I'd definitely recommend reading the novellas, especially Edgedancer (the novella between WoR and Oathbinger) since they include important context and character development that translates into the main books aswell. but if you just wanna go through the main books and don't mind then that's fair

they're more like books 2.5 and 3.5 of stormlight for me personally but yeah they aren't strictly required to read

my concern with Severance is that so far in S2, ||they are moving through things at a pretty brisk pace in starting to answer questions/advance the plot and I don't see going into a 4th season as something rewarding based on that.

i think a puzzle-box show is very "call and response" setup where you can spend most of the first season introducing the mysteries and providing some answers, but once you get to the second season you do need to give answers to the bigger picture of it all and trying to tease out the mystery further can be extremely difficult to do well

so just based on the pacing of what we're getting here in the response for the mystery-solving, the relationship growth/development and everything, i have a hard time seeing a 3rd season being truly satisfying if the goal is to aim for a season or more beyond that||

I'm bewildered and amazed at how this was directed via editing, dialogue, and visuals that most closely and precisely show existential thoughts into the film medium. I definitely had lingering thoughts of future, but fuzzy dark scenarios and regrets just as the old man approaching his life's end did. Watching this made me reflect in the past and appreciate that I have a therapist that helped me over the years get over these former problems, growing to a point where I enjoy life again and see how much good stuff there is in this life, even amongst the negatives. This was great, I'll likely see it again one day.||

The show definitely has the animation style down-to-a-tee with more improvements, but the punchlines and jokes just don't land. I think it's the voice-acting direction not really having that oomph in it to really make the joke deliveries memorable. I haven't found a single character within the new cast that I found very funny that's as good as Crocker, Timmy's dad, and Doug Dimmadome.

Finished the Hilda cartoon. ||The way this show is so specifically constructed with its OST and animation makes it such a comfortable series to watch. I enjoyed the adventures Hilda and her friends take to explore Trolberg's various secrets and how the main character tries to get along with everyone she meets. I specifically love the parental relationship between Hilda and her mother the most. The mother really cares for Hilda and tries to protect her from danger, but mum slowly develops over the series to be more willing to be part of Hilda's adventures. It's very precious. I can easily see why this show gets praised a lot now.||

Invincible issue 45 ||the first 2 images are 33, the third is 34, the last is 45. Now I really love the panelling of that first page, and I love Mark's line of "I thought you were stronger". It's directed at Angstrom but also to himself, saying that he thought he was strong enough to not lash out. Also I don't think this line in the third image is in the show, but Debbie saying that she's lived through worse is genuinely so sad, still dealing with how Nolan left her and how everything was lie. And finally, the line from Nolan is so great "I think I miss my wife"||

Oops, I ended up watched the entirety of Castlevania S1 and S2 ||This is very good. I liked how much depth the Castlevania characters have been given in this animated adaptation. There's a lot of interesting conversations in the show's cast regarding the depths of human darkness is so intriguing, of which drives their motives to protect or destroy humanity. The different levels of violence displayed within the villains and heroes has intended purpose in showcasing their morals in different scenarios. ||

||The hero cast is good as well, I liked how non-traditional the protagonist is and how he's just a tired, brash man feeling lost in his pursuit to stopping Dracula. In that lost pursuit, Alucard and Sypha slowly bring him back to life throughout the story to help change his perspective that there is something worthy to do in life, even when ruined reputation amongst the Belmonts was against him. ||

||The only thing I was underwhelmed by in this series looking back was the main villain. Dracula wanted to end humanity just because of one human he cared for that shared similar interests with him died. In Dracula's pursuit to end humanity, he just became lazy and left his minions to do what they wanted as long as they killed all the humans in Braila. I don't quite find that direction for his character interesting from a writing standpoint, even when he did have fondness for a few humans. ||

||Still, I suppose he's a serviceable villain that does the job being a terrifying presence for Trevor and Alucard to stop. The other villains that were under his rule like Isaac and Hector that have their own negative views of humanity ended up in other paths by the end of S2 and they intrigue me more than Dracula. So I look forward to those characters when I binge S3 and S4 in the coming days.||

As you can see, I like this show a lot.
