And then asking the audience to join the journey as Superman established himself in the world
i remember seeing this in theaters with my mom, but for the life of me I can't remember if I was too ignorant to notice the bad CG at the time or not
Even you were young then man
Damn Vady here after so long
batman TAS ep34 ||got me teary eyed over here man ..||
how old is this movie? Early 2000s, right? 2003 maybe?
I was never gone I just only talk here for batman and cosmere
OK, it says Scorpion King was 2002. That would put me at around 15.
Nice nice
14-15, give or take
See how I drive you away Vady
Mistborn bad !
Oh not as young ad I'd think
But well the graphics and vfx in those time were not the best anyway
yeah cause 2002 is when I started high school I think, and I was 14 at the time, but maybe I turned 15 when the film came out, who knows
so might not look as bad as it does with current context
This looked amazing
Look, if it's not gonna have the same crazed energy as 1993's Mario Bros, what are we even doing?
the vibe they seem to be going for is nice
Is that the gay Mario movie one
Give me that sweet, sweet context.
Nvm I remembered wrong
was just a porn parody
that Nintendo bought the rights to to halt distribution
lmfaoooo
I thought you were trying to say the 93 film had Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo in a relationship I was unaware of.
lol ok
absolute HEAT
Way brtter then i thought it would look
I was expecting some tom holland shit
Wtd ep 4 ||big difference is in the book there is no meteor shards to contain or run it away. It stays derry because it likes to feed here.||
interesting
Also they still being wtd ep 4 ||wack about its true form, those 3 lights are not its true form. Its real body is bigger than our universe and whats in derry is just an avatar.||
I think IT wtd ep 4 ||they just keep saying this light shit because people can barely comprehend pennywise isnt a clown. Let a lone a reality warping, shape shifting entity from beyond our universe. I still see people complaining about how pennywise has all these powers.||
WTD ep 4 - || ya for sure, but i guess its to raise the stakes so it doesn't all feel meaningless. I do think we are finally going to see the star of the show though next episode ||
Wtd ep 4 ||to be fair it was all kinda meaningless that mf is not dead in the books. And pennywise is gonna win all 3 seasons. Cause this doesn't break the feeding cycle.||
Finally some peak
Wtd ep 4 || he better by 5 ep I better see this mf in the flesh so to speak.||
Knife of dreams || I’m so tired of having to read Shaido anything. I hate this faction. They’re just bumbling around the country side doing fuck all. I want a resolution to them quickly they’re just not interesting at all. It’s not even that the Shaido are not interesting I just have Sevanna ||
youre so close to the good books, only a little bit more
crossroads of twilight was probably my least favorite
Welcome to Derry - Ep04 ||Overall solid episode. Lilly trying to fish the pill out of the toilet was the peak of disgusting, coupled with the goofy and gnarly-as-hell snail scene. Man, that poor girl cannot catch a break; now everyone is going to assume she's a psycho killer. Also, I absolutely need to see the clown form 'cause it's clearly different from Pennywise's normal clown form in the films. And while the kid wasn't the greatest narrator in terms of provoking mood/atmosphere, the infodump of a backstory was great and well-earned. And Hallorann at the end there....is he being possessed by IT? That smile was unnerving. Bonus points for Hanlon seeing the balloons and actually believing his son.||
IT novel ||I'm pretty sure King described IT's true form as "writhing orange lights" in the novel right? But like as an otherworldly eldritch entity.||
It novel ||when looking at the deadlights coming off the avatar, but the real body is indescribable and bigger than our universe. So when it uses the dead lights in the book its a glimpse at that.||
What’s welcome to derry?
new hbo show i think it prequel or sequel or something
Prequel to IT movies
I’ve never watched IT
It uses stuff they din't adapt from the book
IT novel ||OK, so I was pretty close. It's true form is the eldritch entity (which are famously nigh indescribable to human senses), but the Deadlights are how we perceive that eldritch in our universe?||
It novel ||yeah it uses the deadlights to stun and basically destroy its prey's mind. If you remember Bowers friend dint see fear and the avatar form of IT kept gltiching and dint know what to show him for fear flavoring. But it still dragged him off to eat. But when it turned into a spider thats the closest the human mind can comprehend its real form. And the deadlights is a peak behind the mirror to its true form in the macroverse.||
Wtd ep 4 ||I enjoyed the episode tbh, better than last week's and I have a feeling pennywise is using halloran somehow. Like he tainted him or is riding shotgun to find out where the totems are. So the military can destroy them or it can.||
WTD ep4 ||I saw someone mentioning the artifacts being placed in turtleshells. did you notice that? ||
Wtd ep 4 a sprinkle of dark tower ||I definitely saw them burying one of the totems inside 2 turtle shells, this entire configuration is making me sweat. It reminds me of the dark tower. But im not surprised they called upon certain guardians.||
Finished S1 of Smiling Friends
This shows fun
Fills the Aqua Teen shaped hole in my heart
La Grande Maison Tokyo S1 end ||pretty fun story, they did well pacing the story and making mini-milestones. Also somehow got me invested in the characters before we were halfway through, even Gaku's storyline was great to see||
The goat of superhero shows
the wire s1e10 || holy shit man they killed kima, shit is about to hit the fan||
You know ball
I didn't love most recent but s3 otherwise been great
Smiling friends S3 e4 || the bit was squim is annoying but he was too annoying ||
you might wanna put the name of the show on there too
I thought it was clear from context but sure might as well
ive heard the batman animated show i think literally just the batman is supposed to be underrated
you'd be surprised how stupid some people are
this is a fact
The chair company is so good right now

Nah wb is cooked 😭
larry ellison's genes being rancid is par for the course
Unfortunately
Imagine The Batman 2 under Saudi control. Ronaldo in it for no reason
dont you dare
Superman ||bovaria apology coming ||
Halal man
I hope stranger things don't play with our emotions in the last season
if I don't get to see The Batman trilogy completed properly Im going to end it all
is it even supposed to be a trilogy?
