Formats of release and production

Western comics used floppy releases. Go to your supermarket or local comic shop and buy this months release. Archie, DC and Marvel, even independent stuff. Stories that in their limited page count, and because the process of doing the art becomes slower when its full color with separate inkers and colorists in a larger production, needed to have a higher word density

Whereas most Japanese comics that are actually popular come from magazines or webtoons where you're in a subscription system. Largely bw and by one guy with a handful of assistants. The stories slow down and focus more on feeling cinematic and on the details cuz they're meant to go for a while, keeping you hooked for the next beat next week

Finally finished Dune and I didn't love it. Not going to read the sequels. ||Imo, the book is quite dense and frankly depressing. There are hardly any moments of humor, joy, hope, lightheartedness, etc. Most characters aren't compelling and Paul is straight up unlikeable. (I get it that is the point, but still). I don't care much for the plot either - the last thing I'd want to read about in the next book is Paul's jihad through the universe. It just doesn't interest me.||
