This is gonna save mcu icl
Movie night to watch the first 2 cuz i didnt💀
New Jurassic world who’s excited
Oh shi
I will watch these films
Only you
Bruh
Jurassic movie in big 2025
yes.
wtf
Should probably watch thunderbolts before the avengers movies
Idc enough
I want them to remake jurassic park but make it BOOK ACCURATE
in reality you should watch the entire MCU before the new movies but then again who has time
I remember watching all mcu movies before endgame
Same here
Good times
No but i am pretty sure thunderbolts is pretty important for the new avengers
Covid times… was forced to watch every one…
God help me if i ever try to go through post endgame movies and shows
Probably I haven’t seen it yet
I’ll watch on Disney plus when I care
New avengers?
Whenever the next avengers drops
MCU
MCU was good when Ultron dropped
It was alright
Oh it was great fun when i wasn't paying attention to it
I look up and see some bonkers shit happening with no context
Im like yeah this a good film
😭
As long as u dont pay attention
What
This is the optimal way to experience brand new world
||Samuel Sterns’ reveal was cool I’ll admit, I liked that part|| brave new world
Hell yeah!
Because if u pay attention
Wait who
||creepy brain guy|| brave new world
Sorta remember that
😭
You still gotta tag the movie
sorry
Mistborn 1 is COMPLETE @sage remnant @copper phoenix
Hey
thoughts?
Loved it. 8.5/10
More peak ahead
Harry Potter show
he got the hater energy in him
movies were good when they lasted, so many memories watching the last 2 parts in theatres years ago.
mf jus hating is that it. WEAK.
not really
This new project has 0 reasons to exist
other than studio trying what worked and milking it
Harry Potter in itself is a very weak fantasy story
It got a great job at introducing people to fantasy, and did some slightly new works as well, but tons of better story have been made already
that's like why I said to not even bother with this bs
just give us the next fantastic Beasts movie or sum
tv shows for everything is wasteful
even if we just take Reddit's top fantasy series list, there's 8 not adapted series ranked higher than HP
lmao this guy
Gimme Mistborn movie
or Stormlight TV series
We are finally getting a First Law adaptation
so atleast that's good
Rebecca Ferguson in the lead role
wild how pisskiller is still in that top list
it's 2023 list
though it might probably still be lol
Book 1 is still one of the best magical academy book
you'd know it
it's good but I dont know many magical academy slops to judge
surely there are better stuff out there
yeah fair
what is the problem
your taste
asked
Also sad that 4 series in this list have gone so many steps for adaptation close to being made and still failed lol
Malazan, GBS, Mistborn, Stormlight
Green Bone Saga can be good. It's Urban fantasy but like set in fantasy Hongkong and set around gang wars and shit
They could just do Mistborn TFE as a movie
can't see Stormlight as anything other than animated
animation is getting too niche nowadays
TWOK || https://tenor.com/view/anime-fight-shardblade-assassin-in-white-szeth-son-son-vallano-stormlight-archive-gif-5539898782518010624 ||
Atleast we got great fan animation
everything must be live action

mfs y'all do realize they are going to go ahead with that HBO series right, jus saying those funds could be directed elsewhere WITHIN the same franchise
we will never get a fantastic beasts movie because its a failure of a franchise
that's how it is
Stormlight above Tolkien
nah nah nah nah nah
man who has only read Tolkien
JRR >>>>
dw Wanze the list is probably a lot different now
You couldn’t pay me to read fantasy
Malazan is the current community's fav there
harry potter should be replaced by earthsea or farseer
HBO, Warner Bros wanna make monkey with JKR okay do it, but why another tv series slop, mfs wildin on this tv series bs .. netflix and chill or whatever that mfuthafuckin bs was.
what happened to good old cinema
bro what are you saying
But I’ve read earthsea and lotr
I would just respect your taste
and say I disagree

for adaptation?
or in that list
on that list
It's just a list of what community voted lol
r/fantasy is not an arbiter of taste either so i'm chilling knowing there are better series
harry potter might have one of the poorest built and reinforced worlds
tv series adaptation of books makes more sense than movie adaptations, considering runtime
otherwise you need to cut out a lot to squeeze it into a movie, and it becomes a different product
Considering runtime yes, but the alternate is to have movie installments that worked out pretty well too (big profits there as well). They wanna monetize (advert) more and lower budgets imo, many studios pushing into this tv format.
you can't really do that cause there would be no appropriate climax for a movie. You'd be left with half a movie
or well, realistically, 1/3rd of a movie probably
Harry Potter books are written as entire, complete books start to finish for example
A tv show can cover 1 book per season
splitting that into 3 movies doesnt have the same effect
that's the problem with the hobbit films
they split a small children's book into 3 epic films
that tanked everything for those films
(Im not saying this adaptation will be good btw Im just defending tv show adaptations of books conceptually regardless of if the production team pulls it off or not)
oh yes like going part by part, movies do need that climax to drive them to profitability and be box office hit types. But for a series and it's ratings that holds true but there is more runtime for that setup ig .. 10 episodes at 40 mins vs a 2-3 hr movie.
the initial plan was to make 2 movies based on the book, which would've been a better plan, depending on the length of each film
Initial Harry Potter books were the length of a movie, no? Atleast could be made into one without substantial amount being cut
it's only the later ones which required a show for proper adaptation
literally just a haikyuu season 1-4 vs haikyuu movie situation, without mentioning any details
A 10-12 haikyuu season usually covers like 45~ chapters. Thats 4~ hours worth of content at perfect pacing.
The movie is an hour and a half and as a result an entire chapter can get adapted in a single minute
something being cut is still something being cut, ultimately
even if its only "more minor" scenes
a relatively short length percy jackson book was adapted into a full season of TV
and they're continuing with the same season per book model
and its working
for the entire series
TV show adaptations for certain books can be nice ngl, esp if there is only enough to turn it into a movie, ig depends on the books in question, with each HP book there was enough to like push it into a movie despite the cuts and everything and have that punchline to VS contrast this to GRRM - GOT that would not have been good in movie format, they did it way better by turning it into a TV series of 73 episodes lol, and each season still does not necessarily have a climax to have that hit, BUT the episodes in themselves fared pretty well.
all of the books are relatively on the shorter side on page count
I think Lightning Thief was like around double of Philospher's stone?
u shillin Haikyuu
I can sense it but yeah, seasons betta there.
I have forgotten the length of those books
Haikyuu is a good example for that case
Have you no joy
Have you no whimsy
No magic, no elves, no epic quest?, How sad your bookshelf must be dressed.
W for no other reason than this means you don't have to read Brandon Shamderson
does anyone have any book recommendations?
There is a list in pins
Compiled from users here
If you have any specific fantasy or scifi req, I can help with a recommendation
yeah scifi
Murderbot Diaries is a series of Slice of life comedy scifi with one of the best main characters I have read in recent memory
Psalm for the Wild Built is a queernormal slice of life scifi set in a solarpunk world.
You could try Philip K Dick's Books for classic Scifi. A Scanner Darkly would be my suggestion.
Blake Crouch writes super fun Scifi thrillers. Like perfect one sitting reads with fun concept to steer the plot along. Shouldn't really expect much deeper characters (tho they are relateable) and complex philosophical debates. My suggestion would be Recursion and Dark Matter.
one good recc is Frank herbert - DUNE.
thanks🙏
Parable of The Sower is a social scifi set in 2024 (written in 1990s) about a world affected by climate change. Some insanely accurate predictions. A really good philosophical scifi
John Scalzi is another author who writes fun schlocky scifi

