well it's a tad bit different on ubuntu lol

but tldr what you need to do:
(if on windows)

1. Download the server jar for the version you wanna play. (If you don't wanna sacrifice some vanilla features, go with official - https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server, if you want some more performance I recommend paper https://papermc.io/downloads)
2. Create a batch (.bat) file in the same directory (where your server .jar file is) that will contain a line that will start your server. You can find the "line" on google (idk google smt like "minecraft server run batch file") (To create a batch file you have to enable "View file extensions" on windows, or just create a file in notepad and do "Save as" where you will type start.bat for ex.)
3. Run the batch file by double-clicking it (On the first run you will have to open the eula.txt file and change the line eula=false to eula=true.)
4. Make sure your ports are open. Usually it has to be done in the router configuration. If you don't have access to your router to open the ports, you can set-up a "tunnel". Main two I use is https://playit.gg/ and https://ngrok.com/.
5. Share your IP and port (by default the port is 25565, it can be changed in server.properties file.
6. Play.

so i was away from home for a week for a college thing & now that im back im getting comically bad ping only on minecraft

right before i left i accidentally switched to a different windows user & back but i thought nothing of it

when i came back i realized i was signed out of everything

& it seems to be something with networks capping bandwidth?

Issue is that while the server is minigames rn, just by definition, there is gonna be a huge variety of games. But I may in the future expand to more "persistent" gamemodes (IE survival, whatever) so it's hard to have a "theme" for it

depends on how custom your server is.

For highly custom servers that use specific features and texturepacks, 100% not gonna work

you also have some limitations like display entities not existing in bedrock

so nothing that uses that like fancy holograms or so.

Your plugins also may not support it, you never know

but overall it is almost just plug and play

I'm struggling to find the root of a /discord command on my server. I have EssentialsDiscord which has it's own command for sending out the invite link, which works. But when I do /discord another command seems to dominate and sends out "Check the Discord: <link>" (< exactly like that, not substituting the "<link>") instead of EssxDiscord's command. I can get Essentials' output if I use for example /ediscord etc.

I currently don't have PlugMan as I found it problematic, so I can't use that to identify the command. I've scoured my plugin files to look for another Discord command but can't find any. Any ideas?

First of all, you can always force the essentials command by registering it as an alias in commands.yml. I am not sure what would be best for finding the plugin that register the commands but binary search is something you can try. Or you can try to look for all /<plugin>:discord commands. I believe that spigot registeres that as an alias for all commands created by plugins.