one can only assume when calling it the epic crime saga, that it'd be minimum 3 movies
i was wondering why this guy looks so uncanny and then i noticed he doesnt have eyebrows
@sage remnant
Man fuck this nepo baby
And then Musk overtook back again
@modern lichen no politics
Saudi Arabia is literally going to own everything
https://fixupx.com/tarabull/status/1990578199047315458?s=46 not related to the movie itself but what’s going on with these people
Grown adults reacting to a helicopter like it’s giving them Vietnam flashbacks
We're too poor to understand. 😔
TIL Larry fucking Ellisons nepo baby son is the ceo of paramount
Just threw up a little bit
I tried to google her and see if she had some kind of trauma, but didn't find shit. so yeah idk
It’s worse than last year, it’s so uncomfortable
They’re constantly infantilising each other
the nerve of some people, traveling across my interview airspace
dont they know ariana grande getting in front of a camera creates a no fly zone 2 miles in every direction
Somehow the replies were a 100x worse
Allegedly the question in the interview was what had her emotional and they got frustrated at the helicopter cuz the noise was interrupting her response
Still kinda childish but that's a more sensible scenario
Legend of aang spoilers ||aang design for movie next year from crew member||
When will the air
Next year ?
It’s all just promo.. they’re acting like they’re obsessed with each other to promote the movie. Ariana is sick of her
Yeah in October
Ayy dope
bro just realized michael b jordan was in the wire lol
watching hunger games for the first time
hunger games 1 ||i didnt know josh hutcherson was in this movie as the district 12 guy||
Lmaooo
hunger games 1 ||HOLYYY katniss + peeta over katniss + gale||
he was also in space jam
what the hell is going on in the wicked set
did they learn nothing from judy garland
It’s all Ariana btw. She’s a Babylonian demon
bruhh
Tom Holland called the head of Sony to arrange a 70mm screening of ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ for the cast of ‘The Odyssey’ during production:
“We were at Sony, and Tom Rothman has one of the pristine 70-mil prints of that movie. And Tom Holland, because he’s Spider-Man and he’s everybody’s favourite at that studio, called Rothman and he arranged for us to screen it on a Sunday, the full four hours.”
(Via @empiremagazine)
EVERYONE loves Tom Holland
lawrence of arabia ?
Is the ep 4 for pluribus out yet
No other choice ?
yep
Lanterns delay hurts but
Supergirl into lanterns into clay face within 4-5 months? Is nice
why the delay?
Like, officially?
I thought that was a Spidey & Friends distinction
Afaik its only a part of that Spidey and Friends show
YEEEAAAHHH
Is it only in theatwrs or
One battle after another ||PTA is literally just a genius. Idk how he does it. But he can just make shit work in the best way possible and subvert every part of a movie flawlessly. wtf was this movie lol? And why was it so strangely perfect ||
Alright fuck you guys I’ll go see it this weekend
The Wire s1 ending || wow bro season 1 ending is very anti-climactic. Damn bruh. I guess it is pretty realistic but damn all that work for 4 years in prison for Avon, stringer still out carrying on business as usual ||
rewatching peacemaker s1 and i forgot how hard the theme song goes
One battle after another ||lockjaw is one of the best villains in recent movies. He's so dangerous, pathetic and clearly overcompensating. Sean penn and pta did a great job with this character and every bit of his portrayal.||
literally picked it up on a whim
Task, I love L.A, and house of the dragon got renewed too
Plus dunk and egg season 2
Even though season 1 ain't out
😭
i'ma be honest
i want to give Task a chance, but i can't take mark ruffalo seriously...
