This shit had me laughing you can feel he's about to say it out loud

#

😭

regal root
#

Imagine a solo Lobo movie

foggy mirage
#

That would be funny af

#

But I think he could do it

foggy mirage
regal root
#

If it happens I hope it's rated R

#

Treat it like the DCU version of Deadpool almost

#

Just let Jason have fun

foggy mirage
#

We gotta hope clayface does well then

#

Thats their first rated r movie

#

😭

frank rivet
regal root
#

I'm still shocked they're giving a villain a solo movie like that

foggy mirage
#

He was full sprint

#

😭

regal root
foggy mirage
#

James read the script and liked it alot

#

He's gone on record saying is the script is good to great they go with that

foggy mirage

foggy mirage
#

He tried it

#

Do you like the fact that ||darkseid forgot where the fucking anti life equation was||

shadow sequoia
#

Justice League: Zack Snyder Cut ||Dude, what the hell was that whole action sequence LOL||

#

Justice League: Zack Snyder Cut ||I will say, this cut is objectively better by a lot but holy shit, what the fuck was that theatrical cut lololol||

#

I guess I'm still recovering from how much brain damage Man of Steel and Batman v Superman's writing was, holy fuck

potent stratus
#

I would say snyder cut is worse tbh

shadow sequoia
#

Justice League: Zack Snyder Cut ||A lot to say about this one but I gotta organize my thoughts for the other Superman movies before I see the new one tomorrow but at least his black suit and return where he kicks Steppenwolf's ass in like 3 minutes was cool, I like the banter, the lip shit was distracting, but at least he fucking used his freeze breath||

foggy mirage
#

Absolutely not

#

Neither is very good but josstice is just a very bad movie

potent stratus
#

Same with snyder cut...

foggy mirage
#

Snyder is mid at worst

#

Josstice has zero redeeming qualities

#

Film so bad bro can't get work almost a decade later

#

😭

#

Hollywood gave him the broom

potent stratus
#

I wouldn't say zero but snyder cut legit has ||darkseid forgetting where the anti life equation was||

foggy mirage
#

I can forgive that over how cheeks the mcu version was

potent stratus
#

How

foggy mirage
#

That man couldn't cook age of ultron properly

#

Not suprised he couldn't do a justice league movie

potent stratus
#

The main villain literally forgot where his main goal was

#

On the only planet he lost at

foggy mirage
#

Not gonna argue for hours

#

Simple fact is I'd always watch snyder's slop version before josstice snooze fest

potent stratus
#

You would watch a 4 hour slog of crap versus 2

foggy mirage
#

Absolutely

#

Specially when those 2 hours feel like 6 hours of shit

shadow sequoia
#

Justice League: Zack Snyder Cut ||What in god's name was that scene at the end LMAO||

potent stratus
#

I would disagree, josstice moves so fucking fast because it had the mandate of 2 hours

foggy mirage
potent stratus
#

He might be talking about knightmare

#

That garbage

foggy mirage
#

Oh that it would have been justice leagues sequel

#

I read the scripts

#

Not very good

potent stratus
#

The scripts were hilariously trash

#

Legit superman gets cucked

foggy mirage
#

Yeah i said that

#

But I'll always prefer snyder being terrible than joss being terrible

#

That mfs best project was firelfy

#

😭

#

The only movies I like from him anyways are watchmen and dawn of the dead's remake

shadow sequoia
#

One last movie but holy shit, Zack has never read a fucking Superman comic book in his life

foggy mirage
#

This is true

shadow sequoia
#

James, please save me tomorrow

potent stratus
#

Hit take but it doesn't have to be a good adaptation to be good

foggy mirage
#

Snyder writes superman like he only knows him from batman returns

shadow sequoia
#

No fucking shot I will live in a world where Mario, Sonic, Minecraft, FNAF, and Kpop get movies that blow my fucking hero out of the park

foggy mirage
#

Which im sure is the only dc book he's ever read

lol that was supes from the justice lords 😭

#

Also he worked with fucking goyer that fucker

foggy mirage
#

Goyer is the master of Ls

frank rivet
#

Peacemaker S2 debuting with 100% on RT 🧑‍🍳

foggy mirage
#

Also big reason I liked dawn of the dead remake is James gunn wrote the script

potent stratus
#

Lmao

#

It is so funny to me that gunn has the only 2 good live action modern dc films

#

Sorry tdk too

#

So gunn and nolan

frank rivet
#

i dont consider tdk part of the dceu

potent stratus
#

Fair

frank rivet
#

thats its own thing

foggy mirage
potent stratus
#

Anyway as part of Snyder's dceu he has the only good movie

shadow sequoia
#

Justice League: Zack Snyder Cut ||I will take the extra scenes for Cyborg and the Motherboxes in this cut more than the other one but goddamn, I'm glad the "Snyderverse" died||

foggy mirage
#

Considering it's been folded into dcu canon

frank rivet
#

is harley quinn part of Synders DCEU?

shadow sequoia
#

Keep that motherfucker away from comic books, please

#

300 and Watchmen...

foggy mirage
frank rivet
#

not the live action, the animated

foggy mirage
#

No

potent stratus
#

No

foggy mirage
#

Thats not dcu canon

frank rivet
#

ah ok, then nvm

foggy mirage
#

Only creature commandos

#

So far

frank rivet
#

i was gonna say harley quinn is the best project of the synder era

foggy mirage
#

We just gonna slander the batman ?

potent stratus
#

That is not part of snyderverse

frank rivet
#

is that synder era?

potent stratus
#

I was talking snyderverse

foggy mirage
#

You said live action dc dog

#

Not Snyder verse

potent stratus
#

Sorry whoops lmao

frank rivet
#

nah he said snyderverse

potent stratus
#

No but I meant to

foggy mirage
potent stratus
#

Best snyderverse movie is TSS

foggy mirage
#

Peacemaker is gonna be great anyways

frank rivet
#

ah nvm

foggy mirage
#

I have zero worries about that

frank rivet
#

im so glad i caught up to peace maker 2 weeks ago

potent stratus
#

Yeah s1 was good

foggy mirage
#

I need supergirl to land

#

Cause after her its clayface

potent stratus
#

I am so excited for supergirl

frank rivet
#

same

#

ill probably go Supergirl > Clayface > Laterns for me

foggy mirage
#

Lanterns is high on my hype list cause I need a good live action lanterns project

frank rivet
#

i hope they release clayface during halloween

shadow sequoia
#

Superman Returns ||Man, I don't remember fucking shit about this movie except the bullet hitting his eye that one time lol||

potent stratus

He is doing guy but is he gonna do more lanterns from earth?

Lanterns has hal jordan

And Jon Stewart

Awesome

And guy gardner

Rip my boy kyle

#

Successfully landed a trilogy for marvel

#

And got a bunch of experience

#

I imagine he was already writing parts of the sequel while they filmed 2025

#

He seems to not rush people into a frenzy to finish scripts for him

#

Which is why batman took so long

main lion
#

probably, I mostly just mean that his films all fit the same vibe and have some similar structure in a way

foggy mirage
#

So they know what he wants out of the project

modern lichen
#

Superman is in no way similar to Guardians or The Suicide Squad in vibe and tone

main lion

Superman/GotG/Suicide Squad ||The tone is more serious than GotG or The Suicide Squad, but I think the way he juggles characters, interjects with lightheartedness, portrays character dynamics, and how he portrays action scenes often feel similar. I'm not saying hes copy pasting movies, but you can very much feel they have a similar skeleton in a way.

Like, as an example, Mister Terrific's action scene is very guardians of the galaxy||

shadow sequoia

Superman Returns ||Kryptonite always be fucking easy to find, huh||

main lion
#

something will eventually give

#

its why I prefer regular movie trilogies for this stuff. DCU will get like this eventually too, no matter how good Gunn is at managing it

#

imo

#

but itll probably have a strong start and mid area

#

for like 10 years

main lion
#

MCU ||him being introduced as part of what is essentially an avengers movie, and even his debut "solo" movie being so directly tied to Iron Man, hurt it imo||

GOTG (at least 1 and 2) is completely unconnected from anything else MCU which was rare at the time these movies released

#

and they were better for it

foggy mirage
foggy mirage
main lion

batman works better than spiderman for that reason too

foggy mirage
#

There's like 6 other people fighting crime in gotham

#

I think you mean grounded movie batman or his solo stories

#

But like comics wise ?

