Since it popped back up into my head, Annihilation was a good horror film
Fucking great visuals, good characters. A bit sloppy editing and an ending I still don't fully understand but holy fuck it has one of my favourite horror scenes ever.
Specifically ||when they reach the camp and check the footage of the previous expedition, and it shows them cutting an alive dudes stomach open to show that his intestines are moving like a snake. I've never been so disgusted and genuinely unnerved in my life 10/10 however will never watch again lmao||

charlie and the chocolate factory burton version || burton's aesthetic choices were fine but he changes so many things about the core of the story, he adds a useless backstory for wonka that doesnt engage with the story properly and tries to be something extra melodramatic, the point of the story is that wonka is an enigma in the story till the end and even then we dont know his full past, the story ends with charlie readily and innocently going along with wonka, i dont know why burton added some other shit to the ending that does nothing for the emotional catharsis of the movie and just serves to be bad canon fodder for some sort of a "happy ending" where both wonka and charlie find closure from the past??? ||

||again, the problem is wonka's story being explored which is totally unneeded and being shoehorned which means that he forces charlie to be this sort of a realization point? charlie rejects wonka because wonka is like "fuck you you cant bring your family here and you must be alone" because of his shitty emotional baggage??? idk what the fuck burton was cooking with that. The kids in this version were cool but burton exaggerates the edgy nature of these kids so hard that it becomes stupid || @fallow saffron @boreal vale

The emotional stuff with the contrast between charlie/whatever his uncle's name was and Wonka/his father was cheesy sure, but it's exaggerated to almost the point of humor so we're not supposed to engage on it so deeply. It's just supposed to send a message of 'family is more important than wealth' which matches Charlie very well compared to the other children's vices|| charlie choc factory

St s4||I think what went wrong with time for many people in this series was the character dynamics , like everyone loved the dustin,mike , will and lucas pair . But then the series kinda played with the dynamics in following seasons and it had it's up and downs which like ig audience didn't liked . It was kinda annoying for me too at first but well , I certainly looked for stuff to get fixed again and again. But yeah I hated how the 4 were seperated after season 1 ,especially will . Since I am talking about dynamics , my fav duo of the series is surely dustin and steve, those 2 rock together man lmao||
