only voice actor in the main cast returning is zuko's VA 💔💔
Sad for Atla fans
Finished Dream Scenario ||It was a really interesting movie that explores a wild premise and utilizes it to showcase the price of fame and the burden it has on people through its protagonist. When the dreams started to shift the professor's perception for the worse, I definitely felt for his struggle. This fills in a niche I didn't know I wanted, cause I have been curious on how a scenario might mentally affect a good to honest old boomer. I got that with interesting results. The only thing that was a little meh was the ending. I think I got the idea that love the professor has for his family with the final scene, but it didn't feel satisfying of a conclusion. Nonetheless 90% of the movie kept me hooked, so I really enjoyed this. ||
Nicholas Cage is a great actor
ruined by woke...
lady bird ||it's excessive but I've definitely seen relationships like this, where the mother is jealous of their daughter to varying extents. my friend thought it was spot-on and reflected a lot of people she knew's relationships with their parents||
It’s also been like 15-20 years since the show was released
Aang Last airbender || might be difficult for some of them to keep the same voice they did a decade ago. Some are pretty good at it||
Aang last airbender and Avarar LA ||whats funny to me is that every single new thing that’s posted about these shows pisses the fans off, like it’s just constant bad decisions almost||
||i mean if they’re all adults in the show and in real life they could just use their normal voices lol no need to do anything to it ||
I completely forgot about that aspect
Yeah I guess it doesn’t quite make sense
Aang Last airbender ||I honestly don’t think anyone would actually care if they just used the same voice actors, May be another reason cause this is just silly||
Somehow the ATLA universe already gives me the same disinterest as anything star wars related and they’ve barely put in any content yet
dumb and unnecessary change. the fans want the old voice actors back. if it aint broke, why fix it?
There’s a saying, if something isn’t adding up then money is involved
avatar netflix live action || didnt they change sokkas sexism in the live action because it wouldn't go well with audiences too? even tho overcoming it is a core trait of his character arc? ||
they just going woke for no reason
doesnt even surprise me
Avatar LA ||isn’t making Sokka lose his misogyny the opposite of being woke?||
did you read the following statement
Avatar LA and TV show ||I mean he kind of gets over it and learns woman are to be respected in like 10 minutes of runtime, so this would seem more woke than the opposite of making him respect woman right away ||
I did darling
Lady bird ||Yeah the portrayal of this family dynamic here is definitely real and exists. I've been thinking on how to perceive the intended message of Lady Bird and her mom, it came off at the end as "split the blame equally" (via that letter at the end) but Lady Bird apologizes too (via the final phone call) and abandons her name. But the more I think about it the more it doesn't really make sense to me since that tone doesn't match the events in the movie at all. Idk why she is apologizing or abandoning her name||
Lady bird ||gotta say tho Im not American and I've never been to a private school, so perhaps im misinterpreting some cultural nuances in the movie
||
About to watch thunderbolts* in theaters
They played a trailer for the LA how to train your dragon movie
yellowjackets s1e3 ||keep going back and forth on whether I like this or not||
||wish they'd stay a bit longer on the past version instead of the constant cuts to 2021||
Watched an old Russian cartoon based on Indian folklore called The Golden Antelope
This feels like it was a massive influence on Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away it's almost uncanny
(Which isn't surprising I guess The Snow Queen is one of his biggest influences period and this is another work by the same director, it's just curious how this doesn't show up in the western animation canon like, at all, since its impact is more understated)
hm?
i know what that's based on
the ramayana
oh no
its something else

lady bird ||Are you confused why she still left despite seeming somewhat amicable in the letter? The entire movie is lady bird attempting to rationalize the contradictions in her mother's behavior: why does she say she loves me, despite being so restrictive? why does she feel the need to compete with me, despite being my mother? She's sheltered and affluent and a teenager so it was obviously difficult for her to understand these questions, and she hadn't reached the stage of maturity where you realize that nobody ever acts irrationally, but reaching there was basically the whole point of the movie. People do things that don't seem logical but they're always rooted, and even if the outcome of said things is emotional trauma (or worse), there was something in their life that pushed the doer into that position- their own childhood trauma, stress, mental illness, addiction, whatever the case. Her mother felt many different sorts of ways about becoming pregnant so late in life, some of that came out as resentment and jealousy, some of it as intense care and love. She was inherently a person that had trouble expressing these feelings and her circumstances exacerbated this problem further until that was the norm of their relationship, where because she refused to be open with her daughter and tried to ignore everything, problems sprouted up elsewhere. Obviously she was emotionally abusive as a result but she still loved lady bird, and to a large extent that was where her actions were rooted, which was what Lady bird realized by the end - that despite her knowing she had to leave for the sake of building her own personal identity and future, she didn't hold any ill will towards her as a person. ||
Lady bird ||Great analysis I agree with what you mean how deep down she desires to have a "better" life than lady bird but also wants to be closer to her daughter at the same time, pride plays a big role in that way they both have some foil since lady bird has some of these same traits, tenacity, opinionated, we also learn of how lady bird's grandma was to her mom so she was likely repeating behaviors she had grown up with, not sure if I'd call it tough love exactly but from the airport scene and letters at the end she clearly doesn't hold any ill will towards her as a person yeah. In a way it feels sorta like a "I prefer you being mad at me and safe than being happy doing something that could end bad" situation leading to some emotional abuse, despite on surface wanting what's best for her, Lb does a great job at capturing the humanness of both characters in that way||
Ty for the explanation also Juba, def answered some confusions I had
mistborn hero of ages end ||this book's ending will never not be phenomenal||

