waaaait
it ended like last year
maybe you're thinking of something else
shit i was thinking about this
batman the animated series || https://fixupx.com/CoolComicArt/status/1088615211479719936 ||
wow those boards are super clean for US productions
I have a number of storboard friends and they rarely ever get to do boards that tight
all those shows are good except smallville
get that soap opera trash outta there lol
smallville is awesome
it got too much filler
arrow was more enjoyable
for a similar type show
i need to get around to finishing doom patrol. i left off at s4 part 1 due to the long hiatus between season. but ill prob need to restart s4 lol.
smallville easily is better than arrow because it understood what makes superman tick despite its CW production requirements, it also looks so much better than a lot of modern day TV, arrow devolved into stupid histrionics after season 2
but anyway
the boys truly devolved into stupid bullshit with the second season itself
the first season was like lightning in a bottle
it might be but i wont know lol (I didnt get far with it and don't plan to as it got so many episodes). arrow is a really uneven show but its best seasons are rly fucking good and stuck with me
with the limited time i have,im reluctant to watch long series now
agents of shield is the only consistently good network tv superhero show
i was surprised how good it was after a weak s1
i'm happy with lightning in a bottle, sounds like heroes season 1 in that regards and i still love it
has some of the best mcu stuff
heroes also became trash after the first season yeah
it covered so many classic marvel plotlines and concepts very well
did a better secret invasion like story than the show, god secret invasion is so dogshit
heroes been on my watchlist since 2020 but i never got around to it
Grew up with Lois and Clark, it’s a classic
Superman and Lois is interesting, similar name but very diffrent
The Boys S1 Ep1 ||Wow, that was a phenomenal introduction to a new series. And shockingly brutal at points. Loved it. No complaints.||
I am definitely in the minority but I think season 1 was very meh. It was enjoyable for the most part but it felt like it could’ve been condensed drastically. First two episodes were good then it meandered for the rest of the season.
perhaps first law trilogy soon
Just a fair warning
It's more of a one book divided into three than trilogy of books
good to know!
The lines she has in the movie… goddamn
@wooden swift
Woah that's the dude from the leftovers
Yeah, from The Holdovers
ugh
Michael B Jordan must be stopped
excited to watch it after finals
probs gonna try to find the motivation to watch it solo on saturday lol
Going to the theater alone is the best
gonna buy my ticket last second to find a seat that isnt directly next to someone
You’ve never held hands with a stranger at the films before?
not a stranger at that point...
For a second I thought he was wearing a Star Trek: The Next Generation uniform 😭
Peak animation
prince of egypt ||that fuckin passover sequence is just etched in my mind||
Sinners round 2 either monday or Tuesday
After that i hope it lasts in Imax for a potential round 3 in imax
Poggies
Prince of Egypt is great
Got my nitpicks about it and I haven't seen Ten Commandments yet so I don't have a point of reference but its probably my favorite DreamWorks movie after HTTYD
Ten Commandments is a great epic
I prefer Prince of Egypt but The Ten Commandments goes hard too
Prince of Egypt ||I think what irks me about the middle of that film is the sections where it tries to feel more like a Disney film? The cartoonish fraud magicians tricking the Egyptian court into thinking parlor tricks are the work of the gods, Moses and Ramsès' in their childhood
It's a bit of tonal whiplash that I don't think suits the scope and stakes of the story. And kinda makes Egypt look foolish.
But also I get this is a version of the story trying to be presentable to kids without feeling like a PSA so I guess those are small sacrifices to make||
😔
He gets so high he doesn't even remember writing some books
11/22/63 be his best
Haven’t gotten around to it
I've only seen parts of the old Tim Curry It
The Green Mile was the last book of his that I read
And, surprise surprise, I disliked it
I had to read a book of his for an English class and it was pretty interesting
It's called on writing and it's about how he got started as a writer and the writing process
Yeah it's like very celebrated book in writing communities
on writing is considered to be a bonafide resource for writers, its quite helpful
prince of egypt ||oh yeah, those two fuckin priests and that dance number was cringe but it was anchored so well just a few seconds later by the scenes between moses and rameses i can forgive the film for that||
love these chapters, some of my favorites
Just announced in Hall H:
︀︀
︀︀Marvel Studios' Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, in theaters May 2, 2025. #SDCC2022
what the fuck
What in the world is going on LOL
That’s in a week
Wait i thought this was saying like a whole ass movie that was canceled was coming out in a week this post is like 2 years old bro
What are we saying what the fuck to
Adwd ||george on his way to write another child murder that you will be happy about what is wrong with this man ||
Adwd ||but yeah theons chapters are a standout in this book, and it seems like this last leg of dance is getting really good||
Oh shr
ADWD ||George does what Oda won't.||
is there like
some troll post going around somewhere
this tweet is two years old
I know right lmfao
NGL I was looking forward to Kang
Minecraft Movie || https://vxtwitter.com/jack840a/status/1915309727472640406?s=46&t=6hYY-27jdsmUDoUi-OiUWQ || @wooden swift
Here is Koichi Yamadera singing "Steve's Lava Chicken" song in the Minecraft Movie Japanese dub. (Akiyama VA from Yakuza/Prolific VA)
late april fools?
isnt thunderbolts releasing like the same week lmao
nvm saw the date
why would yall even share that lol
I had a killer time with season 1 of The Boys. I'll see how the rest holds up.
Sinners movie thoughts || Hailey steinfield is really hot, like seriously, could barely think of anything else and I don’t even particularly find woman attractive much. ||
Ok but really
Sinners || the movie is just ok, it’s not good and it’s not bad. It’s ok. It has a rather obvious political agenda that’s not really subtle, which is whatever, the characters are ok, Michael B Jordan is starting to make me feel the same way I feel when watching the rock, that is to say I’ll never watch a movie he stars in again. I think the first act was amazing and I was really hooked into it, and then it started fizzling out and when the Asian lady let the vampires and then forth. The brothers relationship felt very real and I loved it. Everything else was very meh, kinda almost felt like the story didn’t exactly know where it was going somewhere in the middle. The scene at the end with Michael B Jordan and just killing all the clan members was whatever I guess, didn’t feel much from it, the scene where he got to see his dead child and girl was heartwarming. By the end I was rooting for the white vampire villain guy to kill everyone. That’s kinda funny. The kid almost mc I forgot that fuckers name really was almost just kinda there, oh right preacher boy. I thought he’d do more. Anyway the lesson of the movie did seem to be that church is bad and follow your dreams or something like that. || 5/10
The large drinks were 10 dollars too what the fuck
11 dollar bucket of tasteless popcorn
Nah people are joking about how it was meant to come out next week had they stick with the original plan
they pivoted really well though
Bruh what do you anything about history
Let me get my review brb
😭
He has be trolling
Ain't no way he says it has a political agenda
One piece is legit woke

it is a political film
Same for one piece
what does this have to do with one piece
one piece doesn't have anything to do with this though so i dont see the point of this argument
The point of the argument is their username
i mean, i dont agree with ilya's point at all but your argument is just very weak in what its trying to illustrate
@sage remnant did you watch the new Who ep???