I gotta give it a chance
the Hulk ruined him as an actor for me
😭 i literally can't unsee it
I’m watching mlp
whats that
|| my little pony ||
😭
Don’t ask why I’m watching mlp
nah you do you big bro
Not gonna clown anyone for watching that
It has about 300 episodes
I watched 15 seasons of supernatural
I can't judge a fandom like that
Atleast tv wise
Supernatural has 327
Christ
I don't regret it
question
is supernatural like buffy the vampire slayer
i miss the cheesy fantasy shows
I include movies
Id say so
Its also just great
Has plenty of dark and serious moments
But also cheesy ones
Hmm I'll add it to the list
Also I'm good to talk to about the lore
Lol is it a lot
I just binged like 5 season of Justice League
Not too crazy, but its fun to discuss
They reveal more and more
As seasons go by
I think you'll really love sam and Dean by the end
It got leaked in HD with subs
I think he’s gonna win best supporting actor tbh
Very interesting character for sure
I have to agree tbh, it was just that much of a stand out
He is also very funny
Soooooooo peak
Bojack horseman HUGE spoilers || man I can never get over Sarah Lynn’s death. Every time I hear that VA in a show I get PTSD
||
First xmen movie was alright
Never seen the earliest entries in this franchise, mostly the second wave of em and wolverine stuff
It did a real good job grounding and establishing this universe but the actual story of it was nothing and the action is so dated lol. Feels like a pilot episode, tho I have no idea if they had a sequel locked in from the get go
||also can this franchise please abandon the love triangle with Jean, Scott and Logan? Its the most boring thing in every iteration of it
No idea if it's common in the new adaptions but going through these older titles it's insufferable||
Fox Live Action X Men ||I hate and love those movies. Sometimes you get a high of First Class, Days of Future Past. Next you get the utter trash of Origins, X3. It is gross that Scott was treated like shit through nearly all of em||
X men is the most perfect franchise cuz || it goes x men, x2, first class, days of future past and Logan ||

True
I started with x3 I have no idea how my friends dragged me to the others after that initiation
Days of future past|| removes the last stand, origins wolverine and Japan wolverine ||
Holy shit did your friends like you
No
I think I saw that one with my dad
Continued instances of my dad picking bad movies and warping my perception of film at a young age
I saw wolverine, first class and days with friends
I wish I coulda went to more movies as a kid, my dad had a massive issue with people chewing popcorn
Logan on cable is interesting
They are uh
Apocalypse I remember being okayish
Dark Phoenix was bad
Reading through the golden age xmen comics seems like it'd take forever I'm trying to avoid going down that path lol
I watched a documentary about em for context on their publication
Maybe when I'm like 45 and bored on a two week vacation I'll take the plunge
Good
Apocalyse has some good moments, and in overall ain't that bad
dark phoenix is utter trash
Except the ending scene. Which rocks
Surely I've seen worse mcu movies
I kinda doubt it
Can I set movies on Disney+ to 1.5 times speed that might be the way to do it for X3 and Dark Phoenix
I don't see that as sacrilegious for slop it's just valuing my time
Yehh
If you wanna
I watched it at regular speed. It was. So bad
I wouldnt blame anyone for speeding
dude I dont get you 😭
Talking about not having time for #other-series and then intentionally watching slop
Can watch things in English and still take my eyes off the screen for core workouts and arm bands
Taking eyes off for visual medium very nicr
Music?
I do that sometimes but my health issues have me doing this almost every day it gets old
Oh understandable
Audio books
Guys it's not like I'm ignoring the screen for half the flick it's just taking my eyes off for a few seconds at a time regularly during reps
I'm still seeing most of every scene
Problem is with anime it's hard to catch all the subtitles doing that
Having to pause or rewind to catch all the dialogue is obnoxious enough I just don't bother
Long ass YouTube videos
Thats a form of torture
Audio books are perfect for these tho bon
You could try the low effort ones like Dungeon Crawler Carl
I saw episode 1 of supernatural
S01E01
@foggy mirage || lol why does everyone in this show blow up ||
Supernatural s1ep1 ||thats just ghosts dont worry about it they tend to do that lmao.||
😭
rewatch the original pokemon anime
"Anyone want a jelly donut?"
this is what I did, I stopped when uhhh whats his name left the show
kripke or whatever
Eric Kripke
The boys' producer as well
Supernaturals was initially planned to be 5 seasons
ya
supernatural s5 finale? ||it was supposed to end with sam being in hell or some shit||
I dont remember
I'm also tipsy
It had some good moments after 5 but I didnt like anything past 9
I crave urban fantasy monster hunters
And Supernatural was something like that for a while
Don't tell him that shit
Definitely keep going past 5 if you have interest
Damn you left before s11
😭
New showrunner kicked in
Only seasons I ever see people have issues with is like 9
To call Jon M. Chu a journeyman implies that, while he has no unique authorial voice, he's still an efficient director. But that is too kind. Most of FOR GOOD’s musical numbers are shot in still frames and simple back and forth cuts. As if he literally had no plan, no blocking.
idk what the fuck happened in that production but its crazy
Literally everytime something comes up
They trying to replicate the energy of OG Oz ?
idk it just seems like a shambles
Atleast its over
Need to rewatch obaa
Said fuck it and watched X2 as well
Just felt like it lol
Movie has its problems but I miss superhero movies like this
Hope modern DCU can capture some of that energy again with certain projects. That very specific blend of ridiculous and comic booky but still grounded enough it feels relatable to our own world instead of abstract marvel wonderland
X2 and Spider-Man 2 and (from my memories) Iron Man 1 nail that vibe.