Noicee
Dig the tariffs gonna kill the film industry lmfao
Some dumbass shit
Great movie,great director
Yo @undone junco watched ep 4?
Should I go watch thunderbolts
It’s a solid time
ladies and gentlemen.... we got him
THIS
some of the actors have quit acting, Aang's VA was an real kid during recording.
Some of the ATLA cast have also showed they want to have new actors
I finished In The Mood for Love || It's a fine movie with great cinematography, I just couldn't feel much for their struggles as they come to terms with the affairs going on within their circles. I'm just not particularly a fan of the way dialogue is exchanged and how reserved the main characters are, but that's a preference more than anything.||
The Boys season 4 episode 1 ||God, I love Karl Urban so fucking much. What a great actor.||
Haven't even seen episode 3 😭, tomorrow both for sure 🙏
@modern lichen

I wish we had a Wonder woman or Flash series
especially flash, but only if it's Animated
what's a movie here that has really good cinematography? I want to practice studying cinematography.
Drive My Car, Lady Bird
If you wanna practice studying images, then recognise images and patterns in composition
Study photographers first
ok
Ok, so upon observing myself on how I critique/analyze film, I tend to be heavily attentive to character writing in dialogue. Cause I love character writing a lot in my anime/manga a lot cause what they say can say a lot about their character. I've admittedly never paid much attention to filmography cause when I actually attempt to describe filmography, it dumbs down to "This way of filming does enough to engage me, this way of filming makes a character seem hopeless, intimidating, etc". Surface level stuff basically. So I'm going to analyze things in movies in a way where I view the camera as a character. Filmography is centric to movies. Cameras manipulate the way I as a viewer view the story and characters with:
-color filters
-perspective
-shot movement
-field of view
-zoom in/out
-focus of expression
In a way, the camera acts as a character with its own way of expressing itself with these elements to make a movie unique. The camera does a lot to make me view characters and the setting in scenes in a specific, emphasize light. Because I like character writing so much, I think shifting my perspective to see camera-kun as its own character will help me engage with the movie medium better. Might be more fun and interesting.
mistborn final empire end

I haven’t seen it but the marketing gimmick spoiled the movie regardless
Yeah his name was Blackagar Boltagon
There is a character like that but he doesn’t have lightning powers
how the hell do you remember that dude's name
Literally Black Bolt
Cause it’s stupid lol
no I know about black bolt harsh, I just mean his like name name
Black Bolt’s real name is Blackagar Boltagan it’s real stupid

talking bout thunderbolts? they replacing its name with a spoiler title lol
Lmfao changing the name to an already successful film is wild as fuck
Ain’t never seen a movie with a dead name before
Wait what
Live die repeat was called edge of tomorrow
Apparently the opening weekend for thunderbolts was the in the bottom 10 marvel has had lol
It’s a spoiler
Well, I guess the context would be a spoiler
It has two names
I feel like word of mouth will give this legs though
Fr? Maybe people aren’t sold on the new Marvel vision yet
Cap Brave new world did better
But like i said
Word of mouth is good
It will have legs
Just let Marvel die fr
Wow they really changed the name of the movie
Lol this is quite the lineup of trash down here
To what?
Thundebrolts ||the new avengers ||
Is it spoilers if it's the name of the damn movie now
Ahh
I would say yeah
I know about the post credit scene
Im surprised they did it so soon
Thunderbolts ||yeah it seems like its setting up some beef between them, pretty funny scene ||
On shit
Opps
Oops
This is domestic
160 million internationally
movies are gonna flop overseas from now on prob
Good
The tariffs bs is gonna contribute to that
The movie tariffs or whatever gotta be the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen 😭
looks like thunderbolts is getting enough popularity to the point im alrdy hearing potential spoilers, whereas i havent heard much about brave new world(besides the shit they spoil in the trailer) even tho its been 4 months since it came out lol
im unable to see it until my finals are over so gon be a while
100% tariff if you dont shoot in USA bro the usa doesnt have every location you could want why we punishing film makers 😞
The idea of putting tariffs on movies is inherently stupid
an idea only the smartest president could come up with
Idk if its getting on the verge of too political but im curious to see how Hollywood will shake out with these
def a deliberate political move due to hollywood's left leaning
Movies theater are already still down since covid
ppl are only going to see event type movies
😞
2020 was a crazy time that’s so rough lmfao
When ur biggest release in 2019 is avengers endgame compared to bad boys for life in 2020 you know you’re cooked
thunderbolts seem to be going the suicide squad path, where its succesful critically but seems to be underperforming or flop
Idk something tells me man it will have legs trust
im betting on it ending around 400m
Bad Boys for Life was a very fun time
I ask people IRL about thunderbolts and they tell me they'll just watch it on Disney+
Will theaters die and/or become only a luxury with even higher prices?
That's part of the problem. Even good marvel films are just part of such a predictable pipeline people don't feel pressure to see em in theaters anymore lol
They'll start serving alcohol at reasonable prices
Id go to mine more if a beer wasn't 15 bucks
Booze saved arcades
not enough theatres playing it here in english lmao its very funny
so i'm just gonna wait till it comes out on disney+
i'm definitely gonna go watch the new mission impossible on the biggest possible screen, just 5 days away from release
excited for the new mission impossible. binged all the movies last year to catch up to the recent movie and it ended up becoming one of my favorite movie franchises
When's the next movie
comes out may 23
oh my mistake it comes out on may 17 here

