maybe ill go see it now
@brave orbit yo

I didn't feel this way about Moffat's finale #1 so we are off to a good start
but yeah finished s5, that was pretty great!

I love the first half, the second half makes no sense
doctor who s5 end || did think it was kinda weird that the main silence mystery drags on for even longer and we still didnt know why tardis was blowing up but its whatever||
you need a bigger brain to understand tbf...
doctor who s5 end ||or how the doctor escapes the pandorica||
|| that was the classic time travel bs that I actually dont mind||
doctor who s5 end ||Young amelia disappearing after her plot is not needed anymore is hilarious||
doctor who s5 end || well, everything was disappearing, they only survived because they were at the eye of the storm||
doctor who s5 end || oh yeah the dalek begging for mercy was that moment where I have finally given up on my hopes for daleks||
|| it feels like I am asking for Arlong to be a threat when we are at fucking idk, Kaido||
well i am exaggerating but you get the idea
doctor who s5 end || https://youtu.be/AQTjvI7OynQ?t=217 these are my thoughts on the ep as well (timestamp)||
After everything done in the previous episode, Moffat had a ton of things to tie up. And he focused on it so hard he forgot to make sure the core story actually worked as anything more than logistical knot untying exercise.

i timestamped
well i disagree
|| its a very tightly written finale where every little piece is cleverly put in place, too cleverly in fact that it may feel like the doctor is too invincible due to his brain sometimes but I don't think that took away from my enjoyment, that kinda of sherlock-y bs is pretty fun to watch already but it didnt sacrifice the emotional core of the story while this all "oh i have everything planned what a genius I am!" bs was happening on the surface||
doctor who s5 end
oh I didn't watch the whole video btw
i just took that one minute and figured that was where the guy was heading with his point
i just disagree
||I do think it has some genuinely clever stuff, like the doctor going back to time of the angels to give Amy a pep talk and its actually foreshadowed there, but the justification for it is kind of random too? It's like "it's so she doesn't forget me" sounds 1. kind of manipulative 2. kind of... unnecessary because it's not like he wasn't there? And it's not even that he had to overcome a flaw to muster up the courage to give the pep talk or something, it's just treated as some puzzle where the actual characters aren't really impacting the plot at all outside of some cute interactions|| doctor who s5 end
doctor who s5 end || Yeah i didn't really see it as that personally, both the Doctor and Amy really cared for each other and the Doctor had already been beating himself up over Amy previously forgetting about one of her beloveds in Rory. I think he simply didnt want her to go through that again rather than it being a random piece of some manipulative plan of his to resurrect or w/e lol||
|| that was what I really liked about the finale actually, that ofc there is this really cleverly, too cleverly put plan going in motion on the surface but what motivates all these characters were what they went through earlier in the season, their very human relationships, its all setup very nicely from the start||
doctor who s5 end || its not all "okay now this piece of the puzzle is fitting in there, now that, oh look how cleverly the doctor pulled through this situation" nah||
oh yeah speaking of the end
am i supposed to watch torchwood s4 now?
LOL
it's better left... untouched
that bad huh
It's an american production for one
(well final until 2023)
and RTD's husband got cancer midway through production so he had to quit
so its not as well written
Tbf the main premise is super interesting
torchwood s4 ||Everyone on earth stops dying one day, and a p*dophile survives execution||
its just 10 episodes so i can prolly quickly watch it
if its set after dr who s5 then i will just start it then
ah
it's not really mentioned anywhere in the series afaik
actually caused some drama between moffat and john barrowman
yeah then i can just start it right now, it did air around the same time as s6 of dr who lol
btw, tbere is a christmas special for DW
a Christmas carol?
yea
will just watch after torchwood

Anual tradition
its not a race
Man. The new dragon prince season sucked

Woah is that the basketball michael jordan
You used that joke the other day
Thank fuck this poster looks good
I'm sure the main poster is going to be the same fuckin floating heads shit
Is this a marvel movie
you damn right Know it will
teaser posters are always cool
You can read
Even The Batman has one shitty main poster, despite having some of the best posters ever
They tried to make it look good though
They tried very hard
The movie being named the marvels doesnt mean it is a marvel movie...
there's a marvel studios logo right there

