From what I understood in the chapter, they were trying to duplicate the fruit by using a distillate or essence of the fruit.

So they likely boiled it down and tried to inject multiple people with the liquid from the fruit.

As the reader who started the series on the present, already know that the first person who bites the fruit or otherwise consumes the fruit, gains the power, regardless of how much or how little they eat.

That experiment probably proved that there is no workaround especially since they noted the fruit was useless afterwards

I think that in egghead being reverse summit war is very clear and here are some of my guesses on what will happen to mirror it in the rest of this arc:

Kuma mirrors both Ace and Whitebeard by taking significant damage throughout and still standing. However in the mirror arc instead of being killed like Ace
and WB, Kuma will survive and instead the government will take the biggest loss with Saturn's death.

In the Summit war, Shanks came in and helped to stop the war after Koby rebelled. I believe that Blackbeard being opposite to Shanks, will arrive on the
Island, starting an even greater war.

Possibly Blackbeard will arrive after Kizaru rebels. Kizaru mirrors Koby as one was reletively new and low rank where the other is experienced and
the highest rank.

I see the end of egghead being: Blackbeard comes to Egghead to battle and finish off as many strong enemies as he is able and kills Saturn.
Other forces also arrive to mirror the many forces Whitebeard brought to summit. kicking off the biggest war since the void century.
The war may also be triggered here but really carried out on Elbaf where the Strawhats may be headed.

Other forces joining the war may be Straw hat forces, Old yonko crews (Big Mom, Kaido, Whitebeard), The revolutionary army.

I feel like Vivi will get involved somewhere at the end of egg head or beginning of elbaf

Question: from my understanding bonny got her fruit from the pills/injection/treatment etc that the wg gave her when she was little. That would explain why she could bath when she was little and why she found her powers later. If this is true than wouldn't this have a huge impact on the whole world? Blackbeard is known for being able to eat two df. What if you can have more powers at the same time but you can't consume two devil fruits at the same time. Maybe Saturn is trying to mimick what black beard is doing and if that is true than Bonnie might be able to consume the paw paw fruit since she doesn't have a literally fruit in her stomach. That would also make sense since the more we know it's more probably that devil fruits are made of a physical part and a "spiritual " one since they have their own will and this would play well with the theory that df have the will of their predecesor users. Than maybe black beard is an experiment escaped from wg or maybe he just has two stomachs and Saturn is trying to replicate that , that being the reason why Bonnie's literal fruit is useless.

The Real Identity of Imu

Imu and the Ope Ope no Mi

It is already basically confirmed that Imu was the recipient of the immortality surgery, Ivankov even mentions this after he finds out about Imus existence. This confirms a user of the Ope Ope fruit existed back then.

Doflamingo's Plan

When we first find out about the immortality operation surgery, it is when doflamingo is describing his plan with the fruit to use Marijoas treasure to achieve world power. Lots of people had assumed this involved the immortality surgery, and that this treasure was the giant strawhat. There have actually been theories that what he was actually after was the personality switching power. The treasure doflamingo was referring to wasn't the strawhat like many people believe, but rather Imu. When Doflamingo brings the treasure up again during the reverie, it is right before we see Imu for the first time. His plan was therefore to use the personality switch to take Imus place and rule the world. Look at how it's worded, he brings up the treasure, then explains the value of the fruit with reference to the personality switch ability first. He mentions "that specific day", this could be the day he found out about Imu and he's been using that fact as leverage against the wg explaining how he could get away with so much. It also matches what he said about the secret leaking and causing chaos in the world. (Correction: The day he is talking about could also be when Law got the fruit)

I believe the op op no mi was used for the same purpose in the past, with Imu themselves Not only was it used for the immortality surgery, but it was used to switch Imus personality with someone else meaning that they are currently occupying someone else's body. I believe this person is Nefertari D. Lily.

The crux of this is a bit silly, I will admit. There's going to be a bit of conjecture going forward but I think it's interesting nonetheless.

Imu's Feminity

This idea mainly stems from the fact that many people (including me) have gotten a feminine vibe from Imu. This started with the butterfly room I think, and it was reinforced when we got a closer look at Imus face which looks like the way oda draws women

It also looks to me like Imu is wearing some sort of wedding or funeral gown (with the veil lowered). I think this is another reason why people got this feminine vibe from Imu.