#

Yeah not a solo act

shadow sequoia
#

Superman Returns ||Not crazy about this part of the movie with Lois and the kid, can't lie||

main lion
#

they're all directly tied to batman

#

and most get their origin as a result of batman

foggy mirage
#

Not batman and family

main lion
#

I meant batman stories

foggy mirage
#

Plus you can't say its been done in film yet

main lion
#

Im not criticizing the existence of miles morales

foggy mirage
#

Unless you want to rep batman and robin

main lion
#

Im not criticizing the existence of gwen

#

Im criticizing all these major big name heroes that have their own rogue galleries

#

existing in the same exact city

#

in MCU

#

green goblin, vulture, etc. Those are spiderman villains that are meant for spiderman and not for iron man etc

#

The Joker is a batman villain but hes also prevalent in the other bat family comics

#

because they're directly related to one another in their role as heroes

#

etc

foggy mirage
#

Way it sounded thought you were critical over multiple heroes in new york

#

When dc has the same issue with gotham

main lion
#

its not an issue in gotham tho

foggy mirage
#

I mean that's a lot

#

For one city

main lion
#

anyway, context of my message mentions rogue gallery, mentions avengers as an example, etc

#

you know what I mean

foggy mirage
#

New York in marvel has it the worst for sure

#

But gotham and metropolis for me are runner ups for that

#

"Since when does batman have a manga"

main lion
# foggy mirage But gotham and metropolis for me are runner ups for that

gotham isnt as bad since they're all intrinsically tied to batman, and they slowly get added to gotham over time as a result of batman's actions. I'm sure a lot of comics handle the justification of one of them not being there to help in a situation poorly etc, but that'd more be an issue with the comic writing and less an issue with the concept probably.

foggy mirage
#

The real issue is nobody would live in these cities

#

Metropolis has an alien invasion like monthly

main lion
#

cheap rent WAKAINU

foggy mirage
#

"Man the weather is great"

#

Giant metallic skull covers the city

#

Honestly best case scenario is a no name city

main lion
#

but ye either way, that goes hand in hand with why I dont want Pattinson in the DCU WAKAINU A trilogy that is focused solely on batman and the rogue gallery with maybe 1 or 2 bat family members added by the end is best case scenario

foggy mirage

For america

Robin has to show up for battison eventually

Superman III ||Ok, this movie is really fucking weird lol. A lot more slapstick humor than I expected and man, Richard Pryor was incredibly distracting. This character, Gus Gorman is... something, but I'll get to him later.||

Superman III ||Aside from the tone and the misplaced humor, I can appreciate the creative and original angle they were going for here in the beginning where the movie didn't take itself too seriously to allow for more heroic Superman moments. The problem is that it's very forced, meanders a bit too much, and gets stale pretty quick but maybe that's because it's a product of its time. ||

Superman III ||Lana is with a guy named Brad. We get the stereotypical romantic dance but this time with Lana Lang since Lois is just written out of the story. We have some funny scenes with them where Superman uses his super breath to help out her kid from not looking absolutely terrible at bowling and he accidentally hits Pryor's character with a car door lol.||

#

Superman III ||Superman's super hearing is portrayed with edited radio waves LMAO. I liked the fence transition with him changing to Superman. Lana is a terrible mother. Ross and Gus come up with a plan to use Kryptonite against Superman since he saved Colombia and undid a tornado???
BRUH. THAT'S THE MOST POWERFUL SATELLITE YOU'VE EVER SEEN AND IT'S IN THE HANDS OF THIS BOZO???
Superman only drinks decaf apparently. I can't fault this movie too much for being weird because he turns bad, becomes Simpman, and I thought it was wildly out of character but it's because of the Kryptonite??? Dude, I thought I was going crazy when he chose to stay flirtint with Lana (fuck Lois I guess) and just let people suffer on some bridge. Oh, they died. ??? LOL OK. Simpman fails to save someone from the bridge accident so he makes up for it by "correcting" the Leaning Tower of Pisa??? WHAT IS HAPPENING? And he blows out the Olympic torch??? Simpman gets manipulated to help out with the oil shit and then fucks Ross's girlfriend... bruh. Seeing Superman drunk was pretty funny. Superman flies drunk LMFAO||

Superman III ||Superman VS Clark Kent??? Acid breath??? Clark traps Simpman in some tires but then Superman uses his heat vision above Clark and squishes him under one of those magnetic crane thingies, then Simpman then KOs him with a kick. After going through a trash dump, Clark beats Simpman by choking his ass out to death LOL. Missile minigame where one missile hits Superman and KOs him for like 5 seconds. Superman apparently doesn't remember being Simpman. Gus saves the day by destroying the all-powerful computer (I fucking thought the Vega sister or whatever her name was was about to become Brainiac or some shit) and then he just uses some acid. So all in all, Richard Pryor saved Superman and then Superman fixes the Leaning Tower of Pisa for a gag... what the fuck?||

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace ||Superman saves Russians which is pretty funny considering so many people credit him as an American hero but I always thought that was kinda ehhhhh. There's another Kryptonite crystal of some sort again? Lex's nephew, Lenny, uses a car to bait police away and die in a car crash? Well, I thought they were died but apparently not lol. Superman tells everyone that the subway system is still the safest means of public transportation after saying them which is just fucking hilarious. He noticeably avoids Lois here. There's some irony in the Daily Planet becoming a sensationalist tabloid considering today's world but that's neither here nor there. Lois competing with that one girl, Lacy Warfield (lol), is something considering the last movie but I did guffaw quite loudly when that bitch said "All men like me. I'm very, very rich."||

Superman IV ||The further and further I got through this the movie, the more I realized that the first two movies really were the best lol. Superman has a monument where he donated a strand of hair which is just asking for trouble. It's funny how that Russian scene at the beginning was kinda cool to me since Superman should be saving people from all over the world but I didn't realize the movie would end up directly talking about getting rid of nuclear arms. Superman says "DROP DEAD" to kid was pretty funny. I know Superman has been used for propaganda in the past for the US but using this way isn't too bad, I think. The dissolution of the Soviet Union and the Chernobyl incident predate this movie which is quite interesting.||

#

Superman IV ||This is the only movie I've seen where a superhero just fucking attempts suicide only to catch his love interest and reveal his identity as said superhero. I know it wasn't actually a suicide attempt but that was fucking funny and out of nowhere. Lois also says she remembers everything only for Superman to wipe her memory again??? What was the point of that lol. ANYWAYS, Superman declares that he's going to rid the world of nuclear arms which is a nice thought but an absolute fucking fantasy if he ever said that shit irl LOL. EVERY COUNTRY JUST GIVES THEIR NUKES TO SUPERMAN AND HE PUTS THEM ALL IN A NET AND FUCKING FLINGS THAT SHIT INTO THE SUN. Absolute peak. I don't even know what Lex created with his genetic plan but I was wondering where that was gonna go when Superman is all of a sudden at a gym getting revenge on the guy that told him "No pain, no gain." The bad guy's name is literally NUCLEAR MAN lmfao. Lois and Lacy compete for Clark and Superman who compete for screentime but those little scenes of him going back and forth were funny. There's an irony to this movie being funnier than the last one. Fast-forwarding to Superman VS Nuclear Man. I think this fight is the most interesting. I still prefer Superman VS Zod and the others in II but man, he literally reforms stone into the Great Wall of China like I'm fucking playing as him in Fortnite LOL. Nuclear Man actually freezes Superman in space. Did he go to Pompeii??? Man, I can't lie, this movie is like fucking whiplash. I can understand not liking but how many fucking superhero movies have a villain taking the literal Statue of Liberty and just fucking chucking it at civilians LMFAO. So seemingly, Nuclear Man kills Superman by kicking him into the stratosphere only to leave his cape behind and I'm just sitting wondering how Lex even controls or this guy.||

Superman IV ||I don't know how to feel about Lois at this point. So many memory wipes and confessions... (why would you confess your love to Superman when your best friend, Clark, is right there sick as fuck by your side??? GET HIM SOME MEDICINE???) SHE JUST DIPS??? Bro uses the one last green Kryptonite fragment and I guess recharges??? Seemingly, the scratch Nuclear Man gave him fucked him up and then Nuclear Man looks at Lacy's picture in a newspaper Lex left behind and wants her? Superman somehow knows this and is already at the Daily Planet when Nuclear Man just starts blowing shit up. SUPERMAN HAS TELEKINESIS??? I'm crashing out. He trapped him in an elevator... is he gonna fucking fling him away lol. Ohhh, he's just gonna fight him on the moon away from civilians. Smart but the sun is still right there. Ok, at least the choreography (if you can call it that) isn't that bad. He fucking buried his ass into the moon with a couple of stomps, I'm crying. Bro became Simpnuclear Man. HUH? SUPERMAN, WAIT, HOW MANY FUCKING ANIMALS AND PEOPLE DID YOU JUST KILL??? THE TIDES, SUPERMAN??? WHAT THE FUCK LOL; And that's it, he saves her, Perry apparently got Wall Street to boot Warfields out, Superman flies to the UN to talk about peace and he smiles at the camera while flying off into space. What more could ask for?||

