yea I get it
Literally doing planks RN watching this Jurassic World film
it's why I like bike or threadmill because you can watch something while you exercise
Did you know he’s still alive
Halfway through the movie
Jurassic World Rebirth ||this is shallow and I don't care about a single character in it but this movie is benefiting a LOT from abandoning all the previous films and just being its own independent story. So much less baggage, can just take it at face value instead of having Spielberg's films dangled in front of me constantly like shiny keys||
If this franchise is gonna keep going and rotting it's better for it to drop the pretention that it's based on a novel cuz we're so far removed from it at this point it's not worth the lip service
Jurassic world rebirth ||can big pharma dude die already I'm sick of his crap||
Jurassic World Rebirth ||at this point the moral of these films is that sauropods are the only ones that are chill and we should protect em at all costs, fuck the rest||
Wait my brother lied to me lmfao
He said he was 92 still teaching
He died in ‘59??
Maybe it wasn’t loomis. Is there other really well known foundational artists?
Hm
Trying to think
James Gurneys way younger, Bridgmans been dead longer
Betty Edwards is 99
Retired tho
I’ll ask him when I get home but we were talking and he mentioned someone and how they were still alive
"Henry Cavill is Superman" this, "David Corenswet is Superman" that
and I have yet to get any new marketing material for Lanterns https://t.co/DFJUv9ukg2
QRT: DiscussingFilm
Zack Snyder has shared a new shot of Henry Cavill as Superman.“Henry Cavill is Superman.” https://t.co/4q1sbQGggQ
Snyder enabling them is just corny tho ngl
Lanterns trailer will drop when it needs to tho
it needs to drop now 😭
Big dog we're waiting for like 3 big trailers
three?
laterns super girl and what else?
clayface?
why drop all at same time, feels perfect to have laterns at the end of halloween
We have no idea what lanterns has in it
I would have said December
But maybe it's likelier January or feb
Gonna be seeing a bunch of folks finally get into lantern stuff
All most people have is seeing him badly written in dc animated movies
And memes
TV MA
So basically yeah same rating as peacemaker
So they can do crazy shit
Kind of needed for lantern stories
Lantern Comics Latest - || ok I don't know what comic this was in but I hope they show Guy Gardner rebuilding half his body off pure memory's ||
DC vampires and lanterns latest ||that happens in an elseworld story where a bunch of heroes turn into vampires.||
It really isn’t lol
Yeah you don’t need the mature rating for lanterns but this specific one is apparently pretty serious in tone and has some heavy stuff
Tell me you dont read lantern shit
Without telling me you dont read lantern shit
They literally cant do black hand properly without tvma
Neither sinestro corps fully
Or any of the more fucked up events
I can't even post how black hand becomes black hand because its beyond fucked
Again most stories deal with mature themes
This is touching on Geoff johns era stuff
Where the subject matter was darker and more adult oriented
Rather have no restrictions limiting what they can do
Also forgot to post
Also anyone interested in sleeping dogs
Snyder is acting cringy
Finished rereading Vineland

The good game of thrones or the bad game of thrones
He was nominated for an emmie
For his episodes in season 5 and 6
And I think the premiere and finale episodes for 7 were him
oh nice
idk why but I'm most excited for this show because it's the first one that isn't James
And I kinda miss True detective NGL 😭
I hv heard they will be using ai in heat 2
Wait michael manns directing it ?
Michael Mann is, he didn’t say he will use it
But yeah, if it’s needed
Which is also a shitty thing to say
Well if hes making it
He’s talking about de-aging tech, which has already been used extensively by people like Scorsese and Tim Burton and David Fincher. At no point in this piece does he utter the term “A.I.”
QRT: Variety
Michael Mann Says He Might Experiment With AI in 'Heat 2:' 'Aging and De-Aging May Be Very Important' https://variety.com/2025/film/global/michael-mann-ai-in-heat-2-aging-de-aging-1236556078/
Variety being a piece of shit “journalistic” platform as usual
How mid is tron movie
bad enough to end leto's mc career
They say this after every leto movie yet he keeps getting lead roles...
I mean it is a form of ai. We’ve had ai in art programs for years now. What people are against is generative ai