@modern lichen @undone junco @glacial jetty too
Not yet
Yea i figured but you never know currently
Quick show me where I complained about that
I think there’s supposed to be a period somewhere in that statement
“Illya critiqued the political agenda in Sinners. One Piece also has a political agenda (?) but Illya enjoys it.”
pretty bad counter, yeah
If he actually read what I said I didn’t actually critique the political agenda of sinners I was just indifferent to it
sinners is a great film because it balances the political and the epic narrative pretty well for me
Oh is that harsh
rip blade movie
Crazy how this aged like milk
- show cancelled
- shows ass
- cancelled role
- he’s just ass
Simu Liu was good in Shang Chi, fight me
Come on man
The biggest fumbles there are Blade and Jonathan Major, one was a Marvel fumble, the other one is a personal fumble (for being a massive cunt)
I’m glad Simu is getting a chance to do more with the newer Avengers, as much as I’m not fucking interested in that series
conclave end || cool movie, cinematography was great, but i think the ending was a bit weak with some very on the nose stuff. I think The Two Popes did the papacy election thing a lot better||
Conclave ending || what did you think of the philosophical discussion of what faith means in the movie ||
Conclave ending || especially with the events going on irl with the pope’s death, it forms a very interesting digression on the nature of holding onto faith in times where faith becomes a secondary aspect of existence even for the people who profess to be the most faithful, especially in an institution like the Catholic Church ||
Conclave movie || I fucking loved how comedic yet horrifying the vaping cardinal was, bro embodied that role well ||
I just like punching down on Simu Liu
Dang
But on a serious note, it’s a bit sad to see that movie not get a follow up. It’s been 4 years since the film came out
Marvel is getting its footing now I really enjoyed the new Captain America movie and I’m really looking forward to thunderbolts next week and F4 after that
Lmao I hated the new cap movie
I’m looking forward to Thunderbolts and FF though, those two look so good
mcu has way too many unresolved shit( there are still post cred scenes from phase 1-3 still with no follow up)
Why did you dislike the new cap movie?
Captain America 4 || aside from the brainiac design being well.. pretty dogshit by all means ||
i didnt care to watch it after hearing the reactions tho might watch it when it comes to streaming
New Cap movie || Very boring conspiracy thriller pastiche, I found the side characters absolutely boring to follow, Harrison Ford gets woefully misused (the maker should’ve been written better) and I hate the ending ||
He is??
What’s the new avengers
They’re integrating the X-Men into the films
conclave ending || i think watching it after the pope's death irl was definitely more interesting cause you kinda mirror it with the current real life events, and yeah its interesting to see how even a religious instituation is treated like a business and people have their own personal gain at the back of their minds, its kinda why i liked the idea of Lawrence not wanting to be pope (which i assumed he was going to become since he was the most "worthy" of it and with both the mexican guy's belif in him + the late Pope's machinations it was looking like he set up all of it so that Lawrence would win + it was repeated a few times in the movie that those who want it are the most dangerous/least worthy kinda thing) so when he decided to write his name down in that penultimate ballot and the window explodes like an act of god striking him down i was like "Cmon man", then followed by 1 speech from the mexican dude and suddenly everyone comes to their senses and votes for him + the "twist" at the end was just a very weak callback to Lawrence's own initial speech of the Church upholding values of diveristy and tolerance, and i think it kinda goes against part of the speech too with Lawrence hoping for a pope who has sinned but asks for forgiveness and carries on to be elected. I was initially expecting the mexican guy to deny the papacy even after elected and then tell Lawrence that he should still be the pope since he had always believed in him + if the guy everyone voted in says Lawrence should be the pope everyone else would probably follow suit (and after Lawrence gave in to sin and wrote his name down||
||in the final ballot he most likely voted for the mexican guy just like everyone else, and to me that would have represented him fully being ready to become the pope after sinning and then fully letting go of that desire to be pope that he caved in to out of circumstance/pressure), another thing i was expecting was that the mexican guy's health condition was something that would make him have a shorter life which would keep in with that other english priest's comment about how they are flawed servants who uphold an ideal yet they can never be ideal and in that case the "ideal" candidate was chosen but his flaw would have been that he could not remain on earth to see the papacy through but instead it ends with the mexican guy being presented as basically the perfect man at the perfect time which also ticks all the boxes for the church upholding its liberal values which Lawrence and Belini wanted. also as an extra note Tedesco was painted as this bad evil conservative dude but he had such little time on screen compared to the other cardinals he really felt like a nobody ||
holy wall of text 😂
they not starting them from scratch
I’ll respond to this a bit later but fair enough, Marc
everything ive heard bout conclave has me intrigued. will try to watch it summer break
i would recommend The Two Popes first
The Two Popes is based on real life Popes
yee
Marc post
I haven’t seen conclave yet tho
I don’t keep up with marvel
Is that what it is
There’s my answer
Lol
Right above my head

New cap movie || Harrison ford acting is for sure the strongest part of the movie. I didn’t care much for the thriller/mystery aspect but what I liked more was the build up for red-hulk coming out. We haven’t seen a hulk like this since Thor 3 so it’s a breath of fresh air from professor hulk
For me what I liked the most is just the film being “grounded.” Quotations because it still has fantastic elements, but overall it’s at least not dealing with the multiverse
Giancarlo is just typecasted again but he still does a pretty good job, and I like Anthony Mackie too. He’s growing into his role ||
dont blame u. as someone who used to watch everything mcu, i stopped keeping up after quantumania. now i only watch the stuff im interested in or has good reviews
Imagine not being private and never engaging with other users outside of retweets and likes
It got to a point in the chronology where I just hadn’t seen enough of the films to have a coherent understanding of how it all connected and I simply never worked myself up to the challenge of going back and watching them all
Especially considering I wasn’t really a big fan of what I had seen
These days it’s been a bit too aggressively bad lmao
New Andor has been so good
wanted to watch it one ep a week but they decided to dump all 3 at once so ill prob start after my sem ends
mistborn era 1 and stormlight oathbringer+ ||buddy is not odium 💔||
Seconding this! Probably the best Star Wars thing currently made since the original trilogy. It's very well written.