Man of Steel ||I appreciate the Kryptonian concept art and the trouble Zack took to make Krypton look more interesting and appealing but I feel like it's distracting. Man, I completely forget about the "Codex." I think I actually fucking hate MacGuffins bro. I can kinda understand being tired of the white ass krystal-looking planet but creating a whole Kryptonian language and weapons and flying lizard-dragon animals, really? Also, Zod's line delivery comes across worse on rewatch for some reason to me. Weird how Jor-El is seemingly a better fighter than Zod, who is a general but ok. Assassin's Creed blade, huh. DUUUUUDE, WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE COCKS? ZACK, WHEN I CATCH YOU!||

Man of Steel ||We just cut to modern day and flashbacks over and over. It's so weird because 1) Clark can't fly yet but he can (jump?) from a ship to an oil rig without trying out his powers yet and 2) He just wanders around like a homeless person looking for work at all these odd jobs. These flashbacks aren't too bad and I understand the emotional core of what Zack is going for but it falls flat when Jonathan Kent is over here actually doing the opposite of what Superman stands for. Also how fucking convenient it is that Superman overhears military personnel talking about where his fortress is.||

#

Man of Steel ||Lois is an expert rock climber. How did Clark even get here??? He still hasn't figured out how to fly yet??? I guess he hitchhiked but not before he fucked that dude's truck up. I've seen a lot of people criticize that because Superman wouldn't do that but if you watch the older movies (Donner films) he does do that kind of petty, vengeful shit (it's more playful though). Ok so he's pretty good at heat vision apparently. I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO ACKNOWLEDGE HOW BAD GHOST JOR-EL'S EXPOSITORY DIALOGUE WAS ABOUT HOW THE KRYPTONIANS HAVE APPARENTLY LIVED FOR 100,000 COLONIZING PLANETS ACROSS THE STARS AND I KNOW HE SAID THEY STOPPED DOING THAT AND HAVING NORMAL BIRTHS BUT APPARENTLY, ZOD AND JOR-EL COULDN'T JUST SAVE WHOEVER THEY COULD AND GO TO ANOTHER HABITABLE PLANET BECAUSE HE LITERALLY SAYS THERE ARE SOME IN THE BEGINNING OF THE FUCKING MOVIE, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THIS MOVIE IS SO FUCKING DOGSHIT BUT I TECHNICALLY GREW WITH THIS BEING MY SUPERMAN MOVIE I WATCHED AND BOUGHT THE FUCKING BLU-RAY, GODDAMN FUCKING IDIOT FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT FUCKHEAD, ZACK WHEN I FUCKING FIND YOU||

Man of Steel ||This is where he finally fucking starts learning how to fly btw, just ignore the entirety of the last hour. He doesn't want to be found out because his dad is guilt-tripping him from death to not act since the world might be afraid of him.||

Superman III and Man of Steel ||SUPERMAN CAN FUCKING FLIP A TORNADO UPSIDE DOWN BTW||

Man of Steel ||I promise audience, Amy and Henry aren't this fucking terrible in any other movie, the script and the dialogue is just that bad. IS ZACK SNYDER A CHRISTIAN??? WHAT IS IT WITH THIS GOD SHIT? IT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE BECAUSE JOR-EL TELLS HIM HE WANTED TO GIVE KRYPTON TO ABILITY TO CHOOSE INSTEAD OF BEING GENETICALLY BORN OUT OF THOSE WEIRD AUTOMATIC WOMB TREES IN THE GENESIS CHAMBER BUT THEN HE'S LIKE "YOUR DESTINY IS TO BE A SAVIOR TO THESE PEOPLE" SO DOES CLARK HAVE A CHOICE OR NOT??? Fucking stupid ass church scene bruh. Maaaaaan, I fucking remember that trailer with the Zod message too and I remember thinking that shit was so fucking cool and creepy. Still weird that Zod is even giving Kal-El a time limit at all but WHATEVER I GUESS||

Man of Steel ||Why the fuck is Lois here? WHO KNOWS, WHO CARES!!! Oh, Zod wants her... why? Wait, did Lois just show up here to specifically point out Superman is weak to Kryptonite? Because Zod points it out anyways. Why is Zod being all nice to Kal all of a sudden? I get that he imprisons him but he actually gave him information about everything. THE PRISON CELL THEY THROW LOIS IN HAS A CONVENIENT HOLE FOR LOIS TO PUT THE LITTLE SUPERMAN KEY THINGIE THAT HE GAVE HER FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN THAT. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME LOL. WHY DID HE GIVE HER THAT? WHY DID HE KNOW THAT SHE WOULD KNOW HOW TO USE IT? DID SHE KNOW HOW TO USE IT? YEAH VIC, SHE DID DUMBASS, DIDN'T YOU SEE HOW SHE PUT IT IN THE HOLE? YEAH BUT THAT'S ONLY BECAUSE JOR-EL IS I GUESS THE ONLY FUCKING SCIENTIST AND SHIPMAKER ON KRYPTON??? WHY ARE THOSE HOLES EVEN IN THE PRISON CELLS? BECAUSE FUCK YOU, THAT'S WHY||

Man of Steel ||Nice, I'm getting Halo 3: ODST flashbacks in my Superman movie. Jor-El, if you talk about Kal-El being a savior one more time. Ok... so he does have super hearing. DUDE, I REMEMBER BEING WEIRDED OUT BY THIS SCENE. I THOUGHT IT WAS SO COOL WHEN I WAS YOUNGER BUT THEN I REALIZED SUPERMAN JUST LEFT HIS MOM WITH LIKE, 3 OTHER KRYPTONIANS, BRUH. THIS GUY DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT SAVING ANYONE LOLOLOL. I'm not gonna lie, I like the action but it's so thoughtless. Superman saves two people (besides Lois and I guess at the end*) in this entire fucking movie. Why did he not lead them away to avoid civilian casualties??? WHAT WAS THAT CRINGE ASS EVOLUTION LINE LOL||

#

Man of Steel ||I guess they just... left? The one big dude got chucked by Supes into an explosive train, he throws it back and then just dipped? His helmet wasn't damaged so why? Only Zod and Faora... whatever. I'm not gonna crash out over the black holes, singularity, or American army propaganda. Blegh. The amount of destruction in this final act is hilariously horrible. What the fuck, my eyes are bleeding. Why would he go to the one in the Indian Ocean??? The Metropolis one is where more people are and Lois and the Daily Planet and you know the military can't win, the fuck? Man, the only good thing about this last half hour is the music. Superman VS Zod is something... I don't know why Zod was able to master his powers in like 3 seconds compared to Clark who took most of his life but maybe it's because he's a general? (Cut to Zod losing to Jor-El lmfao) Everyone in that one building is fucking dead and Superman just watches. I'm crying. Suoerman just dodged the Lexcorp truck and it blew up that fucking building LOL. Shockwave punches. I remember pointing out the Wayne Industries logo on the satellite. Bruh, even more destruction. I didn't even mention because I completely forgot but Superman destroys the genesis chamber ship/fortress of solitude??? by using his heat vision over the city where it crashes jnto like 10 skyscrapers. Also "Krypton had its chance!" was probably Henry's worst line delivery yet. NEVERMIND, I WAS WRONG. "You're a monster, Zod" definitely takes the cake. He had the power to snap his neck the whole time but not the power to close off his airway or move his head??? Why is screaming, I thought "Krypton had its chance" lol. I get it, he doesn't kill (lol) and that was the last Kryptonian but like what? It just isn't earned at all. Honestly, the scene where Superman saves Lois from the black hole isn't even worth acknowledging, it is just so tone deaf and strange. WE DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SEE CLARK KENT IN THIS FUCKING MOVIE. I guess it was cool that that one military throws that one line back in Faora's face I guess. Oh god, that one scene with the chick who said Superman was hot for destroying government property... Man, kill me||

