Finished SHE-RA series ||This show was fine. SHE-RA generally felt tensionless to me with how plain the presentation and animation is, making the big story/character moments not have much impact. Though the story was not particularly intriguing looking back, its execution was good. Characters carry the show mostly, and there are a couple of them that I liked Catra, Adora, and Entrapta. They kept me watching to see how they'd grow. I like Entrapta the most out of the cast because I relate to her the most with her tendencies and behavior, just being locked in with her passion on technology and being loved by most of the characters by the end of Season 5. ||

||The only thing I mainly disliked narratively was the constant arguments between Adora and Glimmer in S4. I didn't like how lengthened the incompetency Glimmer's role as queen was. I understand that Glimmer is a teenager and wants to be off-track to be with her friends, but you can only show so much incompetence before it just becomes an annoying part of the writing. Besides that, the story's overall writing fine.||

I would not say this show was amazing, but I did enjoy it.

Severance S2 ep. 7 ||Every once in a while you get an episode like this one, which is so profusely brilliant in every imaginable facet. There isn’t a single question as to whether or not this is the best episode of the series, thus far.

So much has been given. The thread that binds the entirety of Severance’s overarching plot and mysteries. The single most monumental and important entry into the series, with promises of only better things to come. I’m actually in love with this show in a way I haven’t been with any other show in quite some time.

Not to mention how genuinely enthralling the entire hour was. Eyes glued to the screen. Emotions elicited numerous times throughout, not just bc Mark and Gemma’s story is devastating, but also bc the direction and visuals are utterly mesmerizing and perfectly executed.

I actually have no choice but to sit with this for the next hour. Both to come to terms with how fucking moved I am asw as to simply go back over everything to make sure I have a strong and comprehensive understanding of the info given and how it ties back into everything I knew and understood about the show prior.||

Mark and Gemma are such tragic characters that it’s difficult to describe what’s happened/happening to them with any word other than “devastating.” The episode does a phenomenal job of building upon itself, so there were multiple moments where I felt myself emotionally spiraling, but that Gemma/Ms. Casey elevator sequence was a brutal gut-punch for me. Pure, harrowing dread. Especially haunting upon realization that she’s been going through this, unbeknownst to the audience, for the entirety of the series’ runtime, and beyond. The twisted and sick irony that is Cobel having Gemma and Mark come into direct contact on various occasions. The understanding that Gemma hasn’t known happiness for so long, and won’t know it again until and unless she’s saved.

It all coalesces into such complex sadness that anyone with a shred of soul will likely have to come to terms with what they just witnessed.

But, yeah, man. This episode was the one, for me. If they land the conclusion of this season, Severance cements itself as an all timer. This episode was pure cinema asw. What a fucking brilliant balancing act between past and present perspectives. Can’t gush about the cinematography of this episode enough. Some of those transitions were genius.||

Sonic IDW #32 ||and that's a wrap on the Metal Virus saga.

It was pretty solid. Starts off with a lot of energy with the world having barely recovered and this being a conflict Sonic can't just punch and everyone being picked off one by one. Also really enjoy the relationship between Starline and Eggman, and seeing how each character responded to and grew from what happened. The best issues were the independent one offs seeing what characters like Big, Tangle, Tails, Metal and Vector were up to

It kinda got limp towards the end, the Deadly Six just aren't compelling villains in any scenario and took momentum away from Starlines own rise to power. And the amnesia stunt with Sonic and his fakeout death was tacky coming only like 20 issues off of Eggmans own version of the same exact thing. But it looks like a lot of these threads are gonna be woven further into the next saga, which I think is Flynns final one as the primary writer on the series before he got involved with the games directly? So I'm excited to see how everything comes together.