Its fucked up that Earthsea doesnt have a good adaptation
Mid
Goro Miyazaki's movie
Then I would never know
So mid I dropped like less than 100 Pages in
No way that starting prologue is so good
|| " i would have lived in peace. But my enemies brought me war " || red rising start
U telling me thats not hard ?
It's good. I grew disinterested the more I read it, and I usually like more worldbuildin in my stories than what it gave
Plus I didn't vibe with the narration and prose
Thats fair also the first book is a VERY bad representation of the series
I am not picky at those beyond just vibing
|| you know theres only one pov through thr first three books ?|| red rising
|| Vines adjusting according to her thoughts
So Connection due to Luhel Bond at play. I wonder how this looks in Cognitive Realm || Tress/Cosmere general concepts
Tress || Oh god I'd kill for Tress controlling vines and absorbing all the rain drops and like usingb vines like her hundred arms ||
But Brandon's a hack so
@sand cypress
Wait wait. He might actually do it
Tress/RoW
|| The trials at Midnight Sea seems like ones perfect for the spores. Idk about Midnight essence creatures, but she's could use vines to capture the metal knights and again use vines to scale the tower (Indestructable metal? A GodMetal like Raysium?) ||
Ye
Probably not for u then tbh because i am a huge fan and even i dont particularly like the style of the narration of the first three books
There's just a lot of things to read to read a scifi battle shounen that I wasn't liking mirio
I have so much of Cosmere to shit on !
Its not a battle shounen 🙏
Thats the first book only
Its actually a bit similar to tsa in scope after the first book
Regardless lol
I might get to it some time later
My sister loves the series
But she is also a Dresden fan so....
Good taste
I tried the first two books ....
Interesting thoughts
Liking Dresden sadly invalidates any taste mirio
Those first two books are colleen hoover level slop

Might finish it today Azua since there's no cricket today
I will probably try it again i heard it gets good at 3
Steelheart by Brandon is even worse
Steelheart /Dresden || The MC of Steelheart would make Dresden seem feminist ||
Lmao
Its not just dresden, the prose, the plot, the humor everything was just really really mid.
And Harry Dresden is like High school DxD mc level of horny there
Do it
Wtf you read steelheart? That's like bottom tier Sanderson
It's like among my lowest rated books
1/10
Surprised you even tried it
Dude's fav series of all time is Dresden
😭
I think I has read MHA just before it
And was in a superhero mood
So Superhero and author of Stormlight, seemed a great combo
If only...
Not even hiding it atp
Rothfuss is a fraud
George R. R. Martin addresses the criticism he has faced, the untrue perception of how he spends his time, and outrage regarding ‘THE WINDS OF WINTER’ in new blog post:
︀︀
︀︀“Some of you will just be pissed off by this, as you are by everything I announce here that is not about Westeros or THE WINDS OF WINTER. You have given up on me, or on the book. I will never finish WINDS, If I do, I will never finish A DREAM OF SPRING. If I do, it won’t be any good. I ought to get some other writer to pinch hit for me… I am going to die soon anyway, because I am so old. I lost all interest in A Song of Ice and Fire decades ago. I don’t give a shit about writing any longer, I just sit around and spend my money.
︀︀
︀︀I edit the Wild Cards books too, but you hate Wild Cards. You may hate everything else I have ever written, the Hugo-winners and Hugo-losers, “A Song for Lya” and DYING OF THE LIGHT, “Sandkings” and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, “Thi…
wut
So a nothing buger
grrm rant continued ... ||BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, “This Tower of Ashes” and “The Stone City,” OLD MARS and OLD VENUS and ROGUES and WARRIORS and DANGEROUS WOMEN and all the other anthologies I edited with my friend Gardner Dozois, You don’t care about any of those, I know. You don’t care about anything but WINDS OF WINTER. You’ve told me so often enough).
Thing is, I do care about them.
And I care about Westeros and WINDS as well. The Starks and Lannisters and Targaryens, Tyrion and Asha, Dany and Daenerys, the dragons and the direwolves, I care about them all. More than you can ever imagine.
I loved “A Dozen Tough Jobs” the first time I read it, ages ago. I loved Howard too. It saddens me that he did not live long enough to see the film; I hope we do him justice. How can we not? Hercules, Howard, Joe, Lion Forge… I wish you all could share my excitement at the prospect of this movie.||
I'll believe he cares about it once he either releases the damn book or let another author take over after him
yeah, mf like I only care abt the stuff I care abt
nvm what the fandom wants nvm what y'all want
I believe he cares. I don’t believe there’ll ever be another asoiaf novel that releases traditionally, of GRRM’s own accord.
Series likely finishes posthumously
did he state he won't allow anyone to finish his books after he dies
thats the rumor I see floating around but I can't really find a source
but I can totally see that happening
i find it wholesome that he cares and he's trying, idk about you all and i'm seeing a surprising lack of empathy for a man of his age trying to write something that's expected for so many years, sincerely trying to give fans something he thinks they will like and seeing people not like him or insult him, he has more than made up for his work and now i dont hold him as being irresponsible
he deeply cares for his work and that's enough, the series can be incomplete, i dont mind it
on a similar vein, insult patrick rothfuss, he's a worse case
george sincerely at least is working and doing shit creatively
what the fuck is rothfuss doing
we know george is constantly engaged and busy with stuff
I forgot to say i finished farenheit 451 yesterday and it was really good :D
He doesn’t want someone to pick it up if he dies
I think that might be misnformation
I never really found any source for that
Let me see if i can find it again
one I found it about "while he's alive"
I found another one but its from 2003 surely he might have changed mind since then
Whether it finishes or not, I don’t see a future where the material he does have done isn’t released
But I’d prefer it to be left alone if that’s what George wants
I swear there was an interview where he said something along the lines of “if i go the world goes with me but there will probably be some greedy grandchild down the line who who will ignore my wishes”
I just cant find it
Essentially
Its gonna drive me crazy but i dont think i can find it
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, thats it
I'll believe his intentions when I see it
but I aint gonna jump and defend him
bros filthy rich he can hire a pr firm to do that for him
grrm seeing eveyrone shit on him
Idk i at least empathize for him he’s allowed to write other stuff
Isn’t Sanderson taking a 10 year break from stormlight or smth
A mere ten years
stormlight aint even his main series like asoiaf
sure its the most successful one but the cosmere project started long ago
What defines someones main series
Thats what i think of when i think sanderson and i havent read the dudes books
the ones that are no spin offs
mistborn and stormlight are his main series i'd say
Storm lighting became ass
yes mistborn is just as important
and hes not taking a break from that
also I dont even think its 10 year break from stormlight let me check again
10 years is fucking wild
its like 7 i think
just kill me
Okay well looking it up elantris was the start of the cosmere so is that his main series lol
And everything else is a spin off of that
are familiar with the concept of spin off
anyway whats this argument about, sanderson is a prolific author who always delivered books on a timely manner
if he said its 10 years then its 10 years
I just mean he’s writing other books in the mean time and no one is giving him shit
yes because all of his other books are just as in important as stormlight
especially mistborn
I think thats glaze bro
I said important
not good
read
also you don't see him crying and bitching on blog posts about his fandom
2031 is crazy
elantris 2 better be damn worth it
I always liked the concept but the elantris is held back by awful writing
elantris 2 ||its gonna be a 300 year time jump apparently from elantris 1||
also goddamn it brandon where is the warbreaker sequel in this list
yea actually where is it