andor an extremely rare disney star wars W
disney star wars has more hits than people think
i havent outright hated any of the stuff i watched. most of them were enjoyable first watch but forgettable/mid (boba fett, kenobi, mando s3,etc)
andor would prob be up there with the best tv series all time if s2 ends strong
clone wars season 5, 6, 7, the mandalorian (especially season 1), rebels, bad batch, visions, tales of the jedi, rogue one, andor, ahsoka, skeleton crew (i havent watched that yet but heard good things), kenobi (i dont like it but it was a hit amongst most audiences)
dude, clone wars is my favorite star wars media. got so many good lore, great fights, worldbuilding
rebels was great too. it was a surprise hit for me. i thought i wouldnt like it based on the animation style
i love clone wars but andor is the best thing to come from the franchise since empire strikes back
and i think rogue one is mediocre, andor is far and above my favorite star wars property
my top 3 non movies SW media: clone wars, andor, mando s1-2
rebels prob 4th
filoni rly good at the animated SW stuff
For Mistborn?
yeah
Finally Wind and Truth then?
yes after I finish rereading the first 4 books
maybe I should've waited till I was about to finish rhythm of war to give you a progress update

The latest DW ep is so goated
Watching Gremlins 2
Gremlins 2 was fun. || It was crazy and wacky like the first movie, but even more chaotic. Kinda wish Gizmo did more badass things than just shooting an arrow at the evil creatures, but otherwise I enjoyed it. That ending was even more terrifying than the first with multiple evil minions decomposing from the lighting. It's frightening imagery.||
/mangawhere!
so many of the little gray people in my gallery
Avengers Endgame
man this is why I love watching RLM, they have some great recommendations
RLM
RLM
red letter media
they were talking about a movie called psycho therapy and I was hooked from just the premise lol
has season 2 been as good as season 1?
I havent watched season 1 but still curious
the first 3 episodes have been out and they're great
but the season's structure is different
the release schedule is like arcane
Didn't know you have watched Star Wars
Im a 29 year old that lives in america. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone here that hasnt watched star wars lol
my dad got me on it when I was young
I dont like star wars
but I have watched it
I did excitedly watch star wars episode 3 with him in 3rd grade
in theaters
Ah yeah makes sense
😔
i remember watching the dark knight in imax
back when my city had the only 70mm imax screen in the country.....
I think Ive only seen one movie in imax before
and its readily available for me
but I just go to the local theater
we used to have a really cozy theater here when I was a kid
only had 4 auditoriums
it shut down 20 years ago but it was nice
actually star wars episode 3 mightve been one of the last things I watched there
I think the simpsons movie was THE last thing I watched there
Good movies haven't released in theatres near me, or have been released when I couldn't go to it.
The last movie I watched there was Deadpool Wolverine
so yeah still no good movies it seems
get excited for avengers!!
Hopefully now my irl friends have also fallen out of MCU hype
So won't have to go...
they just stopped inviting me to see the marvel stuff cause I never like it lol
but its also the only movies they really watch
hated watching nosferatu in the cinema because people are so fucking stupid inside the hall
cant hear the hall in most theaters we have here
Rlm is a blast lol
Book of the New sun
@modern lichen ...and can't find Archer
Ive read this
The first 6 pages that is
There it is
3 episodes every week
Im too stupid for it ngl
for 4 weeks
You could read till some part and then reread from start
And do that way
You haven't even read a cosmere novel since RoW
Ive read the first 80 pages of book 5...
Killing me bro lmao, bro even replied with a clip that’s like an explainer and people are still cooking him
Sinners was such a good movie, oh. my. fucking. god.
i wanna go see it again
best horror movie i've seen in a while
not since hereditary or Us
Omg I should watch Hereditary again too
well i know what i'm about to do
i dont rly watch the horror genre but im interested nonetheless
liked all of cooglers works ive seen
I'll be watching Blue Velvet next
lmao have fun
I'm starting got
now you can keep waiting like everyone else
not me tho I just gave up
Oh my fucking god
I watched it last night
Dr Who latest episode || my heart fucking jumped when they named the planet ||
how close are you?
Adwd all i have left
Adwd end|| i have been spoiled on the epilogue tho :( ||
Books or show
Finished Blue Velvet ||Lynch can definitely write an unstable and unpredictable psycho, that's for sure. The antagonist's behavior, victims, and the case surrounding him kept me on my toes on what was gonna happen next. I liked this. I was spooked. ||
And right after i finish adwd im starting stormlight archive
Nah, but I do have the first book owned and plan to start it sometime in the future
Tomorrow I'll see Ratcatcher
Did you like it
@glacial jetty
Doctor who latest ||Also the ending||
I've already seen it twice, opening night and last Thursday
I already knew it was going to be good
damn. well enjoy what you have until then. screw whoever spoiled you.
Man, I miss the pre-Disney Star Wars
I grew up on that shit & fell in love with that universe for a good long while
The sequel trilogy sapped that love out of me tbh
Just accidentally stumbled on it
straight peak
I'm probably gonna go see it again on tuesday
i need to
i been listening to the soundtrack on Spotify and every damn song is a bop
Mid archives
Read "I have No Mouth and I must Scream" Wombat
I'm gonna watch Speed (1994)
is there a new speed?
This movie's OST is truly Metal Gear like
I know essentially the whole plot but i know its hella short so ill give it a chance
I have uh
House of leaves on my to read list
This movie knows to be so tense man
Asoiaf to house of leaves...