he's playing skeletor in the upcoming he-man movie
How does high profile acting even work. I'm skeptical they're just auditioning everyone and picking the best performance of a snippet of the role or whatever I'd think there's lots of other factors beyond that
Like did a bunch of high tier actors just read in front of people and leto was the most compelling tron?
Sometimes with all star actors they'll just send the scripts to their agents and ask if they're willing to take the part
They're scouting them for their name specifically without an audition process
sometimes roles are written for specific actors as well
That's probably how Leto gets shit dude just gets nepo phone calls
he's just a really bad lead lol
Never seen a role that I enjoyed from Leto
@limber urchin 2 weeks to Empire of the Dawn
He produced tron so that's how he got that lead
I think I'm gonna cave and pay to see this garbage movie tomorrow
All my Tronhead friends are saying it's pretty good and they're surprised
They can get hyped for the next one in 15 years
The blessing of the series is being unpopular enough it only gets greenlit when tech has changed enough it's forced to adapt
Im not a fan of any tron movie
I think people love the esthetics more than anything else
I adore the first movie
Thats all its got going for it
Legacy is cool even if the lead white guy who's name I don't remember sucks
I'm an illustrator who's tapped into Internet and gaming culture and listens to a lot of synth
I'm the prime audience for Tron
Im more of an evil dead person esthetic wise
I gotta see army of darkness this week
Finally watched the first film and rewatched II for the first time in like 14 years
It's time
You are long overdue
Then its the show or remake
Nothing else to watch rn regardless
My uh
Brothers brother in law
Had only seen the remake
And I got him to watch Evil Dead II with us
And the tonal dissonance between the two confused the shit out of him
Yeah he was not ready
But the series as a whole is more spiced with black comedy
He adored evil dead ii actually
Yeah its a pseudo remake
Way its explained past the evil dead 2 ||ash smashing into the try flying. Is new content.||
He had to do it because rights issues with 1
But the dumbasses that had 1 dint have sequel rights
So sam pulled a counter
Army of darkness also has one of my favorite posters
I was thinking of Vilppu
1000 issues featuring Superman read
Forgot about this guy that tracks

YYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSS
Goated cover by Neal Adams
i'm this close to watching it. is it genuinely funny? I've seen that main character's skits before in another show and it was hit or miss for me. I couldn't tell if it was absurdist humor or what.
It has its moments but it's such a new type of show for me I still don't know what im watching lol
It’s genuinely depressing to read Steven Soderbergh spent two years developing a Star Wars movie with Adam Driver that was nixed when we’re getting a movie called MANDALORIAN AND GROGU instead.

Blade Runner 2049
I have come to the conclusion that season 3 of psych is the best season
Soderbergh's had such an amazing run recently ngl
What how does he keep getting work
Don't let Leto get his hands near Pacific Rim.
Yahh
Dude has to have so much dirt omfg
How many movie bombs will this dude star in
Or he's producing it
Ohhhhhh that's why
I was wondering why we kept getting awful ass movies with the Rock and Leto
Is that why Kevin Hart gets so many movies
I guess
He has blackmail material
Because I have not met one single person who has enjoyed Kevin Hart in anything ever
Also fuck all that, Weinstein was a big shot producer too
Leto needs to be scrubbed from the industry like Spacey
Yeah but he was fuck ugly
Leto is fuck ugly too tbf
Eh he's just kind weird looking
He's got crazy eyes, but other than that he's pretty good looking
From what I know he was supposedly good in Dallas Buyer's Club
I think I half watched half of it years ago so I couldn't say
He was good in American Psycho, Fight Club, Panic Room
And also Requiem for a Dream
I am not a Matthew McConaughey fan so I didn't really have interest in Dallas Buyers Club
But yeah Leto is absolutely fucking trash now
Wasn't he in American Psycho for like 6 seconds
Another movie I don't remember much of
30 seconds to Mars is such a shit band lol, his music sucks
Idk who likes that shit
(Can you, can you, can you)
Can you imagine a time when the truth ran free?
The birth of a song, the death of a dream
Closer to the edge
Come
Break me down
Bury me, bury me
Why didn't 30 seconds to Mars do the music for Ares it'd have been funny
Coulda made it a Disney musical
Nice nice
In that note harsh, di you have any recs of high fantasy with journalist mc
Other than the discwirls one
You ask for such specific recs man lol
Journalist MC is hard to find in fantasy in general
I’ll try to find something
Also no urban fantasy
Thanks
Asked in other places too and all I get is The Truth which I have read already
@sturdy kayak im rewatching the screams, ive watched the first four so i can rank those cuz i just saw then
1,4,2,3
Ik about a historian in a fantasy setting but journalism hmmm

