im a little bit of an art nerd and snob like a little but i think that because manga art is drawn with intention for shading and etc some of that can be lost in color so im not like against it but i do think that the way you see a visual can give a really lasting impression on the material youre consuming and color can strip that away from you

like colored isnt the intended way the author wanted to communicate with the reader its other people adding something to their work basically giving you a different experience entirely

Some of the pre ts filler is decent, just short wacky adventures. G8 is a standout, a better comedy arc then Long Ring Long Land

G8 did a better job of having good crew dynamics and funny gags, which as a result hurt my view of LRLL

But anime LRLL is also different from Manga LRLL

and i love the arc starting with geography getting explained to us letting the reader know about the incredibly abnormally low tide planting the seed for aqua laguna since low tides are a sign of a big storm coming

so all of those things lead directly into water 7 where the crew explodes and theres a giant storm both literally and metaphorically for our characters

the story and animation, direction etc its all so well done but the characterization is just so off its distracting
