its just mid
So seeing people complain about stuff that was wrong in Star Wars in general but attributing only to acolyte is so funny
So disingenuous
@outer tulip
havent watched it but acolyte just seems like the latest punching bag for sw fans. ive seen this before with the kenobi, boba fett series and the sequel movies
@modern lichen s3 of the bear is out
||surely they won't keep it outside the main mcu right? have 0 bias, but with how mcu been taking hit after hit i woulda thought piecing the f4 with other mcu projectswas their move|| fantastiv four
MCU phase 4/5 ||they might do secret wars where all the universes combine into 1||
ok yeah that's what i was thinkin
not looking forward to anything marvel not hating or showing bias
will still watch most of em bc friends
I just watch whatever looks decent
same
really sad when the first things that come out of peoples mouths regarding a movie is profit
ya
im only interested in deadpool and daredevil reboot for now
daredevil show looks rly promising after the changes
The Bear s3 ep2
|| This show ever fails to amaze me man. First 2 ep were great. Also Nice Dream at the end was great 🙏||
Thank God I didn't click that
THE BEAR TIME
who got the boys ep 5 stream link
I just watch through prime cause my partner gets it for free
Acolyte EP 3
||That was…interesting. Very uneven episode lol ||
went to a book fair and all they had in english was just dune books
Watched the first three eps of The Bear S3 last night- found the premiere to be an interesting approach to start off the season with, but it wasn't exactly the best episode of television the show has delivered
I appreciate the swing even if the ball didn't quite go as far as they had hoped for
I see it as them easing up on the audience from last season and then unleashing chaos later
https://www.imdb.com/user/ur172979817/ratings/ this is a full list of the stuff ive watched
yeah, i was current on SW content until ahsoka
havent been wathcing any of the disney plus shows since last yr, will catch up on then at some point
yeah , punisher is cool series
we're not gonna get that lvl of violence and grit again in mcu
maybe daredevil born again since apparently its going to be tv-ma
phantom menace|| darth maul, qui gon carried that movie tbh||
you should watch the clone wars series, it rly fleshes out the prequel stuff, especially ||darth maul|| sw clone wars
ye
offers some of the best SW content
Yes
yeah, it fleshes out the prequel triology events
They're like direct prequels to ep3
It has a lot to do with the prequels
they make the prequel movies tolerable
i watched 3 after finishing the clone wars and it was better that way
tho u can prob do that method since the movies came out first
Anybody saw the Boys today
All episodes of the bear got released 🙏😩
I'm gonna download the whole season on monday

