Wild Robot more thoughts ||For some reason, Western animation films about robots tend to be bangers and this one is no different. I loved that this particular robot story focuses on parental love and the sacrifices made to be a good parent through the robot protagonist. It had many great character arcs and emotional moments that made the movie feel like a complete package. Favorite moment in the movie has gotta be when the robot was rescuing all the animals for winter hibernation. That was the most GOATed thing the robot had done and is probably one of the most memorable sequences of a pure selfless act from a character I seen in any fictional media ever. This movie overall was great and made me remember how love can be such a powerful thing in life. 🤟 ||

||I thought I’d write my thoughts on the character perspective stories and rank them because whats better than rankings, nothing. I’ll go from worst to best

LAST: Bran. Holy shit Bran was boring as hell. It started off interesting with the mild intrigue of him walking in on jamie and cersei but after that this mf has no reason to be getting his own chapters when someone like Robb who is a decently sized person in the story all things considered not having any. Wah wah my legs are broken and the best part of my story is when they say “hodar” or when i have a no good very bad day and break my legs or get threatened. Even the “moments” in his story are mostly from other characters but him just being stuck in winterfell makes it not very interesting whatsoever. His ass better get something in CoK because holy shit

Catelyn: Idk how popular this is but i just didn’t think she was all that interesting and yet again most of her interest in the story came from other characters like Tyrion when they were up in the Eyrie or her watching Robb become like Ned and learn how to go into this war. Also her sections in the later half have so many damn names because all of the allies of winterfell and it can be annoying. I found her interesting in the first half when she was proactive and the mental between her and Tyrion but in the back half it was mostly just like “wow robb really is like Ned” and “wow I sure am worried about Rob” and its like she became sidelined herself into just being a mom. Curious to see where they take her though with Ned dead||

game of thrones end ||Arya: i think she has the least? Amount of chapters out of the character perspectives but its just charming to watch her and see how a tomboy navigates a world that is definitely not in her favor lmao. Also her relationship with Ned was really enjoyable, and her beating the shit out of Joffrey which is something he very much deserves. Plus the drama between her and Sansa i thought was handled well especially at that point where the childish bickering has real world consequences in both of their direwolves being taken away and killed. It was just fun to read her roam about the castle and stuff. I can say i definitively like basically most things about her as well as everyone going forward unlike the last two.

Sansa: She was honestly lowkey a surprise in how much I liked her and her character writing. Its like she thinks she’s a princess in a fairy tail but unfortunately it is so fucking not that 😭😭 she’s so frustrating yet in the first half but I can’t help but feel sympathetic and I find her surprisingly super interesting. Having her world shattered with Ned being dead and her delusion of Joffrey being shattered I’m really curious to see where it goes. Also shoutout to the scene with her and Joff’s Dog. Seeing him call her out and just their conversation and his story was really interesting. Also that scene with Joff showing Sansa Neds head was crazy lmfao I hope Tyrion slaps his dumbass again with him heading to the court 😭😭😭😭 i could see her being higher as well the more I think about it ||

got end ||Tyrion/Jon: Tyrion is a character that’s so easy to love and him and Jon are honestly tied tbh. Tyrion is my favorite character in the story, but his story itself was very reactive and a little bit wandering I guess which is why he’s not higher, I still really liked it though. Its super easy to root for him though, I loved the scene of him in the court with Lysa Arynn when he demands a fair trial, and it was hype reading that. Also its just so fun to see him talk his way out of things because it doesn’t feel like things just work out for him he really earns those moments. Also Im really curious about the angle with him and his relationship with women and to see where that goes because its obviously been pressed on. Jon is just something consistently good to munch on, idk i guess you could say it feels kind of cookie cutter with his story but also idk bro I just like it, watching him learn about the wall and deal with this idea of him being a bastard and an outcast and how in the end he ultimately decides to stay with the wall. Even if it was a little predictable, thinking about it now i would probably place Tyrion above it but i don’t wanna rewrite this so lmao