Lily's Disappearance

Like Cobra mentions, everyone assumed that Lily returned to Alabasta where she became the ruler, but she never returned. Saturn replies in dismissal, saying that it is written fact that she did not live there (as if that means anything coming from these guys). I think the reason they are trying to hide what happened to her is because Imu is currently residing in her body, we even get a shot of Imu when we are getting this explanation (although it's probably just to show they are listening in). It is the fact that Lily never returned to Alabasta that drives this forward for me, she must have gone somewhere else!

Imu's Eyes

The only defining feature of Imu we have are their eyes. Why then would these eyes not have been passed down all the way to Vivi? It's because they are not Lily's eyes, they are from Imu's original body. This is visually consistent with the way Law's powers worked in Punk Hazard, whenever a personality switch occurs the eyes switch as well! So if Imu switched bodies with Lily, Lily would get Imus unique eyes (it's not obvious with tashigi, but her eyes are black not brown.)

The only exception is Nami, in the anime her eyes are coloured differently though so it's a bit more vague (in the coloured manga they are the same, and you can't see her eyes in the above cover. Maybe the heart eyes count lol)

So that's basically the end of the theory. There are some obvious problems though.

Why didn't Cobra recognise Lily if she's supposed to look like Vivi?

Could simply be he did not get a good look at her. The gown may have obscured her face and figure.

Why is Imu referred to as a male celestial dragon?
This could simply be because Imu is technically a man and prefers to be addressed this way.

Why would Imu go through all this trouble?

I do not have a very good reason for this. Perhaps he wanted to fake his own death and make it less obvious to the other rulers that he became the true king, even though they had decided against that. Maybe by being in Lily's body they tricked the user of the op op no mi to give them the immortality surgery (but they should know cause they are responsible for the switch!). Finally, I think the most likely, they switched with Lily to get whatever that weird power Imu currently has (Law's power does not transfer df abilities as seen in punk hazard)

Hope you enjoyed the theory, I don't think this is very serious but it's food for thought.

In case you haven't already been convinced that Kizaru gave Luffy the food:
Oda is here conducting foreshadowing/hinting at the answer to the secret of who fed luffy. Where is caribou at? Hasn't been seen since the beginning of the arc. Kizaru meanwhile, a man with a recently expanded backstory and reasons for wanting to disobey his orders finally after being shown to be a man just doing his job and not thinking too much about it is right there watching the scene and is shown right after Luffy asks for food being for the first time visibly concerned for his friends on egghead now that things are out of his control. Then he is again shown, probably less than a minute later, right after Luffy has received food and is sitting in a different location (by some unknown distance, probably not much). Seems like very nearly explicit hinting to me and is either true or intentional and rather odd misleading by Oda.

Does anyone ever wonder why a world with such a short history (obviously only that we have known) has so much variation in Species? My theory has been that it was a prison planet with advanced jailors that were overthrown by Nika and the Tenryuubito. The tenryuubito then decided to take over the world instead of free it and erased history with the members of D being the castouts that wanted the whole world to be free. Of all the theories and ramblings I never see getting brought up though we never really talk about why there is soooo many different races in One Piece and it is just a normal accepted part of a fantasy story. It always bothers me why it seems like so many of the people just have no clue about any of the other species though.

So this chapter is basically what is happening immediately after page 9 of 1095. When Saturn said “aim for the head” Bonney started thinking about what she saw. So ODA showed us what she saw but (Go check) you could literally read from there and skip the whole backstory and continue in 1103. So no Kizaru couldn’t have done any of what people are trying to say he did .

Btw. It is me that is saying that there is a possibility that everyone on this world is alien. At one point different criminals from the galaxy were brought to the one piece world. That is how I reconcile the massive disparity in variation of species, and the fact that there are several of these species that are basically unknown to the rest of humanity. I think the devil fruits being brought about by hope also fits a world colonized by prisoners. Prisoners have almost nothing but hope. It also fits in with the fact that "the good guys" in this series act like criminals. It also doesn't mean that any of the things that have happened up until now are any different. It just means I think the void century is the current world government covering up the fact that they have replaced the jailors of the world as the new dictators. Edit: To me its a fun thought that can neither be proven or negated via panels, so it is a "fun" thought.