@modern lichen btw watched Kalki yet?
Anyone here saw the secret Agent Elvis thing?
Cobra Kai Season 4 Episode 9 ||Bro was floating to high that he cracked his back||
oh interesting
The Marvels || I feel the MCU is doing a going to focus on other verses outside 616 since we already know the XMen isn't in the main verse from the end credit scene ||
nicee
yeah, 4:30am showing
insane stuff
@mild seal gonna rewatch the bear s2 before s3 today
The Boys latest ep s4 e5 ||So wth is butcher atm? Like he obviously has powers related to whatever the fuck the weird tentacle worm shit is but wtf are they?||
The boys s4e5 ||not sure tbh, perhaps similar to the little girl's ones||
Its good if you like bad things
i watched the first episode back in college, my roommates all loved it but that was back when i lived with frat guys
the boys episode 1 ||i just thought it was needlessly flashy with the gore, like i get that's it's a superhero show and everything's gonna be played up visually but it was still gruesome||
and yeah i never stuck with it
I mean, it’s literally satire that makes fun of those types of people but they never seem to catch on each season lol
it's got a cool premise, i guess my question is on how good the execution is
so the memes seem to say lol
They’re finally seemed to realise i think
the boys general non-specific all seasons ||its very torture porn-y, the 'commentary' is extremely on the nose in later seasons||
had a good message i was about to write but it would have required me to spoilertag it with "the boys / american politics" and i don't think i'm ready to write that string of characters
the boys general ||Lol sort of hard to discuss it without that||
The boys general ||Yeah sometimes it feels a little too explicit to the point it just feels extra af. But I do think a lot it lands as well and makes it stand out in television. Most shows are not willing to go these lengths I’ll say that. And yeah, the satire and commentary is verrrry blatant and in your face but overall I think it’s a good show||
i guess just show of hands, is it good
I like it
I like it a lot yeah
Its very bad but good
It’s a well made entertaining show that’s pretty didactic at times
I don’t think it’s really bad
The boys general ||Wont go into detail but I do actually think Homelander (ig the overarching “villain” of the series) is a really good character. And a pretty interesting take on the ol “what if Superman was like bad or something”||
The Bear s3 ep6
|| Dam this is a hard hitting episode. Tina’s backstory got me tearing up. Amazing||
Don’t read the Boys comics, guys
the boys general ||I don't want to say homelander carries the series but it wouldn't be nearly what it was without him||
I think most of the relevant characters are interesting enough tbh
Yeah i like pretty much all of them
this was the appeal to always sunny for me
although i feel like the boys goes in a different direction with respect to that
the boys s4e5 ||I thought the hewie dad stuff was snoozezords until this episode, the ending was nice. angry british man is pretty boring to me though||
||fits within the 'I'm an angry old man but trauma' trope and the accent is pretty unbelievable||
The Boys s4 e5 latest ||I don’t really know where butcher is heading tbh. Like ig the end game is still saving Ryan but he just seems way too unhinged and out of touch atm for me to think he’s gonna do anything valiant or heroic there. This is obviously heading in a bad direction for him given he’s got fucking Satan in his ear lol||
The Boys s4 ep 5 || i think hes either gonna fuck up bad and come to hiss senses or realise before, though this’ll definitely have pretty bad consequences since i think Neuman will wanna actually kill them now ||
The Boys latest ep ||I guess the worm thing thats been crawling around in his head is what we saw come out of the rabbit in the woods. So eventually it'll him apart I guess. I saw a theory that maybe the thing inside him is responsible for his powers. So the virus will kill it, but not him||
Rewatched across the spiderverse with my girlfriend who hadn’t seen it
Still a 10/10
Ford vs Ferrari 2019 || Ken Miles lived one hell of a life, amazing film ||
Need an update on beyond asap
Assuming early 2025 since it was originally meant to be out this march before the delay
That shits never coming out
The movie length flies by
One of the fastest 2 hour movies I can think of
It feels like an hour
Yeah
Missing the times I watched Oppenheimer and Oldboy for the first time
I’m itching to find a movie I just love
oppenheimer went by fast for a 3 hr movie. I just wished i saw it with subtitles when i saw it at theatre
nolan movies are annoying to watch without subtitles
i couldnt comprehend like 30% of the dialouge in oppenheimer but still loved it
need to rewatch it with captions this time
oldboy's a masterpiece despite how disturbing it is
prob the first korean movie i watched
Going into oldboy blind not knowing anything genuinely at all is the greatest thing to ever happen to me
Oldboy ||all I knew was there was a hallway fight scene||
And that was it
watch park chan wook's other films
i prob knew of the big twist but it still hit hard, holy shit
I really need to
Masterful film
Kino
infernal affairs was amazing also. watching the departed made me check it out
Any one have any recommendations I’ve been having a hard time picking something despite having a whole list lmao
What genre
Idk I’m down for anything
infernal affairs is all fast and furious action, the departed is more grandiose and operatic to me
I just haven’t had the will in me to pick something for myself as of late
zodiac(2007), nightcrawler, lost highway
Nightcrawler...
all good suggestions
man lost highway rly stuck with me, such an interesting and confusing movie
I’ll probably watch one of those tomorrow than
I’ve watched so many movies this month for me its crazy
i was in my film phase in 2020, havent watched much since then
moved to tv shows instead
I found a torrent for a very obscure 90s movie and I plan to watch it this weekend
Like 15 or 16, counting the 2 i fell asleep to
still got lot of classics i needa check out
glex, seeing backlash against this new season of the bear lol
watching those slow art movies really trains your attention span
I fell asleep to little women which I lowkey felt bad about 😭😭
It was real late
It took me like 2 days to get through the lighthouse lmao
had to restart it a couple times and pause
Breaks in movies are kind of crazy to me
the lighthouse gripped me
Unless it’s for like a couple minutes just to get food
i couldnt take my eyes of the screen
i felt like id have enjoyed it more in theatre
Wombat if you wanna watch a comedy
very atmospheric movie
I suggest in Bruges
any of yall watched magnolia by PTA?
Alrighty 🥹
Harsh how many films have you watched?
i think ive watched magnolia, there will be blood and master
more than 6000
enjoyed them all. favorite is prob magnolia
I’ve only seen TwBB
yeah
i'm a big film fan
ive prioritized tv shows/animanga lately
i also like reading a lot
just too much content im interested in and not enough time
oh i've seen a lot of shows as well
It's hard for me to find a book to get into
read "his dark materials" trilogy, glex
i started giving af bout film/tv/anime since 2018 so i missed out on a lot

I’ve wanted to read actual books but idk any
i prolly got enough to last a lifetime lmao
the biggest problem is choosing between new and old stuff
I was the master reader
Now I just read manga 😭😭😭😭😭
i needa read the expanse and dune
I was a reading FIEND
esp since the last 3 expanse books wont be covered in the tv series
This some important wombat lore you better be writing it down
It will show up on the exam
The last books I read were the scythe trilogy which were real breezy reads despite some pretty glaring flaws
Read each of them in like a day or two tho
i havent got into books yet. cant immerse myself into them
it took me a while to adjust from anime to manga so im slowly getting there
im more of a visual person so yeah reading dont do much for me but ill try
im interested in the dune novels after watching the 2 movies
Books i always gotta be in a specific mood to get to
I wish i could just pick up and read for hours at any time but my attention span’s atrocious
shonen rly be cookin your attention span sometimes
Been reading something recently though so hopefully that puts me back in the groove
i needa get back to watching slow burn prestige series
Watch midnight mass
watch the leftovers
on my watchlist but ill get to it, some other shows higher priority
Has anyone read books called "Deepwork" and "Mindset" are they good to read?
doubt you would find much self help book readers here
🥶
I personally find most of them scammy
They really don't tell anything new
just repackage it in a way that works for someone
"The subtle art of not giving a fuck" worked for me so that's enough self help book for me

Haha I read that one too
They’re all trash
😭
so true
It was so nuts dude
Acolyte e5 ||yeah it was pretty obvious especially after he disappears||
Acolyte ep5 ||but the fact that he killed all the other Jedi including the Padawan was fucking wild||
@sage remnant did dark matter end
Haven't had time to watch it.
Busy : (
fair enough
finale aired yeah
i have apple tv+ so i'll give it a watch after finishing slow horses

