Wano Country in English, but in Japanese, it's 和の国, the "no" in this regard is a linker, not part of the country's name. So it's more like the Country of Wa, or Wa's Country. It's symbolic of Japanese culture, and maybe cause One Piece wants it to be more general, they didn't translate it as Japanese-like, but just took the sound Wa.

And also maybe cause Wano country sounds better than Wa's Country, or Country of Wa, Wano became the official translation.
