I know how to use them properly, however I frequently misuse them as I incorrectly place the apostrophe to signal possession, even though "its" signals possession, and "it's" is short for "it is". I make this mistake because it's an inconsistency in English, as typically possession is communicated via an apostrophe, but for some reason that isn't the case for "it".

Not sure about your issue with there, their, and they're. They're completely different words for me, I actually pronounce them differently in real life.