1 episode left of my peacemaker s1 rewatch, this show is so fking hillarious
im rdy for s2
the first 2 xmen movies were p good
I like X2, First Class, Days of Future Past and Logan
X1 is aight
Who gives a fuck about the rest lol
I'll watch X3 and Origins anyway and lament it cuz they're due for a watch
All the best
X3 I wanna see with context so I can properly spite it
Origins I wanna see mostly cuz I've never seen any of the Deadpool movies either and stupid or not that's kinda where they first came from
Also the videogame of it is neat
Lol bro did you just binge 3 X-Men movie today
Binged two
One Battle After Another/Wicked: For Good
||https://fxtwitter.com/JakeWallinger/status/1991870082654544216||
Sending memes to give Harsh a stroke
Origins Wolverine is so hillariously bad
But it has some like nice scenes that had stuck with me
I remember these movies more fondly cuz this was my Spiderman trilogy or MCU
I used to do marathon of the movies every week

X3 has one good scene in it
Man idek wanna think about wicked 2
That I cant post because rule break i think
I’ll watch it on my next flight on a 5 inch screen like god intended
I'll probably see it in theaters next week
I think the second half of the play kinda sucks and I'm curious what the hell the movie made exclusively of the second half is gonna do to make it feel substantial
Predator
But also it's got two of my favorite songs so I'll come out enjoying it enough
Why isn't it called Predator Goodlands then smh
You got bleach as your pfp and are the biggest Naruto shill, goro. I don’t think you can complain about quality
????
Immediately resorting to ad hominem I see
I legit haven't seen any discourse about new Predator so I thought it sucked and hence why
My understanding is predator fans like it and casual viewers didn't care about it
Solid franchise movie but doesn't rise above it
But maybe that's being harsh on it from my personal exposure
What logic is this
The new predator was great
It also made the most money out of all movies ever released for the franchise
You being harsh on it
The logic that stuff that people enjoyed would be discussed wide and far
Outside OG I think its the best one
Im the only predator fan ive seen in here
idk OBAA and Sinners had tons of reach in social media
Outside bon now
I haven't seen any picture or discussion or any comment on it anywhere lol
Rip
But it was great
Made loads of money
Very likely sequel on the way
That's all I cared about was worried but dan has gone 3/3 so far
Now its up to romulus 2 to lock in
Graphic design is my passion ass poster
what is that font brother
Bon is accurate
They appealed to their audience
Reminds me a little of those dime novel covers I used to see at my grandparents house
Grocery store romance books
It was.
Spice girls?
you know it
Invincible s3 is saved!
Bon out here giving life to movies I was sure I dreamt seeing on a tv commercial once in the 90s
my sister bought the ps1 game when we were young
it wasnt very good
whyd they make Mel B look like that
playing this crap embedded spice world into my core memories tho
dude baby spice looks like a saber marionette character in this
After my rewatch, peacemaker s1 is still in my top 5 LA superhero show
other 4: daredevil, the boys, agents of shield, doom patrol
Penguin barely makes it but i like the other 5 a bit more
Games like this reminds me of when I was over my cousins house playing Sabrina the teenage witch: a twitch in time ps1 game but we didn’t have a memory card so we could t save and just had to play it all the way through in one sitting
Ain't no way
You're telling me all of these before early season green arrow
Or flash
yes. tho arrow s1,2,5 might be in my top 10
i only watched flash s1-2 and it was p good but wont make it to my top 10
flash felt like it was getting repetitive at s2 already
Very easily
Both of those are ass
arrow is a guilty pleasure watch for me lol
s2 and s5 are peak superhero tv seasons
mostly for the villians
Cant imagine the likes of arrow or flash over say watchmen
don't think about how they ended
think of how they started
watchmen was great, been a long time sicne i watched it
might be a fresh rewatch
ive loved every lindelof series ive watched(lost, leftovers, watchmen)
lost and leftovers are top 15 western series for me
Nice
lol i feel like that movie was made for a specific demographic
For people who like musicals? Am I missing something with Wicked for Good
not just musicals
idk i havent even seen the movie but it feels like everyone has a weird vendetta against it in this server lmao
again I havent seen it but it like afaik it was generally well recieved besides the lighting being a little offish?
What do you mean?
This server typically hates pop musicals
Its a trend
I've mostly seen positive responses to the film elsewhere
Strange
Makes me wonder how anyone here liked Film Red lol
That movie is an Ado music video more than it is a story
I hated doing musicals in high schools, but Ive learned to enjoy more of them the longer I am away from acting
Wickeds hardly my favorite but it's a good time and I appreciate there being a solid version of it I can watch without spending like 80 bucks for an off Broadway tour of it
Exactly
I plan to read the original novel and son of a witch at some point next year
Along with Baum's original stories
That said Ariana grande looks sickly and she scares me
Yeah she's changed a lot in the past like what 5 years
Hope she gets help
I think people just think ado's music is better lol
I fucking loved Wicked.
I dont like musical songs these days. Ado's music in film red was like.. actual songs. From what I've heard from wicked, they've all got that musical cadence
facts we dont like musical music
Yeah Bon might be right, not often I see the songs from Wicked being dismissed lol
Everyone has their taste tho
wickeds music is fun
One day the world will also agree with me that Frozen 2 has one of Disney's best soundtracks
They're just not ready
into the unknown grinds my gears
its one of those things i can acknowledge its a decent song
but it just irriates me and I cant say why
Idina Menzel kinda blew out her voice and has to shout a lot for those higher pitches
i couldnt even tell you the otehr frozen 2 songs ||besides the kristoff one||
isnt the guy in frozen 2 also prince whatever from hamilton
No idea I've never seen Hamilton
wtf
My favorite recent Disney soundtrack is probably Encanto, even if the movie itself suffers from the modern Disney animation with no villain syndrome
NEVER?