|| After garbage that was that was rhythm of war he set up alot problems for the main cast which got solve quickly and with no consequences to the main characters don’t let me get start with shallan arc || rhythm of sleep
gonna release 2032 at best
yea 4 and 5 fell off 😔
5 is the best in the series
they still got the same highs but they have lowest lows
4 was still great but I had tons of issue
@sand cypress Tress ch 48 is now my fav chapter in Tress
I should read drive again heard it good
Starting dune
Peak
Havw an 8 hour drive today
audiobook wombat?
Hope you like like it
nice Wombat
My gf got me the first three after we watched the movies
then read it mf
Ill try to finish malazan this year
you still haven't?????
no
I don’t play games that much anymore
Do you not love roblox anymore
Only singe players
Im so lazy im at the point I'd rather watch other people play
Your id is justiceforsanji 😭😭😭 this made my heart sink!!
Sanji my fav character but I’m super early in the series. Hope he’s okay 😭😭😭😭😔😔😔😔
just dont watch the anime
Stop…
Just dint watch anime general
Impossible 😔
Where can i talk about tokosautu
Man's writing book 2 after 23 years
and people are harsh on George
You should see glass mask author
Sando's a hack fr

Nah I have seen people be spice
youre the only one here who still hasnt read warbreaker
did you finish the lost metal btw spice
this is a tragedy
I'll probably finish it before him

