what I had in my memory banks. Alzeimer's hasn't won yet!!
Yeah don't worry its not slipped up yet
Memory just weird like that sometimes
WTD ep 6 - || loool get the fuck outta here pennywise at the start of the episode is crazy ||
The opening is always a bop
@foggy mirage
WTD ep 6 - || I know what's running through wills dads head , Boyyyyyy lol I seen that look before
||
Wtd ep 6 ||so much for being immune to fear btw lmao. Pennywise got his brain in a vice at this point. Instant smack shit.||
Wtd ep 6 ||those mfs definitely gonna use tf out of bill now that the clown is out the bag||

@foggy mirage
WTD ep 6 - || wow you were right, they brought em to the black spot ||
WTD ep 6 - || young halaren is so good
"you fucking bootlicker!!"||
Wtd ep 6 ||yeah will's dad being a dickhead he has no idea how horrible it is or what the shining really does to you. He's making a lot of big assumptions about dick.||
Had that guess locked in
These two better be safe
WTD ep 6 - || another day of lilly being the dumbest kid I ever seen literally 0 survival skills ||
Wtd ep 6 ||she ran off to be by herself and took 10x the mental damage for it.||
House of Dynamites has to be one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen. I actually don't know if I'll ever recover from this
Dark Star feels way ahead of its time
For a second I thought you were talking dark star from a song of ice and fire
Christ
Never read a sentence of that series or watched a second of its show
I played elden ring that's my only exposure to grrm
The books are incredible
You ain’t missing much
Books are very much worth it
Show not so much
Im boring and read mostly textbooky shit
Like I'm slowly working through a book I picked up covering the geological history of the Colorado Plateau area with maps
Sounds based
I'm so slow with books id rather do a few pages at a time of informational ones
Fiction takes me so long it loses me
I don’t think that’s boring at all, it’s very much cooler than fantasy no shade
Too rational
What can I do, I am just a chill guy
Oh yeah Nov ended
@spiral quest how did Nanowrimo go
It went well!
Definitely not anywhere near done
But I am happy with the progress
Also brainstormed some short stories as well. Gonna go for the Ray Bradbury method
Nice
Me getting confused between either wishing you the best cuz its a good thing or making fun of you and mock you cuz you're Wombat...
Jk. All the best man. Enjoy
I did a little writing not related to the idea but i have the idea and so i want to actually try
You can share snippets here if you want. We would be happy to make fun of you
holds up until you see goro's messages whenever hxh gets mentioned
lmao
It’s all just banter anyway
More like mid x mid
So true
this is old isnt it
I wonder if anyone actually complied
No idea. I don't watch Netflix slop...
@foggy mirage @limber urchin
WTD ep 6 / Sinners - || I legit think that entire sequence from Ingrid's house to the cliffhanger when they all pulled up was the creepiest 20 minutes of the entire series, the black and white with the red contrast is such a good look for Pennywise. Lol the run was a bit goofy but that shit gave me the heebie jeebies. Also was the end of the episode homage to Sinner or just a coincidence ||
I wonder if Monkey Punch watched this movie https://letterboxd.com/film/danger-diabolik/
Wtd ep 6 ||it was a good teaser for next season considering that cycle is the one they'll be showing for the 30s. And he really likes that new strut to run these kids down and scare the shit out of them.||
didn't he do that before too?
feel like I have seen him mentioning a list with most of this
This is his top 10
really based for Mad Max fury road tho
He did 11-20 earlier
Um is he stupid because i watched lost in translation and decided it was okay
I'm surprised he has midnight in Paris up there
Woody Allen is one of his idols I think
Ahh
I am always suspicious of military movies
Most of them are propaganda dressed up
yeah you quite literally need an approval from the military to make a movie that's about the military lol
wtf really?
That’s embarrassing
yep lol
you need a lot of equipmet, support from military, expert help - whatever, because making military movies is hard, you need the approval to get these resources at hand
and they wont let you make the movie if they feel the movie made is not adequately portraying the military or is doing that in a really bad light
Didn't know that. Makes even more sense
This is why come and see is the best one
I didn't have interest in those movies to start with
this is for the US
