#QoL Improvements

Press enter, up arrow, enter
A current workaround (assuming you are APing to a galaxy, which in 99% of cases is probably true), is to /search the galaxy and then use Shift + V which autopilots to the galaxy you currently have selected on your galaxy map (manually clicking to select a galaxy on the map works too). You can handle distractions and then quickly resume AP course that way, and is far more convenient than entering the last chat command (imo).
For your suggestion though, perhaps something like Shift + R could be used as the modified hotkey to return on AP path to what you last attempted (space object you pressed V on, /ap command, galaxy map double clicked, etc.) if that info was cached.
If you double clicked to AP, that that gal will be your selected agl and shift+v will work. If you used /ap.. then you can up arrow enter
Unless you like.. double clicked on map to go somewhere.. and THEN started clicking other maps will the shift+v not work
shift+v is p much supposed to be the resume route
I think what Scoundrel is proposing is some sort of "last autopilot attempt" being cached
Yeah I think it can be resolved if /ap also clicked on the gal same as search, or have an option for that behavior
The one thing that /search does is it pulls up the map, which requires another button press to close.
So I do agree here with Scoundrel that I would actually like this added myself. The technical limitations however, I cannot comment on.
Sure, it's just doing /search Gateway of Lumination instead of /ap, but that extra button press... is still a button press. 😛
It's the difference between an action game input being 2 buttons instead of 1 type thing.
Polish
probably could make /ap do a /search first
so it also centers the map and selects the gal
Yeah. I think it's worth considering.
xD How many times I get distracted by MNC, Avengers, and stuff along the way to Matriarch is hard to count, and learning shift+v was a godsend
up+enter is simply inferior!
This kind of process is exactly why we need a QoL improvement. Instead of shift + v if double click or up arrow + enter, a simple small button UI for resuming course.
Starsector uses a similar system. Once you autopilot somewhere a small UI pops up on the right with 'Resume Course' and 'Cancel Course'. I make use of both quite often.
Since shift + V exists, then the infrastructure for resuming autopilot is already in-game. Meaning that really I'm just proposing adding a button to press in addition to the hotkey
sounds like boomer problems
Respect your elders
This boomer right here had never heard of shift-V 😬
Imagine a new player's experience 😵💫
I'm agreeing with you! it would be nice if we had a UI element to resume /ap
Alright so, We didn't get an "ap" button yet.. BUT we did do a couple things
we added a button on the galaxy map that explains some actions that can be done in it
And I made the /ap command "select" a gal like clicking on it does. Which allows shift+v to work with ./ap
I think it'd be a good idea to add an option that to the Display menu that allows us to pick how long the mouse has to hover over something before a tooltip pops up.
@last rivet was looking at this code yesterday, though the junior client devs have never added a setting like that before
The delay is in the tooltip code, I'm not sure how to expose it.
Ahh, that's not the delay that's the animation timing.
What language does SS use?
cpp
and the client is a very custom and old fork of irrlicht
Extremely custom
I'll pray for C# with a custom stack one day
I spent a few minutes making a Bender meme about making my own SS with Blackjack and Hookers and found out I can't post pics here. So use your imaginations
You can now

I already am, lol. Just not online. I'm here half to reminisce, half to study pitfalls. I just love the idea of space trading empires with combat. SS is the only game that does this in an MMO format to my knowledge so I really want it to grow.
Would it be possible for progress to be a bar filling up and within the center of the bar a timer counting down? Visual communication + more informative.
I presume we only have the ability to put text in that table so the “bar” would have to be ASCII