that mfr62 now .. lets be real
Lady Bird ||It's been years since I last heard the USA Pledge of Allegiance. That brings back memories 😓 ||
||Also I like the red-hair girl, she really fell off that car and noped out of her mother like that. 😭 ||
Lady Bird ||This is kinda hitting home as someone that's been to a religious high school||
Finished Lady Bird ||I feel this movie perfectly summarized the Catholic high school experience perfectly. How Lady Bird rebelled against Catholic customs and how she had selfish arguments with her mother, not really fitting the mold of a Catholic student, it all hits home for me personally (though I wish on my personal end, I had rebelled against customs too, but I was too shy back then to do such things 😂 ). Most especially, that even when Lady Bird hates her strict mother, she still loves her. Although I might not have had the exact experiences as this girl, there's lots of parts that I experience and could relate to. Therefore, this movie genuinely touched me.||
what about the cinematography though
i mean, there is good cinematography, just not much a notable emphasis as the last movie I watched to particularly comment on it extensively. A lot can be inferred with Lady Bird's dialogue primarily.
i mean, cinematography is more than just enhancement of character moments no? if you're just viewing it as that + cool camera angles, aren't you kind of doing your desire to critique it more directly a disservice?
It is a disservice I suppose, but what do I even say further beyond those things?
Ok I did read a cinematographic analysis of the movie from here to see what that sort of analysis is like: https://colorculture.org/cinematography-analysis-of-lady-bird-in-depth/
I guess if I paid attention more I would have at least spotted and said how the color grading is remiscent of nostalgia, which helped me resonate with the film more.
There's a lot more that can be said in an analysis than I thought with what I read.
in theory good cinematography should be invisible
same with good editing
the purpose is to draw attention to the story
not away from
These are rules of thumb though, they dont always apply
if the color theory matches, you dont notice. If it feels out of place, you'd be taken out of the scene
the meta aspects of it the article analyzes like what lens are used feels like that's beyond my league.
I think I could probably comment briefly on lighting and camera had I gone deeper if I went deeper
Composition is the only thing that's stumbling me in understanding it atm
So I guess I'll read more about that.
lighting is another good example of invisibility
strong artificial lighting is always there in a movie
with few exceptions
so prevalent that your brain is trained to see it as naturalistic
Watch Jesse James already

Man most of Love Death & Robots season 1 kinda sucks.
This volume often feels torn between whether it's supposed to be thoughtful adult animation or modern MTV shorts and ultimately feels like a high concept 2 minute shorts stretched to 15 through gratuitous sex, blood and archetypical characters who you can't even begin to care about.
I see why Netflix reshuffled the order of em. Kinda shoved most of the lowest brow ones into the middle. Guess it was the shows growing pains as it figured out whether it was Animated Black Mirror or Zoomer Heavy Metal
And then it had the audacity to end on a short as stupidly good as Zima Blue after shorts that felt like trailers for a CoD game and Borderlands 3 smh
Mission Impossible 1 || I remember this whole heist being ruined by a drop of sweat. seems I am getting closer to that scene... ||
no words to even describe this andor batch, its that great
I forgot a new one was coming out
Rewatching in preparation of that
Drive My Car ||Dang man, is this man's kink is his woman narrating erotic fiction during sex? Never seen something like that, but it looks to be something that fuels him as a creative. 🤔 ||
would be hilarious if this is the last thing you say about this film
we'll see
@sage remnant tainted cup is very fun so far
really loving how detailed the world is already
Drive My Car ||Oh wow, that sudden death was certainly an Adachi moment. 🧐 ||
Drive My Car ||This organization where actors from various languages can participate in plays is really cool. I wonder if it's real, and if so, where I can find that sort of thing||
Such a good time to be fan of fantasy
That heist sequence blew my mind when i saw it
I don't know if that was the case tbf
For me
I can't remember since its been ages since I first warxhsd it
Watched*
MI4 ||the dubai stunt in MI4 gotta be my favorite. might be one of the craziest stunt all time. had me nervous af watching it,esp knowing that cruise does his own stunts||
im glad new one comes out after my finals over
nevermind, even he's not coming back
Finished Drive My Car ||I like how this is a slow-burn story where it time is taken to really explore its characters through the conversations they have during driving sessions. Said driving sessions are presented purposely with a darker tone and lots of faraway shots of the area they're driving in to make the conversations where characters relay their honest opinions on things hit home. The developments with the driver and the acting director progressed naturally in a way that got me attached to them. I was pretty satisfied by the end, where it is implied in the final scene that both the acting director and driver were able to move on and present themselves more honestly. Pretty nice movie overall. ||
I finished The Boys and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Any other series ya'll would recommend that isn't MCU or Star Wars related? I'm terriiiible at keeping up with TV. I can tolerate virtually any genre.
did you ever watch severance
no i haven't. in fact, it's safe to assume most shows I haven't seen nowadays.
watch severance
oh it has adam scott. i liked him
wait funny story
i ran into him once at a parking lot and he gave me a weird look when i noticed him.
some grocery store
he was like taking his kid out of the car or something but it took me a second to register that part
Shogun, Severance, Silo
Shogun I remember wanting to try. but that's two for severence so far
Shogun is 8 ep and finished
Severance is 2 seasons with 3rd one in 2026. Not sure if it will end there
why is everything 8 fucking episodes nowadays.
i assume budgets with how good shows look
i do work for productions and they don't tell me shit
People even find that long apparently
Sad times
I thought they were making a season 2
Oh yes.
But its effectively finished as there's no more source for this story. This story reached its conclusion
Buffy 7 seasons, 22 episodes at 40 min each. Though season 1 was 12 episodes.
And Silo has Rebecca Ferguson
And still hasn't watched Firefly