The boys s4 e5 || so no way samir saw Kessler right? ||
That was a great episode of the boys
I think fridays?
Oh nice thanks
Yes it did and I thought the ending and the season as a whole was quite good.
Don't think so and hence I believe ||Kessler is not real, also only Butcher talks with him||
Nabbed this guy the other day
I think y’all should watch Merlin
The boondocks
TBBT
Your honor
Heart stopper (but if your into love stories and it’s a gay show mostly)
@modern lichen have you read this
That’s wild
Ya
heart stopper ||as someone who reads and watches a lot of gay romance, this was the most saccharine thing ive ever watched, to the point where you have people rationalizing it as "an idealized and comfortable series for queer people to escape into." If that's what you're into power to you but it feels like a gigantic lie lmao.||
You're

result of typing ur so much due to laziness
Also do you try to keep up with the popular romance books or smth juba
Have you tried taylor jenkins reid
of course, I've read a few of hers
do you like them

i didnt like seven husbands, I liked carrie soto
i read one other one that I disliked
daisy jones?
maybe in another life
seven husbands,|| and all TJR books, sell you a specific morality that you have to buy into. like, both in how relationship issues are framed (in terms of characters being exonerated by the writer for their poor and immoral choices, with little breathing room to wonder the intentionality), but also her general political messaging which I feel is intensely banal, to such an extent that's eyerolling for anyone remotely tapped into the existing discourse. This is... a trend in her writing, basically every aspect (prose, thematic significance, etc.) is bland/filled with tepid observations and repetition (of which self-awareness can only make bearable a certain amount), and when she tries to tell a story that's not literally a template, it falls apart and ends up self-important drivel. Also, I really resent when historical fiction pieces leave the fleshing of their atmosphere to the readers' implicative knowledge of the period/region, and she heavily relies on this in seven husbands... it's a cop-out and makes the world and characters feel somehow more dead than they already are. I guess it's like... okay overall, but it's marketed as far more than it should be, ||
Carrie soto|| managed to dodge this by staying well within the lines of its defined genre, and not trying to be more than itself. I recommend it as essentially a shounen sports manga novel||
my friend hates tjr with every fiber of her being
First, what type of gay romances do you read? Second, I recommended heart stopper because it was a comfortable series like everything was chill it was not saccharine at all it was easy-going
This goes so fuckin hard
yeah, it was excessively chill and easy going haha, to the point of it being saccharine
I read a lot of gay historical romance novels/BL manga
me rn bc juba told me to stfu
go read peerless dad pasto
:(
What was so" excessively" chill and easy going about it? and how was it saccharine? and how was it a gigantic lie?
Ohh so you read those types
Have you ever read Passion?
thats not historical but its very good
heartstopper ||I felt like the entire world was framed in an idealized manner, abstracted from the actual one that LGBTQ people live in. Which is like, fine if you're looking for pure escapism, but felt dishonest to me as a means of legitimately depicting a gay romance and what comes with it, sort of in the same way that|| Green Book ||was a dishonest and overly sentimental view of racism in the south||
sorry, which passion?
there's a lot of stuff named that
haven't read it but I'd be willing to check it out, whatever it is
oh, it's a manga
Oooh, do you have a goodreads or something ?? i like the way you analyze your thoughts lol and curious on what else you’ve read. I’m on a journey to start reading more and recently read Pachinko and The Covenant of Water (took me months to read but so worth it imo!)
have been too lazy to create one... I really should lol. Unlike anime/manga where I bookkept from the beginning, I've been reading for like 20 years and would have to really scour to be comprehensive. I'll make a pinned message with goodreads accounts if I get around to it
|| > I really resent when historical fiction pieces leave the fleshing of their atmosphere to the readers' implicative knowledge of the period/region, and she heavily relies on this in seven husbands... || seven husbands
didn't realize this until you pointed this out lol
seven husbands ||might as well be anywhere in the world with how poorly the "1960s hollywood" thing is elaborated ||
but yeah that's true
did you finish your write up of that
RIGHT
nope will start it now actually
do you have your guilty pleasure reads Juba?
You just seem to approach every work with idk academically or like with a level of sophistication
if that makes sense
which is nice cuz your messages would point out things I would have only caught up on my second readthrough of something but just wondering
carrie soto lol
but yeah i do, a lot of historical gay lit i read is not super rigorous or anything
i just cant read too much of it or i start nagging myself
so I guess the make or break it thing for you in the books or any sort of media is how self aware it is?
how aware it is of the circumstances it was created in
is it escapism? is it trying to reflect its material reality?
what purpose does it serve as a book? is it targeting a demographic?
ah, i see 😄 that would be really cool, thanks!
so the lenses you would judge say smth like Cradle (basically battle shounen but fantasy books) would be different to how you would judge say Lord of the rings
I see
I would, but I'd still have an underlying... suspension of judgement? while reading something like cradle
if im trying to indulge myself
where like, if I were to try to be objective, I could never compare it to something like lord of the rings, but it'd be pretentious to be super detailed/objective in that manner if the thing itself isn't ever trying to be that
true true
but because i dont really guilty pleasure read (I just read on rec a lot of the time), I don't suspend my judgement that much
only when im reading historical BL at this point lmao
or like shima kosaku
lol
which is less of a guilty pleasure read and more of an unintentional comedy
yeah I get that. It's like how I am with urban fantasy but yours would account for way more factors than just that
It's difficult to suspend my disbelief in an urban fantasy cuz all of those world would just feel impossible
every urban fantasy I have read so far
Mad Men spoiler || https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXoILGnHnvM it was a good show ||
Megan Draper (Jessica Paré) sings Zou Bisou Bisou during Don's (Jon Hamm) 'surprise' birthday party and somehow thought he'd be fine with it.