Is this a good or bad thing lol
And I’m not reading it right away
After a couple other books
I tried to take that out of the library but it had so many holds I only had like 2 weeks to read it and the book was such a fuckin tome id rather just buy it
Took out The Last Unicorn the other day instead
Speed 1994 ||was a really intense movie that had me on edge for a large chunk of the movie. Fun action thriller. ❤️🔥Very impressed how a director can make a movie mostly set in a bus so interesting. Good ending too, I too would probably kiss the woman that I saved and contributed to an intense rescue, if I was in Jack's shoes. I probably would have aged quickly and have silver hair in the aftermath tho. 😂 ||
spoiler tag
@brave orbit watched the latest doctor who episode
Yoooo
doctor who latest episode/series 4 ||nice return for midnight in this episode but i think the tension of the first part was just next level compared to this one||
Yea for sure
still a very entertaining episode
Doctor who latest ||This could have been 2 parts easily tbh||
doctor who latest ||i'm liking how they're making belinda interact a whole lot more with the doctor and staying on them, in response to the criticism that they "intended" rather than show ruby and the doctor's bond strengthen, the dynamic with belinda is far more entertaining too for me||
Doctor who latest ||Did you like the ending?||
doctor who latest ||i enjoyed the episode throughout||
Nice
Saw Sinners a second time, just as good on a second viewing
I’m sad theres gonna be a day i can’t rewatch this in theatres whenever i want
Andor S1 || https://youtu.be/aoJILDr94qc?feature=shared || this show is something special

I watched the hell out of the VHS for this as a child. I have no idea how well it holds up to adult me though. And I was super excited as a kid when Speed 2 came out - I think I watched it a ton on HBO or something when it released there.
Anyone that’s watched Sinners I have a question
Sinners movie || the subcontext in the movie was that Mary was one of Stack’s hoes right? My friend is treating me like I’m crazy ||
I need validation
sinners ||stack and marie were in love||
sinners ||its not subtext, its clearly stated in the text itself, mary was stack's ex-girlfriend||
Sinners ||no doubt they loved each other, but I never quite saw it as them being ex-girlfriend/boyfriend, at least I don’t remember it being said. They grew up with each other and with the way their relationship sounded and tapered off, as well as Smoke mentioning earlier that him and Stack were in the prostitution business, Pimps that is, and during the conversation at the party his line where he’s like “I taught you how to fight and taught you how to walk away when the money’s up” I saw it as a pimp/prostitute love story. Maybe I’m looking at it wrong idk. ||
sinners ||mary's mother almost raised stack and smoke, no way it was a prostitution thing||
sinners ||just because he taught her to defend herself, i dont see as something that comes with prostitution, the twins left and stack left behind mary when he went with smoke to WW1||
Sinners ||I wasn’t just thinking of the “taught you how to fight” it was more in conjunction with the “I taught you how to leave when the money is up” and her “let me go get this money for us” as well as Stack “finding her a husband to marry” as well as Stack being a former pimp, though as I’m saying it now it does sound a little silly. Maybe I’m thinking too deeply into it||
Sinners || i heavily doubt she was a prostitute when they both knew her mom and she only died after they left.||
sinners ||she was married to a white man because she could pass as white, there is a gap here but i dont think there was any type of allusion to it being related to prostitution rather than it being something related to being black in that area and at that time and passing as white like she did, she is biracial after all but identified more with her black heritage ||
i should see Sinners I'm guessing. the trailer already intrigued me. guess I'll bite the bullet.
Should have seen it yesterday
yeah, i think i know what I'm doing this weekend
did you know you get dumber after they're removed?
it was nice knowing the current you, Evan.
@limber urchin adwd|| that prose when quentyn is trying to kidnap the dragons and how george describes and writes the dragons is so damn good my lord. Standout chapter for that alone||
ADWD ||Just want to be clear, how does this chapter end?||
Adwd ||with quentyn being burned alive lol||
I finished the books
It is done
All 5 (no fire and blood included) a song of ice and fire books finished
I will read fire and blood when winds release date gets announced
Adwd end ||i knew that varys was gonna kill Kevan but i didnt know he would kill pycelle ||
ok then yeah that's what I thought it was. love that moment.
Congrats Wombat. I still have not read the side books myself even though I own Fire and Blood.
I hear the Dunk and Egg novellas are solid though.
Adwd end just|| the way he wrote it made the whole scene so menacing like it was almost out of a horror book or something lol ||
This is the first book series i have read since like sophmore year and i only read the scythe books then and I cant remember the last books i read before that
But now I’m ready to start reading more i want to
Its a cool feeling
I finished these and i want to start another book
i'm not the best at recommending books since it's a medium i haven't spend as much time on as others
i'm reading The Name of the Wind myself at nights right now
and then it will probably be Frakenstein afterwards. I still need to read China Rich Girlfriend one day
The Gambler by Fyodor Dostoevsky next
have you read anything else of his
if you're not a fanatic im surprised you're even bothering reading that one
Sinners || I don’t take her as white passing, to me she was just white. I think they said she her grandfather was half black right? Well the movie takes place during Jim Crow era which means her grandfathers was likely conceived by a white man and a black woman (who was probably his slave, just a guess). If that child then married a white women, then the family is living in a white society. And then had another child (either her mom or dad) then married another white again. That’s still living in a white society and being perceived as white. So I don’t understand why people see her as black passing as white, when she looks white and her family has been living a white society. Perhaps she is white passing as black, but I don’t understand why people are saying she white passing. ||
And I say this cause I know you’ve seen Passing || where the woman is black but light enough to pass as white ||
I have not read anything Dostoevsky before i just saw it in half priced books and saw it was about gambling lol
And so i got it
Because gambling is awesome!!!!!!!
And a book that uses the device of gambling could be awesome!!!!!
I didn’t even know he made crime and punishment until after I got the book lol
It will be like a 2 day read at most so even if its boring it cant be that bad
Hella short
it's not boring, you just might be confused
How so
the gambler ||it's kind of like a condensed dostoevsky story, where all the marquee elements of his style are there but everything else is stripped pretty bare. so if you're not used to it, it might be overwhelming at first with all the random crazy ass characters. youll be fine probably||
watched both infinity war and endgame for the first time, fucking fun as hell
what would be your read order
just chronological?