Yeah it's silly
I mean its good im just shocked never
No reason I havent
I just haven't yet
Both when my family went to see it live and when they watched the Disney+ recording I wasn't around
Kept getting cucked out of it
have you heard the music at all or
A bit
lin manuel miranda is certainly a theater kid but hamilton is a pretty deceny musica
But yeah my favorite songs in Frozen 2 are Show Yourself and Lost in the Woods
aladdin is my favorite disney movie and also prob top 5 favorite disney musicals?
Aladdin rules
it does
I think it's the only Renaissance movie that actually like
Benefited from all the franchising it got afterwards? Lol
i forgot what classifies as disney renaissance
Aladdin 3 is pretty good, the TV show was fun, got two great games and one is among the most iconic on its system, Broadway play is good
One of their best properties so it's really stuck with me beyond the first movie
Little Mermaid to Tarzan/Mulan more or less
The end point varies by who you ask
you dont like mulan?????
oh its like their last near 2d movies
Yeah like
I don't think a lot of people include Emperors New Groove, Treasure Planet, or Atlantis in the lineup
also how could you not like hunchback???????
Even though they're good
That was when their business started shifting
Renaissance marks the period of annual Disney musicals in the 90s and the height of their animation studios popularity
Damn what's with the accusations I like hunchback too lol
I think Pocahontas sucks ass
And never saw either Rescuers
because of this lol
You misread that
Favorite Disney movie post Renaissance is just treasure planet
I'm saying that Aladdin's the one that got good multimedia tie ins so it stayed cool and relevant to me as a kid for years
Where Tarzan is cool but also singular
right about what?
ya i get you now i imagined an I in there
i dont think ie ver watched the straight to dvd movies even as sakid
I havent watched frozen 2 because I dont like frozen 1
you could just kinda tell something was off
I'd see em on Toon Disney
Mixed bag
Cinderella ones kinda gas
For some reason
Cinderella 3 is weirdly high quality
I have no idea how that happened
The Beauty and the Beast ones are abysmal
Idk no expectations and let them do whatever they wanted
Prince charming
In the sequels is legit top tier himbo
||https://youtu.be/CwQrEUZDJCk?feature=shared|| Cinderella 3
AND THEN THE PRINCE JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW, THE WINDOW!
Prince Charming is the best. Every other prince can go home.
Do not own Cinderella, this scene, or Disney. Enjoy!
Is zootopia 2 gonna be an actual movie or another Disney+ limited series they stitched together for theaters
hope not
And it should have been a show
I agree with this
Moana 2 I was soft on but that's just cuz it's inoffensive cheap shit for kids and you can tell it was produced as a cartoon
Kinda judged it as a direct to DVD Tinkerbell movie
tangled also idk what the consensus is
Not letting Disney get away with that twice tho
I like early cgi Disney
I literally have Moana and Encanto in their top ten or something
And Im big on the first Ralph movie
Not a fan of Moana ngl
damn hunchback listening to this song rn cause we talked about disney movies this song is so incredibly fire ||https://youtu.be/jdIP2xmDqx0?list=RDjdIP2xmDqx0||
The lonely bell-ringer Quasimodo (Tom Hulce) longs to leave the bell-tower and live for just one day during the 'Festival of Fools'.
'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'; A film by Gary Trousdale & Kirk Wise.
Starring: Tom Hulce, Demi Moore, Kevin Kline, Tony Jay, Jason Alexander, Charles Kimbrough & Mary Wickes.
But they got TERRIBLE so quickly
holy true
Literally hoping hopper is the we're back
Because good god
Its been going wrong
Hunchback ||my issue with that film is the tonal dissonance of the main plot with the usual Disney comedy skits
Not just the gargoyles but also like, how the gypsies actually ARE this comical over the top band of thieves when they meet em so they can do a fun musical number. Which reinforced Frollos propaganda
It feels torn between being two movies and thankfully 2/3rds of it is a really fucking good one||
Odd film but a masterpiece for it
This is from an experimental time so I get the take
Never found a soul that likes Pocahontas
i never watched it as a kid because girls are cringe and guys are awesome
i wish they would stop using 4k film cameras to do comedies 😭 it just ruins some of my favorites
Its got one of the best musical numbers of all time and then the rest of it is embarrassingly tone deaf
i liked pocahontas
but it was probably just a childish crush
i forgot the plot
You saw a baddie and the plot melted away
true
Yeah the music is great for me
but it was stiff competition, i mean she was against some all stars in Jane, and Nani
Nani >>>
I love Chris Sanders
I went on a disney cruise when i was like 14 and this dude i met on the cruise went to every single tiara meet and greet
which lowkey valid
He works for major studios on kids films but you buy his art collections and its ALL pinups of sexy thick girls
How does he do it
thats her name right the princess and the frog girl right
Yeah thats valid fuck it
she actually left him a card in his room thanking him for showing up 😭
so game is game
Thinking about my favorite Disney movies now
I think they're still sleeping beauty and fantasia
Boomer at heart
nothing can surpass Finding Nemo
Oh I'm just talking their core animation studio not Pixar
it is the pinnacle of cinema
I think my favorite Pixar is Toy Story 2 tho
ah then i gotta go with lion king and lilo and stitch
@foggy mirage i am so behind on Pluribus, should i just binge it after exams. Am i missing peak
Used to have a lot of arguments with my friend who hated ALL their princess movies and exclusively liked their buddy comedy films like Emperors New Groove, Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia
I think he's chilled out since but it was always funny
Oh they're all good I just found it funny he hated all the fairy tales
Crazy when its not even the best in its own trilogy…
Nah I think 2 goes to more interesting places than 1 and 3 is kinda self aggrandizing to me in a way that I liked as a kid but I question more as I get older
TS3 ||also the Spanish Buzz stuff is annoying||
I like 3 but its been a little while since I’ve seen it
Yhat and the incredibles
Goat status
I saw it again in college and didn't like it the way I did in theaters
Incredibles is so gooooooooood

How it feels debating early Disney
Bro screaming at me
I think in general wicked the musical is pretty okay but it’s agreed upon that the second half is kinda the worst part about it. So splitting one musical into two movies is kinda meh. It’s a popular trend I think, most notably the hobbit turning into three films. Kinda annoys people.
