ROP ep 3/LOTR ||Hot take that'll make a lot of people who read this roll their eyes but, I think hollywood is too afraid to have a strong woman be anything but a swordslashing badass these days. There's no depth... and she's SO hotheaded to the point of recklessness and stupidity. I know it takes place before the LOTR times, but Galadriel is absolutely NOTHING like how she is portrayed in the books and the movies in ROP. This makes me excited to see how they take her character arc going forward but at the same time, she's already been alive for hundreds if not thousands of years. For her character to be THIS headstrong and wanting to hunt sauron, and then pivot 180 degrees at some point after the events of this story and turn into a different person entirely... Idk. It's not necessarily bad outright, but right now the execution is questionable.||
||On another note, I have serious issues with how she was able to slay a fucking troll in the first episode while her war hero brother died to a couple of orcs. AND the elf in the trenches in episode 3, the fight with the worg & the orcs there was also weird. Idfk. They got the scaling all fucked up||
that's whats really happening in the show, yeah lol
Rop 3 ||I agree, when I was watching that scene I instinctively thought "come on now, I ain't got all night||
Yeah the slowmo is a massive copout in general
lmao
ROP e3 ||The slowmo for the elf death in the trench who had a total of like, 3 lines of fucking dialogue. They went so deep into "oh what a tragic moment" and we literally barely knew who that person was as the audience||
I know I'm kind of grilling the show right now but I am enjoying it overall
Scaling all fucked up
ROP e3 ||Really liked the worg design too (the big dog that attacked in the trench) he was like an overgrown neurotic chihuaha||
Oh i agree with a quite a bit of this
people keep shitting on this but it looked cool
yeah I was gonna say Aka is the biggest griller of the show lol
I'm still having a good time either way
the CG is excellent and the soundtrack is also excellent
I've never read Simillarion (did I spell that right?).. so I'm enjoying every second
and I am enjoying the show for the most part
I mean, even wirh a decade of tech improvement, its still the same amount of time required.
Like Spiderman NWH || for Sandman, the particle count for the simulation has increased way more than what it used to be so the improve in processing power goes to that, making it to the same time duration required in overall ||
RoP/Lotr || what happened to the "average" elf like Legolas who couldv literally make a game out of slaying orcs? These elves just feel like humans with pointed ears to me. Also 5 of the apparently greatest elven warriors all struggled with that troll while galadriel was basically dancing so... ||
Rop 1 ||related to the second paragraph. I also think that the dog was fine. Iirc the part with her brother wanted to evidence the fact that there were like 100 orcs for each elf, so they were killed while exhausted i assume||
It did. ROP e3 ||it was like a malnourished worg who never got any sunlight, and came across as this neurotic little dog that was vicious||
I really liked the design there
Basically yeah. My whole point is the tech is there to get the most realistic thing possible but it still takes time which studios don’t give to the people making it
Oh don't get me started on this hahaha
So it’s not that CGI is bad
It's Marvel's way of doing things that suck
It’s studio crunch churning out sloppy work
The scaling is all fucked man. I've accepted it for what it is but that earlier comment ||About her brother vs her ability|| still stands even in their 'separate canon'
I remember a month or two a story came out about marvels mistreatment of CG studios and how many refuse to work for them, and all the comments was just calling them lazy or how what they do is worth it for marvel
yet LOTR didn't have that issue and they were releasing films literally every year
Which to me begs the question
Is there a particular studio that uses alot of it that is consistently churning out content...?
ROP e3 ||Her thousand + year old, war hero brother died to a couple of orcs, meanwhile she slays a troll entirely on her own. And then again with the trench scene- the main elf does some big shit, but his commander dies like a pussy. I get they were starved and overworked but fuck, man. These aren't tolkien's elves||
it would be Disney Balk
LOTR was filmed all in one go and they could work on the CG needed at a more reasonable pace
Marvel with even bigger lineups.
Yeah, plus it doesn't change that rop E1 || they fucking made an entire group of apparently Elite elves struggle only to show how galadriel was so strong lol like man get real ||
I can move past the new portrayal here but it's inconsistent even within their own setup
yeah
true that's a good point
I mean the fight scenes have been cool but.... yeah.
Also another major gripe i have is the way the roll the "r"s when speaking names only
Like the way the accent switches on for 1 word is so immersion breaking
idr take issue with all that
Idk i find really distracting every time
I suppose its to remain truthful to the language made by Tolkien
ROP ||Elrond has been good though. and I do like the new girl frodo & sam, despite them being exactly the same characters
||
But yea, sometimes it's weird
It's also them being better customers than Marvel as a whole.
A lot of techniques were created solely for those movies which revolutionized the genre
While for Marvel, more focus is on finishing the work fast, than making them better, due to how their demands are
RoP || oh the harfoots in general are all good. Really like the whole lot of them and the way their entire community is shown and interacts. And their accents and characters are so on point ||
Making them better hasn't ever been a priority for that studio
I mean it’s also the time frame. There wasn’t like 100 big budget cgi movies being made in tandem back in the early 2000s
Disagree Balkan.
Shangchi is a recent example that has that.
(this is based on the VFX studio's people's convo when they come on corridor crew channel)
RoP 3 ||I think it's the plotline I'm most invested in right now, along with elrond assisting the development of the forge for the ring, even though we barely saw anything. The Valar or maiar or whatever the fuck being who's tagging along with the harfoots is what is keeping me most interested||
There was enough people out there to work on stuff
Lemme check the video again for thr details
Shangchi being the best of a bad bunch loses its face value when you've watched literally any martial arts film
well MCU's completely franchised.. they rely on their customers being satisfied with their standards to get away with how much theyv'e cut corners
Do NOT mention Shang Chi to balkan ever again
Like anytime that film comes up it's always to defend the fight scenes in the MCU because that seems to be the one film that isn't the stunt double tbagging/twerking in place while shadowboxing the air
That doesn't make it objectively good
lmaoo
The best parts of it are still good stuff from Andy Cheng.
Not the best from him agreed
RoP 3 || yup is the same for me. I would be more interested in the halbrand thing if galadriel wasn't right there sinking his ship lol. It's sad that galadriel was the character i was most looking forward to and she's the one they messed up the most