Finished rereading The Golden Compass/Northern Lights
Will write something longer later

This book has caught my attention
This book has a crazy story behind it
I know about it already
I believe the authors like traded back an fourth while writing it
Nah I mean about how a trigun fan made that book into amazon best seller overnight
lmfaooo?
explain
stormlight archive 1 ||my sister read the first shallan chapter and immediately called her a boring character 😭||
How????????????
she read one chapter
i honestly don't understand it either man
maybe that's how
stormlight 1 ||i think she just wanted it to be all like the kaladin chapters||
|| Wasn't first Shallan chapter of her entering Kharbranth? || stormlight 1
|| Shallan's first chapter was stronger than like all Kaladin's chapter before that || stormlight 1
: )
Unless I am remembering wrong
U are
Maybe.
LMFAOOO
stormlight 1 ||yeah it ended just before she meets jasnah||
Stormlight 1 || We learn about so much interesting flora and fauna || : )
|| And Kharbranth is such a wonderful place ||
stormlight 1 ||yeah i liked the shallan chapters in kharbranth aswell, the only times I'd get annoyed is when we get a really hype cliffhanger in a kaladin chapter then get hit with a 36 page shallan one
||
Stormlight 1 || that happened so much in part 2 but with Dalinar and Kaladin chapters ||
how, was this on twitter?
A trigun fan on twitter who never posted anything related to books came with a excited tweet on all caps urging his followers to go into it blind
do u have the tweet?
nvm found it
hi
Vox machina s1 end ||no way they end the season on 4 dragons coming to Emon
thank god i dont have to wait for season 2||
really enjoyed season 1
Red Rising ch 2 || I would be screaming bullshit at the top of my lungs. I’m pretty sure they already have livable places and are not telling the reds. Anyway good story so far can’t wait to see what happens next ||
Good series
waiting for the next book

The bear s3ep1 ||man I can't get over the beautiful shots, this show's cinematography is on point. Also this was a perfect first episode, we get to see a bit of the aftermath from last season's finale and the culmination of Carmy's journey to opening his own restaurant||

Assuming you read books, can you recommend me one?
how old are you?
I’m not gonna say it
The count of monte cristo is my favourite novel but I dont think a lot of younger readers would like it
Finished it
I got goosebumps for the last couple of hours again and again
Just giving you an idea, I’m young
riyria revelations or dandelion dynasty series
I think younger people would prefer red rising series
all of them are really fun
I want to read books like 1984, the silent patient etc
You know, mystery thriller
I havent read either of them, I bought the audiobook for 1984 recently, I will listen to that when I finish this current series
Okay
damn pyx has good taste
Thanks for your recommendation, I’ll try to read it

have you read them?
im on the final book of dandelion dynasty
nice
I didnt really like the 3rd book but the 4th is a lot more fun
have you heard of sun eater
(have found people who have read dandelion dynasty and Red rising to have read Sun eater too hence the question btw )
15 books to read?
im looking at the list and it has a few 2.5 3.5 ect
are they meant to be read?
currently 6 main books are out
it ends with the 7th book
and it's gonna release next year
My favourite book is probably silent patient, has anyone heard of it?
I havent
Believe me, the whole book is just garbage but the starting and the ending is what makes this book a worth reading.
Believe me, yes, there’s mystery in the whole story, but the thing is it makes you think it’s not in the tract but the ending connects it and makes the book legendary
It’s pretty short by the way
Have you read the Harry Potter series?
What’s your opinion on it?
Like prejudice as you haven’t seen it
based...
Dude I'm loving the guest cast of season 3
Season 1 was mid and repetetive, s2 was consitently good and s3 well it was a little inconcistent but peaks been great to sum it up

season 1 was interesting too with || chloe and lucifer's dynamic...||
but agree on the repetitive part
lucifer s2 end||Yeah the chloe and luci dynamic was the only thing that kept the show going and ofc luci's inner conflicts too.. but yeah apart from that they didn't really build on the dynamics much with other characters and like I got to like most of the chars much more in s2 and they did stellar job in that season||
which season was the || forensic girl || introduced? lucifer
Yeppp that one
s5 was where it went to the terrible side for me
Lucifer s3 end||Well cain/marcus wins the best villain award especially after killing charlotte but yeah s2 was well done in terms of consistency and mom was great||
wait
oooo
yess
💀
I will see ig
I wouldn't say I disliked but yeah s1 was very meh and was hard to get through
but yeah after that been hooked

all forgettable eps like 1-2
I legit only remember like 3 things that happen in that season
|| also Trixie the MVP of all season || lucifer

||best character dynamic: Trixie and Lucifer || lucifer
Have you watched this? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0360486/
Lucifer s3 end||Ngl maze been done dirty this season, I loved her so much but she has been portrayed so dumb this season
||
would recommend
Recomend me a series
Finished poor things finally, really weird but great movie

Considering the overall box office market I think Disney as well would prefer some safe layups that generate a solid revenue and profit. It's been rough for theaters before inside out so at least they're getting solid traffic in the summer to help things out

