I currently run a server and ive done absolutely no code of my own at all, i dont know the first thing about java I dont even know how to compile java code at all to run it. I havent done any big advertising so its not a large server at all, but the people who do play seem to really enjoy it and ive enjoyed making it for sure.

The first step is definitely figuring out what type of server you would like to make, and what sort of features you would like to incorporate into your server.

The second step would be to find the plugins in spigotmc or whatever that will help you get what you want. Sometimes you can literally just type into gooogle what you want, add "plugin" on the end and then it'll come up with some plugin suggestions that you can use or buy. Most plugins are free but a lot of the good ones are behind a one time purchase. Make sure any plugins you buy and/or download are for the same version of minecraft that your server is native to or you may run into some bugs/issues.

The third step is configurating all the plugins you now have to get them all working, which 99% of the time plugins have guides in their description or discords where you can ask for help doing this part. Reading .yml files is also very often a simple job and doesn't require any brain power as they're normally written in plain old easy to understand english and don't normally use any technical jargon or anything like that.

I might've missed some steps along the way and probably over simplified it a little bit, thats the basic jist of what a person can do to develop a server with no experience or coding knowledge however

I use the ComponentFlattener of Kyori Adventure to get the text from components while ignoring styling.
I iterate through each character and calculate their width by looking its codepoint up in the json file, the add it all together.
Finally do I subtract the text length from 270 (the max width I found for the MOTD), divide it by 2 and remove 1 (looks better than without it). I use that final number to then add n spaces until this number is reached (for each space do I count 4).

From my point of view, I think you could make some adjustments to improve the result even more. For example, I notice that you use a lot of yellow and bold, maybe you could balance it a little bit. I also think that some emojis would look good in certain points, but without saturating.

As for the items, maybe some of them could be replaced by heads to give them more variety. Also, adding a sound when clicking on the items could improve the experience. I'm not sure if they already have it, since in the video you have the music and game sound muted, so I'll leave it as a suggestion in case it's not implemented.

Finally, I hope you don't mind this comment, but I noticed that you usually delete previous videos when they receive dislikes. I think it would be interesting to leave them up, as that way people who follow your content could see your evolution over time, even if some videos have more dislikes than others.

player heads takes a few seconds of flickering to get to render everytime on opening GUI. On the other hand, usually most of the ppl use gui scale 2 for playing multiplayer server which I don't think banners should be replaced by player heads as it's not clear enough to look at. Not sure if u mean the green wool, red wool OR banners. As I hate the flickering effect of player heads on rendering. So I would stay with using banner green wool and red wool

And emoji is rly just unnecessary on such a gui, but can be use as shown in the picture below

So overall I will add Click Sound, change the color scheme of Orange + Yellow to dark gradient + light gradient and gray+white description for a more user friendly view

Well, there are custom items. Tho, what I can actually add and do is limited by my own knowledge of ItemsAdder, which does the heavy lifting here.
So far I have:

• Copper armor set
• Iron rod (used for recipes. Currently only one)
• Iron bow (uses aforementioned iron rod)
• Recipe Book (Used to open GUI with custom recipes listed)
• Teleport crystal (Shared it in #dev-general)

One thing I would like to work on too is a claim system using WorldGuard and chunks, so that a player can claim an area to then build on.
Hardest part for me is finding an easy way to find the area of the possible claim and if it conflicts with other regions... So far, I've figured out you can do ChunkX/Z << 4 to get the corner of a chunk.

Tho, using WorldGuard seems a bit tedious.

(Also, yes I could use plugins, but the ones I've found are.... old and I don't trust them that much... And I want my system to use a custom item for it + other stuff like world border)