Dostoevsky verse
Infinity war was better in my opinion though what did you think?

I think starting from any novel should work
And I disagree with Juba there. I don't think it would be overwhelming or confusinf
just to read brothers karamazov which is also his best, then go into the rest of his works
I find him hit or miss mostly for me
i mean yeah i guess
C&P a miss?
yes
Damn
so is demons
oh wow
i mean i was just curious
i actually tried to start with brothers k but i couldnt get very far since it was just massive
and then i read crime and punishment and loved it, then went back and finished brothers k
is brothers k that much longer?
i dont recall lol
remembered them being similar lenghts
verrry
to me it was anyway
well, a little more than 2x as long
i guess it depends on the translation you read
the one i read of tbk was 936
crime and punishment 720
Yo where do y'all read your manga
I don't care for his ideology for the most part
i didnt even finish that book and i recall it being rather light
Not Just a Goof continues the recent Disney trend of actually making pretty interesting behind the scenes documentaries that can't help but kiss the studios ass for 15 minutes near the end just so all the funny production stories don't ruin the perfect Disney brand magic
Enjoyed watching it but god get over yourself for a minute anyone watching this has already poured money into it
How the fuck was Jeffrey Katzenberg of all people the hero of this production
both are pretty good
though I like endgame more because the wounds of the civil war finally healed
The show
Killer instincts. Zero social skills.

Going to see Sinners in IMAX later
Still having a great time with The Boys deep into season 2
The quality does decrease but I still has a great time till the latest seasom
btw you can't fucking choose an episode list on PC with Amazon Prime. What fucking MORON forgot to design that into the UI. I use Edge, but apparently it's that way with Chrome, as well. Multi-billion dollar company btw.
Piracy wins yay
i will happily torrent it just out of spite, but my wife pays for Prime so I just chose that by default
The Boys season 2 question ||Is Stormfront supposed to be an on-the-nose metaphor for the alt-right and/or neo-nazi Stormfront website?||
the boys season 2 ||stormfront is a straight up nazi||
episode 7. can i read these?
Mine yes.
Harsh's I am not sure
I am not sure whether the part he says has already come up or not
ok i can see that they're trying to do a The Boys season 2 ||very obvious Donald Trump and Steve Banon thing with Stormfront and Homelander. I still like it despite how heavy handed it is. They make good villains, though Stormfront is almost comically racist.||
Quicksilver 70% || Man if only this book has the level of writing it has during smut part with other stuff... ||
read good books
Buffy has already read from OB to WaT and even 2 seasons of The Boys
And I still can't finish this shit
It's so boring
😭
I have monk and robot book 2 after this so that's nice

I'm also almost 300 pages into The Name of the Wind.
Liking it?
It's OK.
the name of the wind has great prose but ||kvothe is such an annoying piece of shit||
I'm curious what made it so famous so fast. 'Cause so far, it's kind of a slow drag. But I also don't hate it. I still want to finish it.
It's more so the prose and the world and magic system that got it famous
The MC is very hit or miss
I did enjoy him but I am not sure I would do that now
OK. So far, the world just feels like any generic fantasy world. And the prose is decent. The MC I'm cool with. And I guess I have yet to get to the magic system. I'm guessing the fantasy world gets more exciting later.
Yeah it gets more exciting soon
|| The most impressive thing about the prose is how intentional it feels. It feels like almost every single word is incredibly deliberate and carries far more meaning than just its apparent function in that specific sentence or scene, almost everything loops back in on itself and the most seemingly innocuous passages that just seem to exist to be functional for a scene often end up having lots of layered meanings. ||
Name of the Wind general
It's compared to Bradbury a lot, but I think that isn't a really apt comparison
OK I'll keep a very careful watch on the prose going forward.
|| For magic and world and etc, it gets really good once you get to University || name of the wind
ok yeah i'm definitely not there yet, but the current chapters are hinting at it
It will probably not be finished as the overarching story hasn't progressed to the extent that everything can be finished in a third book
Unless it's like a 2000+ page book
It's so irritating cuz this trilogy was advertised as having already been written when the first book was being released
does he just not write, or is he doing other stuff and wrote a series too complex like GRRM?
The last book was released before the last entry of Asoiaf btw
I think he wrote a short novella in that world after it. I don't remember when the novella was released. But he does DnD streams regularly I think
Did he make enough money to where it naturally made him too lazy to want to continue?
He has been part of well some real controversies
But he does get shit for that too lol
He had told he would release a chapter of the third book as a part of charity campaign
jesus
And well didn't deliver it
well, he's a lesson every can learn from
yeah you sent it to me, it was very fun
Oh uh
Ok I didn't expect that ig
oh nice

Murderbot premieres May 16 on Apple TV+ https://apple.co/_murderbot
In a high-tech future, a rogue security robot (Alexander Skarsgård) secretly gains free will. To stay hidden, it reluctantly joins a new mission protecting scientists on a dangerous planet…even though it just wants to binge soap operas....
I mean yea the show is not really being subtle about any of their agenda
Thunderbolts actually had a good creative team so this is not a surprise to me anymore
funnily enough I think in s3 or something there was some outrage when some fans actually caught up
like they watched 2 whole seaons and only now they realize they being made fun of
the amount of people who missed the point The Boys was making when it was so blatant in its telling
😭
Kripke had to make it extra clear so that the idiots could understand the show was calling them idiots
Yeah, for sure, I think this one just stood out like a sore thumb among the rest.
Media literacy is dead
fuck you don't even really need media literacy for this show. it's not exactly subtle lol
Yeah lmao
but holy shit season 2 episode 7 The Boys ||The head explosions in the courtroom were wild||
woahh
The Peasant fifth season
This sounds rad
@modern lichen
You season 5
The first trailer for Zach Cregger’s ‘WEAPONS’ has been released.
The film follows a classroom of children who get out of their beds and disappear one night without a trace.