Heard it was gonna be a musical
Musical + miss marvel is hype tbh

Ippo inspiration
i heard this, will actually check it out
thats one way to get me to watch something, mention ippo
You should watch pushing daisies, it’s like Ippo without the boxing
Or dick jokes
And stagnant romance

great casting but
this is not needed
all the live action movies aren't needed and yet here we are
That, the dragonball hunch, actually sounds awesome, I still have my suspicions for the movie though, its micheal b jordans directing debut.
Pretty much
I've been reading too many different books, it's hard to follow
I shouldn't have started RoW, Mistborn, AND Warbreaker at the same time
@scenic frost
Stormlight fans (not y'all) confused me with their supposedly order smh
Bruh
Go finish warbreaker
Then choose the next
Also I blame @brave orbit based on info available to me
https://twitter.com/IndieWire/status/1625736666345242624?t=RUemFHd8F519RBD8989eDg&s=19 Kevin Feige just found out how TV shows are supposed to work

I can say without a doubt that Puss in Boots is one of the best animated movies ever
I did that LOL
I saw it before avatar 2
I knew which one I was going to enjoy more
avatar was exactly what I excpect it to be
I bet you it won't win the Oscar because they're known to pick whatever their kids like for that category
Or Disney
I forced my friends to come with me the second time I saw it
I've seen puss in boots like 3 times in the theather
it wont win
but not for those reasons
Guillermo is there
no one else stands a chance sadly

yesterday before antman we were standing at the front waiting on other friends and we just started staring at the avatar 2 poster saying we shoulda seen puss in boots lol
i rewatched the first one 2 weeks ago

i liked the first 2 antman movies
didn't realize the second one sorta sucked til a while later but I LOVE PAUL RUDD
paul rudd, jason mamoa, ben schwartz can do war crimes and i'd take the blame
antman?
whenever people say stuff like that about a marvel movie
I know I probably wont like it
I used to be a big fan
I'm not skipping this movie just because of Kang
but I think I'll sign off with Vol. 3
just finished it

im nostalgic of TWoK
You haven't even finished Stormlight 4 yet how can you already be nostalgic for twok
Lol
Just watched Everything Everywhere All At Once: ||What a strange movie. The mechanics around connecting to other universes felt really original and endlessly creative. More importantly, the movie’s message and monologues at the end were really nice/heavy and I liked how it carried across every universe, even when they were at the “rock universe”
. But the initial character motivations (the enemy being her daughter, the “everything bagel”) and some of the “requirements” to connect to a different dimension weren’t the best imho, felt a little too comical and underwhelming because I hoped this would be a mostly serious story. Anyway it was nice overall, just felt a little conflicted for waiting this long and not immediately loving it as much as I thought I would.||
The police story movies probably has the greatest stunt work of all time
No
Is it just me or are people tired of seeing the Rock playing the Rock in every film?
yes

Marvel? What is that? Never heard of it.....

The guy knows about mid, he basically invented it
No way Taxi Driver is mid
I know right
I loved Doctor Who, but after awhile I got bored with it.
It still has a special place in my heart, but I don't think I'll rewatch it.
scorsese may be the greatest living filmmaker today

Shit on deez nutz instead

The greatest filmmaker of all time doesn't make a timewaster such as the irishman
I didn't say of all time, I said one of the greatest
Irishman was not his best movie but it’s still very good
Scorseses love for the medium is very admirable
Copium incarnate

I literally just started the king of comedy lol, what a coincidence
I don't think he's trolling
If you say Irishman is anything other than bad then you make matters worse

it was a rumour in the past as well, it emerged again by this guy

Honestly, the thing that makes it likely for me was what he said as a comment on why he isn't
"It would be career madness, even by my standards, to go back in a junior capacity to a show I used to run. I'd have to be insane to do that..."
Sounds like the type of thing he'd say if he came back...