Also yeah Elrond and celebrimbor is gonna be an interesting dynamic ||
Cheng is a fine actor
I should say, bar Chris Pratt, I don't like
Hate any MCU actor
what did you think of Christian Bale?
Well he's not an MCU actor so I fail to see the relevance
Assuming you've seen Love and Thunder
I'd rather shoot myself than see love and thunder
ROP 3 ||Well they've got 5 seasons to develop her. I'm skeptical right now but they have plenty of time to make this character arc make more sense||
He is now, Balkan
Jesus Christ
Idk. I'm gonna be watching it for sure as it goes on
My favorite mcu stars are Christian bale and Cate Blanchett
yeah so my theory is eventually most people big name will be apart of MCU
Great
Harry Styles is in it now
What
harry styles...
lmfao. peer into the dark future where every single actor is in the mcu

Honestly I'm not even surprised
Andy Cheng was one of the key members of Jackie Chan Stunt Team and that is seen in best parts of ShangChi.
A huge portion of fights being bad wouldn't make me undermine the better fights
Fair, hope she gets proper growth to start turning into the character we know in lotr
Homer Simpson comes through Dr. Stranges portal
Music for an MCU Film
wtf?
I clapped when this happened
I cheered
Yea
yeah lol
Do you know the generic story they are trying to adapt?
Yes
Amazon paid like 250m just for the rights
David lynch directing the next marvel movie
the hell
Like from LoTR and stuff?
the next season has been greenlit juba
As long as it's not a complete disaster it will continue
They booked invicible for 3 like 2 episodes in and lotr is alot bigger
Amazon doesn’t technically have all the rights to the book it’s adapting does it?
they have the rights to the appendices
No but like even the book doesn't have much about this time period
enhancer has all the rights for tolkien
it's not much of like... an adaption so much as it is their own story entirely
don't they have the rights to LOTR?
there
Like 20 pages or something - the stuff they don't have rights to
is not much to adapt
That’s funny
they're taking some very, VERY vague footnotes tolkien made about where a few characters went, and making a story of it
David Lynch has standards he would never appear in marvel. The Cleveland show on the other hand is a perfect series for him
It's a good thing imo, gives writers a lot more freedom to create a story that works well for their medium
barely 30 pages of material for the story we're seeing now
when i say vague I mean like a literal paragraph or two's worth of info
per character
so it's basically entirely their creation, with a couple of key factors in there
You say this but everyone has a price. Freaking Herzog was in Star Wars
How well has Rings of Power been compared to Hotd for the respective franchises?
did Tolkien's son approve the ROP writers?
Have been following only hotd till now
Lol
I think Hotd is probably faring a bit better because LOTR fans are way more anal
grandson
lmao
ah grandson
I would say HotD is a fairing decently better
I haven't watched it but my parents have been enjoying hotd and they are very much anal
his son died some time ago
To answer you I dislike Pratt because he's the embodiment of that brain-dead MCU brand of comedy. I think of shitty marvel jokes/lines and every time he's the one saying them in my head. Also his character blows
I just want to double check, you know David Lynch was a recurring character in the Cleveland show and played himself right?
oh I see. but is his grandson on board with this story layout
Oooooooh look at me I have a Walkman and I'm in space ooooooooh
christopher tolkien died quite sometime ago, rest in peace
Idk what the Cleveland show is
tolkien society, I think they are the ones in the call(?)
yeah. none of them are tolkien
Family guy spin off
i don't give a shit what they approve or not
not to get all aggro but
I just don't. they aren't the author
they interpret it as well as we do
Yea, fuck those nerds
Didn’t they buy a freaking nft and thought they held the rights to a picture of Tolkien
i feel you with Pratt.. but I was asking about Bale cause his character vibe was totally different and some people found him "intriguing"
Not saying it's bad btw. I just wouldn't say "Oh, thank god it was approved by his grandson"
Lmao what
because it really means nothing eotd
The Tolkien society is quite frankly a bunch of dolts
Same with Chris when Peter Jackson made lotr "reeeeee, this is a tragedy for my daddy's work 😭😭😭😭"
I guess I'm just curious if the coast is clear for me to take everything that happens in ROP as true canon
Some guys bought a copy of dune and thought it gave them rights to the entire franchise
Well yeah idk I haven't seen Thor love and blunder so I can't speak on Bales character in there
But it's marvel so I'd probably hate it
I wouldn't go that far