Also as a side note Jewels snowballing presence and importance has been really organic and funny. Didn't expect this throwaway character from a bonus comic to eventually become the new leader of the Restoration||

Finished Paddington 1 and 2 ||I didn't like the first movie personally. Although I found Paddington himself charming, the story itself was a typical and predictable kids plot that it was boring to sit through. But, I did like Paddington 2. I felt they did something interesting and unconventional with Paddington's character by having him go through a prison arc. The prison stuff highlighted the kind part of Paddington's character so well in contrast to the grumpy prisoners that didn't like the bear's presence at first. It made the story intriguing, wholesome, and fun to watch. Just good writing all-around in the 2nd movie with a nice heartwarming ending of the Aunt visiting Paddington. Pretty satisfying conclusion.||

Finished watching The Sound of Magic ||This genuinely surprised me by how good this was in character exploration and cohesiveness. After the big teases of Ri Eul that suggested he was more than a magician that makes people smile, I was locked in for the whole ride. The show does a fantastic job on keeping me on my toes with the Ah-yi and Il-deung drama and the slowly unveiling of pieces of Ri Eul info that keep me wondering what kind of person he really was. ||

||The story all came together in an incredible way, ultimately being a unconventional, but solid critique of the educational system and how parents push students to pick paths that don't consider what these young people want. I particularly love how Ah-yi goes from a poor person abiding to the rigged system to one choosing the path she wants and the beliefs she believes in. Even when it all seems to favor that Ri Eul was the one that committed the crime, she stuck to her beliefs. Ultimately, the one that did the crimes was found out not to be Ri Eul, but the boss Ah-Yi worked for and got sexually harassed by. Her arc further cements the point on how it important it is to stick to the values and beliefs you have as a person. It's a wonderful message challenged by the show and wonderfully conveyed II-deung's arc is similar, but from the perspective of a privileged family, who wants to take a path that's not of a high-paying career, but a lower-paying one that makes him happier. Both of these students were guided by the famed magician, who guided them into finding their own independence.||

||With the magician, he too was pushed too hard by the educational system he abided to when he was young, and suffered a major mental and physical injury as a result, leading him to the magician career he has now. All the sayings and actions he's done to guide the main characters throughout make complete sense with the full backstory told in the last episode. He's charismatic, mysterious, and fantastically written. ||

||I have no qualms with the show, seeing how everything all came together. However, I do wish that at the least, II-deung had been showcased in the future epilogue. Ah-yi got to have one, but not II-deung, despite being central to the story. It was a bummer, but not a big deal. Overall, I thought this show was great and explored its themes in an unconventional, but fun way.||

One of the best K-dramas I seen in a while. The messages and themes in this show are something I'll remember and value for a long time. I highly recommend it.

Day of the Jackal ep 7 ||Called that a mile away but admittedly was wrong on the reason, legit was just him being wrong place at the wrong time. If he didn't show up and didn't try to chase down Jackal he would've lived, poor guy . Sleeping with the security guard so he could get the building, find an access where he could lay low for a day while stocking up on snacks and water was honestly brilliant, as were the flashbacks to whatever wedding/event he and his squad shot up that traumatized himself enough to go AWOL and fake his death. Was a bit hard to see but I'm guessing one of the guards on site was paid off to try and kill UDC, all the effort from Jackal for nothing Nuria's brother and more are leeches, that was prime emotional manipulation to get Jackal's money and the fact he took a gun as well tells me what he's doing hasn't got anything to do with a bar, probably drugs/loan sharks. Don't see things ending well for him.||

So he gets a taste of the kill for hire life while on leave, unintentionally starts the fire fight that leads to a massacre at a wedding that his squad mates then proceed to cover up with an air strike, and then kills all of them except his spotter to go free. Just wild. Also any spotter who tells you to hurry up and kill someone who isn't even your designated target after 6 hours is waiting is a baby.||

Tried and true formula of tying up loose ends. As to killing that gangster it would've been much smarter to do that out of public, he just set himself up for Bianca to turn her attention to Spain. Nuria's brother still seems like a problem, I don't know if she'd tolerate Jackal killing him but at bare minimum you need to put the fear of God into him to make him shut up, could even see a possibility of her taking their kid and running away with Jackal somewhere else to start over.||

'Cause it's clear the big reveal happens in chapter 111 of Oathbringer where he clearly spells it out. But this epigraph is also great if you're a careful reader that somehow catches on what Brandon is subtly hinting. I think most readers probably would miss this on a first read (which I assume is intentional by Brandon, otherwise Chapter 111 of Oathbringer doesn't hit as hard).||