Like a musical has acts and they are a part of a whole, you can’t really make each act into a standalone film
Not really built for it
Hobbit turning into 3 movies is still one of the funniest fuckups in movie history
Hobbit is a clear example of how LOTR was the perfect storm, made right before CGI could ruin shit up
Max 2 movies
And stop with the padding
But sadly they wanted that trilogy bad
Hobbit would've been so much better if the studio wasn't stupid
LOTR is a masterpiece because they gave PJ and his crew multiple years to pre-plan and film
Hobbit turned into a rushed mess because of gross incompetence from the studio heads who wanted everything done ASAP and extended it from the planned 2 movies to become a trilogy
Among other things like GDT quitting forcing them to call Jackson to try his best to save them
It was 4 studios influencing the decision making lol
Recommend watching Lindsay Ellis’ series on The Hobbit
It won a Hugo award for a reason
Those are her best videos
The hobbit had potential to he a peak duology
With 2 extended editions
instead they wanted 3
Greed
The work on certain characters was impressive
But they added stuff that wasn't in the original books and stretched shit out badly
It just dint adapt stuff properly
forever salty they ousted GDT
I do think he would have made better movies
And they would have had a great feel to them
i mean, with 2 movies, yeah and he would've used a lot more practical effects
It was a bone headed move to get him out
I do think the hobbit ||smaug would end up being cgi though.||
i mean, yeah, but a whole load of really cool shit would've come out of del toro's tactile need for practical effectsd
Very likely the stuff involving the hobbit ||the Forrest, lake town and anything warg/orc related would have looked better for sure.||
the hobbit ||smaug is too big to do practically unless they wanna pull a jurassic park and do animatronics for closeup shots and then for wide shots they do full CGI renders||
The hobbit ||i feel wb would have bitched at him for that and told him to go full cgi.||
Not saying it cant be done
the hobbit ||i agree that it would've been full CG throughout but considering that he also did pacific rim i think GDT has a better eye for monsters especially in the usage of CGI now than jackson did on the hobbit||
The hobbit ||i wish we got to see how gdt would have done smaug I feel he'd end up looking scarier somehow. I think Benedict was the perfect casting for it tbh. And the size was adequate for the menace he inspired.||
the hobbit 2 ||my favorite scenes were of smaug and bilbo interacting before that whole shambles of a big CGI battle with the dwarves bumbling around||
The hobbit 1970s animated ||I always enjoyed how he looked in this, and his literal eye beams.||
The hobbit 2 ||I have to agree they perfectly adapted the biltong and smaug stuff. And how they bounced off eachother. You can really feel the size and presence. The cgi fest was a mixed bag fight wise.||
Not as well as the lotr one I feel
Lotr one held up better for me than the hobbit
the hobbit 2 ||there's palpable chemistry between freeman and cumberbatch as well, so the scene just flows so much better||
The hobbit 2 ||i feel its likely because they worked so long together on Sherlock. But they are both brilliant actors. So its just a joy to see them working together so well on such an important scene.||
@near echo the hobbit 1977 ||the mirkwood spiders are so weird looking in the animated version.||
Tbbt ||I don’t like that Nice Guy thing they write him as. It always seems like he tries do dunk on the rest of his friends with “sarcastic, witty quips” as if he’s any less weird or nerdy. At least the others are unapologetically themselves, Leonard cucks out any time he’s slightly challenged about who he is. Just constantly throwing his friends under the bus to try to prove to other people that “I’m not like them, I’m normal”. And all of that is rewarded because he gets with Penny, and that’s treated like the ultimate achievement. || @modern lichen
Inland Empire is the coolest film Lynch made, on a structural level. Just got done rewatching it and I have nothing but good things to say
@raw gate you have read Stormlight right?
Upto Rhythm or Oathbringer?