But it's safe to enjoy.
that's fair
I am having a good time with it
simon tolkien gave his blessings to the showrunners
Good of simon
Yeah they are probably tweaking established canon here and there but meh
yeah i really can't express how little bloodline means to me in this matter
That's Chris' son?
I thought you guys were saying twerking
tolkien wrote almost nothing about these events
it's mostly a log of places people went and how long they stayed/major events
twerk it
Yea, they have a lot of leeway
Marvel she hulk twerking funny doge meme 9gag epic mukbang Rick and Morty EDC amogus
Goodnight
Nah like done stuff that wasn't supposed to happen is kinda happening like rop || durin and elrond weren't really friends or anything afaik but it helps them so they tweaked it a little ||
Nothing major like || making sauron the good guy
||
I guess it depends on the consensus
gotcha. Yeah I mean that's ok for me. Taking some liberties is going to be necessary if we're to ever hope to create an interesting story from what the source material has
Did you like the shadow of Mordor games, nami?
LOTR || Like someone told me Arwen didn't exist in the LOTR books.. she was just a mention of love interest for Aragon.. but I can reference her in a canon conversation ||
Wrong
I haven't played that game
Totally wrong lol
Same, it's fine if it helps with the story or its telling
completely wrong
I'm wrong?
you're wrong
Yep
every way
then explain it or do I have to
LoTR || yeah that's not tweaking canon that's turning it upside down and sideways||

lotr ||arwen saves the hobbits from the nazgul, is married to aragorn at the end, is buried next to him even||
Wait actually i don't trust my memory rn
in the book?
LoTR ||she plays a significant part in aragorn's character development in the book ||
Yes of thay I'm sure
dawg.
someone literally told me this yesterday
I didn't know to believe it or not cause I hadn't read it soooo
they should be asked to not read anymore

oh I'm coming for them
seems like they cant
best believe
lotr ||its just that she takes a more active role in the movies than in the books||
Their reading is a Public safety hazard