(I won't)
its just
Guys is tokosatu chat here
it is roblox
we're gonna be old and dying before you even get to the 2nd book of mistborn
I just finshed stormlight and now 2 of my favorite series going on long breaks
but I doubt you will find people who have watched
feels bad
??????
I literally am gonna start so soon
gonna read it alongside my gf 😎
I have watched a couple of kamen rider and Garo, roblox
Imo if reading a book just read it by arcs
Garo is so peak
power rangers >>>>
shit not working
bad internet
\smh
also @shrewd sigil got another minor MB spoiler from Tress tho Idk what that means lol
read Black Company
we are getting a new book this year
is that slop
I like stormlight more
atleast I haven't read them and the long break for Stormlight affects me more
they should give me a chapter every week
just read new series smh
why do breaks exist
yeah tress has a alot of references to era 1-2+ ive heard
shouldnt be anything too bad tho
yumi has the same type of references but its for stormlight so you should be fine there
Finally recognizing good writing I see
Goro is the only man on earth who read all of stomlight, steelheart, and now tress without reading mistborn first
mistborn is essential
It is the foundation of the cosmere even more so than Stormlight tbh
Not my fault Brandon butchered his writing
And hey you had agreed with my criticism
And it was just that it wasn't something you cared for much
diabolical
2031 + 20-25 years, stormlight aint finishing till i am in my 40s
LOTR The Silmarillion/Morgoth’s Ring: ||Finrod Felagund is such a beautifully written character. Galadriel had some badass siblings.||
Thunderbolts is alr saving it
Thunderbolts is honestly peak, and it's quite important
my nostalgia loves the fuck out of this movie
I had the vhs tape of it
OK, you were right. However, the villain's acting is great.
@shrewd sigil lost metal chp 40 / wind and truth || marasi finally met kelsier
also lmao at the ghostbloods like casually revealing they can mass produce aluminum and scadrial will soon do that too (kinda fits the "timeframe" of 19th century discoveries thanks to eletricitity) and then marasi pointing out how thats gonna flip the tables on allomancers reminds of the ending of wat where stormlight was gone. I hope this happens in mistborn it would be a cool development ||
bruh
it's alright I'll probably forget that by the time I get around to reading w&t
procrastinated for 6 months
now I'm in the start of rereading way of kings
lmao
why
man I love when a story has a world that has technological leaps while we're reading even tho its mixed with magic and shit still feels great
gotta be one of my favorite tropes in fiction
along with the "group of named criminals chasing the protagonist"
mgs does that every single game and its peak every time
it's been a year now since I've read stormlight and my memory is dogshit so I've forgotten quite alot
real asf
man I love era 2
we're maybe getting era 4 ||cyberpunk era|| in the middle of stormlight 6-10 aswell
1994 Live Action Street Fighter was funny
Felt like a cheaper 90s MCU movie
SF6 should add Sawada
it was peak
whats not to love, coked up van damme, kylie minogue, raul julia pouring his heart out
ming na wen too sorry for forgetting the queen
its just cinema
What a wonderful Tuesday it was
Street fighter ||I'm still mad they made zangief and dee Jay villains||
Street Fighter ||At least Gief switches at the end||
kierkagaard's two ages literary review ||"An age that is revolutionary but also reflecting and devoid of passion changes the expression of power into a dialectical tour de force: it lets everything remain but subtly drains the meaning out of it; rather than culminating in an uprising, it exhausts the inner actuality of relations in a tension of reflection30 that lets everything remain and yet has transformed the whole of existence into an equivocation that in its facticity is—while entirely privately [privatissime] a dialectical fraud interpolates a secret way of reading—that it is not."||
are you quoting someone else's review?
oh you're quoting the text itself
it's just called that lol
are you religious now, zfg
need new Netflix show to watch.. finished Forever, it was good but needed to be much longer
yeah its a transformative review itself. and as to whether im religious, more so now rather than earlier. i dont like categorizing myself as i find that limiting, so i try to branch out in as many direction as i can while taking what i can from each before culminating them all into my final worldview
have you ever read deleuze
no i havent. i havent read much
Tales of Suspense #89 (Iron Man)
wowww you added western series to the list too?
obviously this is your own journey and choice but imo try not to spend too much time on kierkagaard while you still have motivation to read philosophy. for most people it comes and goes, especially when you're younger and makes you feel alienated from your immediate peers (unless you seek out others who read philosophy which is certainly difficult outside of a larger college or something along those lines), and the longer people stick with absurdists/existentialists, the less they desire to challenge those beliefs or incorporate a meaningful political critique of those thoughts (instead they drift towards academics like deleuze or heidegger and justify their worldview in reverse). I recommend you check out:
satre's critique of dialectical reason:
https://files.libcom.org/files/jean-paul-sartre-critique-of-dialectical-reason-volume-1.compressed.pdf
fanon's the wretched of the earth:
https://monoskop.org/images/6/6b/Fanon_Frantz_The_Wretched_of_the_Earth_1963.pdf
feel free to throw these recommendations out the window or bury them until you hear about them from somebody else, i think it's difficult to read stuff like this that you aren't fully engaged with from the beginning so it's better to sort of take it at your own pace
A loooong time ago lol
thanks man. ill read those next
i will say my fav phil book so far is critique of pure reason
im only like 60% through tho
let a friend of mine borrow it

Anyone read Stephen Graham Jone's The only good indian?
Im a 3rd of the way through it right now and its great
Picked it up because he's very likley to be the writer for Ultimate hawkeye one shot coming out in like, september

Abercrombie is so good
David my king you tasted exquisite
Gonna either watch Ted lasso, the studio, or trigun on the plane
Or I’ll rewatch peacemaker
Enjoy Trigun
My decision made easy 🫡
You are welcome pasto
I think I have the first like 15 episodes downloaded
Doubt my attention span will let me finish even 3 episodes on this flight at least but still
Watch The Studio
It’s awesome
I’ll prolly start w trigun maybe 1-3 eps I’d lucky then an ep or 2 of Ted lasso n binge the studio
4 hour flight n I doubt I’ll sleep so I can get some good watching in
also @sand cypress something occurred to me
Tress Part 5 end || Xixis literally gave Crow a Subscription based treatment ||
Tress Part 5 end || Also feels like a Brandon Cosmere cop out that I would hate
Xixis telling Tress he can hinder the development of the world. I hope its just Xixis lying cuz like it eliminates so many interesting possiblilities ||
I thought this one was weaker than book 1
MB has so many mixed reactios than Stormlight
A lot people have different books as fav ones
And different as least fav one
Idk i usually see woa cited as the worst in the trilogy

