I'd recommend first making a planning layer where you draw the general movement and main frames

then on another layer, draw just those main frames and then add the in betweens later

many people work with 2s or 3s, but don't be afraid to use 1s

instead of drawing things frame by frame, just make these "landmarks" in your animation first, and you can worry about the in-betweens later.

yeah planning out movement usually speeds up the process for many people

it also makes it easier to organize/smooths out the animation when you're first starting

The Taniwha are primarily modeled after Sea Angels and Blue Ocean Slugs in terms of body structure, and are named after a dragon-like creature from Maori Mythology.