The Name of the Wind - I've finished it, 7/10 ||It took me a long time to come around to this novel. It happened right when Kvothe was trying to get his pipes
because it finally introduced a real goal for the main character: Denna. They compliment each other quite well. However, until that point, I found the book
to be a meandering slog a good chunk of time. I could completely do without the entire Tarbean arc, I found it boring. Most of the characters feel
like a secondary thought aside from Denna and Kvothe who feels far more fleshed out by comparison. Even Kvothe borders on what might be a self-insert for the writer, or
just a teen power fantasy. The magic was fine, I didn't think too much of it. The drama with Abrose didn't feel like it had much depth or didn't get explored in
a more interesting way. Honestly, the book, as I've stated before, is ultimately a less interesting Harry Potter. It is almost entirely saved by the second
half, but even then it has its own meandering problem with Kvothe and Denna going on their long journey to slay a "dragon." As a final note, I'm pretty sure this
novel is supposed to be viewed as if an over confident teen is writing it, otherwise the way girls are explored/written in this story is questionable at best whenever Kvothe thinks about them - but I'll give Rothfuss the benefit of the doubt and assume it was all intentional since Kvothe is telling the story through his
own biased lens. I probably won't read the second book.||
Damn it took you more than half a year lol
And I finished all five books of Stormlight in 4 months. That should tell you everything you need to know.
Wanna read another magical school then
R/fantasy's best book of 2023
Sequel is coming out in 20 days
Nah, I'm focusing on Frankenstein next.
Nice
also wouldn't you say some criticisms of Name of Wind would apply to Empire of the Vampire too
Maybe. But for reasons I can't explain I like Empire far more than Name of the Wind.
Yeah I get you. While both has like, some idk intended amateurishness(?) in some parts of their writing, both achieve different vibes
Empire can get edgelordy if that's what you mean. That much I highly agree with.
Ye
which is kinda result of || overconfident teen writing it || sorta style. NoTW/EotV
yeah then I can get behind that
I still find Name of the Wind's prose is very beautiful
next is frankenstein and then maaaybe The Accursed King series but I'm not completely sure yet
Name of the Wind had really nice prose, I forgot to put that in the review crap
I am reading some Economics/business/etc books rn so nothing fun
money making arc
had read first book of Elric which felt like what inspired Martin to write || Targaryaens || ASOIAF
ASOIAF ||I'm curious how far back the white haired magical people trope goes||
it's by Michael Moorcock, who wrote like idk some hundred sword and sorcery stories
|| and they have dragons. Plus cousin marriage. Plus them falling while the other young kingdoms getting more advanced. || asoiaf/elric
apparently martin's quoted it being an inspiration but I can't find anything beyond forum posts lol
I need a "GRRM is a hack" emoji now smh

batman caped crusader vol 1 ||Anwar Sadat being brought up genuinely caught me off guard 😭||
Oathbringer completed
Good book
Probably my least favorite so far though
Not to say it’s bad
It’s still a good book bro
ASOIAF enthusiasts I see
What do u rate it
like 4/5
I just got a signed copy of the second book.
Sorry, I mean ASOIAF Wombat. I misread your sentence.
J.R.R./Christopher Tolkien -The Silmarillion and The Tale of Beren & Luthien: ||This is probably one of my favorite romances I’ve ever read not just in fantasy but in general. I’ve been working at finishing the last few books of Tolkien’s legendarium out of the 17-18 or so works. The books from the First Age are so masterfully put together. But I’m not gonna lie, Beren kinda comes off as a huge loser.
||
nah
Probably like 4.5 on twok
idk I dont really try to rate things too hard
at least different series
in series is okay
thats unfortunate you picked the worst asoiaf book to be signed
but still really cool
I like the book......how dare you.
idk i could maybe see it being a 3.5 OB end ||I wasnt crazy about dalinar politic storyline found it pretty boring, and the shadesmar stuff was less interesting then i thought it would be||
OB ||Shadesmas was far more interesting to me when it was a mystery. Probably hyped it up too much for myself lol||
OB || what about dalinars flashback and his resolution towards the end ||
nah I feel the same wayt
elite stuff
some of brandos best
Yessir
Ahhh the .5 star fair enough
Tbh I go back and forth on if I like WOR or TWOK more
If Brandon Sanderson actually cared about his readers (me and only me), I would have the sixth book of the Stormlight Archive in my hand right now due to his speed.
The craziest part of all of it is if he just focused on Stormlight, he would probably be on like book 7
Stormlight Archive full series ||The fact that Book 5 was an end of era helps that big gap. He was able to conclude this cycle and it leave people satisfied with it||
wack
wombat dont you dare be a book 5 lover like goro
@modern lichen did you watch this 10/10 masterpiece yet https://imdb.com/title/tt38677838/
Crazy take to find ob to be worst Stormlight book
Man 's gonna have the redditor ranking of sla
Tf
I’ve only read 3
You gotta keep context
I see the signs
I told you not to read that
but now that you finished you should probably read the second at least to see how bad it is
Listen
Twok gets bonus points becausw its the first one
And wor gets bonus points because it has hype moments and aura
Oathbringer doesnt have hype moments and aura in the way words of radiance do
hype moments and aura of ob are better tho
Lowkey debatable
I can think of like 4 hype moments and aura in OB
I saw the correct signs
When you read the popular series but you don’t read and interpret it the correct way
True
his other Cosmere books are just not it
They are at best as good as my least fav Stormlight book
and at worst 2.5/5
finally getting to the last section of the power broker moses' downfall is as satisfying as the defeat of any fiction villain. I been reading him get away with it for so long. months. theyre finally getting him

