Terminator ||Many, myself included, don't think too highly of the first one. Granted, it's been forever since I saw it I think. so maybe my opinion would change on it nowadays. 2 is the one most consider the masterpiece, far better than 1.||

Terminator ||I love how grounded the first one is, feels like a legit horror movie. There's a tangibility to the presentation of the Terminator, coupled with Arnold's performance, that makes it feel like this is a thing that could actually happen and this thing isn't just some I Robot from the year 3000

Sarah Connor makes a compelling heroine as this chick being targeted for being targeted for something so unbelievable and far removed from reality. The way it utilizes the time travel plot and how it plays with her character is novel even for the genre, enough that you can recognize when something is inspired by Terminator from a mile away. The villains got an extremely personal quest for revenge against her while for her it feels like it has nothing to do with her at all, it makes for such a tense and hopeless dynamic

It's such a raw film. Small and intimate and scope but the framing makes it feel enormous||

2 is very good too but it's like the old Alien vs Aliens debate and I'm in the Alien 1 camp for that franchise as well. One of em stands at the peak of a genre while another is just one of my favorite films ever made

Finished Terminator 2 ||This is a passable action flick. 2 is certainly an improvement from 1 in that the story and cast is interesting enough to hold my attention. But, its exploration on robots and technology is not particularly intriguing. And most essential for this kind of film, their cast’s chemistry was not entertaining to watch. Arnold’s performance as the terminator in action scenes are good, but when it comes to having bonding human interactions with the kid, they’re meh. I didn’t find their interactions heartwarming nor funny. The contrast of the stoicism with the Terminator versus the open and hopeful kid just didn’t do much for me with the way the dialogue was written. I’ve seen better interactions from other media that’s done it better. As a result, I didn’t see the climax of the terminator’s sacrifice as emotional. This is a movie that does enough to interest me, but not enough to entertain me greatly. In that sense, I guess you could say I didn’t like it. ||

Terminator 2 ||If memory serves, "but when it comes to having bonding human interactions with the kid, they’re meh" is kind of somewhat the point of those scenes (with humor being another reason) - he's a machine after all, and this isn't necessarily a story of a machine developing solid human empathy, though he tries with questions like "why do you cry?" Even by the end, you are supposed to accept he's a cyborg from the future who cannot fully show human emotions, making the sacrifice more beautiful in a way.||

Sonic IDW #50 ||That was a very satisfying climax to everything the comics been building up.

Wasn't really sure how the comic would feel moving forward from how tense and hopeless the Metal Virus arc was, and the reset to status quo, but building this saga around the questioning of the status quo, and having bad actors move behind the scenes while Sonics too busy doing Sonic things to even notice the real plot until it was too late, was really effective.

Surge is really cool. Starlines defeat was cathartic. Eggmans confidently taken back his seat as the villain of this franchise after like 50 issues of playing second fiddle.

Belle is a pity party and I'm kinda sick of her but she served her purpose well enough in this story and I hope she takes a backseat for a while following the escape. Follow up with Tangle and see her misadventures for a little bit or something, or do a story with Blaze cuz she's been absent for ages.||

Oathbringer, and ROW up to chapter 3 ||I loved the book. But one thing is starting to piss me off: what is Brandon's endgame with Shallan and Kaladin? I had suspicions he would make Shallan and Adolin work/get married because, to be honest, they feel like a healthy couple. But it always leads me back to 1. She ignores meetings to sketch Kaladin almost absentmindedly as well as the passing glances she gives him (and him to her) and 2. The chasm scenes in WOR. Like....that meant something, right? Something that Adolin hasn't even come close to experiencing with Shallan (or who knows time has passed and maybe he knows everything about his wife with pillow talk). I hope it wasn't just two people trauma bonding with nothing deeper beneath the surface ultimately. And the end of Oathbringer made me feel weird with how they both just "accepted" not being together. However, chapter 2 of ROW has left me wondering if Brandon will continue to tackle these two as an item due to Kaladin not sleeping well and the fact he already went through one relationship with a subordinate in Lyn. I really, really rooted for these two and it felt like Brandon dragged me along for a ride and then punched me in the face. Granted, I can also see him playing the long game and adding more plot twists and introspection between these two concerning each other. Or it's all copium and fuck me and fuck Brandon and I guess Adolin is all Shallan ever needed. BUT HEY AT LEAST MY GIRL JASNAH IS QUEEN BABY!!!!||

Finished the Kill Bill movies ||These were fun. Action sequences were really good to watch in the first movie. The second one was just as good, and I liked it a bit more. 2nd movie was kinda reminiscent of a shonen anime arc with how much shit and training the protagonist goes through. Daredevil: Born Again episode 2 ||It's cool, it carries the vibes of the Netflix show and its general ethos but I just want the scenes of conversation to breath more, and I need more compelling new characters. The cinematography and composition is good enough, but there's a sort of veneer of "movie magic" on it that the filmmakers wanna show off with the visual and musical choices, which i'm fine with but the show needs to reign that in and focus more on the actual substance of the characters and their arcs which the older show excelled in while also having really cool compelling creative choices. Newer characters are a bit of a bore so far but I also don't think they won't be fleshed out, excited for more. Action is still cool and they've done a good job keeping to the standards set earlier.||

||The elephant in the room is a decision that they make at the very beginning of the first episode, which I am waiting to see how they integrate and incorporate in the payoff (the indication so far is that its working out well), but I wanna see how they tackle Matt's catholic leanings and his theological outlook which forms a backbone to his character||
