I have finally realized why after years of playing this game why the right click menu seems inconsistent at times and overall feels janky and I'm curious if it's something that can be fixed if possible.

In short, if you right click anything in your inventory window and move your mouse a bit to the left after right clicking, the UI menu immediately closes. From my very non scientific testing, if you right click and move the cursor to the right, it works fine and doesn't close, but moving specifically to the left will always close the UI menu. I suspect this is due to the shape of the menu item stopping immediately to the left of the UI box that appears.

I should point out, I said when you move mouse to the left, but really it's just when the mouse travels off the menu pop up at all within a set amount of time(I think)

i.e. it happens when I move the mouse up as well

So its neither move to the left or the right

You're mouse must have some delay on mouse up

Down the issue never happens because the mouse travels within the pop up window so it usually stays up unless you yeet the mouse across the screen super fast. Lol

Yeah, right click and mouse moves outside the UI pop up, it just closes.

If mouse is stationary when right click, the UI stays opened. Even if you move it fast to any direction away from the UI. It only happens on initial opening of the menu

In windows - right click context men uonly occurs on mouse up.

I'm not sure if there's a technical reason for that in SS but should be easy to play with

If it's something that can be messed with I would try seeing if there's something that happens when the UI is clicked while the mouse is moving at all. Perhaps there is some kind of mechanism that is checking for pointer location to decide if the UI should just close because your mouse is not within a certain region of the UI.

Unsure if it's related but if you right click and hold, then move the mouse outside the UI like really far the UI just closes.

Yeah that's where - I would likely just move it to mouse up to reflect windows

I run into this all the time, theres something hardwarey going on between windows and SS. It doesnt always happen for other people either.

You keep mentioning mouse down and up and my smooth brain can't figure out what you mean. Lol do you mean direction of travel or the clicking itself?

We had similar screwy stuff with the trade bot orders stuff with clicks leaking through in the past

Okay so there's two motions

#

Mouse down is when you click (like click and drag)

mouse up is when you release

Actually I think this smoothness has made me notice something. And I'm not complaining here, but when right clicking an item, for a brief second while the context menu loads in, the item description opens and closes very quickly. I can create a new thread for that if you'd like. I hope this video showcases the issue. It's so brief that the video doesn't always show the issue. Perhaps it's the frame rate, the pop up is very very very brief.

Yeah the video definitely doesn't show all the detail. I think it's recording too slowly. Each object you right click shows it's description and closes immediately after. The first two items I left clicked to give an idea where the pop up would be, then every time I right click after it shows the item description. Kinda interesting the video doesn't show it every time.