I have a theory that Shanks is sick, which explains why he lost his arm at the start for Luffy, something akin to what happened to Whitebeard in the war. This may be the reason he couldn't react fast to the sea beast. Additionally, there are many panels where they don't let him fight Ben Beckman and the rest. I think Sanji not moving was a mistake, but it had to happen so that Kizaru could give Luffy food. That's the only explanation; they could say that you needed to use a lot of Haki at once to remove it, and Sanji just didn't do that. I just realized a parallel between Joyboy and king Neptune. Joyboy broke a promise that was made to Poseidon. While king Neptune at the reverie arc when he sees shirahoshi about to be enslaved said to himself that he will not be able to keep his promise to otohime. Im an only anime watcher but i came up with these theories and it probably sounds stupid but can someone explain the possibility of these 2 theories being true? I was just thinking and thought what if the One Piece was the the Gum-Gum Fruit? It’s less likely to be the Devil Fruit as it’s said Shanks stole it from the World Govt but it’s possible they found the One Piece first. Shanks is also the only Yonko and one of the only strongest characters in the series to not have a DF. It’s confirmed he knew the secrets of Luffy’s fruit so could he be somehow waiting for Luffy to fight Blackbeard and then fight Luffy to somehow retrieve the fruit? As he knows Buggy the other Yonko is actually a fraud it’s left only both Shanks and Luffy on top. Shanks is now also “finding” for the One Piece after Wano which maybe indicates he’ll find Luffy at Laughtale and fight him? As Shanks is seen at Marineford not exactly looking to meet Luffy and throughout the series he’s always been hinting that he would have Luffy bring his Strawhat back at the right time and place and that place bejng Laughtale, where the One Piece would end up if Luffy goes there. Otherwise the Strawhat might be the One Piece? And Luffy was told by Shanks to return it to him which foreshadows the fight between them. The timing of finding the result of Luffy Vs Kaido and saying it’s time to go acquire the One Piece as if there was a specific time they should go for it. Shanks is a mysterious character who we see every few milestones so I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Oda uses him as an antagonist at the end as his purpose in the story has to be something.

My 2nd theory is the palace at Mary Geosie. I think the garden that we commonly see Im depicted in is there to represent something similar to a bird cage. It is a fully enclosed place, similar to the flower dome in Singapore. You see butterflies roaming free and Im casually interacting with them. I think this is symbolism for how Im sees the one piece world. Everything is trapped with them and they are the controllers of everyones destiny within the world. Its why Im has the hat stored within his dome. It's to symbolise him controlling the one attempt at rebelling against his control within his own world. Having it locked there symbolises his continued control. And now a new straw hat has been added it is a new semblance of imbalance created within his world. I guess this is more just analysing how the character is setup more than an actual theory. But I found it interesting.

I have another theory: Maybe Kizaru had read lots of books about Nika as a kid, which is what had inspired him to geKizaru using a sword is what had also inspired him to become a swordsman as well, using Nika's powers as well. The reason why I think the marines will become good at the end of one piece instead of becoming non existent is because there will still be people dying all around the globe do to pirates, something like the world government would still have to be in place, and a change in power (killing off Imu, Gorosei, Akainu and Greenbull (the worst of the worst in the world government and people set up as end game villains)) will probably happen instead of a full reset of the world. Gion and Tokikake were already candidates for admirals and are kind hearted enough to be a good fit like fujitora. I haven't talked about Borsalino(kizaru) yet because I think he will resign or die in egghead because of his connection to Kuma and Bonney.

Tldr: Greenbull,Akainu,Imu and the gorosei will die at the end of one piece with kizaru dying or leaving the WG. The admirals will be Fujitora, Gion and Tokikake with Garp as fleet admiral (because the only reason he refused was because of the world nobles and gorosei)

He'll be paralleling Roger and Ace, and because of that, armies from all over the world who are allied with Luffy will join to rescue him. The only way I see Luffy giving into that is because the Gorosei managed to do something so egregious to his Nakama that he essentially becomes their slave....like Kuma. I was in the middle of watching the episode of Zoro on Mihawk's island. Right when Zoro got dumped by Perono only for zoro to show up exactly where an explosion happened.