What is this timeline
Tears
Definitely not something anyone should purchase. I’m going to buy all of the stock to spare everyone else. We’re fighting back against degeneracy in 2025
Lmao
Wait she's onto something
She's getting online degenerates who never bathe to bath
Has to be satire
Bills cant be that high
About time
it isn't 😭
its not satire
We have lost the plot
sydney sweeney is playing it exactly how it benefits here
5000 limited edition men's bars of soap along with a certificate saying that it's her bathwater
We believe her
Get that bag girl is my opinion
whole certificate is crazy
She's great for making money off of it lol
True
It's just gonna be some random aroma soap anyway lol
dont judge the supplier, judge the demand 🔥
Remember the streamer who was selling her bath water and then got into legal trouble when a fan did a test on the container he received and there were no traces of her DNA
LMAOOO
ewww lmao what
i think i did hear smth abt that a while back
Pathetic on both sides tbh
nah, let her get that money if people are willing to buy that shit
Buying some for glex
god I have the perfect gif react for that, but I won't use it
I’m really surprised thunderbolts is the 2nd worst performing mcu movie i feel like I saw a lot of talk of it online and good word of mouth
It just seems weird
Thunderbolts end ||especially if these guys are supposed to be the new avengers lmfao||
Too much bad will and no draw for a general audience I guess
You mean by money
Isn’t it reviewed really well
Random people dont care about John Walker and Sentry and Yelena unless they watch it
Movie comes off as unwatchable for most people cuz it's an ensemble of c list characters involved in the tv shows
Too much baggage
Most Marvel fans just go out to see the big things like avengers and Spider-Man
Yeah
yea the superhero saturation is crazy
aint nobody got time to watch an entire movie about fartmaster or squirrel man
its been so long since the gamergirl bathwater I was wondering why didn't anyone else try the same
If marvel released a movie called Fartmaster and Squirrel Man and it actually looked self serious id go out to see that one
@sand cypress finished Tress
and?
Is it blasphemous to say i liked star wars episode 1 more than a new hope
yes, but to each their own
Need to watch Bring Her Back
Huh??? It is??? That’s so insane , it’s the better marvel movie in a long while
That bar may not be high but it’s definitely not bad in the least bit
Yeah, kind of
my friend was trying to describe the movie to me the other day and I had never heard of it. The friend described it as, "The sidekicks of marvel movie"
The original Star Wars movies are better movies, but the prequels give me more to think about and chew on and also - love it or hate it - have such a unique visual identity
Revenge of the Sith is unfortunately the worst one because Lucas listened to his haters and we get less Anakin & Padme so that Yoda can go to the woods
marvel brand is at an all time low. even good movies are flopping
f4 gon flop too
thunderbolts is apparently their best movie in yrs going off reviews , yet its worst performing
Thunderbolts was soooo good
I wouldn't say its flopping, but its coasting
its like a manga at this point.. just going on and on, no real highs or lows, just content
a very high budget and high earning series of content
oh it looks like thunderbolts will be losing money despite a 350M world wide gross... this will be MCU's final phase
The projected budget was 500 mil
Godzilla vs Kong kinda underwhelmed me
Expected more from that
Much bigger fan of both the original Showa era one and King of the Monsters whether I look at it as a psuedo remake or a sequel
every movie after king of monsters in the new monsterverse franchise gets more boring
its a very good show
Y’all, a musical version of Silence of the Lambs exists
This might be my most controversial placement on this list yet lmao, really did like Son of Godzilla a lot more than this
Maybe I would have liked it more if I saw it in IMAX
(I still need to rewatch and reevaluate Skull Island I saw that in theaters expecting a King Kong remake)
Need to see this
Wow the half of this season I've watched has been bad
(I'm jumping around to random episodes as I always do, not strictly commenting on episodes 1-5. Also Netflix apparently changed the order within a week after release so who even cares lol)
why you be hoppin around fella
It's an anthology series who cares
I go off whims
Finally found a good episode btw Robert Valley carrying this season the same way he carried Season 1
Okay done
The last three episodes I watched were coincidentally all the seasons best lmao
Still a bit of a dud tho, majority was among the worst episodes of the whole series and none of its handful of stronger episodes really hit like Zima Blue or Jibaro or even The Witness
I liked 400 Boys the most, wish it got an additional 3 minutes or something to really round itself out
I’m dropping the Mission Impossible movies. Upon reflection, they’ve done little to entertain and engage me.
I’ll be seeing Life of Pi next
You don't like it?
I think its boring
I haven't watched it after 2013-14 (when it released) and it was fun
Perfectly average, Ang Lee's earlier work is so much more appealing to me
Okay now for Tress sanderlanche opinions/takes
Tress end || The sudden change to "Laptop" was nice. I had already figured out it was LCD displays or something adjacent in the tower/spaceship. It being a spaceship took me time to catch on to. I was still unsure until Riina flew away in it.
I LOVED like deconstruction? of the traditional fairy tale esque elements to use modern-ish or magitech version for it. Like the whole "Seeing everything sphere" being her hacking the tablets. That was neat. Charlie being Huck was great. I only realized it one page before the reveal raaahhhhhhh. Riina acting the part of traditional Evil Sorceress with the spells and shit was funni. Crow's Song arriving to save her was great, and the whole thing of she doesn't feel bad about being saved because that just means she has impacted their life enough to have them save her was great.
Main thing I liked was that how it is described in mystical/archaic terms about the futuristic tech. That really makes it fun to read, and not something that can be done well in a movie form or a visual form.
FORT IS THE MVPPPPP. That was great. He nailed the exchange lol. That was super good. I am repeating myself but idc. That was super good. The "Here try on these spectacles" being most impactful thing to Ann and that exchange was great. Salay IS THE MVPPP. The whole way of her controlling the sea was super good. Human Ingenuity and skill >>>>>>> Investitureeeee. Laggart leading Ann to fire the cannons was GREAT. But even better was the Hoid's narration of how "If all everyone ever expects you to do is miss, Missing is all you would do" really hit hard. I think the best part of the book is always one of these two: Hoid's whimsical narration when it really feels like it's Hoid (Sando couldn't maintain the narration properly for me everytime) and when his tone changes to a more earnest/somber/serious (well every sincere one) and he speaks something. Him telling story of Doug that died, for example.||
|| The Hero chapter was great. Knight in Shining Armor story and Tress about being saved part. The "Everything that comes before" Super good. And well time to blame Hoid. All this occurred just for him collecting Pokemons. I am probably wrong, but it's always good to blame Hoid. Atleast Tress showed him his place. "Cabin boy, Zap him or smth" :letsgooo: Hoid changing the parameters to what it became was nice. The whole epilogue and the ending three sentences were SUPER good. Except for this mf Hoid not sharing the poem. I had to suffer through Riina's terrible verses. Why no poem for me you Sanderson self insert. Also Awwww Charlie putting his head on her shoulder while wrapping his arms around her and Tress putting her hands against his. So yeah the ending sentences was super good.||
Time for well ISSUES.
|| I don't really have much in the Sanderlanche. It's just that the rest of the book wasn't as good for the Sanderlanche to have the type of impact that it could have had. It's still a super great Sanderlanche, but at the moments where I would have cried a decent amount of tears, I just cried very little lol .
Well I do have issues tho. Especially like I can't believe the Sorceress was distracted enough for Tress to have like a 4-5 minutes long conversation lol. It doesn't make sense. That took me out of the story so many times because I had to fit in what she might do for being distracted for that long lol. And with this, the Dragon being scared of her doesn't make sense. So like my whole being excited cuz Xisis referred to Hoid as Cephandrius and wanted to stay clear of Riina doesn't make sense. Even Hoid later says that Xisis being htere and Hoid coming ruins her plan for being in a backwater country.
Also Xisis randomly giving her a more advanced Naltian tablet, and giving her a spectacle. Idk how he can do that. It feels off when the "mystical" elements are deconstructed into magitech and still this exists for me. ||
As for overall, I think I have ranted enough to still rant about Tress. The prose and narration is the worst (due to being inconsistent) I have seen from Brandon. Even his worst book, The Reckoners, didn't have this issue for me. I think any other problem I have had with this book stems from this fact, I was so bothered by it during my read of it that the other things that were great while reading didn't stay with me because of how the prose and narration would always bother me. There were a lot of good to great stuff all around. Some really super great character moments and like I loved || Fort, Salay and Ann's stories|| I wouldn't say "more time to spend with the characters" is the only way I could love a character, but with the issues of the book for me, I wish I had gotten that. If it had a better narration, the book as it is would have worked. But since it didn't, I would have needed more story and more of these characters for really enjoying it.
|| Tress experimenting with the spores. Tress and other characters dynamics being developed well. And all that while I just go through the pages of the book feel great. But like they don't feel memorable and I so hate it for it. I think structurally as well the book doesn't really work for me. It doesn't feel as connected, as flowing well. Yeah I went through the chapter titles and skimmed over the chapters. I love the content when I remember them, but I can't remember it in proper order or progression without looking at it much. So yeah the feeling not connected issue is there.
||
Either way, it's such a mixed book for me. It's one I would have probably given a 5 star because on paper it does so much I LOVE. But it feels so amateurishly written to me that it just sours the experience, despite the eventual constant series of good stuff in the book
@sand cypress
It ended up being a 3.5 star
A lot improvement from 1 star it was going to be initially
Has anyone in here ever watched he man (the old one)
What the fuck
I love that movie 😔
Sorry
I'll forgive you
Can't stay upset with Harsh
???
couldn't be me
I still hate him for Nov 12th 2021
-# lemme go check my messages to find something from that day
Harry potter
Good watch for today.. anything that involves vatican is fascinating to me, great mystery movie!
this one is pretty mid
Hey
yellowjackets s2 ||god this series would be so peak if every episode just had Elijah wood in it||
Skibidi
Finished Blacklist . Such a goated series
Godzilla x Kong 2 was less than the sum of its parts
Taking a lot of that movie in isolation there's plenty of fun little bits and cool imagery and designs
But wow it didn't flow together
Anyway tv show aside I'm caught up on Monsterverse, free to go and watch cooler Godzilla movies now
There was a kid at the store today that grabbed this and yelled to his mom "Batman fights Donkey Kong???"
wait wtf
Don't show him the new donkey kong
yeah its grog
oh its grodd
ohh
I was on my phone when I sent that and forgot to look it up lol
its graggle
||“Dear Carl” wrap it up || Twd spoilers
@thorny spruce captain America brave new world ||good movie nice action kept everything interesting , red hulk was cool was waiting for him to come out haha ||
Yeah a lot of my issue was ||him coming out in the last part of the movie for 5 seconds and idk the choreograph for the fight over celestial island was so much more enjoyable i wanted him to turn there lmao||
Brave new world ||The celestial island graphics was insane . The clouds , the water and the hand of the celestial looked cool . Plus the way red hulk got defeated in the end was so lame||
Thats the only part i loved and saw actual care put into that scene but yeah also couldnt help but look at all the characters involved and think like ||hulk should really be here 😭||
hey guys, remember to still write the name of the show/movie you're talking about in front of the spoiler tags
if you don't want to write out the whole name, brave new world is enough
Im sorry!! Captain america brave new world
Brave new world || glad they didn’t make this movie political and boring . Hulk vs red hulk would have been so good ||
||I expected more out of the whole spy corruption aspect and yeah hes supposed to be a hulk villain ||
Its whatever thats why i waited for it to be on disney+
Brave new world || marvel movies right now not worth on the big screen I saw on Disney plus too .
What did you expect from the spy thing ||
💀
??
💀
Nothing but still shits like 5.8 on imdb for a reason ig 😭