Same Tag ||Extreme contrast.||
HOTD 2x3 ||Makes sense. Viserys was a great parental figure, and some of those traits passed on to Rhaneyra. Meanwhile Otto put the legacy of his house over everything. Unfortunate||
HotD Ep 3 || actually good observation, i liked when Haleana told her that she forgave her, Alicent wasnt expecting that ||
ngl episode was peam
lets goooo
HOTD 2x3 ||Watching Cole fail spectacularly has been fun ngl. He's so out of his depths.||
HOTD 2x3 ||Viserys was a great parental figure to Rhaneyra, tbh. He always treated Allicent with slight malcontent that she would never be Aemma. Viserys' alienation of Aemond, Aegon, and Daeron lowkey elevated this conflict.||
HOTD 2x3 ||Helaena is one of the most tragic characters in the history of television already. She has no choice in anything. It's so sad.||
HOTD 2x3 ||The issue was compounded by his mental decline. I wonder how a healthy Viserys would have treated his children with Alicient.||
HotD Book Spoilers || I read her wiki page, she really is tragic, considering she is like truly a good person oh well ||
HOTD 2x3 ||Sadly GRRM is a sadist, so ofc the sweetest character gets treated so poorly. ||
HOTD 2x3 ||IMO not much better. After he decided on Rhaenyra as his heir, but ended up re-marrying and having the sons he actually wanted, I feel like he was ready to set that chapter of succession behind him entirely. I feel like the more he entertained Aegon/Aemond/Daeron, the more likely the sons would feel they might have a chance of being re-named the heir to the Iron Throne.||
HOTD 2x3 ||That scene between Alicient and Rhanerya was incredible man. I was totally locked in.||
HOTD 2x3 ||It was tense but to be honest I feel like Rhaneyra knew that was gonna go absolutely nowhere.||
HotD Ep3 || SAME, i was so locked in and whenever alicent or Rhane screamed i worried the guards would hear it was insane||
HOTD 2x3 ||The optimist in me imagines a reality where Aemond, Aegon and Daeron grow up to be well adjusted, but you're probably right lol. ||
HOTD 2x3 ||What makes you say that?||
HOTD 2x3 ||At the beginning of the episode when Erryk and Arryk are being buried. Rhaenys says plainly that Otto isn't capable of such a thing, and she's right. Arryk was of the Kingsguard, so Rhaneyra should've suspected in the first place that there's only two culprits that could be responsible. Allicent and Criston Cole. And they are both deeply in Council with each other.||
HOTD 2x3 ||Also at that point, I do not think Rhaneyra or Rhaenys were aware Otto was replaced as Hand of the King. Criston Cole covered his tracks brilliantly. If I was Rhaneyra, I would've assumed Allicent was behind it.||
HOTD 2x3: ||So you think she went through with it out of respect for Rhaenys? I get a sense that she looks up to her in a way. ||
HOTD 2x3: ||More than likely. Rhaenys has shown herself to be a voice of wisdom before. I think she went through with it mainly because she needed to see whether or not Allicent was actually behind it. If Allicent WAS behind it, she would've screamed instantly for guards I think at the sight of her and the dagger.||
HOTD 2x3: ||Risky move. She's a Targaryen through and through. ||
HotD 2x3 || extremly risky, i wonder what the consequences of this meeting will be, Rhaneeyra will be more confident in her claim, and Alicent may start to doubt her decision, and that doubt may flow to Aegon/criston via osmosis ||
HOTD 2x3 ||In Allicent’s defense, she probably thought she was absolutely justified. Viserys whispered of “Aegon.” How was she supposed to know he was talking about the Conqueror and not their son?||
HOTD 2x3:|| I'm excited to see Alicient's change of demeanor moving forward. Once the bloodshed goes into full swing, the guilt is going to eat at her. ||
HOTD S1spoilers ||One thing I noticed rewatching season 1 is the differences between Daemon and Viserys. Daemon was going to actually talk to Laena about the decision of cutting the child out of her. Viserys just made the decision brutishly.||
HOTD S1:|| Good point. I suspect the pressure of providing a male heir was too much for Viserys. I wonder how Daemon would have handled it if he was in that same position.||
HotD 2v3 || love the discussions ❤️ ||
HOTD 2x3 ||Apparently those eggs Baela took with her are Daenerys'? ||
HotD 2x3 yup
Idk yeah looks kinda generic
HotD upcoming spoilers ||Im really curious to see Daeron’s dynamic in the show and how he’ll be portrayed, the youngest son of Viserys and Allicent. Sounds like he’s liked by Aegon and Aemond. Apparently according to directors, he won’t be on-screen until season 3.||
HOTD S3: ||I heard the same thing. I haven't read the books but apparently he's a badass. I can't wait to see him. ||
HOTD books: ||Apparently according to the books he's the most "popular" and "gentlest" of his siblings, yet he still hates Jace and Luke and is a huge supporter of the Greens. Otto mentions in S2xE2 he got sent to Oldtown to live with the Hightowers. I think they did make an overslight not having Daeron be present for Aegon's coronation, though. That seems like something Daeron would DEFINITELY be there for, but then again the coronation was rather rushed.||
Won’t be able to watch the new episode of House of the Dragon today but I hope it’s good, last episode was pretty good
It’s only one book: Fire and Blood which tells the whole Targaryen story, it’s not a long one in the book
I do recommend that though, good read
Thank you for clarifyin blud
ASOIAF/Fire and Blood || I’m most excited by Aegon’s conquest being fleshed out, that’s where everything changes for Westeros and it’s just so badass ||
HOTD 2x3 ||This latest episode mentions his attack on Harrenhall and that shit sounds awesome. I haven't read anything outside of ASOIAF but I may get into the other books. ||
HOTD 2x3/ASOIAF || He burns it with Balerion until the stone melted, which is insane ||
HotD 2x3 ||Lmao the final scene was great. The look on Allicent’s face as she finds out just how royal of a fuck up she did and Rhaenyra smirking like “this dumb bitch, I knew I was right”||
||Even after the child killing incident, the Green side are just infinitely more hateable lmao ||
im thinkin ill start by the time its all released. been occupied reading manga
prob like 15 days till season finale
The first trailer for ‘HELLBOY: THE CROOKED MAN’ has been released
In theaters later this year.
What the fuck is this shit man
im watching brokeback mountain rn ngl its better tham I expected
Great movie
im not gonna lie tho ||i was on discord for a second and then i reopened the tab i was watching it in and suddenly it like skipped 2 whole minutes and i got flashed with ennis and jack making out|| brockeback mountain spoilers
😭😭🙏🙏
it was like at the 1h mark
HOTD 2x3 ||Cannot wait to see how Allicent's guilt changes. She may maintain her aura of justification for now but once the War starts and people close to her start dying, I imagine her changes in mannerism will be noticeable. And that final scene was great. Season 2 has been keeping us on the edges of our seats during the last 10-15 minute span of every episode so far.||
HotD 2x3 || https://x.com/_chongyy/status/1807597608711655507 😭 ||
I finished season 3 of the bear
The bear s3ep10 ||overall idk how to feel about the season. there were some episodes that even though were great, they didn't work for me for in the grand scheme of things. I loved Tina's episode and Sugar having her baby but they just felt like side stories and didn't add to the story of the restaurant. Idk maybe I missed something and someone here can tell me lol||
Prolly gonna start blocking and muting accounts that post shots from the new Superman movie
Mad cool but it’s so much
There is a new Superman movie? What's the name
Superman
Was Superman legacy but now it’s just Superman
Man I rewatched deadpool not long ago and it made me less excited for deadpool 3 lmao I forgot how annoying these movies can be
the cameo fest that dp3 is apparently going to be is making me cringe
i havent kept up with the leaks/trailers but just seeing memes about it
What a Queen
My brother had to go through something similar, but in his case it was because he was legit mauled by a negligent owner’s dog at a park