........so true
Ah, Severence is Apple. I ain't paying for another streaming service. But I have my ways.
i plan to.....um, someday.
so i've heard
"don't say anything, THEY will hear you..."
shogun isnt finished its getting a season 2
Ye I remembered later
But the story's effectively finished 😎
And no source left so its cash cow filler
dark, severance, battlestar galactica, expanse
second on severance. if you haven't watched Succession, also recommend that. also second Shogun.
basically any show that starts with S is good, Hollywood has cracked the code
Sex in the City it is!
@brave orbit hey
I had the time to watch today, really loved episode 3, episode 4 was... not great!
Damn you're asleep I guess, later then
Hey
Smh
Hey
I'll explain
Dr Who 2025 latest || so Episode 3 was the midnight sequel, and I kinda don't see how this creature is supposed to be like that creature from midnight? Maybe I'm forgetting something because none of what it did beyond possession resembled that. That aside, super great, very tense, Ncuti was excellent in this. ||
Dr who 2025 episode 4 ||Lucky Day is a weird one, half the episode is unbelievably boring, spending way too much time on the dates and the side scenes. I like Ruby somewhat and this episode was atleast good for her character, but its odd to circle back to her when the other companion is infinitely more intriguing right now. Aside from that, this episode is just straight up cartoonish to me, like the idea of "aliens aren't real" actually picking up so much steam was just plain goofy. Also the idea of Conrad doing all this because he was attention deprived from childhood was actually kinda intriguing but it was shot down in the episode itself lol, so welp, he's just coming off as an idiot, not even a full on grifter. His motivations needed to be explored better. What also really bothered me was how hard the show, and especially the Doctor, sided with UNIT. Their behavior was extreme yet its never really questioned until Kate damn near kills Conrad. Oh and the Doctor at the end still basically celebrates the idea of him rotting in prison forever, like its too much imo||
I'm looking forward to the rest of the season though, 3/4 ain't so bad, still been a ton of fun
Well I'm sleepy now, gn
Thunderbolts ||https://vxtwitter.com/discussingfilm/status/1920270813816590405?s=46&t=X3B7MRz0kX59BkyU8suOWg||
Disney be Disneying
I mean this is just Stitch's old marketing gimmick
They're pushing this film way harder than their other live actions for some reason
There's been an increasing amount of stitch merch at my job
the original is great I'd rather just rewatch that
When I went to watch thunderbolts
during the previews, my friend started crying during the "how to train your dragon" preview
and said "I just love movies man"
shes one of the people that really like the live actions I guess
but I just don't get it
Buffy watching severance?!
I mean I agree, but to be fair, the how to train your dragon live action is by the same director so he’ll probably at least have a vision
sure but like
just watch the original
its just gonna be worse
I wish they'd complete the original ending and do a directors cut for it
The biggest complaint I have about the movie is the shit redone last second because of 9/11
A final cut of Lilo and Stitch would go hard
I honestly dont know what the original ending was
Lilo and Stitch ||It's the action setpiece before the ending that changed. The spaceship Stitch hijacks chasing Gantu's through the mountains
Originally it was Stitch embracing his earth heritage and hijacking an airplane from the Honolulu airport and crashing it through the tourist district of the city, scraping against buildings with reoccurring background characters in horror, as he follows Gantu's ship. It's way cooler and brings a lot of sub-themes together. But they painted over the animation right before release cuz, y'know, can't have a plane attacking skyscrapers in holiday 2001||
Lilo and Stitch ||the home invasion scene was originally more serious too||
ah, gotcha
Lilo and Stitch ||sounds like it didnt change much outside of that thematic element of it. Im glad it was just altered instead of cut fully||
Lilo and Stitch ||yeah it's mostly just clearly not as well animated as the rest of the film||
yeah
Lilo and Stitch ||https://youtu.be/j-s47rHdHYg?feature=shared||
Part of the originally intended ending to Lilo & Stitch.
They switched the 747 to a spaceship and dropped the inner city part in the aftermath of some highly publicised plane crashes in 2001, as it was thought to be distasteful.
Most of it was already finished
Lilo and Stitch ||yeah googled it. The original has more interesting/well executed scenery etc. But they kept the ice cream man at least||
Yeah probably lol
I just think if any live action has a chance it’s this
have they shown a single elvis song yet
ok theres one in the trailer
its definitely gonna be worse though. Too many visual gags, and a lot of them involving lilo
cant replicate that with an actual child actor not in animation
Disney letting go of Chris Sanders over fucking Bolt might be the dumbest thing they've done this century

