1.13-1.18 servers cost more to run than a 1.12 server. The higher the MC version, for obvious reasons the higher your server specs have to be to achieve the same results. The plugin I'm making makes it possible to use 1.13-1.18 features (blocks, items & eventually entities) on a 1.12 server. For servers that want those things but don't need other things like world generation, this would economically make sense. There are already networks out there who do this. Hypixel for example on their Build Battle game run those servers on 1.8 servers but only allow 1.14+ clients to join

Side note*: if there is one available, it won't reroll if there are too many users with the same username. When I got nitro months ago I changed my discriminator to this one I have now (#6789) to get the Emily username, after many nitro expirations it never rerolled successfully, presumably because there are too many Emily's so it just won't bother wasting time looking for an available discriminator

If you have nitro and chose another disc, it sets to that and it rerolls when your nitro expires but then when you get nitro again it might remember the old disc you've set and tries to set it to that if its still available.
