I don't draw with settings in mind too often so I usually either go with colors I like that I've used before or try finding new ones by picking from other images/art and changing the values around

maybe try looking for art with similar lighting and go from there

and put a temp bg color that goes with the other colors so you get a better idea of how it'll look