After going back and looking at some comics and the animated series, I'm convinced that anyone who doesn't like Superman (2025) is either not a fan of Superman which is fine or a Snyderverse bro who has extra chromosomes

#

Superman (2025) ||I want a write a bigger piece on this but the movie is literally the best portrayal of the character I've ever seen. How is it possible that anyone could even dislike this movie? The humor can be obnoxious at times and the pacing can be a bit quick but there's a lot of good fucking messaging and morals here? Like they perfectly align with Superman as a character. A person who's literally here to do good, regardless of the purpose. I see people getting mad at the portrayal of his parents being hyperfixated on Kal-El taking over the Earth and ruling over them and making a harem (lol) and I'm just like... it works with the story that James wrote though? Did they miss the Pa Kent scene (arguably, the best scene in the movie) or the ending? Clearly, James is trying to show us that Superman, despite making a ton of mistakes and being very capable and powerful, has flaws and is human just like everyone else. The endinh is supposed to show us how he's moved on from relying on his biological parents and it's funny to me because even in the animated series and comics (aside from a few) he kinda just... does this??? Like he absolutely loves his Kryptonian parents but the Kents are really the bread and butter. Not to mention, Lois Lane supporting him throughout the entire movie. It's as if everyone has just been mindraped for the last couple of years and can't stand a superhero being vulnerable and optimistic, naive but kind. What the fuck? After watching Henry's performance, the scripts for those Snyder movies, the tone, the horrendous dialogue, and the nonsenical action, you'd have to be mentally impaired to even consider that portrayal better. Brandon Routh wasn't terrible and Christopher Reeve was good but like... this actually feels like Superman??????||

Superman 2025 is about as politically charged as a major franchise movie like it can get in [current year] without executives slapping it down

It's not necessarily making bold statements, it's all pretty surface level and generalized, but the fact it's coming from the mouth of a character like Superman who's so universally recognizable and has not been allowed to do anything like this since the mid 80s is what makes it notable

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ||This color grading or color palette is abysmal and makes me want to die. So in the building where Superman and Zod are fighting, apparently Clark's super hearing is off because he ignores saving one of Bruce Wayne's employees while Zod tries out his heat vision for the first time. Bruce helps some random employee but the guy's leg is broke. Bruce is also just running around and driving around like a madman despite having no safety measures or gadgets with him but ok. God, I fucking hate this take on Superman. Like I get it, controversy and political drama sells but one of the main reasons I avoided this movie for the longest time is because I could see the writing on the wall that this would not be a good nor enjoyable movie and boy, was that an understatement. Batman wanting to kill Superman and thinking that there is no doubt about that conclusion is just... so bad man. I get it, the Dark Knight Returns, I get it, I just think it's pure dogshit. Like we don't even see him investigate this further, he's already made up his mind. I can appreciate seeing an older, more damaged (insert Joker meme here) Batman who lost his Robin. But idk, it just feels wrong and unearned. Not to mention, Alfred constantly warning him to not be this way throughout the whole movie only for Bruce not to listen is ehhh. Whatever, who fucking gives a shit anymore? Not Zack.||

BvS: DoJ ||Sidenote: Not gonna even comment on Lex being able to get access to the genesis chamber that we thought was destroyed and Zod's body by bribing one Senator but whatever. Also, why did we have an entire sequence where Batman steals kryptonite from Luthor only for the kryptonite to be gone and then he gets it offscreen later???|| GOOD ONE, ODA, YOU FUCK!

BvS: DoJ ||All of this happens with no investigation on Bruce's side to actually see how much of a threat Superman is or even considering the fact that Superman was fighting (I know it doesn't come across that way in Man of Steel but suspension of belief everybody!) to protect everyone from Zod genociding the whole planet. I guess Bruce just never found that out??? He has a random dream where Zack must've been drunk while writing the script introducing the Flash early, warning him about Superman, and that Lois Lane is the key. If I recall correctly, this is to set up Flashpoint but it's also a dream sequence so any general audiences would just be confused about the whole thing (Why not just make it happen while Bruce is awake? lol) Before this, we actually do get to see Henry be Clark Kent and he presses Bruce Wayne a bit on the hypocrisy of Batman for calling out how Superman is apparently this dude sent to wipe us out despite Batman KILLING people and BRANDING criminals (I don't even take an issue with that, it's just bizarre, like what is Zack trying to say and also, THESE ARE SUPERHEROES BTW). Wonder Woman is here because WHY NOT and the most cringeworthy and eye-bleeding scene occurs where Lex glazes Clark's firm hand grip and tells Bruce that no one should fight this guy AAAAAAAAAAAAAA. It's so fucking bad. All of this only for Bruce to investigate, get his shit stolen by WW, and then fail to steal kryptonite, yet succeed in an offscreen scene. Amazing fucking writing and directing, absolute fucking peak shit right here. And you're telling me none of them got Oscars? Ludicrous.||

#

BvS: DoJ ||Anyways, we get a tease of the rest of the Justice League. I genuinely don't know who cast Jason Momoa as Aquaman but they need to be fired and removed the industry. The Flash is fine but we know now how fucking hilariously terrible that casting was. Cyborg is just there... we actually see a Motherbox too ugh... they are literally just the antithesis of the MCU lmfao. Wonder Woman as well but we already know about her. Such a shoehorned hype scene that is completely unearned because it's so fucking random and out of place with the pacing.||

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 END ||Reminds me of the Sinister Six tease. OOOOOOOH, LOOK AT US, PLANNING AHEAD, SO SMART, SO HYPE!!! TEEHEE!|| TAKE NOTES, ODA! Oh wait...

BvS: DoJ ||Cut to a congressional hearing where that one-legged dude who apparently just ignored all of Superman's good moments (he saves so many fucking people in the movie but it's just glossed over in some dour ass compilation) and he wants him held accountable. Same guy that Bruce saves but Lex also gifted him a chair. At some point, I don't know if it was earlier or later we find out but regardless, the chair is made out of lead so Superman couldn't see it was rigged with a bomb. I understand what Zack was going for here, I really do. But HOLY FUCK, SUPERMAN JUST FLIES OFF AFTER THE EXPLOSION AND EVERYONE GETS VAPORIZED, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? HE DOESN'T EVEN TRY TO HELP ANYONE WHO GOT INJURED OUTSIDE OR SEE IF ANYONE MADE IT IN THE BUILDING, HE JUST FUCKING DIPS LMFAO. This only adds fuel to the fire but WAIT, VIC, MOTHERFUCKER OF ALL MOTHERFUCKERS TO ASSUME, NO, YOU'RE WRONG. There are scenes after that paint the guy as a suicide bomber or terrorist because they found out that the bomb was inside the chair and not because of Superman so why do they hate Superman more now? I think that's the case or at least, the idea the movie is going for but no one investigates where he got the chair? I guess we can assume Lex made sure to keep that in check. I'm going a little out of order here with the timeline of events but essentially, Lex wants the ship and Zod's body to... presumably kill Superman? He's playing both sides by pushing Batman closer to wanting to kill Superman which is a little silly because Batman already wants to do that but not only that, he's coming up with a failsafe? Zod returning as Bizarro?||

BvS: DoJ ||The climax of this movie is incredibly taxing on the human mind. So Superman comes back when Lex kidnaps Lois (he already kidnapped Martha Kent and I guess Superman couldn't hear that happen and he couldn't hear Lois get taken, WHATEVER) and throws her off a building. Then Lex goads Supes to fight Bats in order to save his mom (lol). THIS WHOLE PLAN IS BETTING ON BATMAN KILLING SUPERMAN DESPITE LEX HAVING A BACKUP PLAN (I think? that involves undead Zod just in case Bruce fails) BUT THEN SUPERMAN REASONABLY GOES TO BATMAN TO TRY TO CONVINCE HIM TO NOT FIGHT. He only tries for like 5 seconds though and fails to mention that Lex has his mom... lol. Batman and Superman fight and you would think that considering it's the fucking title of the movie, there'd be more smaller battles or a buildup to a much bigger one but this was so fucking boring and a waste of time. You get like 10 minutes of any actual fighting. Batman uses some tricks and gadgets with soundwaves, lights, guns, but nothing works until he shoots a grenade launcher with kryptonite. The best part of the fight is when Batman is punching Superman and I guess the kryptonite wears off and he can't punch his face anymore only for Batman to raise his hands like "WAIT, NO PLEASE, STOP!!!" LMFAO. Batman wins by hitting Superman with another grenade, beating his ass over the head with a literal kitchen sink and throwing him down some floors. Mind you, he does this while mocking and making fun of the idea of Superman with phrases like "I bet you thought you were special" and some shit that a fucking supervillain would say. He also made a kryptonite spear because why not and is about to stab Superman when Clark reveals that his mother's name is Martha... Batman tweaks out and LOIS LANE appears out of nowhere to tell him that's Superman's mom's name. Classic. AND they're bros now for some reason... sure, whatever, who gives a fuck|| SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF, ANOTHER ODA W