Never watching that
the fact that the rock doesn't have an accent and its never brought up is fucking hilarious
There was a decent 5-10 minutes where the movie was entertaining
@trim crown Life is Beautiful ||my main issue is that the film totally trivialises the Holocaust. Seriously, let's begin w the fact that the first HALF, an entire hour, is dedicated to Guido acting as if he's Mr Bean, going around swapping hats with the fascist, impressing the girl through a series of antics, getting the girl like he's fucking bugs bunny or something...the only mention of the rise of fascism in Italy were a few Mussolini posters, dialogue about disabled peoples, and the class skit about racial purity. Then we actually bring them to the death camp and it's like...just a really tough boot camp? There's no dehumanisation which was inherent to Nazi ideology at the camps, and there's barely any actual death shown. It feels like the Holocaust is a massive subplot and it's absolutely trivialised and weirdly romanticised throughout the film.||
Life is beautiful ||Iirc it was the "strong" point of the movie, that's why it was appreciated, which is wild given how the same year we got schindler's list||
Life is Beautiful ||if it's about any survivor every holocaust film will deliver that "strong" point. Though this does that failing to properly portray it makes it film benign in that aspect and moreso a film about love than anything else. Again, holocaust takes the back seat||
Life is beautiful ||I really don't understand why the movie was so well received||
Life is beautiful ||how much were they in the concentration camp? Because Iirc at the end there was a scene with a tank or smth||
I don't like Life is Beautiful precisely because of this reason as well
just woke up
I fell asleep
that movie sucks
Life is beautiful ||There is nothing trivialised, it just takes a unique perspective on an event that was portrayed many times. And I think it also had a lot of sadness behind the "happy" surface, in that everything we see is through the kid's eyes (who is also kept in the dark about it all)||
Life is beautiful ||Because it is a really unique movie, and i think it handles the light-hearted tone super well purely because of the perspective we see it from ||
life is beautiful || actually wild to say it's trivilalized, if anything it made the message even more powerful because of all the effort the dad is going thru to make sure the kid is kept in the dark about everything. The movie assumes everyone is already familiar with the cruelty so we don't need to be reminded ||
it's not like it's disrespectful or anything so I'm guessing people just went with misplaced expectations
anyway it's one of my favorite movies
Life is beautiful ||the atrocities they commit is always in the background as well, its just that the movie is aware of whose perspective we are seeing it from and always makes sure it is consistent with that ||
Same
Life is beautiful ||About the rise of fascism in italy not being mentioned, i very vividly remember plenty of soldiers and officers reluctantly having to go through orders, which is also one of the main drawbacks of fascism, and seeing as it is very early in the rise of that, it hasnt fully dehumanised anyone yet||
funnily enough this is precisely what the critical divide is too
so its not odd to see these exact opposing points
The negatives outweigh the positives to an insane degree for that movie
Life is Beautiful ||its absolutely a misrepresentation no matter how you slice it. Im not even saying there had to be on screen gassings or firing squads, but the near utter lack of mention in the first half essentially served as the most minor backdrop for a love story. in the second half, as i said, it didnt remotely reflect the reality of these camps and it just felt like an 80s camp film where the campers are trying to fuck with the scoutmaster. I dont get what he was going for here and the execution is banal and ludicrous, even if it has its moments of sadness and "feel good"ness.||
Life is beautiful ||The moments of "feel good"ness are exactly the point the film was trying to achieve, so you agreeing that it does indeed have those moments means it did objectively achieve its scope, criticising other aspects is meaningless because those are essentially nitpicks on the film not being what you think it was.
I don't think the film is perfect by any means as some sections aged badly (and a lot of the humour comes from campy Italian comedy, which I understand isn't for everyone), but I find commendable how it managed to highlight the child-like nature by contrasting it with the horror that happens in the background. Is it 100% accurate? No, but I do think it did choose well on what aspects to include and what to actually show as to not drown out the point||
Life is beautiful ||I also think there is a difference between hurtful messaging (which would be just praising the nazis or fascists) vs not making those aspects accurate, and I think the film went a long way to make sure they are awful people no matter how accurate they are (as they did in fact end up causing the death of Guido)||
Life is Beautiful ||a film achieving its goal isn't necessarily a mark of quality if i disagree with the goal. the reality of the situation is that using the holocaust as a plot device for a movie thats "Feel good" is going to cause issue amongst a significant populace, and quite validly so. yes i understand that there were certainly parts of the holocaust in which the prisoners displayed their humanity and i do think that should be highlighted, but this film does it so ludicrously that the aspect of it being during the holocaust in a death camp takes an extreme back seat, which i seriously find problematic. the inaccuracies are present as i said and as you addressed but the omission of certain realities serves only to soften the blow of how bad the situation actually was. to your most recent message; i agree yes it isnt hurtful intentionally, i dont think he set out to make a film that would purposefully offend people in its inadequacies, but i still just think its terribly unwieldy and frankly inappropriate for most of the film given the context.||
Life is Beautiful ||I find it amazing personally that it showed how life has so much more to offer by contrasting it to the most horrible thing to ever happen to humanity. Not as in "Just get over it", but by having an optimistic and certainly idealistic message, which the movie is completely aware it is idealistic, but only because the atrocities of humanity prevent it to happen
But that is just how I feel about it. Personally I think it gets way more crap thrown at it than it deserves purely because it portrays a kind touchy(?) subject (which again, I'd find a huge problem if it was a hurtful portrayal, but it definitely isn't in this case)||
I love that movie
haven't seen that in years
500 days is not even 2 years