In theaters on August 8. https://t.co/OE3KK6eFno
getting Brolin in his second movie is insane
Ehhhh I see but I like infinity war because of intensity of battle
@dim hedge spoiler tags are needed in here
Np
So many good movies this year
Don’t be sorry, be better
Picked up house of leaves at half priced books
The Boys, season 2 episode 8 ||The fact Homelander was scratching his head once Stormfront just spelled out "white genocide" was pretty fucking funny. ||
i had a feeling itd do well. test screening was good
WOM will prevent it from flopping at box office
This movie is lowkey being set up to look like a success story for marvel and I’m surprised its the Thunderbolts of all things lol
I’m going to see it with my girl this week
Sinners ||Yeah definitely a really good movie. I’m starting to become a sucker for any movie that has a lot of soul and theatricality to it because they’re the only thing standing between slop and art. And I really loved how the vampire aesthetic is more of a background element to create atmosphere and the core of the movie is more to do with culture and music. Very good film||
The Boys season 3 episode 1 ||That has to be one of the most ridiculous and brutal openings I've seen in anything ever. Like the studio is just trying to see what they can get away with.||
Sinners ||the vampires are also tied directly to cultural appropriation and the themes of the story when you considering ramik had a similar experience to people in the south. It's very interesting once he threw that line about his father's land being taken. And all he wants is to see his family again.||
Sinners|| but also just a both Irish and African American cultures using music to cope with hardships.||
Beef writers saved it
Literally the goats
Them and everyone who cared
Those early dogshit trailers
😭
Some Oscar voters have said they just press play on their screeners app to satisfy the viewing requirements and then mute the audio or switch tabs.
“The app only needs to see that you watched it. It doesn’t know if you’re sitting there.”
(Source: https://t.co/pxXR37FDJ1)
brother
Peak minimum amount of effort
watching thunderbolts* tonight
I dont get it
watching a movie is so easy
you sit there for a fuckin hour and a half
its not some week long commitment
there's like 10k oscar voters
god forbid youre bored, sit there with your phone
i bet you at least 500-1000 are people who like
knew someone and got it
and are so invested in the holywood social climbing environment that "being an oscar voter" is an insignificant status point
so they just don't care
Sinners ||Yeah very interesting. Not surprising that my two favorite scenes from the film were the musical sequences that epitomised this aspect the most (the cross-generational Black music sequence and then the Irish song from the vampires). Also the cinematography in this movie was insane. Especially the lighting||
Sinners||the film actually felt like event honestly. The first half really is an excellent period piece and the 2nd a great vampire story that ties into what the first half sets up. They fuse perfectly together like both those musical set pieces. The editing is absolutely on point. When everything seems to be going well ramik abruptly appears mid edit burning into frame. I will say I'm a little partial to the vampire song because it was so haunting. But I loved the ending too and the final stand.||
there's only 1 theater near me that shows it with the 70mm film version
and its completely sold out today and tomorrow
my dad told me to hold off to see it with him cuz hes interested in it but hes been sick so we havent been able to go
scared that once hes better itll be removed for more minecraft showings
we missed Mickey 17 too
Sinner ||the only sin was watching this movie. 2/5 just cuz Michael b Jordan was there||
Guess I’m just lucky living in California but I can go like 4 months post premier and still catch a movie
andor 2x4 ||this show is playing at so many different layers of intensity, its insane, from the effects of PTSD to the dissolution of democratic thinking in an authoritarian dictatorship due to fear and threat, amazing stuff written so fucking well||
alien covenant I can okay
but nah Prometheus is peak
Prometheus fucked around with the lore
Way too much
but the conceptuality of it all and the whole intro had me like YES
Thankfully romulus ||dumpster what prometheus was trying to set up.|| alien romulus spoilers
Intro is a funny meme
I'm just a big fan of actual alien
Never forgiving lindelof for that Sabotage job
Spoilers for Romulus, yeah that was a whole pack of ass ||what Prometheus was tryna setup did not fruition at all lol, mfs went the old direction with aliens inside spaceship tweakin and killin kinda mid||
original Alien series just TOOO peak even AVP, the Predator franchise movies.
||I'm happy romulus made it clear. The xenomorph is the origin of the black goo and it came before the engineers.|| alien romulus
Thank fuck ridley Scott dint get his way
Predator and alien are healthy again
opposite
Thanks to prey and romulus
Nah movie says otherwise
😭
Thanks ? idk about that cause to me Romulus was not that peak, had they ||gone the route of the early movies that would have been okay.||
Its healthy to do hathor
||its keeps the xenomorphs as a unknown again instead of explained as some weapon.|| alien romulus
Nah ||the black goo is what the ENGINEERS used to make a few variants - protomorphs, neomorphs and later on Xenomorph which I think u posted before in that gif||
||the movie says the black goo is made from the xenomorphs not that the xenos were made from it.|| alien romulus
They weren't ||bioengineered.||
||the reason everything evolves back into something xenomorph related is because that's the original form.|| alien romulus spoilers
I see what you tryna gas yeah that direction would be good as well ||but afaik even in Prometheus they did uncover that the black goo and the alien variants it produces are nothing more than creations for the sake of destroying a civilization ykwim they were finna launch it all to Earth just exactly a weapon, doesn't necessarily mean the origin is still know (it might have more lore to it) I might have to check Romulus again ig only thing I remember is stuff about the hybrid creature - Offspring and no alterations about what the black goo is from what was established back in prometheus|| Prometheus, Romulus spoiler
btw u have watched Alien Covenant too right ?
Yeah no ||ash makes it clear that the black goo comes directly from the xenomorph. That's why they perfectly replicated it for romulus. What David did was try to reverse engineer a temu version. But the black goo is just how they reproduce with a host and they just basically weaponized it for their own porpuses.|| alien romulus and prometheus
Its mentioned during the ||vial scene in romulus.|| alien romulus spoiler.
I had to watch it to hate it
😭
It makes sense why they ||worship the perfect organism that can adapt to anything and try to extract its DNA for religious reasons.|| prometheus and alien romulus spoilers.
