Mario Movie || just one example is mario and luigi's father being voiced by charles martinet, and theres a pretty cute scene at the end where he hugs them and says "my boys" or w/e. Just one example, but like they didnt just throw random shit iin there for random references exclusively. They played with the idea of charles martinet not voicing mario and luigi like he does in the games, and give him a role befitting of him.

Theres obviously other stuff, like cool references or respect for the source material, and you can just tell the people making it had a lot of fun. As someone that usually hates pandering in stuff like this, it really is just the best case scenario for a mario movie. Nobody was expecting a good plot, its fucking mario. What they needed to nail was the respect given to the source material, and they did that ||

ATSV ||first its entirely the prowler's theme dominating the score, a somber mood comes on where miles theme and prowler theme are fighting for control and when miles theme is just about to be drowned out, the drums come in with gwen's motif and it goes out triumphantly as it entirely becomes miles theme and then enters into the general spider-man with gwen's influence because of the drums and guitar because of spider=punk and the others alongside gwen and ends with aplomb||

You can probably draw a parallel between Miguel O' Hara/Turbo, and Miles Morales/Wreck It Ralph.