LOTR ||The movies focus a good bit more heavily on their romance||
yep
LOTR ||She plays a much more passive/side role in the books in my memory||
Which is totally fine imo
PJ changed a lot of shit in the canon to fit for adaptation and make the story more suspenseful
It had to be done
LoTR ||it's passive but it still has decent significance, calling it non existent is just dumb||
the formats are too different
it's totally ok
people have a twisted idea of adaptations needing to be 1:1 and they don't
Yeah
I always actually enjoyed the LOTR films
he completely wrote off several characters, events and situations and added some new shit
Has anyone watched the Ralph Bakshi animated lotr movie?
yeah
LoTR || the only gripe i have with the movies is gimli lol ||
Lotr/fellowship book ||They made her save the hobbits in the movies when in the book it was a rather famous elf. Was it glorfindel? I forget ||
@trim crown
Can you answer this
its.. weird, bakshi himself was weird
Yeah it was him
yes
LOTR dwarves are based as are dwarves across all fantasy
Worth watching if I've never touched lotr?
Hmmm yea I think it was thi dud3
I was trying to remember the name lol
Lemme check real quick lol
I still got it
Was reading the hobbit today and I noticed Hobbit book and uhh movie || in the book they sneak out from the Wood elves fortress without anyone noticing but in the movies they had to escape by force? Am I remembering that correctly? I remember a scene with the elves shooting them in the water ||
probably. idr
The hobbit movies are so different
yeah
Maaan
yes its the greatest trilogy of all time
a lot is changed in the recent hobbit trilogy
man.. the hobbit movies
PJ had to like
No
take over partway into development
Not what I'm talking about
and basically got stuck with the extra stuff
Are they regarded as bad or something
The go pro used in the first one took me the hell out of the entire franchise
It’s been so long I can’t remember much
well you had me at "not touched LOTR films" and you should
there's a really good essay series about the production of the hobbit by lindsay ellis
The LoTR movies? Yeah sure they are great
you guys should check that out, its pretty fuckin bonkers
Man I'm not taking about peter Jackson's movies
Watch the extended Blu-ray cuts
Hobbit i have heard is not that great but haven't watched myself so can't comment
I'm talking about the animated one by Ralph Bakshi
the trilogy is bad
Oh hell yeah watch it
watch it
Oh you mean the animated one no idea about that
Have you seen the Russian lotr tho?
no watch peter jackson's if you haven't yet.. if you have diregard
That is a master piece
I will not watch lotr
Lotr bakshi ||unironically has a better witch king of Angmar scene||
bet you wont say why
there are some highs and lows
only a few highs
Hobbit was stretched out to 3 movies so it felt kinda off. It was originally going to be one iirc
Or was it 2?
the structure just fucked up a whole load of shit
it was going to be 2 movies by del toro
the hobbit || the legolas fan service ||
it should have never been 3 movies but I think they managed to keep the plotlines (though there are too many) pretty tight
Is that a high for you?
no, the highs are specific moments
it was a noticeable attempt
Hobbit ||I liked smaug a lot||
I was asking nami lol
oh
My memory regarding lotr is so blurred because I find it incredibly mid wasnt this character in the lotr films? Not the hobbit??
I can't recall a lot .. desolation of smaug I remember really liking though yea
I did too though
the hobbit ||legolas wasnt even there in the book, they added a whole character for kili's romance||
lotr/hobbit || he was in both.. but I dont think he was written to be in the hobbit by Tolkien. i think that was just for the fans ||
Yes
I honestly would’ve liked the hobbit movies if it leaned more into the sort of whimsical stuff the book had. There was a lot of singing and kinda musical moments and there’s a deleted scene that was just that
hobbit || it destroyed his character ||
hobbit ||Tolkien's take on dragons is just the OG. They're so fucking attractive, the wise and powerful monster that are weak to their own vices||
they're what?
The hobbit ||The scene in particular was in goblin town and it was just straight up a musical montage. Was really cool||
the hobbit ||smaug is the best but he got done dirty by having his death entirely be like in the third movie while his confrontation with the dwarves and bilbo be a giant CGI mess of a battle scene||
I'd have to rewatch to comment there
same.. I've seen LOTR so many times.. but only watched each hobbit movie like once
Same
the hobbit ||glad they expanded on bard but the whole storyline with bard and dale is such a snoozefest||
yeah same nami
The hobbit ||just yesterday I found out that the main orc dude wasn't supposed to be CGI and had an amazing costume for him. What was his name? ||
Hobbit ||Gog or something ||
is the episode with him coming out in like 20 minutes?
No idea.
Oh okay
The hobbit ||Azog was supposed to be the main villain and when they changed it to three movies they added a new cgi one called bolg.||
Hobbit ||https://imgur.com/a/o3MdJ ||
LOTR ep 2 ||also something that really made me irk was how galadriel was pointlessly tugging the rope on the raft ||

Spoodermun what have they done to you me boy
She Hulk episode 5 || we’re soooo close ||
Bcs s1 ep 4
|| Im curious why chuck is in such a living condition, I understand that he can't pay rent and shit so he's living without electricity, water, gas etc. But why? If he's a lawyer then he should be able to earn money but clearly something is stopping him because he said he has cases that are on hold for some reason. also wondering about the grounding thing, I can assume it's related to not having electricity in the home but specifically why the grounding thing is required. Maybe he’s just lost his marbles and went full tinfoil ||
Bcs s1 ep 5 || ahh so he’s sensitive to electromagnetic waves, makes sense why he cant work and why jimmy needs to ground himself ||
yup
Bcs s1 ep 5 || could be all in his head though so we’ll have to see ||
BCS S1 ep 5 ||It's a real condition btw, but it's debatable whether it's physical or psychological ||

The controversial defamation case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is the subject of a new movie, “Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial,” set to debut exclusively on Tubi.
The film stars Mark Hapka as Depp and Megan Davis as Heard.

Please just don't reenact what happened (allegedly) with Amber and the bed
montage sequence incoming
Can’t wait
figured you would like it
Yes I’m very intrigued

I’m just curious how they’re going to design the narrative, like will it just depict Heard as villainous and Depp as the pure victim… just curious
We all knew it was coming
Just a question of when
I think there were documentaries made already
good movie
YOOOOOOOO

Just found out Kevin Feige was an executive producer for Spider-Man 2
A surprise to be sure but not an unwelcome one
executive producers do nothing
They use their creative vision to spend money on the movie
😂
There will be blood better than i remember

We also watched uh....a particular anime...which if I say...will be used against me.....