Yes cinematic marvel
I read NotW and didn't bother with the second one
@sand cypress did you finish first law?!?
No, but I'm going to start it this week. I finally feel burnt out from video games so time to go back to reading
I need to start the Age of Madness trilogy but that’s for next year
Does Cormac McCarthy know what quotation marks are?
Is he stupid?
I could write this book better
Try soap2day
thanks bro
Also @unkempt agate https://fmhy.net check this out
Go to the streaming section here there will be a bunch of sites you can use
Hi I’m Cormac McCarthy and I wrote the book blood meridian
Fucking idiot
While I think the no quotation marks thing is a bit overly talked about, I do note that I never really had issues with knowing who was talking
Seems like it worked, or at least that style of writing can be done
Also Wombat is dumb
@modern lichen have you watched ep 3 yet?
I already read OP, I can't handle more garbage.
I'm only like 10 pages in or so, but Frankenstein is nice and is a bit easier to read than Dracula (the last classic I read).
You found Dracula harder to read?
alright well i caught up.... i still don't know what the fuck im watching but i like it
yeah. been a while since I remember why, but I'm finding that i'm stumbling less over the prose I think.
@worthy crypt what did you think of the second one
oh i thought i was in western series lol
Might be just different style than difficulty
prose in Frankenstein is very good
you honestly could be right
i am enjoying the prose even if i stumble here and there. sometimes an older, not often used word can trip you up, or even their sentence structure, how they use semi colons, etc.
Ye
i still got like.. the final 10% but dragon republic || I like a lot how its not that simple. It could have been basic story of democratic crusaders overthrowing an evil empress. But vizra is kinda full of shit, rin isnt a perfect mary sue, it trades the war of the first book against cartoonishly evil invaders for a messy civil war. I like that in all things it kinda leans into more complexity and avoids simple caraciatures. ||
Also do you realize who Rin is inspired by irl
no i could definitely see some inspirations from japan/west ww2 but i didnt realize there was a real person for rin
|| Rin is supposed to be a parallel to Mao Zedong || dragon republic
I think once Frankenstein is finished, I'll finally try and get through Dune. I've put it down twice now (not out of boredom, just other thingss).
ah i dont really know enough about the history to look/notice
Fair fair
Dune prose bad so makes sense
Brando fan talking
i was enjoying the narrative, though I have had some major pieces spoiled for me haha
Dune's prose is so dry
I am speaking as a Dune fan
Goda
😭
Update me with your thoughts buffy
Muk and Wombat's haven't been as fun as reading your Stormlight messages lol
i'm the best
X Men cute Storm funko but it'd be 1000 times better as a figure
Yep!
CR C4E3 ||yo that skull getting ripped out at the end was wild as fuck||
CR C4E3 || Matt did some shit like that in some charity game so him being on the receiving end of this shit is awesome, Julien is growing on me ||
We hope you enjoy the trailer, Carol.

Weapons ||Does the witch/do the possessions being an allegory for how alcoholism destroys families make you enjoy the movie more or less?||
:(
Aw mannnnn
Weapons / The Shining ||I do love the absolutely huge nod the movie did with 217||
Weapons || also about the evil hiding in plain sight in very normal American suburban towns ||
....i never thought of that
you're right!
Weapons ||to be honest i didn't really think about it on first watch, i thought it was more about a story of the 7 sins on first watch, especially with the withering ||

will they expand the aspect ratio is the question

||Aura farming final boss|| Thor #148
I’m gonna pretend this guy doesn’t exist anymore
Why can't they all stay sensible and continue to use this shit for things it's historically useful for like post processing filters and automated texture manipulation in CGI
Stop trying to use it as a replacement for the human creative process
It'll always be tacky
All these old heads making me lose respect
The little I had
Shit the non-existent respect
Its time
They are old and want to pump out movies faster
While they have time
Ridley scott was speaking crazy like this too and it was embarrassing to watch.
Got infinitely more respect for artists who downscale their projects once they get old and do more intimate and personal works since they can do whatever they want than guys like them who try cutting every corner to keep doing major productions the way they always have
I understand the feeling of being trapped and wanting to get your work out there while you still can, believe me, but don't destroy your dignity and the meaning behind your art to get it done
I love these douchenozzles being openly supportive of AI because it makes it easier for me to ignore their work
They fell off already
Oh I know
And this just makes it worse in the end
But still
It's just good to know that there are brazen idiots who will just say this stuff
Id rather retire quietly after producing great stuff
Than a non stop career
Insane work for these people
Insane to make works of art then spit in the face of artists
Really shows your character
My favorite argument these morons present of "I have the perfect script" or perfect prompt
Like the only thing that people are mad at is AI being shit
Fuck their perfect idea
Either put in the work properly or dont bother
I don't care if AI was somehow able to make the next mona lisa or the next war and peace, it's shit because it's stolen art and it is soulless
I don't want to engage with art that isn't made by a human being
If it eas a programmer involved
Thats different
But its not that
Schrader being the same guy who wrote Raging Bull and Taxi Driver and the same guy who directed Mishima and First Reformed is like a whiplash, this is not the same guy
Im convinced he was replaced
Like how do you fall off like this
Did you see Grant Morrison is on the ai train
He uses it on his substack. He writes a comic and uses it to prompt the art
Says it’s here to stay

