Superman (1978) ||Cute and charming. Haven't seen this since I was a kid. The minimal portrayal of Krypton is kinda cool because of how little we see of it. Reminded me of how a lot of old movie set designs were based on originality and more practical effects. I don't know how they did so many of the visuals so well for the time but it was pretty funny.||

||Christopher Reeve was a pretty good Superman but an even better Clark Kent. He really sells the role well and I bought every scene he was in. The whole bullet-catching moment was pretty hilarious. I plan on watching all of these movies with my parents in order to prepare myself to see the new one and I went into this expecting to be bored or not like it but I was thoroughly surprised. The way they made Lois always getting into trouble was comical but made for good laughs. I appreciated how the plot didn't feel stretched too much or like it was struggling to give us moments to breathe. I liked the slow moments (my dad didn't) where Superman is flying around with Lois. Lex is also kind of a spotlight because I didn't realize how funny his smack talk was. He just constantly shits on Otis and Eve and it's just too good, whoever wrote the dialogue knew what they were doing (No idea if that was Donner or not). Kudos to the intricate heists they committed. Having Eve bait some US army and navy dudes on the side of the road while haphazardly try to take over some missiles was just good fun. I especially appreciate how they made Lex in response to Superman actually confronting him. He's confident like how he should be and he has control of the situation. Dude is so prideful that he ends up being blind to how inhumane he can be towards his own and I love how earned Eve saving Supes from the Kryptonite is. I guess the only issue I would really have with this movie is how Superman has the ability to turn back time. There's some funny plot implications that I question there but it all works out in the end and the story gets away with it for being as charming as it is, so I'm not too bothered by it. Also, the train sequence where that random cop gets ran over reminded me of slapstick films from back then. Quite peak.||

@modern lichen Fantastic Four 2025 ||It was a very get in get out movie. It knew what it wanted to show us and it showed it to us without wasting time, but also without cutting corners tooooo much. I felt like by the time they got back in the rocket to address the central conflict of the movie, I knew who these specific iterations of these characters were well enough to care about them and enjoy their interactions with each other and the world. And the whole 60s, Neo-New York setting was on the nose. It was very endearing and fun. The actors did a good job, Pascal’s take on Richard’s as an antsy eyes all around super genius was fitting and convincing. Kirby and him had chemistry and I thought they were very cute together. Johnny’s casting I’m still not 100% on, but I enjoy the more modernized take on him. He wasn’t really like, a “womanizer”, he just wanted alien pussy. And I cannot blame him, who amongst us wouldn’t?? Ben needed more screen time but I enjoyed him a lot too. The beard thing was funny. The humor between him and Johnny didn’t feel overbearing like marvel movies humor usually does. I liked it a lot more than I thought I was going to.||

Superman II ||I think I like this one more than the first one simply because it has more funny and memorable scenes. The idea of Superman saving Lois in these fuckass scenarios is too funny. Seeing my mom and dad's reaction to the kid falling into Niagara Falls, the moving mattress in the hotel, and the moments with Zod and his gang interacting with some country bumpkins was fucking hilarious. I think what stands out with this one is how intricate the plot is. I really liked how Lex got out of prison and how he tried to manipulate the other Kryptonians against Superman. The part where they're talking to each other in the Oval Office was great. For the time, I actually think the action was pretty good. One thing that I did notice was that there was more of Jimmy in this one. I like when they emphasize Lois and Jimmy being hardcore about their journalism, so much so that it gets them in trouble or in silly situations just like in the previous movie. I think it adds to the charm and after rereading some of my favorite Superman comic books, I feel like that's something missing in a lot of modern superhero movies, they don't embrace some of the campier parts of their story. I actually noticed that my dad was getting annoyed with the amount of times of Superman had to save Lois and how much time the movie spends with the two. I didn't mind that but the idea of Superman giving up his powers just for her to me is... incredibly stupid. On one hand, it makes sense because Superman is a kind dude who has probably never really had close friends (at least in these films) beyond his parents, Lois, and Jimmy. On the other hand, I don't think even his parents would agree that the cons (not having powers) outweigh the pros (being with Lois) there. I think his mom, Lara, tells him something about that. But I suppose that was in part because Lois was on the verge of figuring out who he really was. That scene where he saves her normally without transforming into Superman was funny.||