Obviously it's Astro Boy

reminds me I should rewatch Metropolis

Doctor who 60th is coming next year and The Good Place ended a while ago
what's that?
zack snyder on teen titans go🙏
lmao im dead
Ttg movie snyder cut incoming??? 😲

RoP e4 || Nice work, story definitely took a good turn, shit is heating up in all the regions ||
RoP e4 || Good development in Numenor, they established Pharazon's ambitions and set the stage up for him to take over in one clean shot by basically sending the pro-elven numenoreans to Middle Earth. Also setting the stage for Galadriel to return with some good aid to Middle Earth and slap a big fat I told you so in Gil Galad's face ||
RoP e4 || speaking of galadriel, it was good to finally see her speaking with it seeming like she was gonna spit with rage, felt a lot more like a dignified but angered Elven general than a spited teenager ||
RoP e4 || Miriel has been good, fits the role and her dialogue delivery and the way she carries herself is fitting for her station. Elendil feels a little too immature and informal for who he is going to eventually become, but I actually like that bit about him. It would be no fun if all the Middle Earth leaders were boring old serious men lol ||
RoP e4 || Halbrand calling Gally a horse was fuckin hilarious
||
Bcs s1 ep 7 || God bob odenkirk is fuckin amazing, he puts on a show like noone else, doing all this shit for old people like bingo
||
god that episode
great scene
RoP || Elrond looks and talks and acts like a total fuckboi but i absolutely love him lmaooo ||
Bcs s1 ep 7 || the humor in bcs is leagues above breaking bad, jimmy on the phone in the bathroom

And the dude pissing turns around to him and jimmy turns away

lmaoo fr though
ROP e4 || agreed I like Miriel a lot in this ||
I’m watching bcs s6 tonight
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I bought the final breaking bad season on dvd
Batman is so cursed in that version lol
It's why you never 100% morb out

Breaking bad s1 ep 1 ||ACTUAL AMAZING FIRST IMPRESSION TO WATCH. THIS IS GONNA BE SUCH A FUN EXPERIENCE, I CAN ALREADY TELL.||
Nice
Enjoy your watch
Be sure to watch El Camino (Movie about post-BB) after and after that watch Better Call Saul (spinoff/prequel series)
Which movie is this?
valerian and the city of a thousand planets
Oh cool, thanks, never heard of it
constantine sequel announced wtf
keanu really out there tryna kill as many classics as possible

BCS finale ||"I'm a lawyer with style. I'm a lawyer with grace. However I've lived for the past few years without a face. Who am I?"||

Kinda easy imo but that was it
BCS ||I never actually watched the show, is it a pun with his name?||
Wait have you seen BB at least
If not I literally can't tell you

BCS finale ||the answer to the riddle is Saul Goodman/James Mcgill cause by the end of BB he goes into hiding for a few years and gets discovered and is sentenced to live out the rest of his life in prison for basically being the backbone behind WW's legacy as the drug lord of the century||
Lemme think of another
Absolutely doing
😎
Don't watch the Slippin' Jimmy spinoff cartoon tho
That shit sucks ass
It's awful
And arguably just 10000% not canon
best show to come out of the bb universe
There's a spin off cartoon!??
yes and it's very great
It's awful
11/10 show highly recommend
Mayo for context it's like American Dad style of animation and art but like BB universe and also the comedy is awful
it's about sauls childhood
I might check it still
It's awful
better than bb and bcs combined
Literally a cash grab
Through and through
Fortunately, it's an AMC+ exclusive (I think)
AMC's only good show, ofc they would try to make anything out of it lol
But why did nobody tell them that these types of shows never work
I don't think I was planning on watching that anyways
Cuz I didn't even know there was another spin off besides better caul saul
It probably cost them like 5 dollars
What'll it cost me to buy a new rifle
I feel the need for one right about now
@burnt lake how far are you into sandman rn? I think I should go at your pace because otherwise I'll have literally no motivation to read lol
Read the first couple issues of the first deluxe book so far
Okay I have the challenge of remembering to be a good person
Shouldn't be too hard
Lmao
Did you not watch the show
I mean go at your own pace ofc but I'll stop at every leg to wait for you
Every leg being every book end
Ill watch after I read
The issues both feel connected but also don't?
Like idk how to describe it
It's not like episodic but its easy to remember what happened previously as they make callbacks
So you can probably go a little while without reading any to remember
Yea Gaiman wanted something like a sandbox to write in
I believe there's a volume of stories that are purely episodic
so each month he could write something somewhat new
I see
I still find it funny that DC already had a run called the Sandman and that ended badly so Neil just went in and said "I'm gonna kickstart this mans whole career" and walked off
twd?
I rest my case
What I'm referring to btw
that use to happen alot
Wasn't spider-man gonna be like a one-off thing in Amazing Fantasy but people loved him so they started making runs for him
Alan moore got his start by rebooting Marvelman a largely forgotten character
Like the editor said to Stan "people don't like spiders and why a kid? Kids are sidekicks"
Or something
So they put him in a book they were gonna kill off
And it sold better than like anything that decade or something