I own nothing. FOX does.
Seth Rogan moment
Seth Rogen is making great stuff now, The Studio is amazing
Dr who latest ||I mean the creature evolves so yea||
Dr who latest ||I found the whole ep great tbh. Showing what Ruby's life is like after the doctor left, her flight or fight attitude that comes from her ptsd. "Think tank" is also an estabilished organisation from the 70s iirc, and the lack of distrust to the govt makes sense.
Conrad might have been started it due to childhood, but he has turned into essentially grifting for clout (think Andrew Tate). I alzo didnt mind how UNIT was portrayed, it was clear Kate's behaviour was extreme (broke Geneva protocols, something Kate acknowledged) and as for the Doctor its consistent with his character imo.
This is also a likely setup for the UNIT spinoff next year, which will likely explore Kate and what the consequences of the ep are||

Sega? Prob not. Paramount? Much more likely
I doubt paramount has exclusive movie rights forever

Disney will buy Paramount and Sega and finally we'll get a faithful version of Sonic Colors as Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie #7
Sonic x Mickey movie bouta go hard
Mickey wins
why has disney forsaken mickey and friends btw
do they even do mickey cartoons anymore
I don't think so?
mickey feels like exclusively something for little kids now
Wonderful World ended a while ago
I don't know if Clubhouse gets new episodes and also that's for actual babies
didnt know this existed
It's great
But also it's hard to know if they have a plan for the future and are just waiting for a natural generational shift
yea Clubhouse is the last thing I remember seeing as an actual Mickey show
Or if they cancelled it cuz they want 90s Mickey back where he was just a brand face
clubhouse was on in the morning before i left for high school all those years ago
Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse is like genuinely the best thing the characters been utilized for since the 50s
would see it thumbing thru the channels

I also liked that little anniversary short they did for Mickey: Story of a Mouse
can't wait for Avengers Secret Wars 3 in 2046 with Mickey, Sonic, Spongebob, and Darthu (character made in 2031)

man if I mentioned the shit I watched on disney
are these not the same thing
i remember just phineas and ferb
It was a special episode
ah gotcha

I like the episode that's secretly Goofy Movie 3
ah man i wanna rewatch ducktales
Dude watch Disney reboot Mickey as a live action direct to Disney+ Kingdom Hearts show that lasts two seasons
You know they'd do it
OH
THATS WHY THEY DONT DO MICKEY STUFF AS MUCH ANYMORE
I wasnt even thinking about not doing 2d animation much anymore
This is how I’ll decipher KH’s story
KHs story is easy to follow if you play em all in release order
It's not 2deep4u it's just idiotic
nah itll just be a new entry in the series that is important to watch for the next game
not a recap
It'll be a sequel to a Japanese only event in a mobile game you'll never play
ye the main issue is just that nobody wants to play the shitty games made for handhelds
How dare you suggest such a thing
or mobile devices
This is hardly a problem compared to all the union x and browser game stuff they've done lately
Major character backstories being told through a dead gacha
Funniest thing
eh. Its still a problem. Those games are NOT good. My entire KH series playthrough was halted because of how boring games made for 2000s handhelds are (365/2 days)
Filtered
I like BBS more than the bit of 3 I played
its all like shitty mission structure with bad gameplay made to be played in 15 minute spurts
so you can play at any time
But yeah, western series
Look up a best episodes list of Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse I really do like that show
It ran its natural course I'm not bummed it's over
i'll check it out
I dont have faith in BBS either if FF7 crisis core is anything to go by
Gam-
anyway yeah
But it definitely brought the character back
I wouldnt actually watch a new mickey show if they made one, Im out on western cartoons
but its still sad
using disney+ mostly for the greatness that's andor
People play Pokemon all the time what do you mean
I'm a crisis core hater and I like BBS
BBS sucks if you want a deep action game, maybe worst in the series. If you want an RPG on the PSP it's one of the best options on the system
It totally fails the balance but I lean towards the half its good at
no, like the 2000s "spinoff of main series game made for DS/PSP" that are made with some random 3rd party dev
Oh you said the
designed for you to play for 10 mins on the train
Specifically talking about kh
Rayman Raving Rabids
Smh
Already over it it's okay
I like their docu series actually
I just wish they'd stop like
Taking 20 minutes away from the documentary to talk about how cool Disney is and how magical everything is please buy our Lego sets and lunchboxes
disney+ here is integrated with another india-specific platform
It's like they have a mandate that they can't go an hour of behind the scenes talk before putting the curtain back up for a minute
disney hasnt been cool for 15~ years
you know that's why i specifically like light and magic, the doc about ILM that is the iconic VFX studio, they dont pander to disney whims
and this is speaking as someone that lives 3 hours from disney world and would go there in a heartbeat again if my friends werent so averse