Vs guillermo

Respect guillermo for saying no
i do think its inevitable that it will have an increasing role in many areas as it gets better. But that doesnt mean every application is good. Postprocessing effects is one example where it seems pretty well suited. Replacing human actors probably not a good application for a long time
its not a fad thats gonna fade away and die, itll only get better over time and be used more widely as it gets better
I think the bubble of how it is being stuffed into everything will finally crash, but there are definitely parts that aren't going away
That being said, I won't knowingly engage with things that use generative AI
Already crashing
Good
yeah its probably pretty similar to the dot com bubble
lots of those websites were worthless but that doesnt mean the internet was gonna go away
Was talking to my parents the other day and they’re complaining now about the ugly AI slop they get in their WhatsApp chats and how it’s making them feel disgusted to look at that shit, never felt more proud
But point still stands. If a director, writer, whatever wants to use gen AI, cool, but I don't have any desire to engage with it. It makes me sad that someone like Grant Morrison even thought of using it but that's their deal
I think the usecase in brutalist was interesting too
im not familiar with that, what is it?
They used AI for the accent
That’s not Gen AI
They used a voice manipulation program that’s generally been used a few times for accent work
Crazy that Michael Bay has more integrity than them when it comes to AI 😭
Michael Bay and integrity are not things often linked but I guess you gotta give him the W on this one
Literally who asked

welcome to derry || " The series’ set-up riffs on its source material in ways both big and small, complete with numerous references aimed at the King faithful (including nods to turtles, Shawshank prison, and Calumet Baking Powder) and the participation of The Shining’s Dick Hallorann (Chris Chalk), whose psychic gifts are being used by Shaw to locate a “weapon” buried somewhere in Derry.
Specifically, the U.S. military intends to capture Pennywise and sic him on the Russians and Cubans in order to prevent the forthcoming missile crisis and win the Cold War. To control the monster, which they barely understand, they must acquire the 13 “pillars”—rock shards from the “cage” in which it traveled to Earth millions of years ago—that have the power to contain it à la kryptonite, and whose whereabouts have been protected for centuries by a Native American population that’s acted as humanity’s selfless guardians.
Leroy is the apparent key to this covert scheme, because he’s suffered a brain injury that’s left him unable to feel fear.

Stupid ass show
Oh l true I guess I'm the only one fucking with it, I love the stuff I seen so far and honestly because I have been a stale in media recently and I'm just excited for something newer
also when I say stale in media I just mean Halloween themed shit
I need to watch it later
I thought it was just going to a prequel
That synopsis has me dipping, no thanks
you're not alone. i'm excited. give me more clown.
Eating breakfast and watching breakfast club
This movies antiquated in its depiction of highschool but it's fun
I remember blue shitting on this lol

Watching this to decide if I pick up the vinyl from goodwill for 3 bucks and hide a clover in it like that episode of Futurama
why did you remind me of that episode
Lol it been a while since I watched that movie , wasn't one of them smoking a Marlboro
Breakfast Club end ||docking half a point for giving Ally Sheedy a makeover and ruining her aura||
Breakfast Club end ||dumbass moment to give her a glow up too she doesn’t need that shit||
Definitely a dated film, breaking teen stereotypes and effortlessly juggling a really good highschool comedy with a humanization of all their stereotypes. But so many teen films and shows since have built on this and aren't as transparent about their usage of archetypes now
It's really good at what it does and such an enjoyable ride tho
And I do like all the characters
I think Ferris Bueler is like the perfect Hughes film that doesn’t feel dated
Quite a bit of his films have now aged like milk
Seen that entire movie out of context and out of order
His high school comedies I mean
There’s also Planes Trains and Automobiles which is great
Not a high school movie tho
That one’s really good too
Seen this like 20 times cause it was always on tv growing up
Genuinely loathe it just from how much I’ve seen it and how much boomers/gen x glaze this thing. So many shows and movies reference the thing I’m so over it
Blue was right
It's sincere and funny
And has one really good song
4 stars in my book
I get it tho I'm a hater on finding Nemo cuz it was like the one VHS my school had and I'd see different parts of the movie every single period all day at the end of the year when the teachers didn't have anything else to do
That’s basically it
I can relate to those sentiments but for a movie I don't think many people would relate to
My Cousin Vinny. It's my dad's favorite movie of all time, I think Ive seen it 50 times genuinely from start to finish
I hope to never watch it again
I basically did the same with my parents but I made them loath Jurassic Park because I used to watch it so frequently
Now they don’t even wanna hear the word Jurassic
Go figure
the king meets the apprentice

damn a C 😭
Does anyone here watch tokusatsu or Kamen Rider?
If so then what Kamen Rider should I watch first :0
@near echo feel like you might have an answer
Just choose what catches your eye
Kabuto is good
try Kamen Rider Decade
Power rangers
yes but also no
have you watched Garo connor
i havent
i have only watched a few episodes of a few rider series
They gased it up way too much
Garo is a separate tokusatsu series
is that space sherrif thingy?
nah
cool shit
Garo || https://files.catbox.moe/xkaaa0.mp4
||
Lol ayo wtf hes against a netrunner
Alice in borderland s3 || i thought s3 was pointless in the beggining but it actually kinda expanded the story and now that world blw life and death makes more sense, it was a great season overall||

