Yes, it is probably because one of the plugins is listening to PlayerChatEvent instead of AsyncPlayerChatEvent I don't know which one though. It probably won't be one of the popular main-stream ones like Essentials or Luck-Perms.

I've got a server running paper and it absolutely hates me, anyone else can connect and be fine forever, I can't even stay on for 20 seconds before being kicked due to An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. I had a similar issue with a friend's server also running paper, and another server which used to time out due to keepalive issues. I've never met anyone with the same issue and I can't explain it for the life of me, has anyone got any clue what I could do?