Journey Into Mystery #123
Journey Into Mystery #123
Wow quiet place was good but damn short
Been hearing surprisingly good things
I enjoyed the first 2 but definitely lost interest in the series, but might check it out now when its out on digital/if its still in the theatre in a few months
This is literally me rn
Superman || https://fixupx.com/bvengeance267/status/1807886861685194786?s=46 || the stuff dreams are made of
I wish they went the routh route for the suit. If there’s one hero that doesn’t need this mass effect battle armor body suit it’s freaking Superman
He looks good though
He’s actually huge apparently but I think this is like pretty minimal in terms of the suit being padded up, the loose tactile feel of it plus the trunks and that cape makes up for the padding, it looked ugly in that first promotional image though
I’ll have to see how it looks post production to really give an accurate assessment but I’m just not a huge fan of the tactical lines
Sandman s2 cast || https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1808139435944419674?t=qkop-RCaz_diaKMRLV7S7A&s=19 ||
@modern lichen ^
That’s a stacked fuckin cast
Yeah it looks nuts
JACK IS BACK
Thought he retired from acting after GOT
So happy he’s continuing, phenomenal talent
The bear ep 6 || Michael is John Bernthal???? Not what i was expecting ||
New Hellboy looks rough
(The Bear S3)
I agree, I think the ||Tina episode was terrific but felt very out of place- why were we getting it now? What purpose did it serve in the context of the episodes surrounding it or Tina's arc in the season as a whole?
Would have felt much more impactful/meaningful had it come during her struggles to adjust to Sydney in S1 or during S2 as each character got devoted episodes||
Steve Coogan’s thumb was taking me the fuck out
You know why I love this show, I think each season of this show acts as a part of a 3 act film
And I think that’s why people don’t like this one much
The Bear S3 || this season is the third act low point, a point where all the characters we know are inundated by conflicts to their self internally as well as external conflicts, there’s a certain threshold that must be passed for them to gather their bearings, get themselves composed and emerge out of their conflicts, which is how the third act ends, the third and fourth season together are the 3rd act, pretty much why people have said it feels like filler too, the conflicts are overwhelming the characters ||
The Bear S3 || every character at the end of the season is at their limits or almost done, it’s the resurgence of them that comes next and it’s going to be glorious, Carmy and Syd particularly are the most openly visible changing characters, Syd gets opportunities but she’s given many conflicts and disappointment, Carmy has to see how bad he’s fucking it all up by the end of the season and has to gather his bearings now ||
Another thing is that the full collective drop has hurt the way each episode is looked at and consumed, which means that people notice things in big strokes rather than minutely with each episode given the time to mull and ruminate
I was watching a 1976 video where Stan Lee interviews Roy Thomas about his (at the time) decade at Marvel when suddenly
Sometimes I forget the person in that meme is Peter lmao

Finished it
I shed a tear bro
Gay cowboys goes hard
||“I wish I knew how to quit you“ 😭😭😭😭😭😭 BRO I CANT DO THIS||
brokeback
moutnsin spoielrs
RIGHT
Yep. And he's fantastic in every scene he's in
this is crazy
What would that art even be for, i read all 70s spiderman and dont remember that
Well, not team up
Stan lee's idea?
For sure
He was always getting up to some bullshit to try and escape comics and become legitmate
sorry for the ping but this is why I enjoy reading other people's opinions on here, it helps me understand anything I might have missed
theres this one comic about like a cat woman like figure whos also a pop idol and he hired an actual musican to be the basis for the character, it lasted a single issue i think
You can find signed copies of it for like 10$ as well
His own words "this is not kiddie stuff, is a real rock album"
wow this fucking sucks
im on the second song
Good album cover though
lmao figures
Glad you thought that said something, I thought it was dumb initially when I posted it
lol
There’s a song called web slinger hope bringer on YouTube, it’s pretty nice
its similar to the argument of weekly OP vs binge
We love Spider-Man and were inspired to write a song from his perspective.