Superman II ||Every moment with Lex or Zod onscreen was pure gold just because their interactions with everyday people is instantly comical. The amount of times people walk up to them ready to throw down only to get their asses handed to them was hilarious. The fucking scene with the cops LOL. I like the army fight scene. The trio actually had a bit of personality to them unlike the newer iteration of them... Zod was commanding and had funny lines, Ursa killing the snake and being ruthless was neat (I noticed she was more open to learning about Earth), and then Non was just an idiot who couldn't talk lol. I love the parts where they just shoot out their heat vision or tank bullets or blow high-wind kisses or bend missiles haha. Superman actually had a whole action set piece in the city with them where he essentially loses. That shit was interesting cause for the time, I'm sitting there thinking "Alright, now what the hell are they gonna do to make this work since it happened so long ago." To my surprise, they actually fling each other across the scene and fly lol. Like the White House scene already established that they had the capability of showing stuff similar to some spicy action but I was expecting some stale ass Star Wars lightsaber duels or something LOL. The fucking line where Lex goes, "Superman, thank god!" had me dying LMFAO. I guess he didn't think he could control them for that long but it's nice to know that even he is happy when Supes is reliable to save him from these situations. That punch he hit Non was too funny, motherfucker got flung across the city. I like that Zod exploits his weakness but Superman gets them back with a trick to take away their powers in the end.||

||I really like when heroes outsmart the villains when they know they can't beat them hand-to-hand, really adds to the character and shows how intuitive the writing could be. Especially because my dad and I had the same reaction to Superman giving up his powers, I feel like it kinda made up for that. Lois punching the hell out of Ursa was funny and there was that part where Superman used a mirror to reflect Zod's heat vision back at him. HE ALSO ACTUALLY FUCKING USED HIS FREEZE BREATH IN THIS MOVIE! I feel like that power never gets used or shown off enough. It was also sweet that the people of Metropolis were willing to actually try and fight the baddies, I appreciate it when movies acknowledge the citizens defending/supporting their heroes. Good stuff and I think I liked this one more than the first.||

Just watched Fantastic Four
|| it was great, i loved it more than i expected. From the action sequence to the characters to its cgi, it was wonderful. I never understood why Reed had to tell everyone about the Galactus negotiation and just try to assure everything will go well lol. my favourite has to be Johnny, Joseph Quinn did an amazing job with him even tho there wasnt a flame on.

Anyways after all that, the thing is, it rocks, it was heat and devouring epic .

this F4 movie works so well because its unburdened by the rest of the convoluted MCU continuity and allows the characters the breathing room to do their own thing, plus i am not a fan of the RDJ casting and what it implies with so many characters being in it in leading positions, it doesnt have the same buildup as infinity war to justify the size of the cast and what it requires to pull it off

Rick and Morty S1E1-S2E6 ||I've also been rewatching the show from the beginning and it's definitely pretty strong early on as well. S1 and 2 have been great. Ik it's gonna drop off at some point but for now I'm enjoying the early seasons a lot. Rick Potion #9, Close Rick-counters, Auto-Erotic Assimilation were all really good.||

||There's more I could name but overall the early seasons have a lot of great character moments while also being entertaining. They feel more episodic but also like every episode moves the characters forward even if the plot isn't important for the overall series.||

A show is different from a movie lol I even added the length. 7 hours and 40 minutes to tell multiple overarching stories with a cast of over 20+ characters. A lot of big names in Batman mythos like cmon. Are we being intentionally slow? These are two different formats.

I think a 2 hour game of thrones movie about a c list character would probably not hold up as well as a full season with multiple stories
