Doctor who 60th special 2 ||The answers to the mystery are so fucking good, especially the dialogue that delivers it. When it's revealed the captain killed herself in order to stop the not-things, it lets the moment sink. At the start of the episode as well, the first thing the Doctor questions is: "Why has someone put a very old robot to very slowly walk down a very long corridor?" So it being tied with the captain so well, and how he said she was "calm as a zen master".

Honestly, that whole reveal segment is so fucking perfectly paced AND placed. Just... Wow. RTD can write||

||ALSO someone mentioned the tone when the doctor and donna are separated from each other but they are trying to figure out if the other person is real. With the real Doctor, the tone is more serious and melancholic, whereas with real Donna, the tone is more playful and witty, leading to the masterpiece that is David's contortionist double which is nightmare fuel to me||

||ALSO ALSO, RTD tried to replicate the speech from the 4th doctor's "The Ark in Space", but the way he adapted it to Donna thinking about how her family will move on and the Doctor talking about civilisations being built around the TARDIS until monorails and skyscrapers appear (which actually reflects the loss of identity in modern cities)||