So One Piece is reaching the final saga and there are three islands left (without counting Egghead), Elbaf, Lodestar and then Laugh Tale. Roger implies that Lodestar not only reveals the importance of Poneglyphs, but also the existence of the Road Poneglyphs, the fact that there are 4 of them, and their color. This might be written on a Poneglyph, but then how could Roger learn that information 13 years before he met Oden (a person that can read poneglyphs)? How could the people of the Ancient Kingdom communicate that information in a way that would be understood by anyone? I think Lodestar reveals a fifth poneglyph guarded and concealed by a civilization that is able to read them.

This is my interpretation of a creation myth for the one piece world I did for an assignment, because oda wouldn’t do it himself

When the creator and his four scouts found the Earth, it was nothing but a large mass of inclement ocean. They saw this, and the creator erected a large monolith of rock, circling the prime meridian of the planet, walling one hemisphere off from the other, with nothing but a mountain with five waterfalls is the only way to cross to the other side. they then separated a stretch of ocean that spanned the equator from the rest by placing two strips of calm waters with no current, where no wind would blow. These calm belts separated what would later be known as the grand line from the east blue, West, blue, north, blue, and south blue. The separation of the world was done so life would grow diverse and be nurtured by the desire to travel past these borders. These five areas of ocean were then filled with islands for life to live in freely.

The creators scouts reason with him that, “what would be the point of freedom if there are none to uphold it?”, and so the creator opted to forge kind of being that was a cut above the rest. They would look quite pedestrian among the normal man, but would have the will, and determination to maintain the world’s natural order: freedom. These people were modeled after the four scouts of the creator in character, wit, and core values, but no two were quite the same. With Nika’s return to the citadel at the red line, where the gods resided, known as Mary Geoise, they all contemplated on whether to destroy the devil fruits, or let the people have the freedom to choose whether to eat them or not. The gods decided that the powers granted by the devil fruits, despite their name, could be used for the betterment of humanity. They made a radical decision, and forsook their mortal bodies to be turned into devil fruits themselves. upon consumption, these four mythical devil fruits Would give the users the power and willpower of the fruits respective God, knowing that those with the will of D would solemnly uphold the freedom of the greater world.

I believe the creation of devil fruits were mostly developed by ancient skypieans because from Enel’s cover story, enel found an ancient but highly advanced civilization created by skypieans which they decided to go to earth due to loss of natural resources.

Ancient skypieans travel to earth and befriend the inhabitants of earth where people of different races exist like fishman, people with long neck, long arm or long leg, giant, dwarf, etc.

But when other people were jealous of other people’s evolution, ancient skypieans decided to make fruits where it can grant people different abilities or evolution according to their desire and wish but since ancient skypieans’ technology or devil fruit users has an extremely foreign composition compared to earth inhabitants, any devil fruit user can’t swim in earth’s oceans exactly like vegapunk theorized.

Then he regenerates, (could be apart of a DF ability if he is human) but he calls these people we don’t see “gentlemen”, that’s a sign of some form of respect, especially from him. And then says farewell, but we still don’t see the people. Or do we? His arm regenerates in segments. What if he takes a marine from a previous panel, the ones who said “let’s go help Saturn” and turned each of them from living beings to pure life force and used their lives to regenerate? It’d make sense as to why during the regenerating he does, it’s segmented. Each segment is a human life. Just my thoughts while I sit on the toilet after reading.

The One Piece Soul Realm

I think there are 2 concurrent forms of existence within the one piece world. There is the physical realm, which we’re familiar with. Then there is also the soul realm, which operates both perpendicular and parallel to the physical realm. We know souls exist in 3-dimensional space, since Vegapunk has measured the mass of a soul and we have seen Brook's soul move freely through the world. This is a component of souls that exist parallel to the physical realm.

Brook says he had no unique attributes after he ate his devil fruit other than being unable to swim. That changed when he died, where his soul "returned" from the land of the dead and tried to find his body. It took him a year to find his body, which had already decayed by then.

In Brook's example, we are told there is a land of the dead, where we can assume souls exist after a physical realm body dies. I think Brook’s soul returning from the land of the dead is Brook being able to travel between the soul realm and the physical realm. Brook's power allows his soul to return to the physical realm, which he appears to have chosen to do, since he is searching for his body. We are not directly told this is a choice, but his existing promise to Laboon makes me think it was a choice.