Sandman goes all the way back to the late 1930s btw
Ong?
The OG Sandman was part of the OG line up of the Justice Society

When he wore a gas mask and a suit
Neils sandman would probably wipe the floor with everyone in JS
Then Jack Kirby took over the character and changed him to that kind of super hero outfit, and gave them a more supernatural vibe of being able to enter the criminal's dreams
I see
THEN this version came up in the early 1970s
I see
Then it got revamped by Neil
Sandman was also a uhhh
Uhhhh
Swamp thing character?
Yep

Also by Kirby and Simon, when Kirby left Marvel in 1970
Or am I strictly thinking of Lucifer
Who got heavy focus in sandman as they got spinoff runs
idk really lol
Hmmm
Cool and interesting stuff tho hog, I really appreciate the info
It's always fun learning from you
Wesley Dodds is the first DC Comics fictional character to bear the name of the Sandman. Attired in a green business suit, fedora, and gas mask, the Sandman used a gun emitting a sleeping gas to sedate criminals. He started out as a "mystery man", but eventually developed into a more standard superhero, becoming a founder of the Justice Society of America.
In Adventure Comics #69 (December 1941), Dodds was given a yellow-and-purple costume by writer Mort Weisinger and artist Paul Norris, as well as a yellow-clad kid sidekick, Sandy the Golden Boy. Later that year, the celebrated team of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby took over this version of the character.
These 2 versions of Sandman appeared between Adventure Comics #40 (July 1939) and #102 (Feb 1946).
The 1974 Sandman is a different person, but similar to the 2nd version, since it's Kirby and Simon once again behind it
But no sidekick iirc
Nice
The OG
The yellow-and-purple costume later was ugly as shit lmao, gotta find it
I love how you can see the fucking same faces as Captain America and Bucky in them
Kirby faces are just
Oh Sandman Mystery Theatre
Unique lol
yeah lol
Dodds character did show up in the 1960s when there were JSA/JLA meet ups too
Like most golden age heroes
Superman/Superboy, Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow and Aquaman are the only ones that survived the whole 1950s
Damn
Not even Flash and Green Lantern did lol
Which is why they were entirely new people when they came back
And they did the whole Earth One/Earth Two thing in the 1960s
Wait-
Really?
The art looks so nice in em tho