Anyone see MI7? ||they killed Ilsa of for the new chick. Garbage show||
Do y’all enjoy jeopardy
my family used to watch it almost every night, my mom loves it. I dont have tv anymore though just streaming
The bear S3E5 || John cena is here LOL I fkin love this show ||
opposite reaction to me haha
wtf happened to this show?
I guess "wtf happened" is the wrong way to phrase this
Yea I get it Bear S3-5 || the haunting shit is getting a bit annoying ||
the bear ||seems to be trying to do something higher concept at this point, but it lost its charm in the process imo. The grounding aspects in the kitchen and the internal conflicts are intentionally conflicted with one another, but now they're so far apart that it feels like a ridiculous exercise. Like, there are obviously some good stories/episodes explored here, and I can appreciate the effort, but the story has contrived itself to get to those stories and I'm just taken out of it lol. Kind of like a less effective version of ||Somebody Somewhere, ||I guess, which I think handled everything wonderfully||
We have enough crazy already
man this is kind of like
mean to say i guess lol, and also a non-complaint
but I wish the characters in the bear were just uglier
it's another one of the many series that I get sliiiightly taken out of it due to the clash of their attractiveness and their work
which isn't to say attractive people can't be line cooks or whatever tf lol
but that actors are very attractive
ill say it again but somebody somewhere nails this!
like it's fine if you're suits and everyone is a professional and so forth, or succession ofc
idk how to say i think a lot of them are ugly already or rather... sliughtly everyday looking?
but ig i get you
lol
I'd say they're all pretty attractive pasto idk
except that fat youtuber
you think jeremy allan white is attractive?>????????? he's not like ugly but if i saw him in public i'd ask where gromit was
no flame
i think they're all more or less so people i'd see in public on a decent day
minnesota got some uggos
ok so like
sort of?
he's got a unique look
but there are a TON of women who think he's attractive
I think he's one of those dudes that like... men don't find conventionally attractive, but still has an appeal to a bunch of women
like he's no chris hemsworth lol but not every woman is looking for that
i think his popularity and how he carries himself is the attractive part to women maybe? bc he's not like stare at him in public ugly but he's not i'd switch sides attractive
the what
oh yeah ok lmao
if you said this a couple days ago I wouldve called you a bigot
women want a lil ratty bi guy
dw bro one of my homies is bi leaning lesbian
like ratty healy or whoever else
she michael jacksons for you?
im not sure what a bi leaning lesbian is
HEE HEE
i think my idea of attractive strange lookin men is like
barry keoghan
pride month is over bro. you dont needa say anything more
ben schwartz IK HE AINT UGLY OR STRANGE BUT HE RATTY N SILLY, david dastmalchian, uhhh
blanking rn
i think barry does too much like really tryna stand out n be different?
i love his smooth fave
probably ya
Donald Sutherland is an attractive strange looking man
HE'S MY PLASTIC MAN
david dastmalchian is a good choice
Bill Hader falls in that too
bill hader looks like he makes faces at kids while their parents aren't looking
bill hader is just attractive I think, with poor style
partly for comedic effect
though he has a huge ass forehead
Barry has him in different looks, pretty great showing for him in that show
but yeah, you ask 100 women and 100 men if this guy is attractive
75 women say yes, 10 men say yes
I hate this fucking guy
ratty is not easy to like
Matty Healy is devil spawn and needs to be condemned to hell
Theres something weird about how his hair looks in this pic
Send him to The Hague
It doesn’t look real
bouta make a board of men i think are attractive or maybe more so i lean towards not sexually but idk
i think the beauty standard is weird
to each their own tho
ion like super sexy and ion like flushed away mc
i think matthew lillard is like attractive bc he's silly and has a cool vibe?
pasto's #1
it's tough for me to say honestly
ig i just like vibes more
ok this is a weird thing to say
but i am like bad at telling how attractive black men are
same with women ion find too many women like ATTRACTIOVE
they're all pretty attractive to me for the most part
there's like objectively attractive like ig blanking on a name rn
ana de armas? and yeah she is but she's not that level to me where i'd walk into traffic bc she's not w me
asap rocky
that dude is so fuckin skinny
that aint a woman plus he gon be mad when he realize his kids are actually mine
fr?
didnt know u were into foreheads like that pasto
i was chasing the bag
yeah looking up men i think are attractive is hard bc i'm more so gravitating towards vibe ig
i think noah centineo is attractive but not the way teenage girls find him attractive
but tbf i'm biased bc i love the hero he played, atom smasher, and i thought he played him really well even if it was a minor role
just not into the super muscular sexy guys or the dudes that look like they don't shower, chain smoke, and manipulate suicidal girls
tag yourself pasto
im first
ur second
how is that girl going btw pasto
wait til i take my sleeping pills and addy i'm hunting you down