BvS: DoJ ||Batman rescues Martha in a pretty cool scene if you ignore that he fucking made a dude explode and killed everyone (I think he stabbed that one guy in the heart LOL). Pretty cool how they crossed over with Marvel and had the Punisher in this movie. BIG W. Lex realizes his plan failed and creates Doomsday using Zod's body..... ok. Superman comes back just in time to save Lex (lol). A fight ensues where Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman fight Doomsday on an uninhabited island (they literally say this). There is so much destruction and dark lighting here that I actually can't even fucking tell what is going on. There's a scene in here at some point where Lois throws the kryptonite away in some water, then Batman or Wonder Woman realizes that Doomsday is weak to kryptonite just like Superman, and then Lois (without even being near the area somehow realizes this and tries to get the spear back but almost drowns). Superman hears her trying to breathe and comes to her rescue and gets the spear. Superman and Wonder Woman continue to fight Doomsday while Batman does fuck-all because apparently, he's just completely useless??? I know he was in his Batmobile for a bit but nothing significant came of that. They also apparently move to the city again for some reason? So Doomsday is just randomly nuking Metropolis or Gotham over and over again. Anyways, Wonder Woman cuts Doomsday some and lassos the beast and holds it while Superman sacrifices himself to kill it. Lois begs him not to > cheap ass unearned ass emotional moment > Superman dies and Batman realizes how much of a dumbfuck he is (kidding, Zack would never write that silly, the fuck were you thinking?)|| SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF ODABROS EATING GOOD, HUH

#

BvS: DoJ ||Batman confronts Lex after he's imprisoned and doesn't brand him... ok (why not?). Lex hints at Darkseid I guess and there's a funeral scene for Superman. Clark meant to marry Lois and THEN Bruce says failed Superman and needs more people to fight what's coming. At the end, dirt above Superman's grave rises a little bit... but this is contradictory to—WHO FUCKING CARES, MORON, JUST GIVE ZACK MONEY, BITCH!||

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition ||I watched this version of the movie that was kinda different and it added some more scenes with Batman, random extras, and Superman talking with Pa "Fuck them kids" Kent. Great stuff. It sucked even more, added little to the movie, and made me realize that apparently, it's hard to write DC characters.||

Superman Returns ||This movie isn't actually that bad. Reading up on it some more, it apparently was meant to be a sequel to Superman II? It's a weird introduction and I don't like that it's dour and mopeyness was reminiscent to Man of Steel but whatever. I think the opening doesn't really allow to enjoy or even celebrate Superman and after the massive gap between Superman IV and this movie, it's really sad and a letdown imo. I don't like that Superman seemingly didn't tell anyone he was leaving to seemingly look for the remnants of Krypton and whatever was going on with that. Lois comes across as strange to me here (my parents watched this with me and hated her). My dad was calling a Superman a cuck the whole time which made me laugh and I even joked about it but I was thinking in the back of my head that there had to be more to that and it turns out I was right. He wasn't a cuck, he was just a poor communicator and the guy that Lois is with isn't even a bad dude lol. He actually comes to their rescue at the end. I think this movie was just a product of bad placement and timing. Apparently, they were supposed to do a sequel and it was made by Bryan Singer (yikes) but that never happened. I think Brandon's portrayal of Superman isn't too too bad but I feel like Henry was kinda the same way. DID EVERYONE IN THE 2000s JUST FORGET THAT SUPERMAN IS ABOUT HOPEFULNESS AND KINDNESS, WHY ISN'T HE SMILING? LMFAO. At least in this one, Superman is fucking saving people from a falling airplane-shuttle, that was pretty cool ngl. I really liked the scene where he's just fucking tanking bullets to the eye and walking up to the minigun. That was peak. I also think it's cute that he is still looking out for random people to save, albeit, Lex's bitch (I forget her name) that he always has.||

Superman Returns ||Speaking of Lex, Kevin Spacey (ew) isn't too bad. He's no Gene Hackman but compared to what we got in the DCEU, at least he was somewhat intimidating and evil. He actually fucking beat up and stabbed Superman with a little bit of kryptonite and his plan works so you gotta give him credit where credit is due. I can forgive most of the scenes of this movie because I think after revisiting the DCEU, I was really hoping for literally ANYTHING ELSE so I didn't judge it as harshly. It has some rewatch value, the music is completely nonexistent, and the action is meh. But it wasn't a dour movie and the kid being Superman and Lois's kid was interesting. I mean, he fucking shoved that giant ass piano into that dude and saved his mom, that was too funny to me. Also, I completely forgot that this movie is where that "WRONG!" meme comes from but the actual scene to the buildup was nice. I think this Lex is supposed to be the same as the Gene Hackman one so the wanting of land checks out. I have to credit to this movie for that because even in the DCEU, I can't even understand why Lex wants to kill Superman. I swear to god, that was never established or I'm fucking going crazy. I appreciate the little arc Lois went through and writing positively about Superman and I liked when he was able to save them all from the falling island and he just fucking ignores saving Lex and I can appreciate the tiny aspect of hope sprinkled in at the end where he looks down at Earth similar to the Reeve Superman movies. I don't know, it's kinda charming in its own way but it's not anything above like a 4/10 and it's not super memorable; But it's also so minimal that it's harmless, I can appreciate the actors and the script more in retrospect compared to all of the dogshit that came later.||

Superman (2025) ||Alright, so this one I was pretty skeptical on. After seeing how James Gunn portray the Guardians of the Galaxy (who I didn't even know about until the movies), I was like "Maybe there's a chance" because he at least had a proven track record with superhero movies. I think after Avengers: Endgame, I, myself, was kinda tired of the genre altogether. Don't get me wrong, I still went to see Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and The Batman. But I was tuning out of the superhero moviegoing phase of my life. So when I saw the trailer for this new Superman, I was like ehhh. Another reboot after another reboot after a supposed sequel that I grew up with was a lot. In the time that I have been alive, there has been so many remakes and reboots, it was getting to be a little much. So I wasn't super interested in it at first. I think the first time it peaked my interest was hearing about that one tagline or promo line: "Kindness in a world where kindness is old-fashioned."||

Superman (2025) and Man of Steel ||It was really fucking eye-opening cause I had the realization that I couldn't think of a scene where Henry's Superman ever really saved anyone? Not memorably at least. I think he saves like two guys and Lois (this is a given in any Superman movie) in Man of Steel (Yes, I know he saves the world but that's a given). I'm talking about significant moments that I could see myself being a kid and looking up to this Superman. Man of Steel Superman was nothing like that LOL. I was in high school when that movie came out I think? The only good thing I could think of was that it reminded me of anime/manga fights (lol) and that was it. It had "EPIC" and "COOL" action and that was the sum of why I liked it. Cut to a decade later and I'm a different person now but like... I was a fucking idiot when it came to media literacy in terms of comics > movie adaptations. Fuck man, I remember forcing my parents to take me to watch Man of Steel on the FIRST DAY IT CAME OUT LMFAO. I remember loving it too, fuck me.||

Superman (2025) ||Moving on, my parents refused to watch this one with me (until the other day, I pushed them to) and let me just talk about my first experience here. Most of the movie theater was crowded still and I went into this like I said, with an open but skeptical mind, because I had no expectations from James Gunn or any Superman movie for that matter. I had rewatched all of the DCEU movies in preparation for this, really just to see how it compared or if it was somehow worse. Imagine my surprise when I walk away thinking that this is the best Superman movie I've ever seen and maybe the best superhero movie ever??? Like what the fuck just happened? Ignoring online chatter and any spoilers was a godsend because I probably would've been pissed off if I had anything shown to me early but thankfully, I was able to get a completely blank experience and damn, that was a fun ride. I got worried a little bit at the beginning when it just showed text on screen that the audience had to read but I let it slide when the movie just jumped in pretty quickly. Seeing Krypto act like a bit of a mutt or rather, an average dog was quite the subversion, I liked that a lot (I'm not too familiar with Krypto or Supergirl tbh). I think my mind became more at ease when I saw how Superman acted. Something about the way that David acts as the guy comes across as more genuine than I've ever seen anyone portray our boy scout besides Christopher and that was really cool to me. I remember the robots in the comics and thought that was neat to finally see. The humor wasn't too out there but enough to get a chuckle out of me. Good signs. I like the camerawork of just following Superman as he's flying. The Engineer was a nice addition. Also, why does the Fortress of Solitude in this portrayal? lol||