The first trailer for LAIKA’s next film ‘WILDWOOD’ has been released
︀︀
︀︀In theaters in 2026.
Wait its just the same studio
@bold sparrow
yeah
a magical world outside of Portland 😭
I do, I do!
For more modern: Definitely go with Double (detectives) ; OOOs (desire and greed); Fourze (space); Zero-One (artificial intelligence); Gaim (fruit), Ex-Aid (video games), Geats (desire), Amazons (survival), Drive (crime and justice), etcetera
For more classic: Kuuga (history); Decade (a journey); Ryuki (good and evil); 555 [Faiz] (humanity's struggle); Blade (humanity's morality); Kabuto (identity); Den-O (time manipulation), etcetera
My favorite is Kiva (horror). But! I do like the others that I've listed (and not listed), so...yeah.
Aaaaand yes, definitely watch GARO and its many intertwining series, if you get the chance as well!
best decision for tokusatsu would always be just to read the synopsis and choose one
cuz all are very good
Arcane, season 1, up to episode 5 ||I've been spending the last few weeks watching an episode here or there. I just want to say this may be one of the greatest works of art among tv and film that I've ever seen. I've found nothing to complain about whether it be characters, narrative, art direction, shot composition, etc. I will be buying the artbook as soon as I finish this show.||
Holy shit, Captain Marvelous ✋🙂↕️✋
season 1 or 2?
1
nice
my favorite sentai ranger

@true ether
Man replaced it
@true ether I don’t think your work is done
ive only heard positive things from so many different people but my dislike of league of legends has made me never pick it up
i get this is irrational but its just like something in my gut the type of thing you cant reason away
It really is just that good
I don’t like league either
It's not really related tbh except by characters. A lot fo League lore was actually all over the place initially but then they started structuring it and Canon in Arcane isn't even canon on league. However because arcane did so well they are changing league lore to fit arcane.
yeah it just reminds me of it. The characters being the same. which creates instant negative feelings
🎈
power broker || shocked that i did feel a tiny bit bad for moses at the end. It definitely helps that the ultimate nepo baby, rockefeller's grandson, is the one who gets him in the end. And the author calls back to the early projects really did make public space to the expense of wealthy aristocrats. Maybe it was all a cynical ploy for power all along. And he did plenty of horrible shit when he was in power. But it did sometimes improve things for people. His highway obsession and ignorance of induced demand could make some of his later projects net negative its hard to argue against the fact that many of his projects did provide some public good||
just do it I also hate league
Welcome to Derry latest - || lol yo that pregnancy scene was crazy 🤣 ||
@hoary hatch get on this
are you that weak minded

i guess so
Bahahaha
It starts really well but the ending was masively fumbled imo . But i think its worth watching for the animation alone
The first season is near perfect
The second season has its problems but it offers up a feast in terms of visuals
The second season should have been like atleast two seperate seasons
Probably 3
Arcane s2 || i really disliked how they handled the class struggle in the second season. The whole introduce a bigger enemy shit is so tired atp and unsatisfying. ||

Andy Muschietti slipped a clever Batman Easter egg into the ‘IT: WELCOME TO DERRY’ premiere:
Detective Comics #298, the first appearance of Clayface (Matt Hagen).
A sly tease from Muschietti as he potentially gears up for ‘THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD’. https://t.co/BZQM3NHgVI
QRT: JamesGunn
Happy Anniversary to the perennially misunderstood villain, Clayface. Can’t wait for you to see @TomRhysHarries bring him to life on the big screen!
h lol
Welcome To Derry/IT Latest - || i personally did not like IT Chapter 2, but i enjoyed the first one and i like what has happened so far, but that's just subjective. I thought that was a great Opener ||

THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU trailer really hits different on the big screen in a movie theater (looks even worse)
The first film is fantastic, I've watched it multiple times. The second movie leaves something to be desired, however. I will be watching the first episode of Welcome to Derry today. Pennywise, my beloved.
Tim Curry also my beloved
So is Mandalorian + Grogu a Moana 2 situation where they're just slapping a season of a Disney+ show together and throwing it into theaters
Really???
buffy is known to like bad stuff too...
I just don’t get it I guess. I was hyped for skarsgard and he’s arguably the only redeeming factor but it’s legit a bad series
I agree with this sentiment
Also love the IT book
So I have heavy bias
No that would be star wars extended/shows spoilers/ahsoka ||the movie they are planning to have thrown, ahsoka, Ezra, Sabine and others in.||
I don't think this is that movie
Let me know how you felt, me personally it was perfect
yeah the book is a favorite of mine, so i'm also biased
actually wait lol I did have one critique
Also it's awesome we get the episode 2 early since it's releasing on Halloween
Welcome to Derry - Episode 1 and IT Chapter 1 ||Overall, it was a solid first episode. Nice set ups for what's to come, especially with the military base. Bold ass decision to kill off three of the kids at the end! And the opening was fantastic and so visceral - a nice way to try and recreate the feeling of the sewer scene with Georgie, but still be its own thing. The one thing I genuinely hated were the undercover operatives trying to steal plans to the new plane, that felt like something out of some spy novel fan fiction and it had almost no redeeming value. I'm actually surprised we didn't get clown Pennywise in the first episode, but I assume they're saving him for now.||
Welcome To Derry Ep 1 - || ya i didn't really get that at all, my one critique was the hispanic dude they got buddying up with him use to be a Vine guy and everytime hes on screen it breaks my immersion 😭 so that whole operative shit just felt so out of place. ||
|| Actually i am not surprised, they did an interview recently saying they are going to use this opportunity to explore more of ITs abilities/shapeshifting than his classic pennywise that we see.||
Welcome to Derry Ep 1 ||Oh, lmfao, I'm glad I didn't know who that guy was, that would be very immersion breaking.||
Welcome to Derry Ep 1 ||BTW found a small chain of reddit comments that help make that gas mask scene make more sense - hopefully this is the case and not just wishful thinking.||
Welcome to Derry Ep 1 - || I guess that makes sense. I also know once they move in to Derry, there is probably going to be some explicit themes of early 50/80s racism so maybe this a soft intro ||
oh for sure
ok I have a question about this stupid show
based on the trailer
welcome to derry ||are they gonna do some weird mist shit in derry?||
what do you mean ?
welcome to derry ||like the movie/book the mist||
personally I don't think so...
I saw it in the trailers
welcome to derry ||ngl I thought it was like some weird mash up of all stephen king books because they also have shawshank and the guy from the shining||
There is a lot of homage
Yes that's true
Welcome to Derry - || especially homage to the shining ||
maybe
Ya honestly just watch the show
I'm not a fan of IT
well SHIT
the clown or the story ?
yes
Lol
the mist is my favorite stephen king movie
I can't really give a definitive anything since it's only been one episode
But I will say I like where it's going
Have y'all watched the outsider ?
dang no, I wanted to get to it but never had time
Was it good ?
ya there's a bunch of stuff I gotta check out from the king verse
"get way weird"
Stephen King
name a more iconic duo
It got weird in a way that I didnt enjoy
It is definitely stephen king
But it just went sideways in a way that made me irritated
I loved those last books
So sadly we don't agree on that
Loved the ending
Me reading revival and tommyknockers
😭
If you want to see Stephen King at another weird point (and by weird I mean hyped up on cocaine), watch the movie he directed called Maximum Overdrive.
Maximum gas
Not everybody gets spoken to by everything, it's how it be
happy halloween