@young compass what would you consider dev patel on the attractive scale
not sure if i spelt that right
like out of 10?
he's hot
i think he is very attractive too but not in the beef cake or rat way
like in the middle ig
yeah
yeah if i was going to go all 4chan phrenologist id probably say this or that but he's hot
feel i have too much bias bc vibe is a big factor for me
most of the dudes on the list is mainly bc i liked them in other roles
lot being dc xd
for sure but i think i only care about it really if I know the person
with actors they're just like
a picture on the screen
that's fair
i just categorize them into overly hot, rad n epic, and ratty
if i do at all
Rat way is timothee side of the scale, right?
yeah
Dev Patel would be p close to that
i don't have any strong feelings towards dev was just kinda curious maybe since he's not a mega mega big name
also i genuinely don't get what anyone sees in timothee appearance wise
I would say he's p good looking
he's about to morph into a great dane or something
True those cheekbones do make it feel that way
or a rat
if i turned around and he was right behind me i'd spray him with bug spray
not ugly but alarming to me
This guy was kinda unique attractive but has since injected so much filler in his face that he looks like a kardashian
it makes him look weirder
And also being called a sexy rat is so lol
That’s so crazy that a publication would post that
It’s time
I actually can’t decide if I think Jeremy Allen White is really good looking or if he’s eh. I remember when I saw clips of him in Shameless, I thought he was pretty ugly and odd looking. But ig getting a bit more jacked has helped him grow into a unique face like that lol. But I still can’t tell. Have a friend who thinks he’s the hottest human on planet earth
RRR || wasn’t expecting a song and dance number, i loved every second of it ||
Only a third of the way in and I’m already in love with this movie
he is
swear to god its all i can think about watching the bear
saw kinds of kindness yday, definitley one of yorgos most weirdest films and that says a lot. mixed reception but im happy i saw it cinema tbh I dont know if I could sit through it at home in front of the tv
Finished RRR, incredible movie
Very good
10/10, might actually be in my top 10 of all time, was not expecting it to be this amazing
I’m very proud of a movie that is in my mother tongue being the pride of India and the world
I need to watch RRR, been on my list forever
RRR || i’ve heard good things about the action but it blew me away completely, And Raju and Bheem
||
You do
RRR || Alluri Seetarama Raju and Komaram Bheem are real life revolutionaries ||
3 hour run times just intimidate me
You need to man up actually
RRR also flows by extremely fast
Barely felt like an hour
RRR ||i remember hearing about this before going in ||
RRR ||they never met in real life and operated in different areas but both of them have a convenient gap in their histories of the same duration in the same years, almost 4 years||
RRR ||this is how raju actually looked like in real life, he was a warrior saint who led guerilla battles against the british||
Now to decide wether to watch everything everywhere all at once or parasite now
The bear season 2
Thats for the weekend
@sage remnant yeah I am not liking the direction of Lucifer S4...
Parasite time
good choice parasite is fire
Lucifer S4||Not introduced yet but yeah the whole chloe getting manipulated by kinley is not something I am liking cause it just feels so out of character for Chloe||
s4 is where it starts to get super meh
s5 is where it gets unwatchable
actually now I am interested 💀
Lucifer s4||So chloe being manipulated stuff was dumb and I thought that would last for the entire season but guess not, but I am liking the game father kinley been playing and eve just got introduced at the end of ep 3... so yeah let's see||
The Boys
True
Finished parasite, fantastic movie
Now to try squeeze in a third movie before i fall asleep, trying to start my break movie binge strong
Rec me some movies
Se7en
The prestige
Ford vs ferrari
@fickle ember @crimson lance post wells amazing spiderman || https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1808534093782544862/photo/1 ||
You’re better than this room
my condolences to whoever watches the cw dc shows past the first season (except superman and lois, that's actually good)
Speaking of awful spiderman books
Called it a year ago.
Spider-Man Reign 2 features a load of gross screenshots of AI images in the backgrounds of panels... Even after knowing it was coming, I'm just so upset
Looks like marvel is getting caught using ai for the first time in their books
I just flipped through the issue myself and like 90% of the backgrounds are clearly AI garbage
so unfortunate
@opaque zinc Django Unchained || while I agree it’s a lot of saying the n-word but Tarantino is not sympathetic to those who say it and they get punished in more brutal ways than any other Tarantino film imo ||
Django Unchained || while it’s a bit troubling, the characters saying it are exaggerated and are mostly racist fools in the film who have not even a quarter inkling of the smarts required to be a decent human being and Tarantino just fuckin kills them in amazing ways as comeuppance ||
||Ironically enough, the n-word use itself is the last of my personal issues with digesting the film. From what I saw before I balked, the film is very well made; as a Nat Turner stan/Haitain revolution enjoyer, I'm no stranger to enjoying colonizer comeuppance. I think my reticence about the film comes from the indulgent portrayal of the era by a man that I feel is too comfortable with/has fetishized his involvement with Black American culture and politics.||
||On an objective level, I'm sure it gets an A when checking the boxes in a filmmaking report card. I hope I'm being very clear that my issue is personal. I was actually pretty engaged as a viewer until that Sambo wrestling scene, which really just wasn't enjoyable to view while in an otherwise entertainment-oriented mindset.||
Django Unchained || I can see that but I think he casts a truly empathetic thematic eye at the exploitation genre and spins it to be a triumphant hero’s journey so I thought it was a glorification of the fortitude of the underdog and empathetic people rather than tacit fetishization ||
Django Unchained || the sambo wrestling scene came with the setup of making us see the effects of trying to escape and it just heightens my anticipation to see these motherfuckers die a horrible death, they get their comeuppance pretty brutally if you watch the rest of it because they’re pretty much idiots ||
||Totally understood. I feel like my issue is an inversion of Suspension of Disbelief, as if it was hard to digest the solid entertainment value while watching very real, unnecessary, and ancillary tenets of how slavery was conducted in the South. Might give it another try if it's less "here's how bad the Blacks had it" and more "slave-descendant power fantasy" as the movie goes on. Just wasn't really in the mood to try and find out at the time.||
Yeah, more than fair enough reason not to finish it
To put it bluntly, I might have had more of a desire to power through if it weren't directed by a man I was introduced to via "dead N storage"
Appreciate the discussion and willingness to listen, though. Most people just handwave my reluctance to finish the movie
I get it, there are some movies and books and manga I refuse to touch because of stuff similar to what you have reasoned
It's perfectly understandable to question Tarantino's comfort with the N-word, even when he places it in the historical context in Django
It’s always so funny when he casts himself in the role of the dude that says it
What did he mean by that
Yeah, didn’t he… lmao now that you mention it
I feel like he’s done it a fair bit but the only one that comes to mind is his small role in pulp fiction
But something in the back of my mind is that he’s had a cameo role in a lot of his films and he’s said it a few times lol

wtf lol
