stupid question but does changing the view-distance (not the simulation-distance) make a lot of a difference in terms of server preformance? before version 1.17 that option didnt exist and was purely client-sided but many people in the internet say that you shouldnt have high view-distances. if that is really the case, it would be so stupid because you cannot play on survival servers with a view-distance of 32 chunks anymore.

Incorrect, packetevents is mostly used as a shaded dependency in most anticheats and packet based plugins. very few use the plugin as it’s unnecessary.
Check packetevents github wiki, if it’s meant to be used as a standalone plugin then why would retrooper add the wiki for shading it into maven as compile.

so how it works is that it has a secret token that is only accessible on the real proxy

if they don't have the token, they get 👢

and since the backend servers are offline mode, they don't need your login info