There are a few important details to this:

1. The land of the dead exists and Brook has memory of his soul being there
2. Brook says his power didn’t do anything other than prevent him from swimming until he died, which means he was not able to separate his soul from his body before his body died
3. Brook’s memories and personality are a component of his soul

With the 2 realms established, I will now describe how the 2 realms apply to haki, devil fruits, black blades, and Klabautermann.

Haki:

Rayleigh describes observation haki as the ability to sense spirit energy and armament haki as the "only effective countermeasure against devil fruit users". I will take this to mean in both cases, spirit energy is used to interact with other spirit energy. Observation haki functions like sonar, where you gain the ability to detect spirit energy using your own spirit. Armament haki is the act of applying your spirit energy to the physical realm, which is why haki can be used to prevent physical harm to a user's body.

Devil fruits:

Devil fruits interact with the soul realm, as shown by Brook's devil fruit allowing his soul to travel from the land of the dead to the land of the living. Devil fruits also interact with the physical realm, which is why the bodies of users can change after they eat a devil fruit. We are directly told devil fruits alter the lineage factor of users, which is how we learn both living and nonliving objects are governed by lineage factor, making it a closer approximation of chemistry as a whole rather than DNA specifically. Baby5's body turning into guns and Akainu's body turning into magma, while both still living, shows lineage factor is present in both cases.

Impel Down guards have awakened their devil fruits and become overwhelmed by the will of the fruits, becoming semi-sentient beasts who follow commands and perceive the world with limited intelligence. I take this to mean the spirit/will of the user was too weak to tame the devil fruit, and some experience/event took place which allowed the soul of the devil fruit to interact with the soul of the user, and through this interaction, the devil fruit overwhelmed the user, leading to the mind of the user becoming animal-like.

This is consistent with Kaido’s description of awakening:

The separation between mind and body feels more like a separation between physical and non-physical, which makes sense if devil fruits serve as a link between the physical realm and the soul realm

Road to LaughTale Volume 4 indicates the innate nature of the zoan consumes the user when they awaken, but in the case of Luffy and Lucci, their personality appears to remain intact, though interestingly were well-aligned with the personality of their zoan to begin with. They both appear to essentially have their personalities amplified.

We are told that ever since Lucci was a young child, he has been singularly focused on hunting and killing people. He joined the WG purely because it was a method of having a steady flow of people to kill without worrying about legal difficulties. He makes it clear he has no real loyalty to the WG, doesn’t care much for the navy, and is above all else, heavily invested in hunting worthy prey. Similarly, Luffy’s personality appears uniquely well-matched for everything we know about Nika and the lore surrounding Nika. These personality traits were apparent even before he ate the fruit.

This brings us to a few separate examples of devil fruits interacting with personalities/memories:

1. Brook retains his personality and memories after his body dies, but we know brains are generally involved with memories/personality because Vegapunk indicates his brain grows as it gains more knowledge.

2. Law’s “Personality swap” transfers the thoughts, memories, personality, and many things we generally associate with a person’s “soul”. I believe Law’s power and the aspects of a person’s existence he can transfer are one of the most clear signs of the distinction between the soul realm and the physical realm.

The way will/spirit/soul are each described, they appear to all be names for the same core idea: the soul realm existence of an object/person. When the Scabbards fight Kaido, Kaido directly senses Oden, showing inherited will can be intense enough to feel. It is so intense that it confuses Kaido.

If it’s the soul component of a devil fruit that gives you an actual ability, brook’s power is shown to extend beyond rebirth. It is a fundamental ability to control your soul existence with your physical existence, which is why he can freely move outside of his body through walls as a soul

3. Using haki against someone may essentially be severing the link between the soul of the fruit and the physical plane of existence. This would explain why haki is necessary to use physical punches on a logia user. If haki is a manifestation of a soul’s will, only haki should be able to interact with that soul realm component of someone’s existence.

To conclude, I believe the soul realm is a crucial piece of information the gorosei are determined to make sure no one ever becomes aware of. I believe that similar to how the WG only has control over the surface of the planet, the WG only has control over the physical realm of the planet. I think the isolated, free, and whimsical nature of the white sea is analogous to the existence of the soul realm itself.

One I’m a fan of is his dream is to go to the moon.