This is the exact reason I havent watched it yet, they have nothing to say to me
I dont believe that Anthony Mackie is entertaining enough to hold a movie on his own, Red Hulk is boring as hell in the comics, they have that one girl in there that I wont get into but why the hell is she in that movie
Throw together a bunch of shit I dont care about and also have no thematic depth to share with me
Anthony Mackie is so strange because in interviews and stuff he is super entertaining and funny, but on screen he has like absolutely none of that energy ever
Just say 'I don't want to watch it' instead of being completely wrong about literally almost everything
What am I wrong about lol
Does it have a strong message I didnt hear about
Falcon and WS drove me insane with its last episode
Falcon and WS end || He just flies down and is like "We just need to be better!" Like bro can you say something of value at all. How do we need to be better? What do you believe in? ||
I agree with Dust on Falcon and the Winter Soldier
I didn't even finish it to say much
Insipid series with uninspired writing that led to a weaker film in Brave New World
Brave New World isn't good, but like I wouldn't go speaking long on something based on social media reception and scenes. I would just go "It didn't seem like it is good so I didn't watch it"
I have seen the film and I think it’s definitely got some real issues with how it depicts political conflict
No character is interesting to me, Mackie is ok I’m not that hardline on him, he has to carry it all on his shoulders but the writing isn’t enough for him to chew on
I wouldn't say it has 0 thematic depth, and Harrison Ford's performance is enough for me to get to watch it
Its thematic depth is undercut by poor writing and execution
Brave New World || Despite how shitty vfx and the whole story after Red Hulk was, the whole buildup to that and the character conflict leading to that was done very well ||
agreed
My only issue in above is I don't think it's in good faith to talk about something in even depth of above with just social media reception and some clips
A lot of scenes have no reason to be there, Brave New World || I don’t give a shit about Sabra and the new falcon, Giancarlo and Tim Blake Nelson are woefully underused, Ross is less interesting in this than he was written and executed by William Hurt before ||
I disagree on the last statement
but agreed on rest
Brave new world|| I was sold on Ross in this movie. I really didn't give a shit about him in Hulk, Civil War and others he was in ||
really tempted to just watch the entire king of the hill series now. i saw seperate episodes on adult swim, but now I wanna see it all sequentially.
I also wanna watched it
I think the only reason I never watch them was because thry didnt air at night in my country, like the simpsons or futurama
Tress || Nice review. One thing that will always stick with me is the feeling of dread I felt when Tress was first walking over the spore sea. Quite actually more horrifying than dedicated horror media imo. ||
the first one
I started rereading Roger Ackroyd
LETS GO
well could even say first read cuz I read it for the first time in 2013
I've read that! Enjoy