Decided to rewatch the Harry Potter series since I've been feeling a bit nostalgic lately, forgot how fun that 1st movie was
every year I do a christmas marathon of the harry potter movies
and last year I did a re-read of the series
Kinda makes me sad realizing both Alan Rickman and Robert Coltrane are both gone
😭😭
No one else could play Snape and Hagrid, absolutely no one
The actress that played narcissa also died

RIP to her
Also iirc the original actor for Dumbledore died shortly after Chamber of Secrets premiered
Yeah he looked older than what he was
Michael Gambon turned 82 last year so he was in his late 50s to early 60s when he took over the role
Quantumania END || It was fun. The movie was stupid.
The ants carried. ||

Exact same movie as peter Jackson's but they add 15 mins of Tom bombadil
So basically I haven't watched any movie in my life so I wanted to start watching some of the most famous ones
And tonight I watched American Psycho
And I'm very confused to say the least
I loved Bale and Dafoe
It's based off a book I think if you want to check it out

“You know, there’s a promise in the title of ‘Succession’. I’ve never thought this could go on forever. The end has always been kind of present in my mind.”

Goat was a dear friend of Titmouse & a singular human being. He was an inspiration for so many of the characters in the shows we've produced spanning 2 decades. #MegasXLR, #MotorCity, #TURBO, #Downtown #Metalocalypse + more. We were lucky to have known him. He will be missed. xo

Congrats malchik!

Just did a rewatch of Harry Potter 2, I love how cheesy the ending was
Classic early 2000s movie vibes
HP2 ||I love the Weasley's owl so damn much, it's the perfect amount of derpy. Also was super slick of Lucius to slip in Tom Riddle's diary into Jenny's cauldron near the beginning of the movie, I'd have missed it if I wasn't paying attention to what came out when she dropped it vs what went back in.||
Bro said opal 😭😭
Also my goodness did puberty hit the main kids like a truck inbetween 1 and 2

The Doctor's running joke: All the moments when someone speaks "Doctor who?" in the new series (S01-S06 and the first half of S07) plus a "Who's the Doctor?" from "Blink" (S03) just because it's cool.

No way its worse than justice league 2017 and suicide squad
really doubt its that bad
See the thing is that people actually enjoyed the Suicide Squad test screenings
You don't have anyone saying good about Aquaman

Harry Potter 3 ||Definite tone shift this film. Other 2 were really bright and adventurous, this one was more dark. Was a very clever foreshadow of Scabbers being Pettigrew when Harry was wondering the school at night using the Marauder's Map and saw Pettigrew's footprints walking towards him, and then Harry being confused looking around for him even as you heard that pitter pattering since he never bothered to look down and see Scabbers.||
Alfonso Cuaron directed that one
Indeed he did
One of my favorites
Also, visually and sonically the most well made Harry Potter film, nothing else comes close
antman 3 ||damn joe rogan is in the MCU||
lol
I have seen Cocaine Bear
How was it
It was pretty funny just about what I expected
The bear ate all of that cocaine and went “it’s crackin’ time” and cracked on all of those civilians 10/10
Did someone say "I'm tired of this MF bear doing all this MF cocaine" ?
There was a line close to it
||I 100% believe kang that got "defeated" at the end of antman got sent back in time to be iron lad ||

They’re the only movies I watch every year

JEFFREY BEZOS
c'mon jeffrey you can do it pave the way put your back into it
Oh right