NAH tbf ||Ash was obsessed with this whole thing of the perfect organism - Xenomorph
made her tweak a whole lot abt that stuff, imo what we see in Prometheus is more accurate that the Engineers (like literally the creator and their people) must have been the ones to *engineer * the black goo to form the aliens that I mentioned earlier including yes "perfect organism" as weapons or could also be for other unknown purposes maybe they wanna have these go on destroy a civilization then evolve on their own or something idk. I might peep the originals once more just to get back to you lmao.||
alien, prometheus, romulus ||word exactly this obsession. Tryna project it into something it is not.||
I gotta heavily disagree.||it doesn't make sense they'd worship man made weapons as gods. It comes to reason they encountered them naturally and it's not suprising when. To me the xenomorph is an ancient alien. The ultimate surviver and killer of the galaxy that will still be around long after humans. And trying to explain it as some alien made creation dimishes it for me tbh. It's cosmic horror and shouldn't be explained as made by something. Ash and the rest are just lenses to show how insane it is that a being like this exists tldr i dont think the big gray dudes made the black goo when its naturally produced and can be used to perfectly make more. Its just a process they can do naturally|| alien romulus spoilers
this one so easy ||think of primordial gods LMAO - what do they worship ? fire, lightning, sea etc .. ? (in some cultures even Lion, Elephant animals etc) why cause they worship calamities and what they fear. Would make perfect sense why they would start worshipping these Xenomorph creatures as the perfect lifeform that can survive anything and consume them. Also cause of what you said except it's made by the Engineers😭 blud they are Aliens too fyi. Just think of them as predecessors tbh cause they do infuse their own DNA into these creatures. Worship in a lot of cultures is simply meant as appeasement towards whatever deity they are worshipping, for example when they worshipped the God Zeus in Anceint Greece it was simply to appease him to not have it rain and thunder and rage and to calm him down and save their crops and harvest. || alien, romulus
done with andor's recent batch
yeah this show is one of the best shows of all time already
Ive never seen someone have so much to say about alien
Alien do be good fr
I’m gonna have a lot to say about Godzilla once I’m done rewatching the entire Toho franchise
Bruh
I’m starting tonight
OK so season 2 just as good as season 1 then?
You need to watch EVERY single movie that cameos in Destroy All Monsters or you're a fraud
Go big or go home
Real
So Rodan, Ghidorah, Angurius, and Minilla?
Ez
Yes
Half of the season is done and the quality is just so high in everything, its one of the best TV shows ever made in general imo
good good i will need to be watching this for sure
Frankenstein Conquers the World, Atragon, and King Kong Escapes too
Btw watch Monarch too
I’ll make a comprehensive list
Preferably in chronological order, relative to release
So cool
Monarch lowkey better than every Monsterverse movie
1998 Godzilla>
I’m talking about the English monsterverse
Which Monarch belongs to
Then ye
Starting from 2014 Godzilla
The movies have been shittier and shittier
Godzilla and Kong was fucking hilarious
Godzilla X Kong (or w/e the last one was called) was so disappointing
I thoroughly enjoyed King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs Kong. 2014 and the latest one, however, not so much. Though I still have to admit the 2014 halo jump trailer is still my favorite trailer of most things I've seen.
The Boys season 3 question ||Did the actress playing Starlight get plastic surgery? She looks different or something, or am I crazy?||
2014 is my favorite of the bunch followed by king of monsters
She did
OK so my eyes did not deceive me. Old age has not won yet.
Yeah she looks real bad
Man, the amount of plastic surgery I see out here is not super high, but it's noticeable enough to make you question the people you're surrounded by. I assume it's that way in the Bay Area too?
not anymore since i'm work from home. these are just everyday people I'm thinking about. mostly the generic 30-50 year old house mom stereotype.
people cooked tf out of her in social media it was bad
she was kinda bummed for a bit feels like they went too far
some personal problems apparently
i'm not one to judge someone based on their appearance like that anyway
just watched thunderbolts*
watching it in a few days
damn that's some poster
Best horror film of the year
Whoa ShANKS!!!
I'm going to watch Hundreds of Beavers
oh its the dude from stargate
without context, this is pretty funny.

She's nice. You'll like her.
This really is live action looney tunes
Saw Hundreds of Beavers
- gynecologist after a week of tireless work

is anyone here watching étoile
i’m contractually obligated to recommend it to people
looked it up, reviews are saying its a cringey mess
Leave the good films to be liked by actual cool people
???
I’m hella cool
Thank you very much
It was a pretty movie
Lost in translation ||also i mean im not Japanese but this felt like, lowkey racist??? 😭 ||
WTF
SCARLETT JOHANSON IS 17 IN THAT MOVIE?
LOST IN TRANSLATION ||THAT IS SO MUCH WORSE ||
?????
starring tom holland as patrick bateman
probably not
Lost in translation|| bill Murray spends like half the movie rolling his eyes at japanese people tryna speak english idk bro and i get theres a level of communication that will be hard its just like a bit much lol||
Even without this point
Its still a boring movie
Star Wars/Andor || https://x.com/ethiobirds/status/1917710466249277604?s=46 ||
Cooking in the kitchen
Id spoilers this just incase
Just gonna delete incase
But next time just || the link
If it's got plot details like that
Better save than sorry
with series name outside too
I will be watching the Mission Impossible movies in close proximity to Mission Impossible 8. I've wanted to check this movie series out for a while and I heard it was concluding soon, so I'm interesting.
damn didn't know it was concluding with 8 part 2
@modern lichen
beautiful lesbian couple
gonna watch thunderbolts later this weekend
Sicily
Historically accurate
Based Nolan
same
esp cause I liked Black Widow 2021 and the dynamics show in it.
Have only been seeing people shitting on it on reddit lol
It’s really bad
I mean thunderbolts
have you checked out The Tainted Cup harsh
Yeah a Holmes-watson style dyanamic and mystery set in a fantasy world
Oh sweet I’ll add it to my book list
It got a sequel this year
Nice
Books 2025 (10/20):

- Wind and Truth - Brandon Sanderson
- ~~ The Magicians trilogy - Lev Grossman (3/3) ~~

this is how it looks
currently
the bright sword is still my favorite of the year, grossman is such an awesome writer
I have finished two, Quicksilver and Big four
halfway through Blood sweat and pixels
oh wait had finished King In Yellow too
so 3 and half
gonna do either Hyperion or the Ishiguro one next
Kieran Culkin could make awards history.
Having just earned an Emmy for his turn in #Succession and an Oscar for his performance in “A Real Pain,” Culkin is now generating Tony buzz for his Broadway debut — and could be on track to complete the elusive Triple Crown of Acting (Emmy, Oscar, and Tony) in just 18 months.