Or am I thinking of something else
idk what you mean lol
lol nah that was made a looot later
O
I meant the concept of different Earths
To explain how there are more than 1 Flash and so on
Earth 1 = Silver Age heroes and the Justice League
Earth 2 = Golden Age heroes and the Justic Society
That's how the whole mess started lol
Still funny how Flash basically just shows up in a marvel comic after he ends up ||dying|| in DC comics
||He can travel through Earth 1 to Earth 2 with certain vibrations of his body basically|| The Flash 123
Speed force is such an interesting concept
I know is that one issue even tho I havent gotten there yet
Is one of the most important issues ever made
O lol
Ic
I think I read a bit of the latest Flash run
There was a Year One rewrite of sorts in it
Back then there are 3 people that have this power
Major HotD spoiler/ Fire and Blood
Jay Garrick (OG Flash)
Barry Allen (Silver Age Flash)
Wally West (Kid Flash)
Nice lol
Me rn who hasnt read shit so I have up to 1960 knowledge apart from key events lol
For example Superman at the moment has 3 weaknesses now
I still feel like he has 3
Kryptonite (so far green and red ones)
Red suns
Magic (yes, magic lol)
Kryptonite, Lois, other Kryptonians
Red Kryptonite is supposed to be like "writers choice" basically I think
Irresistible force meets immovable object
They are just both unafected by each other basically
And I forgor red suns are a thing lol
Sad
Bizarro World just became a thing too
Like modern age I don't recall them existing
iirc soon blue kryptonite will be introduced, which is just deadly to bizarros
I'm probably just not reading a whole lot to notice
So take my word with a grain of salt
What has been pretty much dead since 1985 is Clark Kent ever being Superboy
Oh yeah that definitely gets revitalized in modern age
Since then the Superboy monicker has been used by different people
Like a LOT I feel
The Man of Steel is a 1986 comic book limited series featuring the DC Comics character Superman. Written and drawn by John Byrne, the series was presented in six issues which were inked by Dick Giordano. The series told the story of Superman's modern origin, which had been rebooted following the 1985-86 series Crisis on Infinite Earths.
DC edito...
This changed everything
Superboy/superman modern comics ||besides the fact that pink Kryptonite exists (which turns superman gay, which was then later written out cause thats controversial af), I recall seeing a superboy comic where he gets into a relationship with another dude so... Bi rights fr :bisexual_flag_I_Dont_have_an_emote_for:||
What is funny is that for like 6 years, the Legion of Super Heroes didnt really change, so you still had Superboy Clark Kent in there. This was later explaned as a pocket dimmension or some shit that had survived the Crisis lol
Then an event in the early 1990s finally revamped them into normal continuity
I see
||1st one happened like, once as a gag in 2003 or so, and never again basically||
||Second one, is Clark's son, the latest Superboy to date, but he is now Superman while his father left to a different galaxy for a big mission (that arc is about to end and he's coming back to Earth after, so idk what they will do, if Jon Kent will go back to Superboy or if both will be Superman lol)||
||Of course there is the whole Dark Crisis event happening so idk how that will change the status quo lol|| Superman latest
Batman latest comics ||I guess that's like the different robins taking up the mantle of Batman while he's just chilling in a grave or stuck in the past or something||
I'm not sure cause of course I am not reading those, I just know a little by what other people mention lol
Hmmm
I guess lol
||Jon is like 17 or 18 now tho, so not really a Superboy anymore lol|| Superman: Son of Kal-El
You're in the 70s soon right
||iirc Jon was a kid for a few years then some event idk really about aged him up to almost adulthood basically. Apparently not a super popular decision, some people wanted him to grow slowly into an adult but oh well|| Superman: Son of Kal-El
Comics wise I'm in 1960 lol
Ah
The Marvel boom coming up, oh boy
There's a certain comic I think you might like in 1988
Oh yeah I forgot marvel decided to start their universe in like 1969 and hasn't stopped
Oh pff yeah
Why tf am I thinking 1969 lol
We literally talked about the FF comic the other day
I can't wait for The Human Target to get more issues I'm craving
Oh I'm probably thinking of Annual 1 maybe
Cause they stopped being dependant of a printing company that was part of DC and limited a lot how many magazine they could print, and is when finally a lt of characters get magazines of their own
Ohhh
Instead of 2 heroes sharing the same magazine
I see
Let's see, between 1961 and 1964, all of this gets introduced:
Fantastic Four
Ant-Man and The Wasp
The Hulk
Spider-Man
Thor
Iron Man
The return of Captain America
Sgt. Fury
Dr. Strange
The Avengers
X-Men
Daredevil
idk if I'm missing anyone lol
In 1957, Martin Goodman switched distributors to the American News Company — which shortly afterward lost a Justice Department lawsuit and discontinued its business. Atlas was left without distribution and was forced to turn to Independent News, the distribution arm of its biggest rival, National (DC) Comics, which imposed draconian restrictions on Goodman's company. As then-Atlas editor Stan Lee recalled in a 1988 interview, "[We had been] turning out 40, 50, 60 books a month, maybe more, and ... suddenly we went ... to either eight or 12 books a month, which was all Independent News Distributors would accept from us."
In 1968, while selling 50 million comic books a year, company founder Goodman revised the constraining distribution arrangement with Independent News he had reached under duress during the Atlas years, allowing him now to release as many titles as demand warranted.
zack snyder teen titans go episode was good
Anyone have any good novel recommendations?
Whats your favourite in this mr harsh

|| Apparently MF DOOM is the main inspiration for the new altanta episode they even got Earl sweatshirt to rap in it || Atlanta season 4 EP 1
"your weakness is literally fucking ice? What the fuck man what about any missions at the poles?"

Sonic 2 || that scene where sonic puts the blanket on tails and he puts his tails on him while they sleep was adorable
||
Bcs s1 ending || guess Slippin Jimmy is back, how this will fare for him we'll see. S1 was great though ||
Amen
Personally s1 of bcs was more enjoyable for me than s1 of bb
Though bb's is older and also only 7 episodes
Yeah the montages were pretty good
Also really like the music they use
Very groovy
Dave Porter does much more memorable tracks for bcs than bb tbh
I don't remember much of the original score for bb, the memorable songs were already made by someone else and just used for the scene
But bcs' are pretty good