Dany: she’s 2nd and I’m not gonna bother spelling her full name because frankly I do not know how to even after the multiple times I’ve looked at it. With the reveal of the dragons being back it makes her part of this story really just kinda feel like a prologue, which is crazy considering I found it super entertaining throughout and I’m super curious to see where it goes. It was so fucking nice to see Varys get boiled lmfao what a complete shitbag it was so satisfying to hate on him and he was really funny in an incel sort of way. But yeah it was just super interesting of this girl who’s really shy and watching her develop into what she is by the end of book 1. As well as the stuff with Khal Drogo and the blood witch and the riders and just finding out about them and the tribe and stuff.||

Got end|| dany continued Although idk how relevant it will be going forward with drogo dead and the khalsar disbanded essentially except for a couple. Reallllly curious to see where she goes though

Ned: I mean I knew going in he died but even then his story was just the most interesting to follow and him as this honor bound character almost to the very end, and even when he did lie to try and save his life joff just killed him. Also his story had the most interesting side characters with Robert and Cersei and Littlefinger and the Spider messenger guy Viserarys or something. Idk its just hard to find anything bad about his story and i really enjoyed it and it feels weird to not have a lot to say about it but idk he’e dead bro i can’t theorize about anything he’ll do 😭😭||

Also there is Agatha All Along which I have been loving so far but its still not completed.

There are actually stil coming this many other new seasons for shows that I have loved, like Squid Game, Arcane and actually another season of Abbot Elementary

So there is really lot of things still coming out, and of course the new shows that don't even know about yet but yeah time is not limittles so might be hard to try all of thouse

i think fan service can only get you so far, and ||while bringing back prior actors allowed for some resonance, for the villains they just served as rehashes of their prior story lines
a major issue i have with it also is that the character is your friendly neighborhood spider-man- a massive part of the character's appeal is the scale of his world being about the people near and dear to him in nyc, and the MCU trilogy going further with each sequel from "saving the world" to "saving the multiverse" is a major mishandling of the character||

but the latter point is a problem i'd say lies with like all the Phase 4 MCU films in general

||Basically a bunch of different issues:||

||1) Very weird amounts of screentime were spent on relationships that didn't go where I thought they were set up for like Bolin and the girl with a twin||
||2) People being stupid simply because they lack the capacity to be reasonable and communication (I hate this trope where characters don't tell their partners or people who they trust exactly what they're doing because they take it out of context or assume shit that isn't true like with Korra and Mako)||
||3) Mako not using lightning when he should be using it is an issue I have for the entire series||
||4) Lin not trusting in Mako despite S1 happening is really dumb to me (he ended up being proven right but Lin would rather believe these two really obnoxious subordinates)||
||5) The whole spiritbending thing (I remember liking it at first but something bothered me, I don't remember specifically right now)||
||6) Unalaq being weird about his motivation or conviction or lack thereof (Seemingly, he wanted to destroy the world? He pulled a Sozin in that he wasn't reasonable at all and just wanted genocide? I would imagine he's smart enough to understand that letting Vaatu out would cause irreversible damage and Korra brings up how much the balance matters for nature and wildlife but Unalaq goes from sympathizing to not giving a fuck? Maybe he never cared in the first place and it was all a facade but then like... if he always thought this, why bother not killing his children who he abuses (I think they betray him but at the very last second when he doesn't save them) or just kill his brother||
||7) It was all over the place pacingwise (Some episodes dragged and others felt stretched) and I'm not crazy about the Avatar's being permanently removed from Korra but that feels like an unnecessary thing to do on the original||
||8) The kaiju was eye torture but it gave us crumbs for Varrick and Zhu Li being a thing which I like||

||The things I liked:||

||1) Varrick and Zhu Li||
||2) They tried to cover colonization as an issue and while it was bad I appreciate TLOK for simply attempting to cover more mature ideas||
||3) Some of the new technology was cool and I liked the backstory for the first Avatar||