"Drink their blood"
I love how he randomly leans into the "CEOs are vampires" conspiracy at the end
its because some CEOs believed that blood transfusions of younger healthier people would make you live longer
another TV show made fun of that too
Anyone seen last of us ep 2
yes
Hello everyone
Hello julie
looking lovely julie221
greetings julie

Jules hype
Am I the only one that thought the last of us episode 6 was like, significantly weaker than the other episodes
idk haven't seen anything past ep 4
waiting for the season to end so I can use my hbo free trial
Is that the latest one?
To me it felt a lot shorter and somewhat hollow but might just be me
Conspiracy?
You haven't heard about the blood transfusions?
Right but the vampire part is
They are vampires too
Oh damn
Just got done with my Harry Potter 4 re-watch
Harry Potter 4 ||Very solid movie overall, much more mature tone which fits well given everything that happened. Director did a nice job building tension throughout all of the challenges, fear of falling ✅ , fear of drowning ✅ , claustrophobia ✅ , all very well done. Dynamite final sequence of Voldemort's rebirth and then the reveal that Moody was Crouch Jr. the entire time. Ralph Fiennes is such a presence as an actor, no one else could play Voldemort as well. Brendan Gleeson was so fun as Moody, also always nice to see David Tennett even if he didn't get as much screen time as he deserved. Little fun/weird seeing a pre-Twilight Robert Pattison, respectfully of the few lines he had I found his English/Scottish accent dreadful, I think his final lines he just completely gave up and just talked normally
. I understand the point of the ball was an attempt at more character building for the main kids but it honestly felt a bit dragged out and out of place for me, think they could've found some other way to add levity or give viewers time to recover from the challenges. Would've liked if more time was spent building up Cedric as a character instead of him just being a generic nice/popular guy, would've mad his death hurt more. Also with the proper explanation of the Avada Kadavra/Killing Curse I can't helped but remember the end of HP 2 after Harry freed Dobby, Lucius was seriously about to try to use the killing curse on a 12 year old in a very public place because he was butthurt he lost his slave
||
Also funny thing I heard is the reason Dan and Rupert had such long hair for this movie was before films they'd be asked to grow their hair out so the upcoming stylist could decide how they'd want to cut it but the director apparently liked the looks so asked them both to keep it long for the entire movie
4 was always my fav as a kid
Harry potter 4 || the book is even cooler with the whole tournament. The entire last round was super cool cause the maze had beasts, magical traps, riddles etc. ||
Damn
Yeah I loved the book
Harry Potter 4 ||Would've been nice seeing how Krum got bewitched at the very least instead of it just happening offscreen and him attacking Fleur. Can understand why they would cut that content to rush along but at the very least having at least 1 beast or trap I think could've added to building tension before the eventual transition into the ending conflict||
Yeah the latest one, episode 7 comes out in like 15ish? Hours
I'm gonna start doing a reread each December to coincide with my movie marathon
I did it last year
Haven’t watched the last 3 last of us eps
Probably just gonna wait at this rate
How many left?
3 after this week
Nice
Harry Potter 4 ||I had completely forgotten how annoying Rita Skeeter was as a character, Miranda Richardson played her very well||
Harry Potter 3 || reminds me how well they cast Trelawney . She really captured the "large, glittering , doomspeaking insect" vibe perfectly||
Finally got done with my first proper watch of Harry Potter 5 start to finish
order of the phoenix is the longest book in the series and the movie does a serviceable job of adapting it
Deathly hallows feels longer
Harry Potter 5 ||Opening was a tad clunky but overall really solid movie. Imelda Staunton was fantastic as Umbridge, such an evil cunt, just a pure and unapologetic bitch. She got off easy just being taken away by the Centaurs and then removed as headmaster. Movie did a wonderful breaking down Harry and reaffirming his character. Bit of a Star Wars reference but I love that Voldemort tried and failed to bring Harry over to the proverbial "Dark Side" of the wizarding world by trying to goad him into killing Bellatrix. Heartbreaking end to Sirius Black, love me some Gary Oldman and wish we could've seen more of him throughout the series instead of just near the end of PoA and that 1 scene in GoF, but I thoroughly enjoyed all his scenes in this movie. HBC was an awesome choice for Bellatrix, very underrated actress imo. Love the Harry teaching scenes, I heard that Dan requested Harry's appearance be similar to Lupin's from PoA for that to show how much Harry respected him as a mentor and teacher. Jason Issacs once again just shows himself as such a presence playing Lucius Malfoy, I love it. And then Ralph Fiennes 👏 what else can be said? The duel between him and Dumbledore was just plain, stupid fun. Would've loved to see a proper duel between them where Dumbledore wasn't having to protect someone the entire time. On a side note I love Luna, she's just such a vibe and I'm happy the actress who played her actually named Luna her favorite character prior to being cast as her.||
Yeah I just checked, Order was 766 pages, Hallows was 607
order of the phoenix ||i think harry's relationship with lupin is severely underrated, its the same type of relationship he has with sirius, just two godfathers looking after the boy like a son||
order of the phoenix ||remus and sirius are the fathers harry needed and had, each in their own loving ways||
Both played by wonderful actors
It's still wild to me that one story I heard about Gary Oldman
That he apparently got so into characters that spoke Americanized English that he actually lost his natural English accent and had to hire a teacher to relearn it
I saw Rocky Horror Show last night
I love Gary Oldman
I love that movie
Namor my beloved is back
Coming to steal your girl
||Nice|| FF #4
Just got done with my first proper watch of Harry Potter 6
Harry Potter 6 ||Dumbledore
||
The sixth is my favorite book
Speaking of not watching stuff everyone has watched
Might give lotr a go since it’s on Netflix