If he pulls it off, Culkin would break the record previously held by Paul Scofield, who achieved the feat over a span of seven years. https://t.co/jwBWLLN7lh
@sage remnant this is what my list looks like so far, pretty concrete i think for now
includes all the ones i finished
nicee
RJB has some older series that I want to check out, which I think you would probably like too
Foundryside being the one in priority
What sold me on this was || Magic system being essentially programming || Foundryside
and sando giving it a 5/5
i've heard of foundryside
Loving the focus on classic mystery stories coming to fantasy tho
Tainted cup
Murder on Spindle Manor
Yeah murder at spindle Manor is whodunnit in a fantasy setting
they're the joy of life
need to get to that
I so hate writing reviews.
Writing one for Quicksilver and it's already 3000 words
I can't write concise reviews :kekhands:
why are you writing reviews for hot garbage
I read it for bingo in another server, and like they require reviews
I think it was a minimal of 300 words one, but I quickly went way past that before realizing and now I would rather finish writing a proper one
Zhahahahah
You season 5 || the tim cheese song in season 5 was hilarious ||
Die Hard is still the best christmas Movie
just finished watching thunderbolts
thunderbolts movie ||genuinely a great film, I was little worried they'd mess up sentry/bob but they did a pretty good job with it. Lewis pullman pulled off the role really well||
thunderbolts movie ||I was surprised to see them spoil the end of the fantastic four movie that blatantly in the post credit but it was kinda what i expected when i saw theyd be in doomsday||
||yeah and I feel like they needed something like this to build general audience hype||
whats the post credit I aint watching that shit ass movie
thunderbolts movie ||fantastic four's ship shows up above earth||
that it?
chicken jockey
Also post cred scene ||new avengers 14 months after the end of thunderbolts. There’s an issue with them having the name vs captain America’s group having the name||
I think it’s that part that’s equally exciting
thunderbolts movie post cred ||I kinda expected itd be a new avengers twist with the asterisk but im interested to see where they go with the two conflicting groups||
thunderbolts movie ||my only real complaints are that I wish we got to see a bit more of the bob/sentry/void dynamic, and the other group members not getting their own flashbacks in the void||
thunderbolts ||yeah the asterisk new avengers and taskmaster death were kinda evident in the marketing, but i like they handled it in the movie. taskmaster getting suddenly headshot by ghost was sick and the surprise from val at the end was a nice callback to earlier projects||
thunderbolts post credit ||so i assume their universe is destroyed?||
also thunderbolts post credit ||seems like its civil war all over again with buckys team working under the government and sam's team refusing. Maybe we will also get another team with spidey young avengers||
I wish they did the Baron Zemo Thunderbolts
its an action movie released in 1988 starring Bruce Willis
Watching thunderbolts tonight at 11:30 in IMAX tonight because all they had was 8:30 and 11:30 lol
watching an indie film in imax? uh wtf...
Fax
So glad to support an indie studio
You're watching it tonight in IMAX tonight?
the screening of it i saw yesterday was the first imax movie i'd ever seen
though its been so long since ive been to a cinema i cant tell if there was a noticeable improvement lol
i think my theatre used laser imax? but the visuals were definitely pretty nice
thunderbolts ||the opening goes hard||
Sinners || https://x.com/rocco_botte/status/1916977290980036742 ||
booked my ticket now
Sinners ||My friend went on a date and watched this film, he is a little bit conservative snd said he didnt like it at all, now I understand why lmao||
Lowkey once you go imax you can’t go back
Thunderbolts was good
Man when that superman trailer played beforehand
Pumped for that
Looks so damn good
If fantastic four ends up being good we may be back
And i believe it will be
FANNNNTASSSTIC FOURRRRR
Thunderbolts ||so nice to have what just feels like a solid good marvel movie, and even though the message is as on nose as it literally ever possibly could be, I’m so glad it was sincere and it rarely undercut itself||
I guess I should look at tickets for this weekend'
finally caught up to the rookie
The Rookie Latest - ||wtf that was. whole packed episode with seth back and he gets his leg shot off on the same episode...crazy stuff ||
MCU is back baby
Theres a similar tweet like this to Andor, dude lmao
how
thunderbolts
oh yeah
more like thunderbore
Superman trailer ||the two shots of him saving the kid and the other kid raising the flag ||
That score is really wonderful
So good
superman teaser ||the chants for superman building up after the kid raises the flag
HOPE HAS RETURNED||
Thunderbolts ff4 and Superman super hero movies may be back
Seeing thunderbolts today and I’ve never been happier!
Full faith in the movie
Because of james gunn
It just already feels like a slam dunk lol
I’m curious how ff4 and superman will do against one another
Same month
you know, Johnny bravo really reminds me of Sanji
lmao
Happiest I’ve felt about superhero movies in a long time
Like I said
We could be back
Although marvel will really have to stay locked in post ff
keep your expectations in check for things beyond these three films after this year
you never know
Yeah thats what i was thinking about lol
Well, with james gunn at the head of dc i have faith in it
The guardians trilogy overall the best trilogy in the mcu
Even for its flaws
It’s pretty easy when the only movie after is doomsday lol
A year of tv shows may be rough tho
I’m looking forward to Fan4, and cautiously optimistic bout Superman. It just hasn’t rly gripped me yet
And I’m not as big a Gunn fan as most ppl. Think he’s a bit overhyped
i'm not that big a fan of the second guardians movie
but i love the suicide squad and guardians 1 and 3
That’s funny haha, gotg2 is my favorite
2, 1, then 3
Didn’t care for suicide squad but I did enjoy peacemaker
the suicide squad reboot was lit
sometimes (especially in guardians 3) his style of storytelling can feel a bit emotionally contrived and manipulative but its just so good most of the time
idk why they'd choose ff4 instead of ff7 for a movie
its insane how much does jared leto bring a movie down
Oh the og Suicide squad lol, I feel Leto’s joker was fine
the first suicide squad is fundamentally structurally bad
It’s a fun take, def not the best, but very of the modern era for it’s time
I basically only have interest in these new DC movies now as far as superhero shit goes lol
the editing and performances are horrendous and it looks like grey slop
Batman was the shit and Superman seems promising
idc about the "DCU" ones
though
those suck too
superman is a DCU film
Yeah lol