Rhythm
Good
Stormlight || The other world of the manga you like that I am currently reading, it would have made more sense for it to be Shadesmar like in how the mechanics of it worked ||
Just remember what I was trying to compare it to
Honestly never thought to compare the two but this is pretty apt. Although, I think the manga is fine as is
Was not expecting an earnest big bang theory post today
the wire season 3 ep 5 || nah this shit floored me, mf taking meeting minutes 😭 ||
TBBT ||yeah, I agree, the “nice guy” shtick really sucks because he doesn’t even give pushback on the most offensive things his friends say and do and he constantly undermined Penny and even participated in his friends’ unsavory activities and conversations||

sopranos end || is Melfi unethical for quitting on tony? There were lots of good reasons to quit on tony along the way but her calculus seemed to be that it was still her responsibility to help even an evil person as a doctor. But a little bit of peer pressure from her psycharitst friends is the difference maker? Or are we supposed to believe in the study that gets quoted and shes realized shes not actually doing good? But at the same time, if a doctor fixes a mobster's hand or lungs, that also would enable them to return to crime more effectively. Is the same not true of tony's psyche? ||
Sopranos end ||tony was using therapy to become a better criminal. Through years, sure he had less panic attacks. But he was using it to hit on melfi, hook up and justify his actions. A person like tony was never going to get better Through therapy just keep using it as a tool for an angle. Tony is someone who at one point was capable of change. But he blames his upbringing, his genes and fate. When he's someone that doesn't believe in god, the government or anyone that isnt himself or some paragon of masculinity like Gary Cooper. He's just someone thay by s6 stops trying to change and gives in to his worst aspects. And melfi could see that her co dependcy on him was unhealthy and cut it off.||
sopranos end || but isnt decreasing his panick attacks getting better through therapy? Shes not an ethics coach, him never becoming a better person doesnt mean he couldnt benefit from therapy. How is it any different from a doctor fixing an assassin's hand? ||
Sopranos end || it was a fuck up on her end, by the time she helped with the panic attacks she should have referred him away and that should be the end of it. He originally got what he wanted out of it by s2 realistically. Everything past that was melfi feeling some sort of responsibility for tony. You can argue he might make marginal improvements but she just dint want to put up with him anymore after it became clear any real changes would roll back to default for tony.||
the wire season 3 ep 7 || i am loving the experiment major bunny is conducting, Hamsterdam is lit||
Man
I was writing my thoughts on this book
And I feel like the most important thing more than anything is structure. I have all these thoughts but I don’t know how to make them flow into one another or make it come natural
So it comes out more as garble of thoughts then anything meaningful
is there a good way to go about this?
Like I want to talk about a specific character but it feels so weird to go just straight to that

Wtd ep 5 ||finally pennywise makes his appearance, and it was great. If anyone is confused about the box its from Dr sleep both the book and the movie. Its where holleran stores ghosts that haunt him, including his grandpa. Which is why he was suprised he was out and free. It seems pennywise is using halloran as a free source of mayhem spawning ghosts to terrorize derry. Big brain plays as usual. Great episode all around and lily is a moron. I knew the moment Matty had zero reaction to the drugs it was a disguise. But forcing a "box" open for a shining user is insane power. But expected from an entity like pennywise. Also hank is 100% hiding at the black spot. Also kids dumb af "matty" says pennywise sleeps during the day and eats at night dumbasses.||

its a good movie
it was just okay
Sorry to bother you is a great movie
sorry to bother you ||i resonated with the sentiment around call centres because ive worked at a few and it feels like trash but honestly man almost everything after that opening 20ish minutes lost me.
it's just like... why choose a call centre? i was disappointed because the opening of the movie seemed to resonate so well with what I know call centres to be like. I related to much to it, I was heavily rewarded because I was good at it, I was told I have a 'great young white australian voice' and then we go down this demonic call centre pipline with millionaire salaries overnight and call centres are the devil that sell slave labour to other cartoonishly evil companies ????????? It didnt feel appropriate to use call centres as the basis of showing labour injustice slavery&hierarchy in businesses. It's all just waaaay too absurd and got lost on me, i cant even tell if its supposed to be satire because i didnt find it funny. If it is some fucked absurdist satire, then what it's trying to do is ignore any criticism of call centres specifically and instead be like "this is where people are turned into commodities" or whatever. but like why? cause all that does for me is abandon the grounded, recognisable, relatable exploitation when call centres already make that point in a painfully literal way, why not actually critique them instead of using them as a doorway to something absurdist and less precise?
There's a lot else I want to say but i cant find the words. I thought the romance plot with Detroit was pretty lame and just felt to me like generic 'political activist matches with detached personality', and also: I dont wanna sound ignorant but the ending just feels like a forced push on 'yes unions work and if we riot about things change will happen' which feels preachy whether you believe it or not||

sorry to bother you
||It didnt feel appropriate to use call centres as the basis of showing labour injustice slavery&hierarchy in businesses||
||you're taking a too literal interpretation of the story because you wanted it to be more about call centers as they exist right now? I don't get why you feel like it's inappropriate to use them as an exaggerated form of the system we live in. In general, the story is just trying to make a commentary of framing, that we're able to tolerate ridiculous and disturbing things because of the entrenchment of everything, like how we're currently able to tolerate the suffering inflicted upon the countries who don't profit from the labor hierarchy because it's just "how the world is", but get morally outraged and motivated by something that violates the ten commandments like a mentally ill homeless person attacking someone on a bus; both the mentally ill person and the Angolan miner's actualized existences serve to to threaten the status quo of how we all live in the first world. ||
||the movie is absurd and satirical but I didn't laugh either, and I don't think it was really going out of its way to make me laugh, it was just trying to make an analogy to our current reality and how ridiculous it is. and yes, of course it's preachy, it's a rhetorical polemic against capitalism. so why did i like it? because it's a novel way to explore the above concepts and one that actually has some semblance of coherency compared to the very many films that try to critique the system, like triangle of sadness or mickey17 and so on. in your letterbox oneliner you mention it's like joker but communist and i can kind of understand what you mean but by being a materially relevant version of joker you've basically solved the gigantic issue of joker, that it has no bearing on anything and the main character's motivations and the movement he inspires are contrived and stupid and would never happen in real life||
That's why I left that message for last with the initial ping.