TWOK END ||This is the first Brandon Sanderson book I have touched. After hearing his name constantly brought up in fantasy discourse, I figured it was time to take the plunge into The Stormlight Archive myself. Reading this book, particularly in its last quarter, made me feel like I was a kid again, when I really loved reading. And for its faults that is one of the strongest things I can say about this book because when I finished it all I wanted to do was continue reading, and that’s such an awesome feeling to feel.
I guess I’ll just start with all of the main characters and go through my thoughts on them. I won’t lie, in the first quarter of Kaladin’s story, it felt like we were kinda meandering around because it takes a little while for bridge four to actually become the team it does. It’s not like we were getting worldbuilding like we were with Shallan, it was kind of just Kaladin being mopey about being a slave. But man, once we do have bridge four and that spark of hope, this shit rocks. And to go back to the first quarter I feel like that sounds a bit harsh, and I understand hopelessness is needed to make it feel rewarding, but it felt like there wasn’t much going on. Regardless, once Kaladin starts giving a shit his story rules, you get so much time to ruminate and get accustomed to their life that you start to really feel their wins and their losses. Every one feels like your own and it’s cool to finally see Kaladin start to accept himself and his leader position. Especially near the end, when he starts becoming almost this icon for hope for the bridgemen. His backstory throughout was also really great, I think Lirin himself is a great character, and him trying his hardest to protect his little town despite them getting upset at him and the relationship between him and Kaladin was well done.||

#

Twok end ||I really do think, and hope, that we will get to see his parents again and see their reaction to Kaladin now. That last battle on the plains with Dhalinar being trapped and Kaladin reluctantly accepting that he has to start being good, simply just because someone has to, was awesome. And Dhalinar repaying his debt by giving away his shardblade of all things to Sadeas of all people is perfectly in character and goes to show the length Dhalinar will go to. With the end of this book, and the Almighty saying how Odium could give a challenger, I think if they do go that route it’s pretty obvious it will be Kaladin who ends up being it. As I’m like 99% sure that’s what he saw in the storm with Syl when he was strung up. Also I forgot to say Syl is the goat and the queen and we all love her and she’s awesome and sweet and the best. It’s real nice that we’re finally in a place where I’ll get to see Kaladin interacting with Dhalinar, and Shallan and Jasnah once they approach the plains. I don’t really see Bridge Four developing the powers of the radiants?? I’m not sure, they brought up trying to teach it but it doesn’t seem like that’s something you can do, But Dhalinar did see in his vision that he has to bring back the Knights. Also before I move on I want to bring up bridge four because I didn’t, Rock is the best of them, obviously. Teft is really cool and I liked how he got more to do in the later half of the book. Sigzil being related to Wit is one of those things that has to come back later. Moash I could see like, maybe end up becoming a friendly rival of Kaladins? Probably not but he’s so adept with the spear and started off disliking him. Kaladin is probably too far ahead already but I could see it happening. ||

#

Twok end ||There has to be setting up something with the Parshman they recruited whos name I’m forgetting. I mean, even besides the voidbringer stuff and him getting activated there has to be more. Unless his role really was to just show that the Parshendi don’t like their bones being moved with. Lopen is also silly. Other then that I would say none of Bridge four to me stands out. ||

#

Twok end|| It's hard to say, but I think Shallan may have been my favorite character in this book? I’m not sure. I really enjoyed imagining these huge libraries dug deep into the ground and just this alcove of knowledge was really cool to me. And Jasnah is probably my favorite non point of view character. I don’t know I was just a sucker for the worldbuilding and the conflict between her trying to steal the Soulcaster and her genuinely enjoying being a student of Jasnah. Their relationship was one of my favorite in the book and she was such an interesting mentor that encouraged to ask questions and she was just very cool. She has some of the biggest mysteries in the book and I’m so excited to see where they go seeing that the realm that Shallan jumped into wasn’t just some vision, but rather a real dimension. And all the revelations at the end of her point of view with them finding out the Parshmen are voidbringers and the Soulcasting wasn’t even real and that Jasnah and now Shallan can do this makes me so curious as to why. Not to mention the obvious figures Shallan is seeing. Is that related to the soulcasting, can Jasnah seem them as well or is this just a Shallan only thing? How will Shallans family react to her going to the shattered plains? Also I still believe she is a Shardbearer, and I need to figure out more about how she literally killed her dad. Shallan’s POV made me ask the most questions, and that’s what I enjoyed about it so much. I was with her learning all this knowledge and from it, even more questions arose. Not to mention the chapter where she does go crazy and starts seeing people and stabs herself was awesome and one of the best in the book. With them heading to the shattered plains I don’t really know what that will mean for the story. Obviously they’re going to try and figure out how they can stop the parshmen from activating but I don’t know what that will look like. I’m really excited to continue reading. ||

TWOK END ||Dhalinar I think may be my least favorite main point of view? But that’s stupid to say because they are all so close together and I enjoyed all of them so much. So it doesn’t really mean much regardless. I won’t lie, in the last third of the book I was really growing on Sadeas. Him calling out Dhalinar and saying how someone else can simply just be wanting to do good without any alternative reason and him being charming I found him cool. Revealing that the visions Dhalinar saw puts them in a new light. I really enjoyed him and Adolin’s relationship. I really hope Renarin gets more to do in the next book because he got kicked to the side so heavily. Just absolutely nothing to do. The argument between Dhalinar and Adolin was one of my favorite scenes in the book and it was such a good moment seeing Adolin tell him that he would take it from everyone else but his sons. I think Sanderson really kept trying to make it like Dhalinar was some sort of outcast from the camp but it felt very tell and not show. “There are rumors.” “dad the soldiers will rumor” I swear something about the rumors was said every chapter and yet you barely saw soldiers or other highprinces actually questioning the sanity of Dhalinar besides Adolin himself. For all the rumors you would think maybe Dhalinars troops would question him or something so that felt like something he kept trying to beat you over the head with but didn’t really work. Him and Navani’s relationship is cute, I don’t really see where it will go from here? It feels like the whole thing with Navani was the chase, or the fact that she was always teasing him and not that we are here I’m curious to see what they will do with navani. Dhalinar as a character was really awesome though, I loved him always trying to consider the right thing to do. ||

#

TWOK END ||He felt like a mix of ned stark and Barristan selmy, but I also liked the quiet rage he has when he lashed out on the battlefield. I wonder if the Thrill is something more then just fighting in combat. It seems like it is, as Adolin and Dhalinar discuss it together. I can’t imagine its just the thrill of combat especially with it being always capitalized. I think Dhalinar probably has the most clear path going forward, because he literally says it. And that on top of him having visions of God makes me wonder just what’s going to happen. Also I love the fact he beat the shit out of Elhokar. But I’m really excited to see where he goes especially now that him and Sadeas are going to be clear enemies. Can’t wait for more confrontations or a fight between them. Especially with Elhokar naming him the general of war. But yeah, Dhalinar is awesome, old dudes who fight are awesome. I’ll bunch Adolin in here as well and I hope we get to see more of him as well but he’s really cool. I hope we get to see him grow more, I don’t have much to say about him other than I want to see more of him. Wit was also a really interesting character and I’m sure Sanderson has much in store for him. Although his jokes are just not very funny unfortunately but he’s very interesting when he’s actually serious. ||

#

TWok end ||I really don’t know what to make of most of the interludes besides Szeth. Theres the water people who are like fishing and the guy is tryna get married. I dunno, there’s the merchant girl, there’s the guy hunting spren. Like I really don’t know much to say about these. Szeth is an awesome character though, a tragic one, but awesome. He fights really cool with the lashings and him being unable to kill himself is tragic considering all the acts he is committing. It turning out the the man who controlled him is the king of Kharbranth was something I wasn’t expecting. He obviously knows more about Odium and the Desolation but I don’t know why that means he needs to kill Dhalinar. I don’t know why there aren’t any other Truthless wandering about, why don’t people just use them as slaves instead of Parshmen? I dunno. Hope to find out more about that. That’s some of my thoughts on this book, really excited to hop into Words of Radiance and get answers.||