christie is the GOAT
the only thing I remember from Roger Ackroyd is || One of the main character being Miss Marple version 0.1 ||
@brave orbit WTF there’s a new Doctor already?
how was Gatwa's run
Doctor who LATEST ||Billie Piper as the Doctor????||
Yeah what the fuck
This shit is crazy
It was good, 8/10 id say
Yea its sad 😔
I had seen rumors floating around of Doctor Who on the risk of being cancelled
so they are banking on Nostalgia?
Nah its not cancelled
Just they dont know if Disney is still interested in funding it
But BBC will 100%
Its also rumoured to have more spinoff miniseries
I might have to give up on this show this is so dumb
I dont mind

man is a hero.. will take a step back from Star Wars for the good of the franchise
Thoughts on Invincible?
its aight
Good show for like 16 year olds
Star Wars so boring . It’s the same thing every movie
@brave orbit Sack Russell T. Davies
Dr Who 2025 || Ncuti leaving already made me so mad, he deserved more, it feels like the 9th all over again. And its clear that RTD has no grand ideas for the series anymore beyond "Glup shitto is back" so at best he should just write certain episodes and let someone else take over. I did kinda get hyped by it this time atleast, cuz I love Jodie and I love Rose but it gets to a point...||
Dr Who 2025|| also all that build for Rani just for her to get ate, and for Omega just for him to be ugly as shit and lose to the vindicator which is a laser gun somehow... So underwhelming unfortunately||
You're probably asleep but I just wanted to scream about it before also going to sleep 🙂↕️
I havent watched but this is about what i expected
Dr who 2025 || Honestly I didn't expect it but RTD is committed to this direction, I just hope the next season is his last. Do the Daleks, Master and Cybermen again one last time and hand it off to someone else. ||

Is it physically possible to be as cool of a white boy as timothee chalamet
Or am i just forced to a life of doom
Why does Stranger Things final season have to be divided that way bruh
This shit makes no sense
netflix needs the monthly revenue
thanksgiving, xmas and nye
Trying to make families all sit down and watch it together after dinner
I’ve heard that half of the episodes in the season are like 2 hours long so they’re just trying to milk their golden child as much as they can
one last time
Aot all over again
Yeah they wanna keep families subbing for the entire holiday season
Landing in three waves to cover all bases
Almost shocked it doesn't start on Halloween with four drops
I mean its only a one month gap so its nbd
yeah it could be worse
ive yet to watch it despite having ST on my watchlist 5 years ago, dunno why.
doesn't really interest me at all. Watched a chunk of season... 4? with my friends on a trip
cause it released at the same time as our trip
my sisters were obsessed with it
idk if they still care about it atp lol
the long wait between seasons for every show now makes it hard for me to care
thats why i prefer completed series
beyond season 1 it lost its sheen
Its a pretty bad show honestly, season 1 was pretty good but it just continually hits the same beats with diminishing returns

