I dont need you to subtitle (cape fluttering) etc

they don't use subtitles, they use the closed captions that are meant for the hard of hearing specifically. So ALL sounds are depicted

and often times they leave out words or change the structure of a sentence a character speaks

or lag behind, or show up early, etc

The Dark Knight/Long Halloween ||this city doesn't feel at all like Gotham tho lmao. And I don't really like Harvey's characterization as much as his Long Halloween counterpart. Him directing his anger at Gordon and Gordon's family feels wrong. Him directing all his anger at the mob and then turning himself in was kinda badass in Long Halloween||

||Don't really care for Rachel or her role at all either. Joker carries this film. I liked pre Two-Face harvey. I wish Joker didn't have to talk him into turning. ||

Feels really large scale compared to what Batman probably should be? Dark Knight actually did this much better. It is a bit of a weird escalation||

Fantastic 4 ||It was good. Better than Thunderbolts, worse than Superman. Parts felt a bit rushed, primarily the beginning montage into the immediate threat, and then after returning from space. Felt like the comedy was a lot more reserved than in Thunderbolts which allowed for scenes to breathe more, but the "its clobbering time" was definitely the usual MCU humor stuff. I like Johnny ||

Fantastic four ||hes right that explaining the origin would be bad but with how aesthetically pleasing everything was I really would have liked for them to have more non hero moments. Just hanging around the city doing shit or more human moments that get to use the setting more. With the exception of 1 scene with the thing walking around the city talking to people, everything was superhero shit. They went from major plot development to major plot development. The movie imo shouldve been 20-30 minutes longer with more moments interspersed. I was able to believe the thing found the city inhabitants to be family, but sue’s speech falls flat when we pretty much dont see her interact with anyone||

If you remove the context that its batman, the plot developments arent horrible either. At least for the first half of the movie. But when you think of it in the context of it being batman it really does suck. Like, am I meant to believe that all it took was immortalizing dent to stop gotham’s crime and create peace to such a degree that gordon is considering retiring? So the only gotham citizens that become batman villains are joker, scarecrow, and kind of catwoman in the entire 10 years this universe ran for? At least explain what the dent act actually IS. Its just a buzzword in this movie without actually explaining how its keeping villains off the street.||

Deadpool & wolverine - || yes and spiderman will make a bil and so will avengers. When i say they aren't able to take risks, I mean they aren't able to get to their other catalog of characters without selling nostalgia and that is their major money maker. There is a reason they brought back RDJ to play doom. They are not able to do a hard reset and introduce a new gen of heroes/ villains without incorporating the widest quadrant of fans. I think because, 1. they are overspending by continuously having to reshoot and 2. They churn out movies without finished scripts. I honestly thought Thunderbolts and F4 were the best they have done in years. ||

F4 / X-Men 97 - || of those two I can agree that F4 was the one that felt like something new, and it's the one I feel with better scheduling would of taken off. It probably still can, it's still early. However if the general public are still waiting on it to come to Disney + when you have one of your best villains in your catalog, then it still feels like the same. When I think about the best thing marvel has released that is literally the peak of story telling, I would say it has to be X-Men 97 even though that also suffers from nostalgia, it has greater writing but it is low stakes because of cost. ||

I think at this point we gotta admit there's no "fixing" the MCU with a solid movie or two

People just aren't interested in non-Avengers or Spiderman films from it anymore because it's oversaturated and got confusing

Marvel fans will flock to em but there's like 3 marvel movies a year it feels like and everyone just waits for them to come to Disney+

It’s a pretty damn well executed spy thriller that doesn’t ape from other spy films without its substance

The Batman ||I think its a phenomenal scene but its good they cut it. I like to think it actually happened but its just considered off screen now. What a cool way to introduce the joker. We get to see what he looks like in its entirety but only in small bits throughout the scene. Just like 1/5th of his face, the back of his head, sometimes blurred, sometimes clear. It really shows us how unsettled Batman is by the Joker. It also makes the final scene where him and the riddler talk to each other make more sense. The joker learned everything about the riddler through that scene. And it could also set up a potential justification for how the joker breaks out with a paperclip from the file or something.||

The Batman ending || yeah I like that final scene with the Riddler but this one explains the entire motivation, though I like the dynamic between Batman and Joker here ||

The Batman ||yeah thats why I think its good its cut for specifically The Batman. But I want to imagine its still a canon scene and thats why they released it a month later. ||

The Batman || sure, I don’t see deleted scenes as being part of the canon of the film, hence why they were deleted from being included in the narrative proper but this is a well executed scene in itself ||

The Batman || I think the only negative is in the context of the film, taking too much attention away from the immediate threat for the audience + laying it on too thick as to the intentions of the riddler for the audience.

But I think in the context of the events of the story, its perfect and I love the idea of the riddler screwing with batman so much that he'd resort to getting advice from joker here. Its well executed, informs both batman and the jokers characters as well as their dynamic, and provides more justification as to why joker reacts to riddler the way he does in the final scene||