Superman (2025) ||Anyways, Hammer of Boravia has heat vision so ngl, I had a feeling it was going to be some other Superman-like baddie. Mfw that one bitch says "Ultraman, you did so good!" lol. I liked the way that Lex is portrayed as having studied Superman to the point of coming up with combos and fight scenes to specifically beat his ass. If there's one thing Kendrick and Lex taught me, it's that I'm not hating nearly enough or to the degree that I should be. Loved how petty he was in this movie and the idea of this whole country conflict being Lex just fucking with Supes with some actors, makeup artists, and some military menaces across the street from Metropolis is really fucking funny. The fact that civilians are actually fucking helping Superman during t he battle is awesome, hell, I didn't even mind the one guy who's like "Maybe you shouldn't have done that thing in Jarhanpur, Superman." IO appreciate the fucking world in this movie being ALIVE and ACTIVE. APPARENTLY, THAT'S REALLY HARD FOR SOME WRITERS. The fucking Daily Planet scene, holy fuck. IMPOSSIBLE FOR BRYAN AND ZACK APPARENTLY (I know Bryan technically gave us one in his movie but it made me feel dead on the inside). This scene actually makes me feel like Clark, Lois, and Jimmy actually have chemistry, get along, and feel like they've been in this business for a bit. It fucking feels like a real friendship.||

Superman (2025) ||I loved the Clark and Lois back and forth. It felt like a real couple fight and I'm so happy that Lois actually fucking felt like an actual journalist who digs and hunts for the truth in this movie. She shouldn't be holding back on Clark despite being Superman because that's who she is, a well-renowned journalist (my parents, however, despised this scene). I thought the setup for an imminent breakup was nice cause I expected that they would make up later in the movie and I was proven right. (My parents are thoughtless heathens so they were unamused). I like that Lex outplays Superman by distracting him with a monster. We get a nice scene of Lex's crew bantering with each other and I really do think that James is just really fucking good at making side or supporting characters stand the fuck out because it's awesome, it works, and does SO FUCKING MUCH to make the movie come alive. The Engineer fights weird but I like it and the movie poses the question of how Lex even got into the Fortress of Solitude and that's a fun headscratcher to think about for later. I like the introduction of the "Justice Gang" since it feels way more intricate and fleshed out. These guys made me laugh the entire time they were on screen and you can't really go wrong in my book with Nathan Fillion. I like that there's a special case of attention put to having Superman saving people and animals.||

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Superman (2025) ||It's funny too because I was thinking about GOTG 3 when I saw Superman blow away the dog and I wonder if James felt like he needed to do that after all of the animal cruelty from that movie and that just naturally got extended to Superman, really neat and wholesome either way.||

#

Superman (2025) ||Hell, even with the kaiju, Superman is trying to not kill it and maybe save it. I fucking love that, THAT'S the Superman I know. Naive and too trusting of people but always putting others first, man or animal. Mr. Terrific is obviously the biggest standout of the three with Guy Gardner just being the absolute embodiment of an asshole and I love it and Hawkgirl just fucking screeching everywhere (I was laughing every time she did this lmfao). I had never heard of his character before so it was cool to be introduced to someone totally know and immediately like them, really reminded me of a kid who read his first crossover. Next comes the only issue I have with this movie where everyone gets gaslit into thinking that Superman is here to have a harem (lol wtf) and rule over the Earth. The issue being that I think there reactions going from "We love you, Superman!" to "Get away from my son and daughter, Alien!" was a little too fast but this is completely overshadowed by fucking REALITY AND MY OWN COUNTRY'S REACTIONARY MENTALITY SO IT'S NOT TOO FAR FROM THE TRUTH THESE DAYS LOL. I like that Green Lantern Good Guy Gardner at least keeps the people out to talk with Superman and confront him about it. Mr. Terrific reinforces that Lex's findings about Superman's parent's message is genuine which is sad but I liked where it was going (apparently, people are constantly talking about the Els being always good people who send Superman to help and save humanity?) Not always the case but whatever, those morons don't read comics. Then comes one of the best scenes in the movie where Superman talks to Lois and just completely opens up to her. I love this scene so much because a lot of it and the movie as a whole are doing is actually humanizing Superman.||

Man of Steel, BvS: DoJ, and Superman (2025) ||I didn't talk about it much earlier and I don't know why but Zack was just fucking obsessed with making Superman out to be this fucking destined godlike figure to humanity and I understand that this is something some comics portray and that people like that, frankly, I just don't think it works most of the time. At least, not in the way Zack portrayed it. Superman in those movies comes across as a sociopath and hypocrite who couldn't care less who lives or dies unless the plot tells him to. And the movies' lighting, tone, and themes are just fucking depressing. Why did he think that Batman's stories would work with Superman movies? HELL, EVEN FUCKING BATMAN ISN'T THAT DEPRESSING||

#

Superman (2025) ||Anyways, I love Lois and Superman's conversation about punk rock and how caring about people and caring about Krypto is the real "punk rock." Fucking fantastic writing, believable acting, and good CGI. It's adorable how the Justice Gang is so well established that Superman can just leave them be and have an emotional and slow moment to breathe while they save the city from a giant eyeball from Terraria. I love the hug she gives him. Superman turns himself in and it's honestly messed up to see that even Lex's crew are bought into the guy's same idea of "Fuck Superman" because they're looking at our boy like he's just nothing lol. I fucking died of laughter seeing that ragebaiting monkeys were created by Lex just to post #supershit to trigger the hell out of Supes. Fucking gold. Also, Krypto chasing super squirrels? Genius. This Lex is also just fucking menacing because he actually wants to kill Superman but legally? He already imprisoned a powerful guy like Metamorpho by keeping his son hostage but damn, I like the setup or rather workaround to keep Superman at bay with a guy who can literally make kryptonite. I love that Lois is trying to actively investigate what happened to her boy and I love that she actually makes progress in getting at least Mr. Terrific out. That fucking montage of Mr. Terrific just kicking everyone's ass at that one LuthorCorp base was soooo good. You can really tell James loves his music and knows how to use it. Also, good cinematography and creative fighting here. I also appreciate the Jimmy and Eve subplot. Made me laugh more than I expected but I like that Jimmy is also investigating and active in the fucking story. The scenes with Mr. Terrific and Lois were fantastic. The moment when Lex kills that one guy that was friendly to Superman was genuinely sad and it actually caught me off-guard when the gun went off so suddenly. They do a really good job of making you despise Lex as he hunts for more people to kill to interrogate Superman. Metamorpho finally locks in after that since he probably didn't expect Lex to do that so he agrees to help Superman but that kryptonite exposure really did him dirty. It's pretty cool that we can actually see the radiation poisoning fuck up Superman's face, visually, I think that's new to the live action portrayals (I might be wrong but I don't remember that in the DCEU). Love that Metamorpho helps him out with a makeshift sun and that fucking heroic ass triumphant ass music plays in the background, like holy shit. This entire sequence is amazing, I could talk about it forever but I love the shenanigans of Superman, Krypto, Metamorpho, and Joey just doing their best to escape while Mr. Terrific and Lois are out there next to the portal struggling to understand what the fuck is happening. I love that Krypto is still unruly as ever and the fucking part where Superman saves them all by using his breath AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, he hasn't fucking used that shit enough in the movies I feel (I want more freeze breathe usage, please, James Gunn, do iiiiiiiiiiiit). I love that Superman acknowledges Lois coming to save/help him and I like that everyone feels like they've earned each other's trust and friendship.||

Superman (2025) ||My favorite scene in this entire movie is the part where Pa Kent talks about what it means to be a parent and tells Clark that it really is all about your choices, your actions making you you. It really speaks to me and as someone who could tell that my own parents didn't or couldn't get the memo, this completely went over their heads. (Not surprising, they've been mindraped since COVID-19). But it made me tear up because it felt like something all of these Superman movies should be telling kids. It's not about where you're from, it's about the actions you take in spite of that. Fuck destiny. Fuck being chosen to save everyone. Fuck being an alien. Just be yourself and save who you can.|| TAKE SOME NOTES, BITCH, I KNOW YOU SAW THE FUCKING MOVIE TOO, BUDDY