The Song is called "Tune Down" by Chris Joss.
Nice little bluesy and funky song from better call saul season 1 episode 7 "bingo" when mike is watching out for the money of the kettlemans.
looks like another great series with amazing soundtrack.
sorry for the background noises, i just took the audio file from the video. enjoy anyway.
i do not...
Ah it's not an original one
Bcs s1 ending ||banzai pipeline for marco scams||

From 1963's Uniquely Mancini
Great chart penned by the great Mancini himself.
Cool for performing in big bands, dance bands and greatly for school and college jazz ensembles. Excellent for sampling as well.
Here's hoping s2 has more great ones
Episode 8 iirc has one of the best montages if i remember the ep number correctly

Btw the (bcs s1) ||The scamming montage didn't have vfx added||
Bcs s1 ending || really? That's pretty cool. I'm assuming they just layered different shots together and changed the colors around a bit ||

Better Call Saul is an American television crime drama series created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It is both a spin-off and a prequel of Gilligan's previous series, Breaking Bad. Set in the early-to-mid-2000s in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the series develops Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), an earnest lawyer and former con-man, into a greedy cr...

ATLA season 1 episodes 11-15 ||a fun thing we discussed regarding these episodes is how they have like 300% foreshadowing to future episodes||

What I think the 5 best episodes are in no order:
ATLA ||Siege of the north, zuko alone, tales of ba sing se, crossroads of destiny, avatar and the firelord||
What my 5 personal favorite episodes are in no order:
ATLA ||Bitter Work, Lake Lagoi ( episode they get Appa back), crossroads of destiny, the puppetmaster, and the fire bending masters||
Ok ok i dont agree with that but i can respect it
What’s your list
Im writing it right now
ATLA ||ugh, crossroads of destiny
||
ATLA ||Crossroads of destiny is literally one of the best writing decisions I’ve ever seen. Zuko choosing Azula over Iroh is so frustratingly tragic but the best decision in the series||
ATLA ||crossroads of destiny truly was the transition from the first two books to the final season, amazing writing||
🙏
For me the best episodes are in this order: ||the avatar and the firelord, tales of ba sing se, sozin's comet 3, bitter work and the storm|| while my favorite ones are: ||the chase, the avatar and the firelord, crossroads of destiny, sozin's comet 3 and sozin's comet 4||
ATLA ||oh I didn’t include any of sozins comet on purpose. I should have prefaced that||
ATLA ||the storm is definitely one of the best s1 episodes||
ATLA ||I think the finale is basically perfect so I wanted to shed light on other episodes||
Atla || the only problem i have with crossroads is azula seemingly just getting control of the dai li for no reason - before i realised that thats what basically happens it was my favorite episode||
ATLA ||S1 has some really solid foundational episodes. More episodic gems like Waterbending scroll, Jet, the storm, the fortune teller etc..||
HotD 5 || holy shit what the fuck happened how did that brawl break out ||
ATLA ||I did also kind of have this issue but I rationalized it with Azula just being that intimidating and influential. It’s quite a feat that they turned to her side so quickly||
ATLA ||almost all of those you listed were eps 11-15, they were definitely a massive building block for the rest of the series||
Yep
Atla || im not really an episodic guy so my favorite episodes from season 1 are southern air temple, the storm and the blue spirit ||
ATLA ||those eps in particular all ended up having some foreshadowing to S3 moments/episodes||
Idk why but i really dont like ||jet( the episode not the character)||
ATLA ||it’s a shame the first 9 (and the great divide) are probably the weakest stretch of the series but also a good thing that it only gets better and better after||
HotD 5 || da fk did the king just pop off? ||
ATLA ||my professor specifically talked about the negative reception of the great divide - and tbh, neither of us thought badly of it||
Atla || i wouldnt say that cause the first 3 are all great - and same with episodes 7,8 ||
ATLA ||S1 is just so damn comfy to me because it is smaller in scope and more episodic. ||
Atla || beach and storm eps aren't in your top? ||
ATLA ||the more episodic pace of S1 (especially the episodes before Winter Solstice) definitely helps to set up the building blocks for the rest of the series, which would explain why its a bit slower paced or weaker than the rest of the series - it's meant to be that way||
ATLA ||hmmm, I think the opening 2 episodes aren’t that strong of a start. 3-9 are still very good to me. I just think that’s probably the weakest stretch of the series because everything else is so good ||
|| Iroh, Appa and Aang || AtLA
ATLA ||Storm is 6th, beach isn’t in my top. I only really like one moment in that episode which is zuko realizing he’s angry at himself ||
Ah
ATLA - in no particular order, ||Sokka, Iroh, name a fire nation sibling||
I was really bored once and made a full episode ranking
Kinda spammy but ill send it
ATLA|| I like how beach ep adds much depth to the character, and most importantly, how it humanises the characters ||
AtLA || Zuko was top for me until end of s2 ||