Wtd ep 5 ||he's gonna run around seeing ghosts after pennywise ripped it open. I don't know how bad its gonna get.||
Im just happy we proved wtd ep 5 ||the drugs and having a fucked up amygdala don't make you immune to pennywise.||
Sorry to bother you ||I like what you said about entrenchment. In my original message I mentioned that I really enjoyed the dialogue towards the end of the film at the cafe when Cassius is reuniting with his union friends and they say stuff like "yeah everyone just learns to deal with problems they don't think they can change", but I cut all that for word limit. Maybe it would have been good to keep because my point is really just that in the absurdity it lost any care and impact of the material relevance to me. I think I can engage with absurd things, but in absurd contexts. Like One Piece funnily enough, which people will try and twist into a political think piece but it can avoid that because of how absurd it is. With STBY, the absurdity means I just ended up hearing the messaging as a seperate truth I already agree with instead of feeling like an earned payoff to the story.
I'm sure a lot of people agree that they would just rather watch a movie that has very little material relevance but is still entertaining because I can suspend my disbelief a bit like with Joker, and reason that it's just a superhero origin story that fails at being preachy (which imo doesn't ruin the messaging too much). Whereas STBY is a movie that might succeed at being preachy but doesn't do much else to keep me engaged. I thought the one liner was funny because it was just connecting the dots on what STBY is trying to be and what Joker is, and ends up critiquing both movies.
STBY didn't feel good to watch so I just felt like a better way of showing it would have been continuing what they got so right in the first like 25 minutes establishing with the realist call centre and power callers instead of going 1-100 real quick. It's not a bad thing inherently that it's absurd but I think it works against the movie a bit, it's unique, but kind of... Boring. It didn't keep me engaged here||
WTD Ep 5 ||

||
Have fun
Wtd ep 5 ||you could excuse it as not getting sunlight for a while. But its like he was color saturated compared to the world. And the fact he doesn't react at all like he's drugged after they all took the pills. He's the one that is absolutely fine. By the time bodies show up and they are turbo lost.||
Wtd ep 5 || seated for peak.||
WTD Ep 5 ||I just want more Pennywise at this point, I've waited so long like a good little adult.||
Fight club book|| a little bleak for my taste lol||
There are some lines that are really good though
WTD Ep 5 - || i honestly thought this was Pennywise funniest episode, like legit straight comedy all episode. 1. Him setting up Wills dad by first bringing out his wife knowing he would then get his kids so he let most of em go 2. The affair between his daughter and Ronnies dad is hilarious to me 😭 he literally sold his daughter for the theater trap if you think about it. 3. the face he made when he knew he couldn't get to Lilly. 4. The way Pennywise daughter kissed him made me laugh too lol i was like something not right with this girl fr 😭 ||
Wtd ep 5 ||considering they pulled the lid off, he's likely yo be in every episode now.||
Fight club book ||yeah id say the book is bleaker than the movie. He's a full on bastard. You see the club do more to go towards the goal.||
Wtd ep 5 ||I have a feeling he's gonna hide at the black spot, and start a riot. Which is gonna lead to the fire and pennywise feeding off that.||
WTD Ep5 ||I'm hoping so; I hope Bill signed on 'cause he knew he would get more than just this appearance.||
oh most def he will
WTD - || he signed on for 3 seasons, where he might do more seasons as himself being bob gray when they move further back in time||
IT 2 deleted scenes ||I want them to show that supposedly really fucked up scene that was either deleted or never filmed for the second film.||

Words of radiance late ||was this when kaladin challenged Amaram and he got out to jail?||
Ok yeah I did remember
Words of radiance late ||the way he balanced shallan and kaladin chapters I found jarring. It wasn’t structured in a way where I wanted to keep reading. I finally started to want to keep reading when shallan and kaladin get stuck in the chasms. It’s been good since then. An yeah adolin is cool. Moash is not. Shallan is mvp I don’t know how you could ever hate her||

Be like Buffy and read Kristoff

Disappointed with some of Rin's decisions?
You should read the Empire of the Vampire trilogy, it's definitely now one of my favorite stories, but I'm also a sucker for the dark and macabre.
the burning god || there are just no consequences for her bad decisions. She never learns, she just keeps making bad decisions, and getting saved by luck ||
Fair
more the burning god || and then she also reflects on her random luck as if it was some great strategic triumph ||
Too quick on buying movie rights nowadays
its probly like venture capital people
you buy the rights early, theyre cheap, and sure 9/10 will fail but the 10th will make you tons of money
These are biggest books of like 2023 and this year
some of the biggesr*
well ig even then the rights are Prolly cheap now
Eragon and dark tower level adaptation incoming
I guess im not in the know this is the first ive heard of them
they are not like Kuang level big
maybe things like this just need more time for word of mouth to grow and reach me
But Kuang appealed to litfic community as well as fantasy with her newer works
Which has higher reach that Scifi/fantasy