Superman (2025) ||I love that Superman's comeback feels earned and that his parents are supporting his actions and feel proud as shit, let's fucking go, you can imagine how pumped I was for the finale. It's soooo fucking funny that Eve comes in clutch for Jimmy and Lois is over here able to fucking come up with a takedown of Lex Luthor and I love that Perry and everyone just fucking accepts and flies on Mr. Terrific's ship, what the fuck lmfao. The Superman fight against Engineer and Ultraman was cool. The fact that Lex came up with a move just to fucking kick Superman's balls is peak hater energy. I like when Superman just fucking grabs the Engineer and starts ragdolling her towards Ultraman lol. And the part about filling up his lungs to kill him was crazy, there's a moment where the editing makes us cut to Lex smiling down on Superman and it's like the perfect "villain thinks he's about to win until it all falls apart" moment. Superman just fucking outplaying everyone by flying straight into space. At first, I thought he was just gonna fucking have the pair (Engineer and Ultraman) get KO'd from the lack of oxygen but nah, he just fucking divebombs back to Metropolis LOL. That Engineer nanotech stuff is icky, I can't tell you how many times I've thrown up in my life but it looks exactly how it looked after the divebomb, just a bunch of fucking shit in your nose and mouth and it just keeps coming out. Gross but I liked how real that felt lmao. The Ultraman reveal that he was a clone was neat. I kinda expected something like that but I love that we got a clear explanation for how Lex got into the fortress. Also, the cinematography is fucking awesome. So many spins and cool camera shots that just feel like Ultraman/Superman's weight, power, punches feel fucking heavy. I fucking love the idea of superheroes outsmarting the supervillains, especially when said supervillain is specifically known for being smart, it felt so good hearing Superman throw back that "brain beats brawn" shit back at him. But also, goddamn, this dude was ready to start a real war just to justify killing Superman. Wild but respectable hater ass shit. Fucking peak writing having Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Metamorpho help out the people on the other side of the world while Superman deals with Lex. It's so cool to see a good injection of heroes in a solo movie where it doesn't feel too crowded and like they don't belong. Hawkgirl just fucking screeching while killing that one president LOL, Metamorpho with the big hammer and liking the name "Justice Gang" and getting recruited, and Green Lantern making GIANT FUCK YOU FINGERS. Holy fuck, James Gunn just knows how to write? Lol.||

Superman (2025) ||Krypto coming in clutch was awesome and I love that it made sense too. Lex never spent any time studying the dog so he gets outplayed by his own ignorance. Not to mention, Ultraman, despite his strengths, is nothing withou Lex's commands so we get this immensely satisfying one-sided beatdown where Superman just fucking destroys Ultraman and I love it. That's what I wanted from a Superman solo movie man, high stakes (not too high), a hero being demoralized and kinda loses only to get this biggest comeback ever but he gets redeemed and he gets the girl. APPARENTLY, THAT WAS REALLY FUCKING HARD FOR ZACK. Superman spinning around with the heat vision against the Raptors was very fun. Reminded me of how he can spin that fast and does that shit in the cartoons and older movies. The part where Ultraman dislocates his arm was crazy but holy fuck, Superman pops it back in? Then he just fucking lifts Ultraman and we get this really cool shot of a turn with the camera and the movement where he just fucking shoves Ultraman into a flying bus that gets sucked up in a black hole. Incredible. I think he pops it back in for real afterwards? Idk but the movie was fucking hyping me up the entire fight, I love that it ends as soon as he repairs his arm and the setup to his response to Mr. Terrific telling him to stop messing around is perfect.||

Superman (2025) ||At the end of the day, I think what really sets this movie apart from all other ones is that this movie has heart to it. The cast and characters feel alive and like they want to be here. Superman calling himself human and saying that he gets scared, makes tons of mistakes, but still tries to do his best and even going so far as to tell Lex that THAT is his greatest strength is the best fucking speech and message I've EVER heard from a superhero. It felt "exactly" like how Superman should feel to everyone and I think that's why it resonates so strongly. It encompasses everything we know about our favorite boy in blue and it exemplifies why we should look up to him. Because yeah, he's different, he's strong, and he's kind but he's not perfect, he's not selfish, and he wants to save people and that's really all that matters. Krypto beating Lex's ass surprised me but goddamn, was that satisfying to watch. "I AM GODDAMN, MR. TERRIFIC!" is definitely I'll be remembering for a long time. The Superman and Lois Lane kiss is hella earned at the end of this movie and I like that Jimmy and Eve seem like they may actually be a thing moving forward with this franchise which I'd be curious to see play out, haha. I want to see more of the Justice Gang too so I'm excited for that. I liked Supergirl's appearance here and I only remember her from the cartoon so I'm interested, she seems like she'll be fun to watch (My parents are misogynistic and obsessively judge books by their covers like the pedantic religious freaks they are but all is good). The last scene in this movie made me cry and I really liked how it flips the whole Jor-El message on its head. Superman puts his Earth parents first before his Kryptonian parents because they are the ones that actually raised him and he's here to protect and care and save us. And that's why that whole fucking subversion works. It's not meant to insult people that are used to the original Jor-El sending Kal-El to be a savior story, it's meant to recontextualize it and paint it in a different way where Superman took something about his past that he was and he used it a better way anyways. He swapped his dead parents for the ones he still has and like Lois said, it's beautiful that he thinks that and people that criticize this movie for that are, if anything, acting like a bunch of Lex Luthors who didn't get the point about "being human." Fucking sociopathic subhumans.||

Man of Steel, BvS: DoJ, and Justice League ||Also, what the fuck was the casting during these movies? Lol. Am I crazy for thinking that Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Jesse Eisenberg, were all terrible for their characters? I stg, people have been mindraped by these movies because fucking none of them are good and even if you do like the casting, the scripts and the acting is sooo fucking bad. Battle Cry of Freedom ||Interesting that this book emphasizes focus on the other division commanders, not just Meade and the famous army commanders, Robert and Grant, I really appreciate the author being able to cite all these sources too. Excited to keep reading and see how Grant and Meade characterized their battles in their memoirs.||

#

Battle Cry of Freedom ||Interestingly enough, James touches on how difficult it was for Lincoln to even navigate policy during this era because even his own party wasn't necessarily fighting the Civil War to even free the slaves. It was something he had considered but worried not entirely feasible given the worldviews. Not every Union soldier was fighting to free the slaves but rather, focus on the primary goal of keeping the Union unified. This is funny to me because even back in high school, I never realized there was a particular mental and background battle going on while the real battle ensued. Disregarding the landscape and its complications (I imagine this book like many other Civil War era books I've read) will describe how ports, supply lines, and particularly important the Mississippi River was to both sides.||

#

Battle Cry of Freedom Ch 1 ||I've read a decent amount of this book already but looking back, it's incredible how much the USA grew so rapidly during these times. The cotton gin really was like the magnum opus that supported so much of the South's production. And with class inequality growing as more and more people relied on factory rather than specialized handicraft/craftsmanship, you can understand why the South would've refused to bend the knee when it came to slavery. Although, slavery was arguably on the way out by the time the Civil War begins, I really like how this book and a bunch of others will explain the deeper contexts and understandings behind the North and the South. Not every Union soldier fought to free the slaves and not every Confederate soldier fought to keep the slaves. Like most of history, it was complicated.||

But in reality, trading and adaptability seem like the biggest factors in shaping how the US economy from its several depressions during the 1850s. See but I wonder if James here will go into it but my understanding is that the Union risked a fuckton of capital by setting off the South but since they were already pining on the whole slavery thing, I'm wondering if Lincoln was just forced to act since he must've considered all this. Or did South Carolina not give him any time when they seceded? We never went over this when I was in high school so I appreciate the detail.||

Battle Cry of Freedom Ch 1 ||"Schools were 'the grand agent for the development and augmentation of national resources,' wrote Horace Mann in 1848, 'more powerful in the production and gainful employment of the total wealth of a country than all the other things mentioned in the books of the political economists.' Textile magnate Abbott Lawrence advised a Virginia friend who wanted his state to emulate New England's industrial progress that 'you cannot expect to develop your resources without a general system of popular education; it is the lever to all permanent improvement.' 'Intelligent laborers,' added another Yankee businessman in 1853 as if in echo of British visitors, 'can add much more to the capital employed in a business than those who are ignorant.'" Crazy how even back then, people were able to understand and realize the true value of education and the fact that Americans were seemingly ahead of the curve on that compared to the rest of the world is pretty remarkable.||