@undone junco @modern lichen @sage remnant
yeah this was played after the episode, I saw it already, seems cool
you havent seen the episode right?
Nop
gotcha gotcha
Why’d they do Ncuti like that
poor guy lasted just 2 seasons and was never given the proper hype lol
the farthest shore ||what's the issue with arren?||
the farthest shore ||i think his arc alongside ged really complimented each other, as both double-helixed into each other||
The Farthest Shore || I think the book is really good, its just that genuinely I had trouble connecting to him the way I did Ged and Tenar ||
have you read her scifi works harsh?
yeah
Like its not even a problem with the story, it just connected to me less
I love Dispossesed, need to read Left Hand still
hainish cycle is great and i love it very much, especially left hand
but my loyalty lies towards earthsea
Earthsea general || I love the way her magic focuses on communication rather than pure domination the way a lot of other fantasy does, all of the name stuff is absolutely brilliant ||
earthsea ||i also think its genius that the use of magic has a heavy cost||
earthsea ||magic is not just waving a wand and chanting some latin phrases, it is connecting with nature and being deeply involved with the innate nature of things||
Harry Potter found dead in a ditch
i wanted let some slander in, i like it but its no earthsea
and rowling is no le guin, doesn't even amount to le guin's toenail
The level of nuance in childrens writing is just even close
Le Guins careful attention to demographic makes her work so special
She doesnt dumb down to kids or teens, she writes what she thinks they need to hear and experience
le guin trusts her readers to know and intellectualize what she's writing
@undone junco just watched
Doctor who latest ||I didn't like the first half much (too much lore and exposition) and yea how the one Rani got defeated wa kinda underwhelming, but the ending and how the story changed to Poppy was super cool, and OMG the Jodie cameo was amazing, I hope there is more of her in a miniseries or something ||
Doctor who latest || Ms. flood is atleast out there so hopefully Rani has a better role then when she returns. The Jodie cameo was my favorite part of the episode, she's just so great in the role and I want to see her atleast return for some specials or something. On Poppy, I just think the whole story is very silly. Like its an entirely different life being forced upon Belinda, one that she never wished for ever but that dork Conrad did. And the series presents that as a bad thing but still has her accept it anyways which doesn't really fit her character from the start or the messaging here. RTD did a Ruby Road-esque lamppost thing again with her always wanting to return for her daughter but it'd have been a lot better if that actually existed since the start instead of just being a new memory that only spawned from all the reality changes. I did really like Ruby here, speaking of her. That scene where the coat of Poppy is slowly fading away was just brilliant. I just wish things were less convoluted here. Rose/Billie's return just feels like nostalgia bait but atleast unlike Omega and Rani... I'm getting baited successfully lmao||
Dr who latest || oh also hopefully she's actually The Doctor, and this is like Peter Capaldi returning after the Pompeii episode or Torchwood||
Doctor who latest ||I feel like it was good setup for Omega to come back in the future, and yea the Poppy thing was... weird, but I really like how it tied in the end||
ALSO
Doctor who latest ||Just saying, the Omega looked AMAZING, especially compared with the original....||
Dr who latest || Oh right, I was expecting something with Tecteun and the timeless child but Omega didn't even have anything interesting to say or do, he has to be returning in the future or this really just looks like nothing more than a fanservice cameo||
|| oh yea, the weird mud baby looked very stupid lol||
||Or whatever it was supposed to be||
I kinda loved it
||It's a Titan made out of bones. It mixed with the mythology of greek gods || DW latest
Dr who latest || I was just expecting a person, or atleast some kind of humanoid lol but maybe when he returns...||
Dr who latest || like Tecteun was just an old lady, I thought oh it'll be an evil old guy 😭 ||
Dr who latest || idk, just felt odd, I get the explanation but that OG design would've been excellent.||
Oh right
Dr who latest ||Oh RTD mentioned Ruby remembers stuff because of 73 Yards||
|| About Ncuti's exit, it seems like it was clearly not planned from what I've been reading. I guess if it was out of their control for whatever reason then I'm not as mad but its still very frustrating ||
||Apparently it was planned, or at least he said so in the Behind the scenes idk||
Dr who latest || I assume they're just lying. I read that the regeneration was filmed just this year so it was tacked on||
Dr who latest || I liked him from the start but he was really delivering his best in season 2 💔, just feels very shitty no matter why it happened||
Dr who latest || hope he returns in the future though because returns are the big thing now lol ||
Dr who latest ||From what I read the plan was for 2 seasons with Ncuti, but coming back for spinoffs in miniseries similar to Children of Earth||
Dr who latest ||Because those are the easiest ones for Disney to finance and market||
Dr who latest || I'll see if I can find it again but I just saw an interview from him from last year today where he's talking about filming a 3rd series soon so it doesn't feel like the plan at all. Maybe the series being in potential hiatus limbo caused him to leave, idk||
Dr who latest ||Also the explanation for the Rani surviving the Master's ma killing was absolutely bullshit RTD didn't even try to pretend it was reasonable LMAO||
There
Dr who latest || oh for sure lmao, but its w/e, I didn't mind it. Speaking of that, I liked the explanation for Bi Generation, it kinda makes sense lol||
He's probably lying about it being the plan all along
But welp, its over now 😭
But it was a pretty good ep overall in RTD finale standards, was expecting worse
I liked it more than last season's atleast so there's that
Apparently there's multiple endings to this ep?
Dr who latest ||Honestly not a fan of the super-cinematic high-tech VFX action stuff so it being brought to character level through Poppy's plot and Ruby's probably saved the ep by a lot for me ngl||
Haven't watched Gatwa's seasons. My sister was just ranting about this last ep and || Billie Piper || to me lol
Doctor Who latest^
Yeah thats been a rumor going around too
The original ending was scrapped, and replaced || with a regeneration||
Also this last season was heavy on Classic Who?
not rly
Its very likely to be true, just not 100% confirmed but I'd go like 90%
Well
Dr who latest || RTD2 has been very heavy on past Who in general, not even just Classic||
ehhhh it's mostly standalone imo
Dr who latest || Started with Catherine and David returning, then you had the Toymaker, Sutekh, and this season there's Fugitive Doctor, Susan, Rani, Omega, Jodie and finally Billie||
Dr who latest || I like it when its modern who though, I'm just listing them all||
But yea goro the answer to that is kinda yeah, it has been lol
RTD wants DW to be as big as Marvel but kinda wish he started writing well-plotted finales first 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭
I was gonna say, it feels very Marvel like
He wants it to be a proper franchise
Well it is a proper franchise
But as connected, if that makes sense
2021
Yea that makes a lot of sense lmao
I thought it was a Disney thing
But it's just RTD
They should put that Disney money to better use
Doctor who latest ||Fugitive doctor+Jodie spinoff and all is forgiven 🙏 ||
Tbf he did it when he revived it before Marvel made that thing popular
in his first run it connected super well with the spinoffs
Doctor Who latest || the war between land and sea seems interesting but I'm not sure if anyone was dying to see a Unit centric story? Just feels very random. It should've been a series for the Fugitive. I'm still also mad that David and Catherine didn't last longer smh||
Doctor who latest ||I'm actually super excited for that spinoff tbh, UNIT spinoff would be great. And Kate Stewart's Lucky Day portrayal was a really good set-up for the kind of darker tone that Torchwood had (tho I doubt it will be that similar lmao)||
True true, but he's probably trying to be more Marvel like than that lol
||Also Russell Tovey as lead of the spinoff is great, He played Alonso before and is also one of the leads in RTD's Years and Years (you should watch it now)|| Doctor Who
Doctor who latest || i like Kate and Unit, I just didn't figure it would be high up on their priority list to be the very first one. its whatever though because it still seems interesting atleast||
Oh yea I have that on the list
it's like 5 eps why have you not watched it yet smh
I was trying to catch up to the OP anime smh, I was like a hundred episodes behind
I only have 3 to go now
So I'll move onto newer stuff soon 🙏
In like a week probably, I'll try to get the shorter stuff out of the way first so I'll watch it
nice
But yea DW 2023 s2 was a pretty good season
I think I prefer the first maybe? idk
same
S2 was probably more consistent in quslity, S1 had better standalone stories
doctor who latest || Yeah for sure, Rogue, Boom, 73 yards, Dot and Bubble were better standalone episodes than the ones this season aside from The Well imo, but generally this season was atleast pretty consistent||
doctor who latest ||Lux, The Well, Lucky Day, The Story Engine were my fav||
Doctor Who latest || yeah I loved them too, just preferred the season 1 episodes I mentioned. ||
||I hope the episode count is bigger whenever they return, because the standalone stuff has been the best throughout this era and there's just not enough of it||
Sadly i dont think its gonna happen 😔
yeah...
but if its on hiatus and there's like 2 years till the show returns and it returns with 8 episodes?
If the UK govt was smart they'd just give DW infinite money smh
ill be so mad
Also @undone junco Doctor who latest ||The Boss was mentioned - he was first brought up by Beep the meep, any theories? ||
Doctor who latest || I was thinking maybe its linked with The Corporation but I have no idea who it'll be lol. Its probably not worth speculating for me if its just another classic Who villain 😭 ||
i'll say, all of this is making me want to watch Classic Who, maybe thats the intention
but I don't have the time for it atm smh
Doctor who latest ||I was thinking the Master who owns the Time Hotel and uses it as its own TARDIS maybe||
Doctor who latest || I guess timey-wimey stuff would make it work but the Master was in a tooth when Meep mentioned the Boss first. The Tardis idea and it being linked with a time lord makes sense though||
