Also, technically do you have the right to decompile any resource made for Spigot as it is under GPL and any resource that uses parts from them (i.e. their API) has to use this license too, which gives "buyers" the right to get the source when asked for

You can't install a plugin for 1.5.2 on 1.16.4 expecting it to work, can you? Even if it doesn't use nms/obc/reflection of any kind, just straight up plain Bukkit. It really needs a good rewrite. I don't say "completely remove everything that exists", but get rid of deprecated events and methods that shouldn't be used, like PlayerPreLoginEvent (not async), or Skull#setOwner