I wanna get on the bus with the Disney adults, who are morbidly obese, and do the little dance
when i was kid, and my family were living in the US, my parents took me to disneyland in anaheim
they described it as torture
I had no clue you used to live in the US. Thank god you got out
🙏
shits ass here fr..
yeah 😔
not to get too political but yeah
I haven't been to Land (which is infinitely smaller in scale, it's an actual park where World is a small country) but yeah theme parks aren't for everyone
my sister was just born and my dad went "fuck this"
I grew up with em so I'm thoroughly brain rotted
well I imagine it was hell because of the kid (harsh) and less so the park itself
Definitely the right call
thats how it usually is at least
Ive been to Disney with small children before its a vibe problem
Hype
i was a great kid
Did you have a little autograph book
my parents would take us to 2 parks a year (swapped back and forth between disney, busch gardens, and universal studios), and most of the time they'd regret it because of the bantering between kids (my parent's friends all had kids around the same time so there were like 8 of us kids)
Do they do that at Land
bickering moreso
i dont remember anything from that park, i remember six flags tho
the rides were big, that's what i remember (i was 2 or 3)
Universal Studios sucks ass and Islands of Adventure is the best theme park in Orlando
Dunno how Epic Universe holds up
Rip Action Park
universal and islands are usually a package deal so idk if Id call it ass
@near echo have you seen "light and magic" btw
Yeah but you hardly have the time in one day to do both so you're effectively paying for a weekend to see two parks
ET, MIB, The Mummy, and the Simpsons Ride are a nostalgic part of my childhood
Simpsons I like a lot
MCU current phase upto Thunderbolts
man if these are great characters introduced post End game, MCU is washed
No, adding it to the watchlist rn
have you seen it yet
MCU current ||i really like yelena more than natasha though, its not even close||
I'm pretty familiar with L&Ms history tho
Thunderbolts no
Stuff before that, yes
gotcha. Not disagreeing, just was curious if you had
MCU current ||liked the way john walker was written, and i like shang chi, no clue on sentry, i also liked how cool namor in the MCU was||
it doesnt cover it all, new season is coming soon though
Had to take something else off my watchlist to keep it at 300
MCU current || With just Falcon and Winter Soldiers, idc much about John Walker. Shangchi is pretty good. Namor is okay.
Is Yelena even a character? Is Hawkeye Successor eve a character? That's where I am at with then lol ||
MCU current ||gotta watch thunderbolts||
yeah true, the first howard the duck film is a certified lucas masterpiece
Labyrinth > Willow > Howard the Duck > Land Before Time > Return of the Jedi
I don't make the rules
this sucks
Also I haven't seen some of these movies I'm judging by vibes
this sucks even more
labyrinth > land before time > willow > return of the jedi > howard the duck
The two I haven't seen are willow and Howard so I'm glad I got the first hand experience ones in the right order
I keep meaning to watch Willow
I like the NES game
the leaves in land before time always looked really tasty to me
Tree Star Mukbang
knew i wasnt the only one
they drew those leaves like you could actually feel they were appetizing
The more I watch TLBT the more I think it's a perfect movie
Got no nostalgia for it either first saw it last year
it is, I wanna rewatch. When I was a kid I even liked the billion sequel movies but I know deep down they probably sucked
I was exposed exclusively to those and didn't like em at all but you don't have a choice as a kid with like 3 channels that show cartoons
Probably seen like 6 of the sequels
Cannot remember which ones

Kekekek
bros tryna start a controversy
hated them as a kid
did you watch the first one
First one is rad
The rest are Alpha & Omega sequels
This reminded me to log Dinosaur Adventure on letterboxd ty
gobelins shorts go hard
my god... you speak the ancient tongue
I've probably said this before but I feel like all oldschool pretentious anime fans either quietly fixate on indie animation, become genuine film snobs and outgrow their anime exclusivity, or just commit to watching Pretty Cure and Gundam
I've chosen my path
all 3
oh rei and juba were the pretty curers
juba??? its joever
Reis definitely #3 and doesn't know it yet
still in the oldschool pretentious anime phase then
although he paused gundam for natsume yuujinchou
real for that
He'd fit in perfectly on 4chans anime board 10 years ago
I know juba and I were there
Wonder if juba called me slurs once or twice back in the day
I liked it in spite of the toxic culture cuz it let me speak about super niche interests that were hard to find communities for at the time
i was never edgy 👼
Now I just get to be obnoxious to strangers on discord instead
He specifically says he was on 4chan arguing with people that they shouldn’t slur… if you can believe that…
4chan is dead....
I believe him with the sole exception of the Hunter x Hunter general
ay bro
I'm gonna stop rambling about nothing I have work in 6 hours and should probably sleep
Later guys
good night bon
goodnight bonathan
Later homie
Dr Who latest || I guess yeah, just feels like it didnt even need to be connected to Midnight but its w/e||
Dr Who latest ||I agree but I feel like the ending made it worth it||
Dr Who latest || yeah Ruby was a highlight for sure, even if I felt like that first half could've been better paced. I just thought the transition to her felt kinda jarring and I am not quite sure where this is leading towards for her character as the show moves forward and focuses on Belinda instead. And yeah I know theres a UNIT spinoff coming up, I guess the implications here might be addressed there. As for the Doctor, yeah this guy is a harmful idiot and somewhat of a grifter like Tate, but him showing up like that, just to tell Conrad how much he sucks was just strange to me. Like this is a guy who still genuinely believed that some of the stuff was lies, Idk if celebrating him rotting in prison forever is appropriate lol, I don't think he's this irredeemable scumbag, the Doctor doesnt even see the Master that way.||
||Conrad being free is intriguing though, guess he might be explored further after this||
||he is probs in the finale||
dr who latest || yea, probably part of the Mrs Flood's plan somehow||
MI 2 || Man the start of this will never not be amazing ||
|| What is this, Fast and Furious ||
|| Satellites don't move that fast ||
|| why are these mofo not wearing rubber masks ||
|| they are doing this so terribly ||
|| they have rubber masks !!!! Why are people trusting with just face||
|| So Ethan didn't warn her about rubber masks ?!?! BRUH||
U text like my mom
These are the movies I'm watching after I finish my HBO Max movie catalog. Managed to score Paramount+ for a dolllar, so why not.
Have you seen Sonic 1-2
yes
Yeah i have watched all of em.good movies i can say for sure
Deeply curious to see what Blue says about Life of Pi lol
MI2 ||pretty crazy how ethan is just a different person in this movie and none of the other movies reconciles that lol||
In what way?
I don't remember much of these movies other than like some scenes here and there
MI2 ||he's angrier, more divorced from the pragmatism of the first movie and the remaining movies, he's like a bond archetype with his coldness, its funny seeing this version of ethan and then every subsequent film||
Don't think I'd agree.
MI2 || Won't say he's angrier, other than like the end of it. Which like makes sense. I agree on pragmatism. One other difference was he was more attached and less composed than like first movie ||
|| Which I think is just the circumstances cuz I remember him being this way to Simon Pegg character || MI All
Hope next movie is where he enters the series though
not yet, sometime in the near future
might need to restart s2 tbh. got up to e6, then exams and projects started so had to put all media on hold