Dark Tower Series Overall, big spoilers ||It doesn't help that I am not really a fan of 4th wall, meta stuff for storytelling. Putting himself in the books really just ruined the whole thing for me||
I loved that shit tbh
Always funny seeing people either love that or hate it
I fucking loved it
I think that's what divides a ton of people. Or at least me
I was fine with it tho
It makes me sad because I am a big fan of combining westerns and fantasy
Wolves of the calla dark tower ||you already see father Callahan come back from Salem and he's a book character.||
And it felt like the series coulda been one of my personal faves but here we are
So it wasn't a stretch for me
See I am slightly okay with Dark tower series ||Connected universe stuff. It isn't my favorite but I can at least stand it. I just think putting himself in the books is rather. Idk. It drags me way tf out of it and ruins it for me.||
Its my favorite book series tbh
I can respect it
I understand how it can be really awesome for people
Wizard and Glass was, from what I recall, my favorite of the books lmao
We just got different taste in fantasy books
We just wanted different things out of the series and that's chill
Spent the last wizard and glass ||2 books growing to love them, I dont give a fuck about Alain, jaime or Cuthbert as much.||
I think it's more just exploring the world itself and Roland's back story
Roland was one of my favorite characters in fiction. Well still mostly is. He isn't a Geralt for me but I still love him mostly
I'm just dark tower || wanted to see them chase Randall flagg down.||
I can understand it
He's above Geralt for me tbh
I still remember drawning of the three's opening
Drawning of the three || him losing his fingers and king making it clear he would never get those back. And that beach shit show.||
Dark tower spoilers ||also gives more weight to him actually opening up to his group.||
Roland probably woulda been higher if the overall story didn't nose dive for me
Is it fair? Probably not
But I am just a dude and my conflicting feelings on Roland as a character and what happened with Dark Tower as a whole are often hard to separate
That is regrettable in your case but for me it all ended clicking.
Would suck for me if that happened
It's how it be
I still enjoy the books in dark tower that I do enjoy
And I own the whole series
Maybe one day my mind changes, but probably not soon
Wtf
We will see what life brings. Dark Tower isn't on a list of series like Game of Thrones where I won't read it ever again
If only I could read...
Reading dark tower spoilers ||Insomnia before the dt is always funny||
You should read the dt
After my Witcher re-read/ finishing of since I never read Season of Storms or the new Crossroads of Ravens, I think I'll do Hellboy and then we will see where we are. Maybe I'll get around to Dungeon Crawller Carl
are teh witcher books good???
arent they translated from polishj
I love them personally
Even if they are flawed a bit
Yes they are translated from Polish
I have the 3rd game sitting in my library for eons
I've always been kinda interested in witcher but never really gotten around to it
You can play witcher 3 without reading the books but it's a lot richer with them
I used to not get it at all. I tried getting into the Witcher like 20 times, buying and selling witcher 3 and then one day it clicked
And then I fell in love with the series
does the polish translation make it obtuse to read
Not really
Somethings are lost
But it isn't like
Weird to read
Best way to know if you'll like it imo is just read some stories from the Last Wish. It's kinda both a short story collection and a novel
But it's 300 pages long or so and has some really good stories in it
anyone got nonfiction they like? I finished the power broker looking for something else. I picked up a rockefeller bio but it wont last very long. I already read all the common finance nonfiction books like the smartest guys in the room and all the devils are here
- The Revolutionary Temper by Robert Danton
- Everything is Tuberculosis and The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Greene
- Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe
- In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
- All the President’s Men by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (also watch the movie of the same name)
- A Room of One’s Own - Virginia Woolf
- Slouching towards Bethlehem - Joan Didion
Fascism and Big Business
oh, i guess do you specifically want books that have audiobooks?
It's definitely a plus but not 100% necessary
Check out this book on Goodreads: Why We’re Getting Poorer: A Realist's Guide to the Economy and How We Can Fix it https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/217459693-why-we-re-getting-poorer
Been reading that Qbz. Is p informative
Thanks bunch of good options. Gonna pick one of these off a list in like 2 weeks when I'm done with Rockefeller
was searching for a book that I thought was cool but forgot the name of, short memoir - Moving Zen: One Mans Journey to the Heart of Karate
kind of a deconstructive look at martial arts books of self-change
and has a lot about donn f draeger who is just nuts lmao
Also not the type you are looking for but I loved this:
Around the World in 80 Trains: A 45,000-Mile Adventure
That sounds pretty interesting. I wanna get closer to 50/50 rn I'm like 90/10 in favor of fiction. But the power broker just as like a story ignoring the fact that it's true was a better story than some fiction I've read
do you ever plan on reading the LBJ caro books?
I figure what you want is narrative non-fiction things
So Into the Wild
I looked at it but it's like 6 books or something it seems like so much. I definitely will one day but didn't wanna get right into it after power broker
it really is too much lol
if you thought any part of the power broker was too detailed, TYO lbj might kill you
it is comprehensive as all hell
It was right on the border of being too much, just the right amount
Maybe I just pick like 3/6 that cover the part of his life that seems most interesting
I’ve only read the first volume of that one, pretty expansive but I just left it as is because it’s incomplete lol
probably best
another book i would recommend you is "beyond a boundary" by CLR james but only if you already know the rules of cricket
and have an interest in it
👀
the black jacobins by him is also worth reading and doesn't require cricket knowledge, it's about haiti
i think that one might have an audiobook
I’ve read that

Outstanding Supporting Performance Nominee: TEYANA TAYLOR in ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER #thegothams2025
She deserves it
By far the best performance in the movie
I wasn’t huge on some of the others
Rewatched Stand by Me with my sister in law
Still a 5 star film
Surprised how much she loved it too even though she's a Steven King diehard who's not pretty rough even on the Shining and it's pretty distinct from the King version
Also cuz she's like, not a boy and nearly the whole film is about boys going through puberty and acting like boys lol
the king version is considerably worse imo
Stand By Me and The Shining to me are the best king adaptations
The Shining especially because Kubrick didn’t give a flying fuck about the emotional narrative of the book
He thought it was heavy handed and didactic so he basically changed the entire thing
@foggy mirage
we have been getting a lot of Laterns interview content the past two days
I’m so fucking excited for this new Spielberg UFO film
John Williams scoring it too, it’s #special
Intermezzo ||enjoying the thoughtfulness of this book so far but don’t really care for the sex scenes lol||
Intermezzo|| it’s one thing to have one or two and talk about how sex itself is an important dynamic in these relationships and what it says about the people themselves but I don’t really care to see it played out but maybe that’s just me being childish. I just don’t particularly like reading other people having sex because it feels awkward lol||
I tend to heavily prefer the book on this matter
Movie is good but it doesn't resonate with me the same way.
Best King adaptation is shawshank for me anyways
The shining without that core doesnt hit the same for me
But no trailer
King is a fraud
Cool
