From my understanding, that is not how it works. You can still be sued, and a business license doesn't affect that. Just to hop in on this, registering a company depends on what type of company. I can't give exact names cause I only know the system in Germany but we have a personal company, where the entity is basically you, so if you loose a lawsuit for more money than you have, you will probably have to file for personal bankruptcy. If the entity is detached from you, the company can file for bankruptcy so you don't have to.

Income taxes are really annoying though, like portugal as an example let's say $100 for easy math, first tax is VAT 23% so $23 gone, then social security which is around 15% to 25% depending on how much you need to declare (not exactly it's more complicated but basically) so $25 gone
You now have $52 left, let's say you buy things with the rest of your "salary" that'd get taxed by 23% so $11.96 gone, at the end what really was "yours" was $40.09