😭
GOLLUM THE GAME THE MOVIE LETS GO
they just refuse to adapt other tolkien stories
GOLLUM WON THE ARGUMENT
this movie could end up being decent atleast but my hopes aren't that high
Neither are mine but wtf is it with the release date, I’d rather a movie about Gollum than the series ..
You are supposed to spoiler tag even this?
yes
Damn
so it begins

watched this documentary today
fire of love
||maybe the most egregious example of over-narration I've ever seen||
||which sucked because it was interesting and visually amazing||
apparently they're remaking it into a film? is this happening more lately?
it's happening with smashing machine as well
Hold up
Fire of Loves been on my watchlist for ages
I've been considering finally seeing it lately
You think it's worth waiting?
Didn't know this was a thing
probably just worth watching both
Gotcha
I honestly wish I'd watched the documentary on mute
Lmao
I've been recently considering watching a criterion docu on Koko the Gorilla even tho its 2025 and Im very cynical about that experiment
Idk if the intrigue of the documentary will outweigh the real world frustration
Watching this now
I'll have thoughts in 85 minutes
I already agree with you on this
Incredible documentary done dirty by its lack of trust in the viewer
Aladdin or Mulan?
it feels like beyond that even, as if she thinks her narration adds to the artfulness of it
made me feel insane
I think it's annoying but the good qualities of this so far vastly outweigh the narration
The Renaissance films?
Mulan's a better movie but I personally have more nostalgia for Aladdin than most things on this Earth
Correct, bgm in Aladdin is better
I just watched both back to back
It’s also what you relate to more
I think Aladdin is helped by its comedic and adventurous tones
Movie fires on so many pistons it's all encompassing
It's so general in its appeal I've seen it probably 20 times
It's got its flaws and it can be shallow but i always come back to it
Mulan is a bit more specific. Because of that it's also easier to pick apart
aladdin is peak
I think atlantis is my favorite
I think they're both in my top ten
My favorite is sleeping beauty
Hold up I got a fuckin list for this
I’ll be the judge
I'm a big fan of Fantasia-likes
I think i remember there being one or two weaker shorts
Also I live with an opera singer and it helped give me a musical perspective on it
Fantasia ||the balrog short and the broom one are bviously iconic||
I remember other ones
I just dont know which one goes in 2000
Like there was hippo balerinas right
It’s almost surprising Pinocchio is a Disney movie
Yeah it's awesome
I like del toros slightly better tho
Bottom of the list for what it's worth
I saw frozen 2 at the first one at like 20th or smth
That needs to be lower bro
I know it was either rushed and i cant remember eveeyrhing but
I like Frozen 2 I'm its sole defender apparently
hopefuly rell seas comes out soon
It's half a point better than the first one
Id probably consider it a bit lower if it was the final film in the series but that was obvious never gonna be the case and they've already confirmed 3 and 4 in development
Frozen 2 better than 1 is mental
The first 30 minutes of 1 are a masterpiece
The rest of the film kinda sucks
2 hits it's highs much more regularly
I also love basically the entire soundtrack
Into the Unknown, Lost in the Woods, Show Yourself and Next Right Thing are all excellent
Might be my favorite Disney playlist next to Lion King
I need to rewatch it but frozen 2 ||i just remember anna and elsa especially acting so stupid in this movie ||
Just felt do dumb
I'll talk about this more later I wanna finish Fire of Love
Got 30 minutes left of that
The only time I feel something longing for romance is Aladdin
But yeah I'm regularly called crazy for liking Frozen 2 but I genuinely think it's in Disney's upper half
The innocence in that movie is pure
Mulan is definitely most badass princess
She was kicking ass in mulan
@young compass fire of love ||the narration about the unpredictability of volcanic eruptions definitely pushed my limit a bit good lord that was pretentious||
Okay I loved that
I agree with the problems you had but to me they felt like they awkwardly reinforced the power of the imagery and the story of these people instead of actively detracting from it
Which is lame? I wish it didn't feel a need to reassert the sheer scope of their lives and work. But they still speak for themselves
Which might be placing the found footage and subject matter over the actual documentary but like, that's a huge part of what makes it appealing right? Lol
that's the entirety of the documentary in this case, I don't think there's anything wrong with placing that above it
it's all pretty straight forward
we don't need more context
this was the worst bit yeah
Frozen 2 end ||to me that films main plot is negligible, I literally don't remember what the local conflict in the forest was. But as a way to build and mature the cast of Frozen 1? To actually make good word on the themes it employs and then haphazardly throws away halfway into the movie? I thought it was an incredibly thoughtful sequel
Throwing the weight of the romance onto Kristoff so he's the one pursuing Anna now, their one day romance becoming something he's been fighting to withhold. Anna learning to live without Elsa and let her go (lol) because she's her own human being and not a crutch to lean on. Elsa finally getting over her flirtations with independence and moving on from the childhood rebellion perspective on it she had in the first movie, seeking out her own heritage and learning exactly what she's looking for and what defines her. Let It Go with actual meaning behind it instead of a catchy beat.
The window dressing is memorable too. The elementals are funny and charming, and acknowledging Arendelle having a bloody history is pretty half assed but I appreciate it being there. Things like the gnomes and their parents gain retroactive appreciation because the second film contextualizes a lot of the idiotic parts of the first one that you can TELL are the result of a dozen rewrites leaving a ton of vestigial plotlines, I've fuckin heard the cut songs and know most of that for a fact. The golems make the gnomes cooler.
I love the cast of that movie. I love the musical that backs it, I regularly listen to the soundtrack. Maybe the sibling story just speaks to me personally as someone who kinda does relate to it a lot? Probably. But that film emotionally resonates with me in spite of its flaws, and I think it and Frozen 1 together are a lot better than the sum of their parts. They're next to each other cuz they elevate each other, the second act is just the one I like a little more so it's one rank above ||
||Olaf is superfluous in it, and there's a weird leap of logic where Anna's near death experience is kinda totally Elsa's fault? And the locals of the forest and their faux villain immediately lose all dramatic weight when Anna is like "this war is stupid" and they all nod. I'm aware of the weak main conflict and how it can feel silly when you take a step back and look at how it flows scene to scene
But that's not what the films about. It excels at the things it's trying to accomplish||
Tldr I'm a Disney kid and an apologist I guess sorry not sorry
we got essays about frozen 2 this disney shit is SERIOUS
Moana 2 ||this one actually sucks dogshit but it's clearly junk food for 6 year old girls and the relationship between the sisters is cute so I don't have strong feelings on it. Let the audience have it ||
Look I had 38 minutes for these thoughts to simmer
I’ll reply to them all soon lol I’m bowling