Was thinking about it when Evan mentioned his binge
I tried watching them but LOTR just isn't my jam
I even tried reading there books in high school
Harry Potter 6 ||Little on the fence with how the HP series has handled relationships, smidge hamfisted at times. There have obviously been bits and pieces to suggest that Ron and Hermoine might be interested in each other but it went a bit too fast here imo, like Hermoine was just straight up in love with him from the get go. Also Ginny and Harry went by a bit fast for my tastes, I mean we knew all the way back in HP 2 that she had at least some interest in him with her apparently talking about him all summer between the end of HP 1 and when he popped up at the Weasley's at HP2. Would've just appreciated more scenes between them showing them slowly falling in love as opposed to it being written off as "I see the way you look at her" yadda yadda. Loved the attention given to Draco, imo he's been sorely missed the past couple movies so it was nice to see there's something more to him than just stereotypical snobby bully. Gosh the scenes with that young version of Riddle were just amazing, couldn't take my eyes off the kid. Wonderful performance considering he was replacing that dude from HP2. Getting to see Dumbledore flex his powers 2 movies in a row was a real treat, looks about what you'd hope from someone considered the most powerful wizard in the world. Beautifully done death scene for him. Feels redundant to say but this movie really made me feel like we're in the end game of the series.||
Watch the extended versions if you can
They honestly really do add to what was an amazing trilogy
Especially in the first one cause that had more Sean Bean
It's carried by Gollum anyway
Harry Potter ||JK Rowling herself said Ron and Hermione getting together wasn't planned which is why it feels forced. She initially planned for Harry to end up with Hermione||
Harry Potter ||Then...just don't force them to be together JK
Like there were so many different ways you could've made them getting together seem natural and instead it just happens and we have to roll with the punches, pity. Like you didn't even have to force Harry and Hermoine to get together, don't know what you would've done with Ron but you provided at least viable options for Harry with Cho and Hermoine with Krum if you wanted. Sigh||
Harry Potter ||honestly the movies made Ron and Hermione feel more natural because during the 3rd movie they would go to hogsmeade alone and then in the 4th movie it was made even more obvious with Ron being jealous of Krum and Hermione angry Ron didn't ask her to the ball first. Harry being into Ginny was just out of nowhere||
Fair
Harry Potter ||Honestly really felt Harry and Cho really had good chemistry
Katie Leung is lowkey gorgeous||
Harry Potter 5 or 6 I forget|| in the book Harry fucks that relationship up badly lol||
I think it's the 5th

Has to be the 5th
Harry Potter 5 ||Last scene of her I can remember was Harry kinda giving her the cold shoulder after she lid Umbridge and her goons to the room of requirement (though she only did so under the influence of the truth telling serum she was drugged with which Harry didn't find out till later)||
I shall put it on the bucket list

I was looking at prices to see antman tonight and AMC is 10 dollars more expensive than Cinemark including popcorn and drink
