well, it's more like graphic design work than it is art. although Dall-E can do some art stuff too.
i dont think it will ever replace actual art because theyre making sure it's not made available to everyone + limitations + you have to disclose the image was made by AI (depends how hard you can enforce that).

regardless, despite how good it is, it still has ways to go so the best i could see it being is a brainstorming method for artists/mood boards/reference

i think the real application isnt gonna be in the "art" department, more of deep fakes and whatnot

basically fooling the human brain

the final goal is some much more important work, this is just a fun way to get the public accustomed to and excited about AI

it could work in an assisting purpose for artists, like you draw the designs and plan the art and it executes the numerous poses you need for your story, shades, formating and everything. but i wouldn't go further than that

since all ai generate their products by looking at pre-existing libraries of data, it would be like every artist putting a skin on the same base character like in a game if that makes sense

yeah i get what you mean, i think it's just a good way to reduce a mangaka's work load, it doesn't have to be as much as what i'm saying but you know if the AI can integrate a background into your drawing it reduces the workload. basically do the finishing that assistants do nowadays but using a robot while keeping the integrity of the artist's job

Yeah that’s where I stand on it too I think. I’ve been using it almost as a search engine to help me find references of specific things that I would otherwise spend hours trying to find on Pinterest.

The real tricky thing is people being deceitful with it, I think. Already seen a few people demonstrate how easy it is to pass it off as your own work with just a few touch ups.

i honestly would not worry about the general issue of artistic integrity because real art will always distinguish itself from the fakes, there is some non-replicable charm to it

i think it's too early for people to freak out about taking jobs away from artists.
it might be a similar situation to something like automation in factories. people say it's taking away jobs when in fact it just takes humans out of mindless busy work and allows them to do something more meaningful in better work conditions and better pay. even that still has ways to go

like can you really get the exact art style you want with good consistency, human to human communication, more personal touches, etc from a robot?

well, AI is more about replicating mediums rather than art style. so oil, acrylic, ink, pencil, etc. style is something AI could never really replicate 100% in the way we want for now and the foreseeable future. it mainly does it for something that super famous and has a ton of material for the AI to feed on like picasso or van gough or w/e, whereas you can go to an artist you like and ask for exactly what you want, AI wont be able to replicate any work 100%

like you cant compare an AI that has studied millions of van gough replicas to learn the style to the style of a random free lance artist that has a few hundred works

the one i posted is from DALL-E mini, which isnt all that powerful

mainly because it's available to the public so they limit it

the main DALL-E is kept behind closed doors, and is more powerful