That said, I wouldn't dislike it much if the issues it had stayed within the scope of the season itself. Here come the spoiler tags

The message below is regarding The Legend of Korra season 2 spoilers and slight season 3 spoilers

||The civil war plot at the start was interesting itself! Using actual false flag attacks and manipulative leaders was awesome! Then they went away from all of it.||

||Avatar Wan's backstory was garbage. How did this guy see a world where spirits, who have an entire mirror realm, had forced humans to rely on lion turtles for protection, and attacked/permanently disfigured the fools who were trying to get food, and still almost exclusively took the spirits side? That shit has always bothered me. The humans weren't saints, but they weren't wrong either.||

||It contradicted previous ATLA lore. Making the Avatar the union of a man and the personification of "good" severely limits the kinds of stories that can be told in the future. And making lion turtles gifting man the elements is way way way less cool than the ATLA "we studied animals and learned from them." Also makes certain stories like the Sun Warriors and Oma and Shu just straight up bullshit.||

||They also demystified the shit out of it. They took a western approach, a Jesus VS Devil morality rather than the previously established Eastern, ying-yang balance sort of morality. How is one flying carpet being free to govern the world and the other to stay locked in an ancient tree "balance?||

||Finally, what they did at the end, removing the connections to the past lives was such a shit decision. Like, my God what a horrid decision. The deux ex machina of the airbenders magically appearing later was also bullshit. And Korra undermining the Avatar's main function (the spirit between the human and spirit world), one that no amount of tech advancing would help with, is completely gone now.||

I do remember that being thrown away and yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you said here. I didn't even remember the spirit realm thing because yeah, that becomes a central reason for why S3 and even S4 happen. I forgot about the Sun Warriors connection, yeah, that was odd although another thing I just thought of while typing is how they might've come up with all of that just to remedy the giant lions having the bending and passing it down, etc. Even as a kid, I remember being taken aback by that. But yeah, I remember being weirded out at Korra losing her connection and how she doesn't actually act as a bridge between the realms until the last season (I might be misremembering though). How did you feel about S4?||

Finished Spiderman 2 ||Peter Park's arc in this movie is more compelling with his conflict of having trouble with jobs and his trouble of being a hero. Peter's accomplished more impressive feats this time that made me like his character a bit more. The train scene really stuck with me. With this movie's villain, I think I like Green Goblin as a villain more due to how personally connected he is to Peter, but Dr. Octopus was still well written and gave leeway to pushing the relationship between peter and his girl (Of which relationship I find meh now, but it's still works). This was pretty good overall and surpasses the first movie by a bit. ||

Finished Spiderman 3 ||i did not like how this big conflict started because of the weaker aspects of the films: the Mary Jane relationship. Peter went on a stupid edgy phase because of her. If the complexity this relationship conflict within the past three films was more interesting, it would have at least done something for this film. It kinda redeemed itself towards the end with how the sandman antagonist was handled, looping back to the consistent theme of hero responsibility, but that was not enough to smother my dislike for the execution of 3. It’s overall mid.||

Finished Mistborn TFE. It was alright for the most part but the Sanderlanche was honestly really amazing.

And honestly knowing the spoiler that
|| Kelsier dies made it even more interesting for me. I was hoping what amazing thing he does while being killed or that he is gonna get himself executed to save Vin or smth, but the wow he dies just there without putting much of a fight at all and the 'other secret' is only revealed after he has died || Mistborn TFE end

I was bored as fuck so I agree with Schrader, whose ideas and scripts were made into Taxi Driver and such, were aped by Phillips for the first film and now he didn’t have anyone to ape so it’s utter fucking shit at being a competent musical or being a good character piece

and as a musical this actually made sense cause the musical part was really just a gag of the movie to me || to elevate a sense of manic between Joker and Lee’s relationship through their concept of a fantasy like it wasn’t like they just broke out into random plot songs like Wicked || so I was good with it