Beauty and the beast is really good
August or July
Rick and Morty better than even lots of animes
Watch good anime
rick solos goku
im pickle rick
funniest shit i've ever seen
Hercelus is second best Disney movie in 90s after Aladdin
I love cehercles
I prefer lion king, nightmare before christmas, and toy story

Is that controversial?
From where I’m from lion king is like the most beloved Disney movie ever
I assume he means out of disney made movies in which case only The Lion King counts
Lion King does mog hard tho
i love lion king but my favorite is sleeping beauty
Same
For the Renaissance films specifically I do like Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin more too lol but all these films are 9/10s
It's picking personal preferences and your personal nostalgia
And then you have Pocahontas as the ugly stepchild
I've never actually seen Rescuers Down Under huh
Always forget that's early Renaissance
Can’t remember much of sleeping beauty, can’t even remember if i ever watched it
i didnt appreciate it at all as a kid but rewatching it a few years ago i was blown away
Man took half a year to get to halfway
typical CoT experience
the slog is real
finished MI4
man even better than I remembered it to be
Definitive Mission Impossible movie.
Got everything these movies are great for in a more impactful way.
Great heists, great stunts (best in the series), great chase, great escalation of stakes, ending which has you giggling, and || even two great emotional scenes damn||
One thing though
Mission Impossible 4 ending || How does Hunt saving his wife really work though. She's still who she is, and her history with Hunt is still there.
I guess yeah clearing his records with her can really work tho yeah ||
One thing I don't really like about this franchise so far is
Mission Impossible All || Why the fuck are these agents using their actual names on field lol ||
brad bird has an insane resume
the iron giant, incredibles, MI4, ratatouille
Damn all bangers
he also has some duds (tomorrowland) but we dont talk about that
yo
Sinners kicked ass
my grandma took me to see the broadway play when I was really young and I got so scared that I cried and she had to take me to calm down outside the theater
its funny the really young memories that stay with us
I must've been like 3 or 4
Thunderbolts was kinda surprisingly awesome
Lmfao, I hope this was said 100% seriously
i got like 3 movies i gotta see after finals: Thunderbolts, sinners, MI
Watch sinners in IMAX first
not a movie person anymore except the hype/event stuff for theatres
will try if possible
This movie is starting to sound more and more like a mess
